:( There was 4 of us myself, hubby, 2kids, (5yr old and 9 month old)
We just got back from a Member Getaway yesterday. We stayed at the DIVI Little Bay Beach Resort (St. Maarten). We were a little disappointed with this resort when we checked in. First off, When we checked in they help everyone at the same time. There isn't any order. Second, you had to wait for someone to drive you up the hill ( we had a 1 bedroom in the last building up the hill) to get to your room. Third, the outside of the buildings were in terrible shape. You can see paint (big pieces) peeling off the buildings. This resort is not maintained or clean like a DVC resort. The Interior of the room was dirty. It was wall to wall tile. I didn't mind that, but the floor was dirty. We wore our shoes/socks to walk around the room. If you walked barefoot, you would end up with dirty feet. We used the Jacuzzi in the room only to wash our feet, the water was so full with iron that my daughter thought it was urine coming out and wouldn't take a bath in it. Taking a shower was different because you couldn't see it so she was ok with that. She is five. After awhile you would see rust floating in the water of the jacuzzi. There was hardly any decor in the room. The kitchen stunk. A lot of things were rusted in the kitchen. We did ask the front desk to have housekeeping clean, but that never happened. I bought some bleach and wiped it down myself. Don't ask for a washcloth here either, you won't get it. You have to hunt down housekeeping and beg. There is also no dishwasher, or a washer/dryer in the room. We had to hike down the hill to do laundry and we had to pay for it also. You have to wash your dishes by hand. If you don't have the dishes cleaned when you leave you are charged a $25 housekeeping fee. There is also a fee for a crib $10 a day, but we brought our own. Some other fees are $50 Timeshare fee, gov tax, towel charge $50 deposit refunded when you return the towel cards, Electric Surcharge, we had to pay $10, $20 per person airport departure fee for people over age 2. The main swimming pool wasn't maintained either. Looked like it needed resurficing. Another thing, our ressie said 1 king bed and one queen sofa. Well, the front desk said there aren't any king beds at this resort. We weren't the only ones complaining about this. What we had was a double bed and a queen sofa. We know it was a double, because was have a queen at home. On the last night we got a "kick out" letter that said to be out by 11am ( we knew this already) or you will be charged $100 a hour after 11. This was in bold print. This resort also had a lot of stray cats. They would come and beg off of you while you were eating lunch at the cafe by the main pool. It wasn't just this resort though, the whole Island has a problem taking care of its animals. I saw starving dogs on the road also. Being a animal lover this was disturbing. Everyone also drives around the island like a maniac. Seems like there are no rules. Also if you are a non-smoker like me, you will not like this island, there is no separation between smoking and non-smoking. Even the rooms are all smoking at the resort. Other then these things, we did like looking at the beach and the Disney Magic in Port. We won't be going to this resort again though. Cost was 196 pts for this resort 1bdr.
