Building Work at Animal Kingdom Lodge

We have just returned from our 6th trip to WDW staying at the CSR. We are looking to book for August 2009, staying in the AKL to take advantage of the free DDP offer. We have heard from a friend who has stayed there recently that building work is going on and a number of guests were complaining about it. Does anybody know when the building work is due to finish and how badly it affects the hotel guests. I have even heard that the animals are being moved out for a few months whilst the noisier work goes on. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry don't know any details of their plans but can tell you what it was like last weekend, we stayed Fri-Mon. Could see the building work from our balcony, pic below, although can't see the distance as I had a 300mm zoom on. Not in room that much but one afternoon while getting changed heard slight noise in the distance, presumed it came from the building work but certainly nothing to bother anyone.

it opens in phases.. the first being next May I believe. I have not heard that any of the animals are being moved out whilst the noisy bits happen.. i would have thought the noisiest bits would have happened already.. but i cant claim to be an expert of building practice :)

We stayed in April this year and the noise didnt bother us at all....

That was the reason we didn't book there for our October trip this year.

I think it's due to go on until April next year.
