So excited, FINALLY the booking window is coming around!

Somehow it just makes the cruise seem so much nearer! I am one of those OCD planners (I have spreadsheets and time slots for our days!) and although I don't mind switching things around when we get there is we want to do something else and be spontaneous I just LOVE to plan!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, tomorrow is manic here, we have ANOTHER birthday party to attend, sales shopping to go to (I am thinking of going tomorrow for late night sales shopping to look for a dress for formal night!) and loads of jobs to do!

Andrew posted a great thread a while back about booking Palo \ excursions. I will look for it for you but one thing I do remember is that there are two confirm stages, you confirm the time and day and then have to confirm to finalise the reservatiion, so make double sure you have done both or the reservation won't be logged.

I only have to stay up until 9pm to book reservations tomorrow because we are on the west coast. Unfortunately, we are going to see a play Saturday night. So, I had to write a 10 page word document explaining how to book the reservations for my sister so she can do it for me. It includes screen shots and everything. Just hope she can figure it out.

I had absolutely no problem booking everything we wanted for the 8/1 cruise last Saturday....I think this will be a different ball game. We are doing a dry run tonight, so I can show her everything she needs to know.

Our priorities are this:

1) Tortola: Day at the Baths or Virgin Gorda Tour
2) St. Thomas: St. John Trunk Bay
3) Palo: Brunch
4) Palo: Dinner
5) Castaway Cay: Stingrays
6) Palo: Tea

We are both husbandless this trip (her's passed away and mine is staying home) so we only want to do DCL excursions to reduce our stress. We are traveling with my DS15 and DS12 and her DD15 and DS9.

We have late seating too since we booked so late. We hope to change it while on the first cruise. I've heard that when you do a back-to-back, they let you book Palo and choose dining time and rotation. Here's hoping!

Depends on what you want, Brunch will go fast so will afternoon tea, Dinner at Palo should last longer.

Shore trips bar 'The Baths' @Tortola and Castaway Cay stringrays or in the extreame gataway package, they will take longer to sell out.

Spa usually is ok, but places on the afternoon of formal night go fast.

What’s New on the website...WOW! There is so much new...I had so much I wanted to do but to be honest, I only got a bit of it done. Here we go...here is what is new:

1. We have changes in our DIS MEMBER list (welcome to 5lilfish, sadly EastYorkDisneyFan left us).

2. I also added to our DIS MEET page (allforpooh is going to meet up with us!)!!!!

3. The real changes...check out our HOT TOPIC pages!!! You will now find links to pages that cover topics such as:
• SPA - all the packages, amount of time and costs
• REAS - what it includes and what it costs
• WHAT COSTS EXTRA - a nice list of what you have to pay extra for
• SHUTTERS - all the packages and the cost
• BOOKING PALO AND EXCURSIONS - the advice and instructions
• THE BATHS-DIY - advice from others who have done it on their own
• FAQ - questions we have asked, sorted by topic

The information I added to create the topic pages came from people posting great information here on the DIS. I simply copied and pasted it there because sometimes it is hard to remember what page the great information was on - so it might be easier to have it all together on our web site.

That being said...a huge thank you to Andrew for posting most of the information and to Jude for posting about the baths DIY excursion. I know that some information came from other people as well so THANK YOU to everyone! It is great to have so many knowledgeable people here!

I will do my best to keep up with all the postings from the DIS in the next couple of days as we all post everything we booked! If I miss something or you see any errors, please let me know and I will try to fix them right away!

I am sure I will be full of questions today! :rotfl: Only a couple right now though.

1. Has anyone here done the Rasul at the spa? How about the Rainforest Room on a 7-night?

Last cruise we had passes to the Rainforest Room as part of our REAS - but, we only used it 1 time (4-night cruise). We really enjoyed it and thought we would get it for this cruise. When I think about all there is to do on board, I do not know if we will really use it enough to get our money's worth. Then, I thought about maybe doing the Rasul - a one time deal, a bit cheaper and a bit different.

If you have have done either, do you think they were worth the money? Did you enjoy your time? Would you book it again?

2. Has anyone here used a tour company on St. Thomas (not Disney) to book their excursion?

We were thinking of booking the Magen's Bay excursion with Disney. I thought that it was a bit of money for what you get. After looking on another site, I see a lot of people do DIY excursions to save money. One company (Air Force 1 Fun) was recommended. I looked at their site and found that we could do a 2 hour island tour followed by 2 hours at the beach for $25 pp. This is significantly less than the Disney excursion and would allow us a tour of the island followed by the beach time we want.

Any opinions on using a different company? Any companies that you would recommend?

That is all for now but as I said, I am sure I will think of more today! :thumbsup2

A reminder for thoose booking tonight.

I posted this before, a thread on the main forum reminded me,

If you requested PLA rotation your character breakfast will be 8.15am (main) 9.30am (late) On Thursday.

So if you want to go to that, think on the impact on Palo Brunch at 10.30am.

( APL will have CB Sunday and LAP will have it Monday same times)

Kritter, Jen and anyone else who knows ----!!
Technically, we have a "Grand Gathering" number because we'll be in WDW with my SIL and family. When I looked at the GG site, it seemed like it was mainly devoted to GG dinner specials. Are there any other GG options that I missed? (My SIL and family are definitely NOT Disney freaks like we are - they kind of think we're a little nuts...:lmao:)

Yes its a fault with the system and it will not work so take it out of your wish list, and book it by 'toggling' down to St Thomas on the ports of call.

The tours come up with all the ports, with Castaway Cay at the top, but for easy access, click the port name.

If the wish list was ok, on the right side there is a toggle for Wish list only.

We had a debate on this thread a week or so back about pre paid tips, worth looking at this post.

Now please be aware the Daily Mail is not the most accurate newspaper in the UK,-In fact if there was a poll on newspaper accuracy, they would probably be in the bottom ''one.''

Jude -
I don't think that there are any other benefits...just thought it would be fun to do a GG with other Disney freaks but we do not have any other Disney freaks to share it with (except all of you on the DIS :rotfl:)!

Tell Sean good luck! Palo is the only thing we are trying to book. We would love to get a brunch and a dinner. We are doing excursions on our own so we do not need to worry about those.

I feel lucky that we can log in at 11:00 - I am not a late night person so that isn't too bad for me.

Can't wait to hear tomorrow what everyone got!

Thanks Andrew, yes I remeber that from 2006 and will try a differant sea day for brunch this time

Duty-Free Alcohol

I am wondering if there is a list of the duty-free alcohol that is available on board? We may bring some wine on but I am wondering what our options are for purchase once we get on board.

To save on $$$, we are thinking a nice drink in the room before dinner or before going out would cut down on what we spend.

Hi Jen,
I am fairly certain you cannot consume what you buy in the duty free shop on board :confused3 They do, however, have good deals, and usually have a different special every day.

St. Thomas also has good deals and, paradoxically, I believe whatever you buy in port is yours to consume during or after the cruise!

We are not big drinkers to begin with, and are often so full!!! on the cruise that we don't drink any of the beer/wine coolers that we bring on board. However, I posted a question on the main boards about not buying drinks when watching the shows in Diversions, etc. and folks said you can just bring your own!:cool1: We may just do that!

Oh no, that will ruin my plans! :confused3 I didn't want to carry to much on board because our luggage will be totally full!!! Last time we had our rolling cooler but this year with luggage restrictions, we are not bringing it.

I would not say that I plan on being a big drinker...:rotfl:...but I would like to relax with a drink or two at night if I want one.

Well, I will just have to figure this one out...good thing we are renting a car to get us to port! We can at least stop and pick up something to bring on board.

Thanks for letting me know.

I think it would just be easier to purchase a cheap one on our way to port (a quick stop at Target or something). Since we have to stop for some drinks, we might as well get a cooler!!!:)

Oh no :( that must be so frustrating. I hope you get it sorted and are able to make some reservations. If not I hope you can get what you want when we get onboard.

I am done! I hope that everyone gets what they want. I had DH sitting next to me reading things to help so it went really fast.

Here is what we have:

Palo Brunch: Sunday @ 11:00 (no option for 10:30)
Paul Dinner: Wednesday @ 6:30
Spa Rasul: Monday @ 9:30 a.m.

That was all we wanted because we are doing DIY excursions on Tortola and St. Thomas - nothing on Castaway Cay.

Hope to see more posts soon!
Jen

See you in Palo at Brunch on Sunday, we are also in at 11am :)

Awesome! Got my Palo brunch for Monday at 11:00 and my Palo dinner for Thursday at 6:30. Nice and easy...and no problems. Had time to throw in a couple of spa choices too!!! Night all, and good luck.:yay:

and we will see you guys in Palo at Dinner on Thursday - I am hoping it will be a good time with sunset etc... but regardless of the view, the food will be DELICIOUS!

Mel
x

PS we also booked up our alloted 10 hours of Flounders time, 2 hours late morning \ lunch time on each sea day so DH and I can enjoy a lunch date and 2 blocks of 2 hours on Tuesday and Thursday evening so dinner is less stressful (we are early dining so I booked the nursery for one hour into the meal so we can all eat together but the kids don't have to last for 2 hours straight - it is a looooooooong time when you are 4 years old and even longer if you are 19 months!

Hi Ed and Mulan,

I was just re-reading my trip report (ah, good times!) from 2004 (link below) and in it I reported that when I showed up for Palo on the first sea day, they didn't have us down at all!:scared1: Yet they showed us to a table right away - sounds like they have some flexibility! (I had forgotten all about that!)

Fingers crossed for you!:wizard:

I was also only able to book for 2 and they paid in full when we did, I am going to need to see if we can add them later.

Denise

We were able to add my DSIL and BIL to our Palo Dinner, but we were unable to get a table for 4 for brunch or tea. We also could not book their shore excursions with us. :confused3 Is this an error? They are paid in full...

We did reserve:

Palo dinner for 4 @ 6pm Thursday
Palo brunch for 2 @ 11:30am Sunday (a bit later than we had hoped)
Palo tea for 2 @ 3pm Monday- for some reason we can't edit it correctly and it shows my DH and BIL having tea :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

CC Stingrays @ 10am
CC parasailing @ 2:30

I hope we are able to correct or finish up our reservation when we embark.

Good night!

All I manage to get was :
Sat. Palo dinner @8pm
Tortola Island Drive and Beach Break
St. John Trunk Bay Beach and Snorkel
DH is happy to have at least one Palo experience.
Glad everyone was able to get some or all of what they wanted. It will be a great cruise no matter what.

We just got back from the play and my sister was able to use my directions to book everything. We got:

Tour of Virgin Gorda (Tortola) same as Day at the Baths without lunch
St. John Trunk Bay (St. Thomas)
Extreme Package (CC) at 10am
Palo Tea Sunday at 3pm
Palo Dinner Monday at 6pm
Palo Brunch Thursday at 11:30am

She said that she forgot to submit between her picks until she was almost done. She still got everything and I have confirmation numbers. So, that was good! She did a great job. Between the two cruises, we'll be eating at Palo six times!

90 days and counting!!! actually 83 days since we are on the 8/8 cruise too. I'm actually working in Florida (Tallahassee) for the week before the 8/8 cruise too....so I can really say 77 days....

Ed, you still have chances !!! :goodvibes

They keep tables for the non Castaway people ; try again at the 75 days mark, I am sure there will be a few seatings available.

And , in case you don't get it, run to Palo reservation desk as soon as you board the ship . A few places are kept available there.

Your last chance is to show up at Palo from time to time and keep asking : at times a table clears up and they will call you in your cabin !!!

Sorry to correct you but they do not release any more at 75 days, albeit some people may cancel and if booking private room about 30 days before cruise there will be cancelations.

But if you get to port early and go straight to where they are taking Palo ressies you will get one.

Well congratulations to all of you who did get what they want, and commiserations to those who had a frustrating night and didn't get what they want.

It is a painful process at times, and thats why, I repeated and repeated the process, to give everyone on this thread the best chance possible.

First thing, this shows, is there is a considerable amount of people on this cruise, but maybe not posting on this thread, giving us a false sense of security.

I said Brunch Sunday am will go in seconds, and it did, that means there is a lot of people out there!!!

Second thing is that horrible 00.00 log in, I know from 2008 Panama cruise, logging in at 11:59:59, will loose you 20 odd minutes. You get those error messages and hitting refresh on the browser of your PC will not work.

It thinks you are there but you cannot access your reservation.

Anyway on Palo all is not lost.

Main option get to the port early say for 10am get a low boarding card and go straight to where they are taking Palo ressies. This is often Rocking Bar D, but I have done it in other places, check your welcome onboard navigator.

Some ressies for Palo, most likely Brunch will come up at 30 days ( or just before), This is when the Private room at Palo is confirmed and those requesting that and being successful, will have to cancel their personal Palo brunch online booking.

No more Palo reservations are released at 75 days.

Anyway, whatever happens everyone will still have a great cruise.

Yes that is correct, about 35 days> 30 days keep an eye out a few say 14 for each sea day for brunch will come up.

Then they hold back 50% of slots for onboard booking. But they will go fast....

Ed and Mulan,
We couldn't get a brunch either. And Sean was on right at midnight. Oh well. We'll try to check periodically before the cruise and again at the port to see if something opens up. We'll be there early anyway on the 15th so we might have a chance. But I'm happy that we were able to get a dinner without any problems!! :goodvibes (and maybe that's telling me that instead of being at brunch on a sea day, I should be on the treadmill in the gym....:lmao:)

In signing up the kids for their programs, we were only able to sign up DD9. There wasn't a link to sign DS14 up for the Stack. Is that how it works - they just show up and whoever is there, that's the group? Any additional accountability? This is our first experience with the Stack so I am unfamiliar with it. And I know that DD9 wants to be moved up to the next age group for the Clubs. I read that the age groupings are 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. I don't know if that is still accurate or whether it changes based upon the numbers of kids in different age groups on each cruise. She'll turn 10 about a week after the cruise ends; she'd prefer to be with kids in her grade rather than those that are a year behind her in school. Anyone have any experience with asking for something like that?

We also signed up for the Dubloon Sail & Snorkel in St Thomas. The reviews I've read about that sound like it should be alot of fun.

Have a great day everyone. And kudos to those that were lucky enough to get all they wanted!!!

Hi Everyone!

This will be #4 for us - and just the start of many more!

We're Ben, Jenny and Lily (DD6) - from the Madison, WI area.

We'd love to meet up prior to cruise time with anyone from southern WI or northern IL with kids the same age so that we can immediately go into play mode when we get on board.

We'll be flying into MCO on Friday about noon and then staying at the Doubletree Oceanside ($99 a night - on the ocean - can't beat it).

Let's start the countdown, everyone!

Yes with the kids you only have to register kids up to the age of 11 online after that they come and go as they please, 8 upwards you have the option to let them come and go if you wish. DCL will have a list so they can just turn up.

Andrew,

In this case I wasn't logged in before midnight. It was 00:00 35 am .
I actually was able to log in at that time. I had a palo brunch for 11:30 am on sunday checked, but when I went to submit the system indicated their was a problem. I tried to submit multiple times after the message and kept getting system error.

I them made the mistake of logging out and tried to get back on the system. That is when the message came.

The system must of thought I was still logged in or linked with someone who was. It took 40 minutes at that point for the system allowed me to log in again.

So you see I wasn't logged in early, but a victim of more people on the system then it could handle.

It's ok, as I would have been only making as brunch for one, as Beth has it in her mind that Palo is too fancy for her tastes and would not have gone anyway.

I got most of what I wanted and may keep looking in case something opens up, but if it doesn't I will not be making that made dash on embarkation day.

It's not that important to me. Just frustated at Disney. There was problems in 2006 for the group I was with due to heavy volume on the site.

You would have thought by now in the last 3 years Disney would have
upgraded the system to handle the volume

Oh well not the end of the world and it still will be a great cruise.

I have just added the Exotic Rasul successfully but when I am trying to amend my Flounders hours I keep getting error 500 saying they are having a system error. At the moment all our activities where we need Flounders are covered so it doesn't matter but it is annoying so I really feel your frustration when it was doing it to you when you were trying to make your brunch reservation.

Hi Jude,
which Doubloon did you get? We'll be on the early morning one - that's fine with me! Hope to see you there!:thumbsup2

Ed, I was having the same problem w/ Palo's - it would show as available, but when I tried to reserve, it would say there was a "problem". So frustrating as the clock was ticking away. I do believe you all will still be able to get in - fingers crossed!

I think the mistake is letting folks pre-register for BOTH dinner and brunch. It would open up more opportunities for everyone if you had to decide which one to PRE-register for, and then you can try to reserve additional once onboard. Brunch would still be at a premium, of course, because of the limited availability, but I do believe it would help.

Phooey - rain here cancelled our baseball tournament for today. We'll do something fun today, but baseball has suffered due to weather this season. DS plays on a year round "travel" team, and games are only on weekends. So if it's rained out, that's it, no make ups. Boo Hoo!:sad2:

Maybe we'll go see Star Trek!:3dglasses

I think therefore too many people 'hit' Palo branch as you had logged in at 00:00 35 and that bounced you out , I understand what you say aobut the Website, but no matter how you programme it there are 138 seats in Palo for each meal, and thats the complete max so say 50% on the internet lets say 70 seats, and 875 Cabins, ok some 105 booked and some 75 days to go, but basically if you say 2 Adults per room then there is a 5% availability online.

What they need is bigger ships (coming) with larger, or more than one Palo type place to book.

My suggestion you are allowed to book your preference for Palo as you book the cruise, or paid in full.

Anyone see this video of these teens on the Magic::

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIbnnFI4vjs&feature=related

I would lock my kids up in the cabin if they ever thought they would behaive this way on the ship...Where were their parents?????

I have seen this video a few times here since 2006, the kids I think play up to being filmed, plus maybe parents though they were in The Stack?

We did have bad behavior on our 2008 cruise, we actually got it bad with Ally and AJ next door with kids mainly young boys calling our phone, or knocking on the door asking for them. From what the Girls had said on stage, the location of their room, was quite easy to work out.

The exact same thing happened to me. I logged in at 12:02 so I was actually in and chose one of the Palo brunch and it wouldn't go thru. I did the same thing with logging out too. Oh well, DH says no matter what we'll still have a graet time.
Andrew, thanks for the info about the 5% probibility of actually getting a ressie. No wonder it's so difficult!

Yes when you think of a 5% success rate then you can see how hard it is to get Palo, but, if you get to the port at 10am and get a low boarding card, and go straight to Palo reservations you should get one, remember 50% still to be allocated.

Sunday brunch was always going to be the one everyone wanted also being first sea days of the cruise, and the traditional day to have a brunch.

I guess, so many people hit the same think it bounced out an unlucky few.

Do look out around 35>30 days as about 14 will cancel for each of the sea days. Re Private room bookings. They cannot hold two.

I think we are on a high 'repeat' CC member cruise they will confirm that onboard, and at the CC club meeting. On another thread I have been told on a cruise in June you can still book Palo now.

This booking has followed the same issues as the 8/17 Panama crossing last year, similar time, different port, no repos this year.

But on that one there was warnings as the cruise meets thread had many subscribers, and another thread on another site equally active.

If I missed you or made a mistake, feel free to let me know. I am a bit sleepy today.

Ed & Marie - Added you to our lanyard list! We are almost there!

For anyone who is interested, we are ordering lanyards with personalized imprinting for our cruise. My goal is to order these by JUNE 5th....let me know if you want some!

Well, I am off to lacrosse and a few errands! Talk with you all later!

Andrew - Hmmm, not sure why you don't see it.

Try using this link:

http://web.me.com/jenbanderson/Cruise/Hot_Topic.html

If it still doesn't work, try clearing your cookies and logging in fresh.

You should see HOT TOPICS in the top section on every page. From there, scroll a ways down. You will see the link for Palo. Click on Palo and you should see all the reservations on the right side of the page.

Let me know if it still is not working for you.

Okay - Really have to leave for Ben's lacrosse...I will be home later!

Thats nice, last year when we had ''issues'' on the Panama crossing, online booking I posted about these, it was picked up by a very nice person and I received a booking on my cruise plans that day.

I leave the names out and wouldn't post this on the main forum, as once its been done once, other people will expect it or bombard them with requests, but just to say its worth it.

Andrew,

I am not trying to get anyone into trouble or anything of the sorts.

I know Ed had some trouble as did some others on here myself included. But I was not intersted in booking Palo's that just does not interest me. Apparently, there was a code that some ressies had that was entered wrong into the system that is what I was told early this morning as well as what my TA was told. So it was all taken care of ....

We need 15 more lanyards to keep it right at $2.00. I am going to go on the lanyard company web site and double check all the details again though.

I think that ending both the lanyards and the FE sign-up on the 5th is fine. Do you think that is too late? BTW, we have a new family that sent me an e-mail so I will send you a PM with their info for the FE.

I called them a little while ago, not so much to correct the problems from last night as much just to report the problems I had.

The rep did indicate that all palo brunch slots are filled, but I knew that before I called. Some dinner slots are still available but dinner for one dosen't sit well with me.

Not much they can do for me, other than report the promblems I and others had.

As I said its not the end of the world and its still gonna be a great cruise.

I think there was a big website crash a while back and Jen re did several things and rebuilt the site and the password was changed to all lower case. The version you are seeing is the old site which I still get from my favourites links - the rebuilt site including all the hot topics is accessed via Jens signature link and that has the same user name and password but everything lower case.

Special thank you to Andrew Derek for his easy instructions on booking online. I booked online in 2006 and was shut out from some of the things I wanted such as the Brunch. I will be coming in Palo not long after you @7, unless we cancel it. DH isn't sure he wants to go! When I made the ressie I forgot to put his name in there. I called DCL and the lady I spoke to said that it was a table for 2. I hope she was right. Does anyone know if this is right? I hope so.
My excursions are: Tue-Baths
Wed-Butterfly Secrets and Mountain Views
Palo
Fri-Parasailing @ 2:30
From what I've seen on your website a lot of us will be doing the same excursions!

I will add your information to the web site when I work on it again (probably Tuesday or Wednesday). I would not let DH cancel out - we loved :lovestruc the dinner at Palo last time. Yep, your table would be for 2. Can't you go back in and edit your reservation to add him?

I tried to go back and edit it, but it looked like I was rebooking it and That one was grayed out anyway. So I just backed out of it. I was afraid of meesing up what I had. We have the early dinner and I was wondering if we would have time to go to that with Ds (put him in the club) and then go to Palo. How long does Palo take? Would we be able to make it to the show?

i would say yes you could do Palo at 7pm and still make the show at 8:30pm. Perhaps when you are seated mention to your server that you don't want to rush your dinner but that you do want to make the second show. I am sure they would be able to pace your meal accordingly.

Hi All,

Here is the response I received from Palo Dining on any changes needed.

"We encourage you to continue to check www.DisneyCruise.com for availability to book and/or modify a reservation to Palo. The availability fluctuates, and a Palo reservation may become available online, prior to your cruise.

Otherwise, we encourage you to visit the Palo Dining Session on day of embarkation. The Palo Dining Session is held from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m., in Rockin Bar D's. (Located on Deck 3, forward.)"

Interesting message. Someone had posted the Navigators from the April Tortola cruise and the "Welcome Aboard" sheet stated that Palo reservations could be made "Upon boarding - 3:30 p.m." I know they have changed this practice from time to time, but I think it wiser to get to the port early and get on board as early as possible (usually around 11:45 a.m. or noon) and head directly to Rockin' Bar D and stand in line. My experience in the recent past is that they open up the Palo dining reservations upon boarding, not at 1:00 p.m.

I agree, we will probably get in early since we are staying at the beach the night before and go straight to Rockin D Bar.

Jenn, if you are updating we (my immediate family) are doing the Jost Van **** Beach day excursion in Tortola. A woman I work with did a sailing vacation around the islands and said Jost Van **** was beautiful. I didn't want to miss out on getting a "pain killer" at the Soggy Dollar either! Our friends are doing a Dolphin encounter on their own.

In St. Thomas we booked our own 1/2 day Snorkel trip since we have a 4 year old in our group and Disney has a minimum age 5.

CIAO all !!!
How is your week ??
Here days are so hectic ... I can hardly "reach" my PC !

but it's so relaxing reading about the excursions everyone has booked or thinks of !!! :hippie::hippie:

Here we have HOT Summer days / blue sky : it's a shame I am most of the time indoor - at school !!!

I'm reading here and there lots of info about the BVI : they look BEAUTIFUL and very interesting too !!! Can't wait to visit !!!!

Have to say ... though ... that I'm rather "warm" about St. Thomas ; do you know why all the land tours (but one ) have been discontinued ?? bad service ? "local" troubles ? ... :confused3
I'm not very excited about this port of call ... Any thoughts ??

Ciao , have a nice day / evening , laura :grouphug:

Its normally Rocking Bar D but do check as I have on one cruise gone to Palo itself for ressies and changes.....

Do it on boarding only, all gone in a reasonable time.

Possible but a rush, the WDT opens at 8pm so seats go at that time, Palo dinner is not one to rush, so allow 90 mins> 120 mins.

Tip arrive early say 15 mins @ Palo they will accomodate you

I do remember that on one of my earliest cruises, Palo changes were made in the Palo restaurant; however, since they started using the multiple wireless laptop system a few years back, they seem to have changed to Rockin' Bar D/Wavebands so that there is a central location for Palo and main dining room assignments/rotation changes. In any event, the "Welcome Aboard" sheet will state where to go, just get in line as early as possible and you shouldn't have much (if any) trouble.

On my cruise in 2007 they moved back from Rocking Bar D back to Palo, so only a year back, and that was with the wireless Laptop system.

In 2008 it was Rocking bar D, my point was to say check the location before the run.

Interesting, Andrew. I wonder if it had anything to do with that being an 11-day Med cruise? (More reservations available or more anticipated time to make those reservations involved perhaps? I see that the time was extended all the way until 4:00, which appears half an hour later than usual too.) I guess we'll see in 88 short days.

Yes, might be the Med, might, be special cruises, not sure why it switches now and again. Now it has been Rocking Bar d for the last year. so a good chance thats it, my point is read the navigator, as you might have worked out your Sprint and route to Rocking Bar D, do it on autopilot, and find out everyone else has gone to Palo.

I think it also has something to do with where the concierge welcome aboard meeting is held, maybe they swap, as currently thats on embarkation in....Palo..

Thankfully, no "Palo Sprint" for us this time. The Midnight Reservation Fairies smiled on me over the weekend and I was able to secure a Palo brunch for Monday at 11:00 and a Palo dinner for Thursday (Lobster Day?!) at 6:30. What is becoming clearer over the years, however, is that there are many more Castaway Club members out there now who set their 90-day calendars and jump on the internet.

On my first Magic cruise back in August of 1999 (a four-day! - coincided with the Wonder's maiden voyage and the two ships met bow-to-bow for fireworks at Castaway Cay) DW and I just stumbled upon Palo. No pre-boarding reservations were necessary, or even accepted. The maitre d' explained that for an extra $5, we were welcome to eat there, and "pick a table, any table." My, how the internet has changed things :rotfl:

:confused3 It seems that many people have access to the schedule of events, i.e Pirate night, shows and showtimes, Captain's Dinner, Character Breakfast, etc.

Are you finding that information on the DCL website or is there some other source? Any insight as to where I would find that detail would be greatly appreciated. :worship::worship:

I missed some shows last time that I have sworn to myslef to catch this time around.

If you wait, about 10:00 PM tonight on our web site will be a .pdf with Navigators from the 1st Tortola Cruise this spring. We are assuming our cruise will have things on the same days and at the same time.

Look on the HOT TOPIC page and it will be there! It is great to read through it all and plan! I have already printed all 50+ pages out and have been highlighting and taking notes at night!
