View Full Version : Would it be a good idea if Pete balanced the ticket a little bit?

I absolutely love the podcast. I also feel like a kid each Wednesday morning, going on a long car trip, and asking; Are we there yet? Are we there yet, as I click the refresh button on the internet website. It seems to me that it might be a good idea if Pete would add someone to the Podcast Team that has a lot of experience traveling with, and entertaining small children at the world. The vast majority of people come to the World with children, and many of those are small. It would be just a different point of view, and an experience level that seems to be missing. I expect to be killed for suggesting such an idea.

Julie is doing her part to balance the ticket. Give them a little time and we will have the input of young parents :-)

Heck,

I loved the review of CRT.
What a brilliant idea to offer a reward for writting a great review.

The young ladies were honest, well spoken, authentic/genuine.

I am new to the boards,
but this was my first experience with a young persons point of view shared on the podcast.

The podcast can be PG at times.
I would never want to lose that guilty pleasure for the more G rated content that I can find on the boards.

Thanks guys for what do you.

I agree with all of you, and let me just say I would be an excellent candidate :rotfl2:

I want to apply for the position! I am certain that I would have hilarious material to provide the podcast with. My neurotic Disney mom nature in combination with my little mouseketeers makes for some very entertaining circumstances when we go to WDW. Pete, I'll be waiting for your phonecall . . . :rolleyes1

I like it just the way it is. I know that Julie and Corey already put in the "young couples" aspect, and will soon put in the "young parents" viewpoint. I think that's plenty.

I like the PG aspect way too much to push it too far towards the G. It would ruin the flavor.

I'm a little confused:confused: . Are you all talking about having a child on the podcast? I thought the request was just for a parent. Why would having a parent of young children on the podcast make the show "G rated"? There seem to be lots of funny things that happen to my family that would probably end up with a "PG rating," and it is not as if the one parent would dominate the entire show. Plus, just having a parent on the podcast wouldn't mean that the show would all of the sudden have a child audience. I think that people can have a PG sense of humor even after they have children. If they can't,then I have been living under a massive delusion for quite some time.:upsidedow

Our newest team member, Teresa Echols will be helping out with what I refer to as the "Mommy Gap" on the show. Teresa's kids are 6, 13 and 18 so she has a good grasp on all the age groups. Her first appearance on the show will be on our September 10th episode when we discuss the start of this years MNSSHP.

Thanks,
Pete

Let me restate this for clarity...I wasn't clear.
I like the adult focus. I know they weren't suggesting a child on the panel, but a parent. Corey and Julie will soon be parents, and can serve in that capacity. Adding more parents would change the balance, which is what I would rather didn't happen. I like the balance as it is.

I'm a parent. I'm pretty far from "G". I don't think that parents are necessarily "G". But if you have a group of parents of young children, they are going to want to discuss primarily their children, and focus on the child aspect of a trip to WDW. Now, there is NOTHING wrong with this! WDW is set up for families, and is their primary target audience, therefore, a podcast devoted to family trips to WDW is very appropriate.

Thanks for the info, Pete!
I loved the CRT review from the young ladies point of view. And I can't wait to hear Teresa added to the crew. It's always nice to have different reviews from different POVs. I think I've learned from everyone here.
Looking forward to your 1st appearance, Teresa!

I think you have a good mix with the crew. Bob used to talk about his grand kids alot, Julie has her sisters perspective, and Pete speaks of his neice and her trips. I dont really feel it is lacking but I am sure Teresa will be a great addition to the show. Cant wait to hear her!!!

As the OP stated a vast majority do come to WDW with kids. John has repeated his viewpoint many times on the podcast - stick the kids in the lockers at the front of the park. :) :) :) :)

I thought that advise was great and I even suggested it to my wife. She was not too thrilled about it.

All kidding aside, I think that podcast crew has done a very good job of getting information out for those that have children. I look forward to hearing from Teressa about MNSSHP.

Excellent; that's very good news for the show. By the way, is Teresa from the same Echols clan as Walter? For all I know, this has already been discussed somewhere.

I believe (or imagined) they have said multiple times on the show that it's indeed Walter's sister. :thumbsup2

That's great that there will be a stronger focus on traveling with kids. I think you all do a great job and this will just enhance the best podcast already.

My kids are 5 & 4 and have been going 2x a year since they were 6 months old. So, Theresa, if you need to round out any segment with the under 5 crowd, PM me and I'll help in any way I can. So many young families visit WDW and are completely clueless. It's info on sites and podcasts like this that can make all the difference. Kudos to the podcast team for seeing this market and working it into the show! I look foward to Theresa's experiences, especially now that my children are getting older.

I have been listening to the Podcast since February of 2007 [so I feel I am qualified to say this]. The loss of Bob to the show has been huge, but I see no reason to go and drastically change the chemistry of Crew. Why must we always fix what isn't broke? There are plenty of other Podcasts where the information the OP seeks can be found. ;)
