Last year was the first year I stay on site at Port Orleans. This year we are going the end of September to early October and are staying at the All Star Movies. Has anyone been at this resort and what do you think about it?

Hi- I am probably going to get slammed for this, but here it goes. . . We returned from a trip last week. We drove down and made it one day rather than the two we had planned. So, I called CRO from the car and booked one night at All Star Movies (we were in the Mighty Ducks 2 bldg). We stayed the rest of our trip at BWV in a 1-bedroom. Given that it was a value resort, I certainly didn't expect anything like what we had at BWV, but I must say I was disappointed. My biggest complaint is that the room was so small. It was just me, DH, and DD, but I felt like we were on top of each other. I sincerely felt like I was at a movie-themed Motel 6. Before I called CRO, I called the Hilton at WDW (we'd stayed there before and liked it). It was $20 cheaper than the All-Stars, but I went with the All-Stars hoping for the "disney magic." In retrospect, I wish I had saved $20, gotten a nicer room, and stayed at the Hilton.

So, all that said, I wouldn't rule out ASMo, I'd just really explore all the options first before making the decision.

We love ASMO! Last year we stayed in Toy Story, the Woody building and this year we plan to request Mighty Ducks.
We had 5 people in our room(plus a crib and a double carriage) and no problem with space. There was no excess noise around us(never heard a toilet flush except ours). Food court, pools, bus service, CMs were all wonderful. The theming is awesome, you cant get more Disney than ASMO. The cheap price was just an added bounus. We cant wait to go back!

All Star Movies is my favorite resort! I have stayed at Riverside and CR and Movies is my first choice. There are tons of recent posts about the All Stars on the board. Do a search and go back and read some of those. I'm sure they will be helpful to you.

Also here are a couple of links you might wanna check out:

I love the atmoshere of the Movies. The layout is great, we much prefer the layout of the All Stars over the moderates. The food court is closer to all of the buildings and it has a great selection. One of the best thing about the All Stars is the bus service! We were there during Easter 2001 (one of THE busiest times) and waited no more 10 minutes for a bus most all of the time. Basically we go to Disney for the parks, so we don't need huge amounts of space (even though we had 4 in our room and dind't feel cramped). The All Stars are the perfect size and price for us and the rest is just an added bonus!

I don't think you'll be dissappointed! Have a great trip!

We love the All Stars - esp. Movies. We've tried a deluxe and, altho we really liked it, we missed the great selection at the All Star foodcourts - they have something for everybody. We were really tempted to try a moderate for our next trip because we got such a great deal but we chose to stick with ASMo mainly because it is smaller and everything is more conveniently located. The only time we've ever had a long wait for a bus was going to Downtown Disney and leaving Epcot at closing time - and I think you'll find those to be long waits no matter where you stay. I think it really helps to look at pictures so that you know what to expect. The link that Neeter gave is to a really good site with pictures of all the resorts. I'll list a few more for you.

L O V E the ASMo. I find it impressive that you can get such a strong Disney spirit at a value resort! This year we'll try to stay in Toy Story, but they put us in the Mighty Ducks area last time. I think it is the most boring themed area but if you want the most peaceful place in that resort, that has got to be it. The pool is virtually empty most of the time too!

crusoe2,

Thanks for posting those links! I didn't have the links for DisneyPix and YourMagicalJourneys. Great sites!

You know if we keep this up we'll have to get our "Official All-Star Movies Cheerleaders" badges and outfits! LOL!

I can't wait till my next trip! It's waay too far away though!

See ya!

Your welcome, Neeter. I just found the Magical Journeys site a few days ago and now have one of their pictures of the ASMo pool area as my wallpaper. I know what you mean about the cheerleading thing - seems like there are just a handful of us here who really like the All Stars for reasons other than the low price.:D

Crusoe2, which pool picture did you choose? :D

I have one of the CSR pictures as my wallpaper (one of the views across the water with some foliage in the foreground).

We too like the ASMo. It was just what our family needed as to location, pool, food court and value. We were in fantasia and loved the location. I am not sure but think that Mighty Ducks might be a little father from the main building, bus stop, food court etc. We really did'nt walk around much and don't remember seeing this building. If the location is important to you, I am sure someone can let you know exactly where this building is located.

I was pleasantly surprised by All Star Movies last year. Usually, we stay at deluxes (CR, BC, WL, also Disney Inn '90). Although Mighty Ducks is farthest from the food court, it really isn't a far walk to anything anyway. MD is probably the quietest area at ASMo. The pools were also nice. Overall, the rooms were clean, and not too small. The CM's were very pleasant and helpful. Bus service was good. Also, the $49 price tag was a big benefit. The only downside...1) Only one sink per room. 2) Didn't like the food court...way too crowded for average food...but ice cream sundaes were excellent! Relax, and enjoy your stay at ASMo.

We stayed @ASMo last year after staying @CR the year before. I was very happy with the whole experience. The rooms are smaller, but I shared with my DD (13) and DS (12) and we were very happy. The Food Court is MUCH nicer than CR and the transportaion was excellent. Service was exceptional. DD left her wallet in our room and didn't tell me until we were 4 hrs. on the road. I called from cell phone, they found it and UPS shipped it to me at no charge. (Not to mention that her $50 was still in it!)I don't think I'll spend the money for a deluxe again. We'll be back at ASMu 11/2002 for a "girls only" trip. I hope you have a wonderful trip. šoš
