All those blobs out in the Atlantic on the NOAA website has me scared of the weather. What's the best way to take photos and keep the camera as dry as possible? I wondered about putting some kind of plastic around it but then that might just keep the moisture in. I have a Canon XTI. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

I do this all the time. My method is probably not highly recommended though. I keep my xti under my rain jacket/poncho until I want to take pictures, then hopefully, I'm under an umbrella, brim of my hat, edge of a roof or something and take the picture then wipe off any moisture.

It's pretty dry here and our rain is usually not the downpours that you get in other areas. If it's really wet, I also have a bag that is waterproof that will fit over the camera and has camera clarity through one side of the bag (it's supposed to work underwater, but I'm chicken).

If you're interested in that, I'll go find it so I can give you the brand name. Pretty sure I got it off of a travel website like magellans or travel smith.

Takes great pictures in the rain- or under water for that matter. ;)

You can use the Wilcad patent pending rain poncho. http://************/image_cameraponcho.shtml

I used it going down Splash Mountain. Works great.

I was looking for the answer to this question too. I was considering buying those horrid disposable underwater cameras -- but I guess $199 is not bad for an alternative that will give me much better photos.

What kind of battery does this use?

It comes with its own battery and a charger.

Excellent. This seems promising.
