This weekend my DH and DSS have been sitting down and planning when we are all going to be going to WDW next as a family
DSS can't go next year as he is doing his final exams (GCSE's) and will be starting college in Sept 09.
So we are planning on going in May 2010 or Sept 2010.......is this crazy to plan this far in advance???
No, because as soon as you come home for your September vacation it will be time to start planning again!

I'm planning on running the Disney Half Marathon in Jan. 2010. I'll make the reservations early 2009 when I register for the race!

Heck no it's never too early to plan! We got back from our second family trip in May...buying our first house the month we got back distracted me for a bit but I'm jumping right back on the disboards bandwagon. Not sure how DH feels about that... :rolleyes1
We (OK, I) am currently trying to decide whether we can afford a trip in 2009 or wait till 2010. My twins are strongly in favor of the 2009 trip but I don't know if my checkbook is...

I know how you feel! I am going for the first time in May 2009 and I am so freaking excited! I have been reading books and info on the internet like it is next week. My DH is telling me to calm down and save some of the excitement for the actual trip!
So you are definitely not alone :)

My mom and I started planning my son's first trip to WDW a few months before he was born (he was born 12/2005). :) We're not going until next December ('09). Originally we weren't going to go until December 2010, but we just can't wait that long.

Not at all! I just talked with my folks the other day about them coming along with us to WDW in Jan or Feb 2010... we'll hammer out more details when they arrive at our house from Oregon in 2 weeks. We have 3 Disney trips in '09 in planning stage now - so what's the big deal about adding '10 to the mix? Plus we know we'll be heading west both years, so add a DL trip in summertime - and there you go. 4 trips for '09 and 2 for '10 ... at this point... :rotfl2: Never mind that we're leaving in 42 days for a split stay at BWV/AKV for 9 days. :woohoo:

We are going Dec 08...so anytime in 2009 will be too close for us...not for me but, for my pocketbook.
I have finally convinced my brother and sister in law to join us...for them 2010 works, as well. Initially, we were thinking August. Before the kids go back to school and before high school sports tryouts...thinking ahead to my DD being in HS. She's only a 7th grader this year. So, we finally came up with dates...10 days at the Poly. We were so excited...I even started a ticker. We were at 22 months and 2 weeks. And then, about a week ago we started talking about Christmas at Disney. Now, we're thinking about ditching the August plan and trying to figure out a Christmas week at Disney...which is over two years away. It would need to be over Christmas itself...we have only done the very "unbusy" the weeks leading up to Christmas. Not sure I want to get into the middle of actual Christmas at Disney...thinking maybe 12/26 through New Year's. Still trying to narrow down a month. But, no it is never too early to start planning.

Not crazy at all - we've been planning our big family trip for Oct 2009 since early 2006, and DH just gave me the go-ahead to plan a solo trip at Christmas time, and I'm thinking it will be in 2010 :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

My grandmother and I have been kicking around April 16, 2010 ever since April 16, 2008.
Long story short, I'm an accounting major. I worked tax season at a lovely firm :lovestruc and they asked me to work tax season there for 2009. I just received a job offer from them ( !) and so I figure I won't be able to leave until tax season is over :rolleyes1 The more I thought about it, I realized it probably wouldn't be April 16, I can only imagine how many of them take off :rotfl2:

Our "hopeful" next trip will fall between Sept. and Nov./Dec. 2009. I'm already planning.
We are hoping to hit a few other places other than Disney this time, so that's why I am starting now. Am hoping to even invite a few others along on this trip (it's normally 4 of us). So due to the extra bodies, more planning to do. I want their first trip to the area to be as flawless as possible.
