We actually CHOSE late seating with our 3-year old.

I thought we could take full advantage of the daytime activities and if Clare was too tired she could go to the club while we ate.

Should I rethink this. Someone posted about eating dinner at 8:45, yikes!!

Do you want to eat dinner with your child? If so, early seating is much better, in my opinion. If you plan on having her in the club for dinner most evenings, or if you want to feed her room service or other counter service dinner and then put her in the club, you'll be fine with late seating.

Late seating was a total disaster with my daughter the one time we had to take it. She is 8, and just wanted to go to the club every night when they had the fun activities...late seating dinner meant she didn't eat until 9:00 and then one of us would take her to the club as soon as she wolfed down her dinner. Not exactly relaxing. We also had to get her a snack every afternoon late, as there was no way she could go from noon till 9:00 without a meal. We did let her eat in the club several evenings as she was happier doing so, but we did also want to have a FEW family dinners. Late seating made that much more difficult.

We have late seating also, with daughters 9 and 6. Are there special activities taking place in the clubs at night that only take place during that time? I don't want them to miss out on anything. Thanks!

We had the late seating on the Christmas cruise with a DD12 and DD4. It was fine for everyone except the 4 yr old. Dinner didn't end some nights until 10:15 and she was just way too tired by the time she got to bed. Then the early announcements would start in the am or going on an early excursion and she was exhausted. She was sick by the end of the cruise.

She loved the club! But with a young one I would have much preferred the early dinner. The shows were great and appealing to all ages. We took full advantage of all the daytime activities and it seemed like we still had to be ready for the evening shows before dinner anyway.

This was just my opinion, hope it helps you.

We chose late seating last year with our 3 year old twins thinking it would be a good idea. We eat late due to DH work schedule and with the time change we'd be eating around the same time as we usually eat. Boy were we wrong! Our kids were either cranky or fell asleep at dinner. I had horrible indigestion the first 2 nights and had to stay up extra late walking around so I could burn off some of those rich dinners. We chose early seating this time. Even though we feel a little more rushed getting to early dinner, I'd rather be more relaxed after.

and even at that time, he fell asleep at the table on one or two nights. He was not interested in the club for the most part, and when he did go it was after dinner.

We are going again this coming November (7 day) when ds#1 will be almost 5 and ds#2 will be 4 months. I will make ressies for the younger one to go to the nursery so that at the very least, the three of us can have a couple of meals together. Who knows, ds#1 might decide the club is a GOOD idea this time.

We had late dinner with my DSs(3.5 & 8 months), and my neices(7 &11). We only had a problem one night. 3.5 YO fell asleep during the show before dinner. He could have been out for the whole night since he didnt nap all day. But, we had to wake him up for dinner, and he wasnt in a good mood after that. We ended up trying to get our picture taken before dinner and had a major fiasco so we skipped the dining room that night.
To be honest, I wouldnt want early seating. If I were to go again with the kids, I would pick late, and hope for the best. Theres always room service if someone has an off night. :)

Alright, I am convinced. I called DU today and switched to early seating. Donna was shocked that we didn't have to be wait-listed. Our cruise must not be very full.

See all of those out there on the 10-19 cruise in EARLY seating.
