Someone in Julie's condition shouldn't look at Thomas Kinkade.
It could harm the baby. :woohoo:

Oh, gag a maggot on a gut wagon!!!
Okay, I'd never heard this either and so turned to our friend Google for help.
Julie's post is already the second-highest reference to that phrase.
According to a Yahoo question/answer board, that odd phrase was a variant of the more familiar Valley-speak "Gag me with a spoon." I'm not sure that answer is correct, however, because the phrase also shows up in a list of phrases included as part of a Utah State University Student Folklore Genre Collection (see http://library.usu.edu/folklo/folkarchive/speech.htm).
It shows up as part of a list of "favorite country sayings" on the Dilbert blog: (see http://dilbertblog.typepad.com/the_dilbert_blog/2007/08/coal-can-you-di.html) (many of these are crude or irreverent at best, insulting at worst, so ye be warned).
It's also included in a similarly-risque list of "Redneck Words of Wisdom" (see http://www.redneckwordsofwisdom.com/sayings.html)
My conclusion, then, is that the saying is probably one of those that Julie learned while attending charm school somewhere deep in the bayou, and through the magic of the Internet is now sharing with the rest of the world. :rotfl2:

I have been using this my whole life! It was commonly used growing up in Louisiana!
Side note: if it is only mildly gross, I cut the phrase in half and just say, "Gag a maggot!"

I know that I am new to the boards, but I am confused.
I am trying to understand the joke. I am not familiar with Thomas Kincade's work, but this seems to be a very nicly done rendition of Snow White discovering the cottage in the woods.
Does miss Julie really dislike Kincade's work or something.
Please help.

Hi Figment 74,
First, let me say welcome aboard the boards.
Several months back, one of our listeners asked that one us of go to the Thomas Kincade event at the Grand Floridian. No one else volunteered, so I agreed to go. The listener wanted one of Mr. Kincade's pieces and it would only be available at the event.
This whole thing had a touch of humor, as I am not a fan of Mr. Kincade's work. This wasn't changed by attending the event.
When discussing the event, Julie had a very strong negative reaction to Mr. Kincade and his "art".
While Mr. Kincade has a very loyal and devoted following, there are some that feel his work is derivative, repetitive and schlocky. (It's not hard to figure out to which group I belong.)
As art is a truly subjective term, there is no right or wrong here. If you like it...great......if you dont...great.
The joke here is that Julie, (along with many others), doesnt like the work of Thomas Kincade, so the whole thread was meant to be "tongue in cheek" and humorous.

It's a chat-established fact that Kevin dislikes "Cottage Cheese." This is just one example... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
