This is from a comment from Princessrunner (Lisa).
I posted some times (below) for yesterday's long run, and had commented that the dramatic improvement in the last two miles was because the theme song for the ultimate fighter popped on my I-Pod (set to random play) and I all of a sudden I found more energy.
Today was 11 miles, 1:44:26, 9:30 mpm average.
Splits were:
1 10:53
2 9:50
3 9:59
4 9:20
5 9:43
6 8:59
7 9:16
8 9:37
9 9:19
10 8:28
11 8:57
SO, what is your Power Song?
Mine appears to be "The Ultimate Fighter" theme music...

Gonna sound really strange here but, it is Drum Cadences from an Ohio State University Marching Band CD :cool1:
The cadences are awesome and my DS is a member of the percussion section so he is playing on the CD and obviously doing the cadences ;)
This track is actually track 1 of a 2 part "power" set I have on my Ipod. The 2nd track is the Ohio State Fight Song from the same CD but in that one my DH who is the band's announcer, does the intro so I get his revved up voice announcing the band and then they kick in with my DS playing :yay:
They are perfect for my starts and final kicks. It's a Buckeye thing, but I am doubly blessed by my talented men :lovestruc

I can never listen to The Final Countdown the same after my Arrested Development marathon over vacation!
I have a few power songs
Ring of Fire
Lose yourself
Fight the power
Le Nozze Di Figaro
Rockafellar Skank
Bohemian Rhapsody
Some of my 9 year old daughter's favorite hip hop stuff that I would never be caught dead listening to if I was not running (and I will never admit it out side of the forum!)
I could go on....

"Dreams" by Van Halen
Yes that's my power song too.
I have a few zippy tunes on my shuffle too.
Devil in a Blue Dress
It's All Been Done
Dancing on the Ceiling - the mile 10 overpass during the 1/2, it really made my day to be on the over pass when that song came on and I knew I couldn't be swept and all the people that were BEHIND me.
I posted this video before of Dreams but it's a cool commercial:

Hope it works! Work hard, stay strong and we'll do it!

The inner punk in me emerges when I run. Blondie gets me moving faster and so do the Violet Femmes. However, if I REALLY need to kick in and get a run finished then I keep hitting the forward button until I get to the Black Eyed Peas.
This is only strange when you know that my ipod is filled with Jars of Clay and Mercy Me and oodles of other Christian hymns and artists.....
Absolute best song for me is "Find your wings" by Mark Harris. I will not stop running while that song is playing.

My "official" iPod power song is I'm Shipping to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys but I have noticed that the song that really gets me running well is 30/30-150 by Stonesour. :cool1:
