The weather today is very nice. Hot...but nice. with a beautiful blue sky and big, white, fluffy clouds.

As for hurricanes and tropical storms.....it seems there are a couple out there. Whether they affect central Florida or not is to be seen.

As you can imagine, hurricanes are BIG NEWS in Florida and beginning in early summer, they talk about them all the time. When there is a possibility of one approaching, it becomes the TOP story and the news channels play that awful "crisis" music and start talking in overly dramatic tones.

When a hurricane starts approaching, they start showing what are known as "models of the projected path". While I am sure that there is some sort of scientific basis in these projections, they are also known as "sphagetti models" and for good reason. There are a dozen or more projections and they can go in every possible direction. It's not until a storm gets muich closer that these models usually come together and truer picture seen.

After the projected path is narrowed, they then show what they call the cone which is an even narrower projection. Folks in Florida understand the phrases "Florida is in the center of the cone" or better yet "Florida is not in the cone".

I realize that we have actual meteorologists that post on this board....and I'm sure they are shaking their fists and thinking "we dont do restaurant reviews...why is he doing weather reports?" but this is just to give you an idea of what happens.

The bottom line is that we wont know what any storm will do or where it will go until it gets much closer.

We are headed to the Crystal Coast which is the southern most tip of the Outer Banks. We own a timeshare there. We are lucky that we live 2 hours from the Nags Head part of OBX, this area we are heading to on the other hand is about 5 1/2 hours.

So far satelitte card is hanging in there but these roads are bumpy for typing LOL.. John says we should pull in to the TS at about 8:30 - 9:00 grrr I will miss chat that would mean since we have to unpack car and all... Wonder how many potty stops I can make him do to prolong arrival so I don't miss chat before he gets suspicious or just refuses to stop :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
