Just booked Northwest out of Detroit in July (Wed. July 24) to Orlando with return on August 5th (Sunday) for $136.00 per person! This rate is incredible - and what is even more incredible is the fact that we are Canadian and these rates make the killer exchange rate much easier to swallow. Just wanted to let people know - one last point of info- book directly through NWA. I checked Orbitz through my email link, and the prices were higher.

I am so jealous...didn't know NW knew how to post a rate under $200, LOL.

Herc - I am with you...I don't think they know there are numbers lower than $200 out of MSP ;)
But I think that NWA has a bit more competition out of Detroit, plus they want people to use that brand spanking new terminal up there that they just built.

I have similar problem out of DFW (dallas ft. worth)!!
I am finding nothing lower than $250 right now for NOvember.
It is crummy, that certain airlines/airports have such awesome deals
and we never get them!!

Tiger926,
did you get that rate on line or did you call direct, I just checked for July 16 returning on the 24th and it was 216 Maybe I will check for the next week and see what I get, I was going to go in June but if I could get the flight that much cheaper I will go in July,

Actually HelloKitty, there are deals out of DFW but you really have to watch for them. We flew in March to Orlando direct on Delta for $101 and are going back in January for $167 also direct on Delta. American hardly ever has any deals but Delta seems to be running them pretty frequently this last year or so. Delta had $178 flights for most dates through March 2003 as of Thursday but those prices were only good that day. I would suggest checking every day if not twice a day to find these prices.

Good luck,

linny172 - I always book our air through Northwest's website www.nwa.com. I have discovered after several years of flying to Disney World, that the cheapest day to arrive is Wednesday, that being said, we are arriving on Wed. July 24th and returning home on Mond. Aug 5th. If we had wanted to return on Sunday, Aug. 4th, the tickets jumped to $208.00 pp. We are flexible with our air dates (I am a teacher and therefore DH gets to book any summer vacation time he wants) and so it always works out for us. That being said, I just went to the Northwest website and did a check for you (2 adult tickets) and here is what I came up with:

$136.50 pp

Arrival:
Total: $273.00
6:58 AM Depart Detroit (DTW)
Arrive Orlando (MCO) 9:29 AM Tue 16-Jul
2hr 31mn Northwest 432
Nonstop flight

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Departure:
1:00 PM Depart Orlando (MCO)
Arrive Detroit (DTW) 3:44 PM Wed 24-Jul
2hr 44mn Northwest 439
Nonstop flight

FYI - this new flight sale requires minimum of 2 tickets purchased. I mistakenly punched in 1 adult and the rate was $236.00.

Let me know if I can be of anymore assistance.

I have seen good prices also on NWA from SLC. There is one lay over on the way and two on the return trip. You are in the air approx. 2 hrs. at a time on return. Does anyone have any input such as if it would be too much hassle or too chancey missing connecting flight. There is only about 20 min between connections on the way there. How is NWA? I don't know whether to grab it or wait to see if Delta comes down. I have till November. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help.

For comparison purposes,

MSP to MCO on July 24 for two people $323 each. Maybe I should drive to Detroit, LOL

I guess I didn't think there woukld be a difference checking for one ticket or two Thanks again. Maybe I will get to Disney this year after all

Hi,
I am a travel agent, I have been booking these fares for awhile now from
Detroit, they are companion fares. Both parties must travel together both ways.

Have seen your recent posts about good air fares, especially out of Detroit, Metro...

Would love to see something on my end leaving from Detroit in Sept.

Have been searching daily to no avail...all the sites listed that leave Detroit....

Cannot find anything under $220...or the times are horrid.

Makes me aprpeciate what I was able to book on Delta 2 "ears" ago for $166RT with the most awsome times!!!

Guess I will keep trying...

Should anyone come across something I would sincerely appreciate a bump!

Thanks!

Hi,

I got a great rate from Syracuse N.Y. ( we live in Kingston Ontario but drive down) to Orlando.

My neice is in OKC and trying to get a flight to meet us at WDW. She is a student on a tight budget.

I can't find her a darn thing to Orlando under 225.00 for this summer anyway.

We paid 98.00 rt. from Syracuse which is a longer distance to MCO.

I sure wish I could find a better fare for her!

Some cities don't get the deals the same as others.

I also got the 136.00 NWA rate out of Detroit - but I have to fly into Tampa. I was renting a car anyways, so it was no big difference to me. The same dates into Orlando for me (4/27) was about 100 higher per person. It might be something worth looking into if you are already planning on renting a car. I hear the drive is a straight shot down the expressway and the airport itself is much less congested.
