Just decided to post a thread where people can post random events happening in their life at the moment.
I just had my ears pierced! Yes at the grand old age of 19, i finally got up the courage to have it done.
Now i just have to clean them 3 times a day!
Whats going on in your life?

Aww Mindy, its gonna be ok!
Just change the locks and book a Disney Cruise, thats what my parents did! :rotfl:
Seriously, it will be ok, my parents said it felt odd for a while, but when I came back for the holidays, they wished i could stay at Uni all year!
How far away is the college?
I'm starting a new job next week, teaching Spanish at my old High School!
Nervous is an understatement!!

I'm passing a really boring time of my life, so I can't wait to get into Uni at end of September, you know... knowing other people, doing more things etc etc. So I'm anxious but excited of knowing that my life will change in a month or so radically:goodvibes
Ps. I was really scared last week, do you know what happened on Wednesday at the airport of Madrid? well my mom arrived on Monday at the airport of Madrid at the same time when and where the accident happened... Thank god she took the Monday airplane and not the one on Wednesday, so figure out how nervous I was... even though nothing happened (thank godness)

I am trying to find a house to buy. Not as easy as many people think. I've looked at over 20 so far. Many are still over priced for the area. Some are such dumps that it would take a sledgehammer and another pile of money to bring into a livable condition. The funniest part was that I had a mortgage pre-approval in less than 45 minutes. Somewhere out there, there is a house for me.:sad1: :sad1:

That's what they told me too, I didn't believe it until it happened! I found 2 that I really liked, but the last one, I LOVED! And the funniest thing was that it was not the type of home that I originally had in my head.

Quite a fun thread...
Right now in my life DH and I are trying for child #4; (already have DD12, DD9, & DS9 - not twins) trying to pay down some debt on our credit report to buy a house; trying to find a full-time elementary teaching job; (anybody hiring??) and at this exact moment as I type, I am roasting peppers and making tons of fresh pasta sauce to fill my mason jars :thumbsup2

Saturday me and DH celebrated our 5th anniversary. We watched the wedding video for the first time. We laughed at all the drunks at the reception especially the bride and groo.....oh that was us, anyhoo it was funny and kind of sad. Three people are no longer with us and couple are divorced. Oh and I am obcessively planning my WDW vacation for 2009.

We're getting ready to go to Washington, DC this weekend for one last quick summer get-away before the kids start school next week. My ds is excited, since the last time we were there he was a baby.
I'm going to miss summer. I'm not looking forward to getting up before dawn with my oldest ds. His bus is picking him up at 6:40 am!

Kids started school last week, so back to getting up early. I'm our PTO president, which means trying to get organized, which is not a good thing for me. Made some Disney plans this morning. Getting excited about December trip. I really love WDW and my DH. My two favorite things. And, I get to leave my other two favorite things behind DD10 and DD7. Dealing with family - I'm in the dog house because I went to my DD's soccer game instead of my sister's baby shower. Oh, and soccer. I own one coach and two soccer players.

My doggie has a little patch of gnawed skin on her tush-area. I'm not sure why so I'm watching it.
One of my best friends was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer about 2 months ago - he goes for another ct scan (and some "pet" scan) tomorrow to see if the chemo is holding it or (cross your fingers) making it recede. Honestly, that's all we can think about these days. He and his wife have been my best friends for about 11 years now and I just can't imagine this happening to a nicer couple - and he's only 44. ok - enough bad news ... please cross your fingers for some good news! We'll find out the results of the scans next week ... on their anniversary - ugh.
On a up note, I'll be in WDW in 96 days!

I'm getting ready for our Disney trip in less than two weeks! But first we have to go to the Renaissance Festival, get out to The Great Minnesota Get-Together (State Fair is here again!), celebrate two birthdays, get my hair cut and colored and get packed - without forgetting anything!
Very excited about the State Fair. It's HUGE and the food choices are unbelievable. If you are ever in Minnesota the ten days before Labor Day you need to go!

I want to play! This Labor Day weekend I'm taking the wife and son to Hilton Head. We are staying at the Disney resort. This is our last fling for summer. On a more serious note for today we have to take my son to the orthopedic office. He has something that they call a growth plate issue, it effects his legs. I feel so sorry for him right now he had to quit soccer for the time being and he absolutly loves soccer. Playing causes too much pain. He had plan on being on the Jv team at school this year.

Hmm... work is slow, which is why I'm on the Dis in the middle of the day. This weekend DH decided he could afford to be gone from work an extra day next month, so we added a night to our CS free dining trip. I had to book it at rack rate because that's all that was available. Today I looked and found an AP rate - saved $50 for the night!! Now of course I'm considering joining an Illuminations cruise or doing MNSSHP and spending more than the $$ I saved... :rotfl:
In real life, we're seriously considering adopting another fur baby - ours could use a buddy :dog: :dog: We found 1 we thought would be a good fit, but another family thought the same first. Glad he found a home!!

:cheer2: We are prepping for Saturday night at the GCH to watch our friend run the Disneyland Half Marathon. We'll also be cheering on the WISH team - I heard they were running in their lime green shirts:cheer2: . (Any other DISers reading this - let me know if you are running - PM me and we'll make sure to look for you and cheer! We'll be on the DTD route with a 3 yr old Tinkerbell on our shoulders.) :cheer2:
I am waiting for my book to be edited, homeschooling my three kiddos, wrapping soap part-time and preparing to speak at a women's retreat in a little over a month. Oh! And I am doing laundry . . . I am always doing laundry!:laundy:
You wrap soap? I make soap (as a hobby - but potentially as a business)! Just put up about 11 batches and have some more planned for next week. Have to get ready for Christmas! Is there a soap makers forum on the DIS?
Other than those things, I am optomistically going on job interviews (had one Friday and still am waiting to hear from ABC about the job their recruiter asked me to apply for), after being laid off my a major Disney sponsor corporation back in January. I'm happy for all the time I've had with my kids this year, since I know I'll find the right job, soon. My primary field is medical imaging (went to work for a vendor 8 years ago) and due to changing regulations, hospitals aren't hiring in my field, so coming back to the technical realm has been hard. I thought I might stay in the corporate realm instead of going back, so I started applying with Disney - which is just down the street - 1 mile away. Getting an interview with Disney is extremely difficult, but I've had two!

PET/CTscans are probably the best detections for that, so he's in good hands. There are some amazing hospitals that perform those in your state. That's part of my field of practice, so I can give you some assurance there. Best of luck to all of you.

We stayed there years ago and LOVED it!
 Good luck to your DS. My DD broke her growth plate in her right arm last year and it really stunk for her....but she healed up well.:thumbsup2

just went on a job interview today. I have a pretty good job (work from home when i want, great pay, good benefits, i work remotely, travel on occassion and help market cool thermal imaging and night vision equipment to save soldiers' lives etc.).....but the challenge is gone and not sure where the company is heading. So I started putting the word out through friends, old coworkers etc. I've been talking to this company for a month now, finally interviewed today for a Director of Marketing position which is a step up for me. It sounds promising and go back tomorrow for round 2. We will see where it goes. wish me luck.
FIRST thing i did- looked on the new job's website and saw they do quite a few tradeshows in Orlando- including one coming up at the Contemporary! I get to go to Orlando at least once a year on business, so at least I won't lose that perk. :rotfl: :wizard:
DS got his first tooth finally at 10 months!

All of the sudden DD turned into such a big girl! Now she wants to wear jewelry and picks out her own clothes. DS just doesn't need me like he used to, don't get me wrong I am happy they are healthy, well adjusted children, but there are the times I would like to be needed a little bit! I drop DD off at camp and she doesn't even turn to say goodbye to me anymore! But I would rather it be this way, there are so many parents in this world who don't have it this good!

Me???
My new phase is I am starting a major diet tomorrow. I say tomorrow because I have been under medical care for the past 4+ years and I had to wait to get my medical approval. While I was sick I couldn't exercise, or be very active at all....add to the fact that they gave me all these medicines that caused "some weight gain". So now I have to get back into my fighting shape.
I have my daughter's wedding in WDW next June and I can't look like I looked at my last daughters wedding!!!!

Congratulations on your new diet and your daughter's WDW wedding! :woohoo:
I'm about 2 weeks in on my new diet/exercise program. I would like to lose 20 lbs. or more by mid-December for health/personal reasons. Even though I really have to push myself to become more conscious of portion sizes, fat and calorie intake, and making sure to get at least 60 minutes of exercise each day, I've already lost 2 lbs. I'm also doing the Jeff Lewis thing by not eating after 7 PM because late night snacking is a huge part of my being overweight.
My goal for next summer is to 1) be able to wear almost anything w/out feeling ugly or fat, 2) be able to walk around on the beach without thinking of Jenny Craig or Queen Latifah every few seconds and, 3) be able to handle heat and humidity better so I'm not camped out in the basement all summer watching TiVo'ed episodes of Will & Grace
Good luck!

Me - I push paper for a living for the federal government. Today I moved a pile from one side of my desk to the other. Then the telephones in the entire office stopped working so it was quiet. Looking forward to my Oct. F&W trip to WDW and DVC home Boardwalk.

Yay!!!! So glad to hear! Murmurs are definitely "doable" for a kid to have a normal life in today's world. There are less day to day challenges fo that as a childhood disease than having to work around juvenile diabetes, for example. You definitely have someone upstairs looking out for your family!

I have had a busy summer but I am in a lull right now - and gearing up for a busy September.
DD turns 7 on Tuesday and starts Grade 2. DH has an interview for another area of his company on Thursday. I am gearing up for a bellydance performance in a few weeks (5 pages of choreography to learn plus manuevering a weighted silk veil in the wind) and I still have costume bits to make.
We will be gearing up for dance classes for both DD & I soon.
Oh - and I am hoping to enter a photography contest at a local fair in a few weeks...still sorting out pictures & their rules.

This is the perfect spot for me to share something random that happened to me yesterday. I firmly believe someone else has had this happen!
I was snacking on tortilla chips & salsa dip. LIME flavoured tortilla chips. I was breaking the chips smaller before dipping. I snapped a chip, and a small shard flew through the air and landed directly in my left eye. Yep, it hurt. I didn't say that many bad words as DH was in the other room & I was more interested in getting help. Apparently I use enough bad language that it no longer warrnets attention...:confused3
He helped me upstairs but refused to try to dig it out so I managed with a make up mirror. I had to wash my eye out twice to get the sting out after the lime.
I never thought I would be blinded by lime (at least without the rum!):rolleyes1 :sad2:

Thanks, I actually discovered this the week before they went back to school and knew I was going to enjoy it, and I have. I just never knew how much I'd miss them all day. Last year DD6 went to kindergarten in the afternoon. By the time she left, I'd run around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get everything done so my evenings were free for them, and before I knew it they would be home.:) For some reason I have not got that spark in me to get stuff done, I am hoping it kicks in. I did very little over the summer because I wanted to spend every second I could with them, I did laundry, dishes, that sort of stuff, but I let a lot of things go figuring I could catch up once they were back in school. Now they are I have to catch up, and, well, I don't know. I guess it is just an adjustment time for me. I am sure it will get easier. Thanks for listening.

School just started and I already can't wait till summer vacation so I have them home with me again.
Just go help at their schools a few times a week. That's what I did when I felt lonely at home all by myself.
I'm pregnant! :goodvibes My wife (yes, I said wife) and I have been trying for awhile, so this is wonderful news.
Congratulations Iggipolka!!! Boy, we sure have had some baby fever lately, haven't we? A whole new generation of DIS Unplugged fans. :goodvibes

Not this very moment, DH and I are watching Army Wives and surfing online about our upcoming trip on the commercials.
BUT, I have been at home as a wife and mom for more than 15 years. My kids are all now in school all day and I am SOOOO LONELY. I have tons to do to keep me busy, but all day I feel like I am working in slow motion. I have lots of projects that need to be accomplished but all I do is think about how much I am missing them. Tell me, does it gets easier? I have just LOVED being a SAHM for so many years, I knew this day would come but it came so darn soon......
School just started and I already can't wait till summer vacation so I have them home with me again.
I too always missed mine. I just wish they could stay home forever with us. We only have so much time with them... :sad1: Oh why do they have to grow up soooo fast? :sad2:

AGOOFYMOM I hope your chip in the eye doesn't keep you from enjoying future snacking!!
It was a sign to eat healthier. I am sure.:rolleyes1
Congrats to Iggipolka! all these babies around! I like having happy news here.
Well a week and a half after injuring my shoulder, and then the chip in the eye incident, I fell last night and hurt my ankle. I am such a KLUTZ. It must be time for vacation! 38 more working hours & I am off for 12 days! Hopefully that will help - maybe I just need sleep...

Thanks everyone and congratulations to you too! My wife and I are going to be in WDW in three weeks! I'm trying to figure out how to hide this news from my family until we're past the 1st trimester. It's not going to be easy.
Oh..and I was also scheduled to run the WDW half-marathon in January and like you, I haven't been running at all. My doctor told me very directly not to run at all, so maybe I'll be briskly walking the half-marathon.
Good luck with your 5k!

Let's see...my life right now...
Well I am working full time nights
My DD (5) started Kindergarten and got a teacher that should not be a kindergarten teacher so we had to go through this whole 10 day "intervention" thing. It was a long and horrible 10 days ("I hate school", "I don't want to go back", etc.) Anyways, it worked out b/c now she has a new and wonderful teacher who she absolutely adores!:thumbsup2
My DD (1 on Sept 20th) took her first steps yesterday:eek:
And if that wasn't enough...I am planning two parties for next weekend. A baby shower for my SIL w/ 25 people attending and my DD's 1st birthday w/ 20 people attending. Both are at my house, one on Saturday the 27th and one on Sunday the 28th, plus I have to work Friday and Sunday nights! Am I crazy or what?:upsidedow
I just keep telling myself that I can get through this...everything will be fine and if it's not perfect, no one will know!
I'm gonna need to get away for the weekend when all this is over! Thank goodness Disney is only 2 hours away!!:yay:

Just be sure to take lots of photos (or assign someone if you're really tired). We had my niece's first birthday party last Saturday, and it was so crazy no one really took any photos. We're going to have to put her back in her dress and party hat next weekend and take staged photos.
Good luck with the parties!

Have fun at WDW!!!:cool1: We are still planning on heading down to the World in Jan during marathon time, even though there's no way I'm doing a half-marathon 7 months pregnant:lmao: I was trying to convince DH to let me run in the Princess Half marathon in March... I had just told myself that I would register after my next bonus from work... glad I found out I was pg before that happened... can't really see running that distance a month before having a baby:rotfl: Next week should be interesting enough... it's amazing how much energy it takes just to get up the stairs once you're pregnant... I just hope I finish this "little" race:headache:
We told our family right after we found out... I couldn't stand waiting :rolleyes1 and this will be my parent's first grandchild, so I knew the would be super excited since we had all given up hope there would even be grandchildren.
We had our 2nd Dr's appt yesterday.. I really like my Dr.. both appts we've gone in for we have gotten to do ultrasounds, so yesterday we got to see our peanut moving around and you could see little arms and legs wiggling.. DH was wowed!:thumbsup2
Congrats again!!!

Lucky you! I just booked our trip for next October, we are all counting down the days. I just found out the What Will You Celebrate? Tour will be here on Thursday, so I think I will take the boys, I'm still waiting for more information.
DS6 started Kindergarten a few weeks ago, and loves it, thank goodness! DS4 also started all day Pre-K, 3 days a week. At first I thought it might be too much, but he really likes it. I'm mostly a SAHM (I work Fri and Sat for a sanity break  ), and they have always been home with me, so it was quite the transition for all of us.
DH just left this morning for a 3 day convention in Iowa, and I'm getting ready for a garage sale next weekend.

Woohoo! A belly dance sister! :) Congrats on getting through your performance. Where did you dance? I can so relate to the mascara mishap. I wore false eyelashes at my last dance and one of them fell off, right in the middle of a veil dance! I looked pretty strange with one eye with lashes and one eye without lashes. *giggle*

We did "veil poi" - half circle weighted veils outside in the wind! It was a medieval faire. That was an adventure. Because of that I went with 2 stage mascara & got the gluey portion on my eye itself. EEWWWW!

Katie - I am sorry to hear that work stinks for you. I had a similar situation at my job, was promised all of these things, and then found out they were give to someone else. If it doesn't knock you down it will only make you stronger! Just know that you are better than that and one day you will find a job where you will be valued.
