We did a 3 day this past summer for the first time and loved it. However, it way too short.

We are also on this cruise 3 adults and a 14 year old girl. Hoping we can meet some new friends and enjoy our 2nd Disney Cruise. Our last was a 4 day in May of 2007. We are really looking forward to seeing some sights in the ports

My family and I are counting down the months until this cruise! :yay: This will be the second cruise for my boys (8 & 13) and me. My sister & her family, my brother & his family, and my mom & step-dad are also going. I can't wait to show them around the cruise ship! And my older son is excited about finally being old enough to hang out at The Stack!

My son loved the kids club. He is hoping to have time in Ocean Quest. On our Key West day, we are meeting my DBIL and his wife. They live in Key Largo. My son is soo excited about it.

I suspect that they will leave us behind and take him around to see the sights. :)

Great to meet others that will be on this cruise. This will be our 2nd Disney cruise (first one was Wonder 8/05). It will interesting to see the differences (if any) between the two. Heard the Magic just came out of dry dock & they updated the cove area for adults.

It will be me (single mom) & my DD (16). I will probably only see her at feeding times. She has already forbidden any excursions but will get off the ship for sightseeing. lol

I just booked this cruise as well- I was on the Aug 15, 2009 Eastern to Tortola- but got a great price on this one- so I changed. This is our 2nd Disney cruise, 1st one was an Eastern in Sept 2007. It will be me, DH, and my DD will be almost 7 at that time. Can't wait to go!!

Ok, I am working on switching as we speak.LOL I sent an email to my TA that we usually use to ask about OBC, etc. But I need to cancel my other one for Aug. It seemed like alot of really nice people going on that one but for the price!! We can't bet this one. We are tight with money this year due to also saving money for next years 2010 England to Barc. cruise. So if we can do a cruise this year, this would be the one to go on.:rotfl:

Sure:
You need to go to your 1st thread on your 1st page and go to the edit part. You will then need to copy over the info for everyone.:) You will have to do this everytime you add or change someone with the list of the group. Try this and it should work.:)

Shortly after I posted this, I talked to my DH (dbenlee). He helped me. Check out the first page and see what you think.

We are so excited about this cruise. It is our second DCL. Our first one was this past summer and it was a land/sea with only 3 days at sea. It was way tooo short.

It reads better for the long run and I always ask everyone that joins a thread for their ok to post there family on the 1st page ( so that way the Disboard can't be upset about anything you add to 1st page) You just never know about people.LOL
That is why for example I did just you and me as example:)

I was given this advice when I also started a Cruise meet thread, so I am just passing along the info that was passed along to me.:)
Hope this helps and Thanks for adding everyone!! It takes a little time and sometimes people forget that.
Thanks again:goodvibes

Nay:) I had already got most done already. It just seems getting up in and fighting crowds to save a few dollars isn't worth it.
If I was trying to buy a big ticket item that was on sale and saving alot of money then I would go but not to save about maybe 20-30 dollars total ( most of the things I was buying were not on sale anyway :confused3 ) on a couple of things I thought about getting.

Hope everyone else has better luck!;)

Most of my shopping was done in the stores- but I read on here(Budget boards) that if you spend $50.00 online at Toys R us, and if you have a Paypal acct- you can get $25.00 off, plus free shipping if you spend over $50.00 as well. So I got 3 Leapfrog games for the Leapster I got this morning for $52.00 shipped(they are 25.00 each). I thought that was a good deal.:goodvibes

I just got back in. I did not go out until mid-morning, there was not anything in the sales ads that I felt like torturing myself for. I finished shopping for my son. Wed. night I order his big ticket on-line. Of course my DH is laughing at me when I say that I am done with DS. He figures I will change my mind and add something else (which is probably right). :rolleyes1

We are leaving on Thursday, for a suprise and quick trip to WDW. We got great airfare and I really wanted to see the castle with the ice lights. We will be doing MVMCP on Friday and then Saturday we are going to split the day between Epcot and DHS to see Osborne lights. We come home on Sunday.

We were orginally going to go during Thanksgiving week. Actually had everything booked including ADRs. But after our cruise this summer and wanting to go back to do the 7 day, along with the Osborne lights not starting till after Thanksgiving. We cancelled everything to help on the cost of the cruise.

Well about a month ago, I got a wild idea and starting looking at airfare. Then I came up with this scheme to do just a weekend trip. (so much for saving for the cruise, although it is not costing quite as much)

We are both very excited and have been enjoying keeping it a surprise from DS. :cloud9:

I know you said your DH works for UPS. That puts you pretty limited this time of year. Isn't something like from Thanskgiving till the first year of the year as black out for any time off request.

We talk to the UPS gentleman that delivers to my work.

My schedule at my job pretty much only gives me openings for time off during parts of November till first week of Dec and then another window of time from April - till first half of June.

Well, he is a computer technician for them, not a driver, so they are a littlemore leniant(sp?) for them, but only one person can have off at a time, and the same person takes off every year at Christmas. Mine is pretty open for time off.(I work at a bank- back office stuff)

Have you thought about doing the encounter? You stand on a platform. We did that last year on another cruise line. It was good for a first experience. We are thinking about doing the swim this time.

We have not really thought about Cayman Island yet.

I did that a couple years back with my sister, cousins, and aunts on a "females only" cruise- we had an awesome time- it was one of my favorite experiences of all time. I tried to "re-create" the experience on Castaway Cay on our last DCL with DH and DD- it wasn't as nice. DD(5 yo at the time) freaked out, and wouldn't even touch the water- and DH wasn't impressed. :confused3

I am super excited :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: to say that I will be joining you all on this cruise. I got the most awesome deal ever and had to jump on it!
It will be:

Me--Tonya--28
DS--Zane--7 (will be 8 two days after we get off the ship)
Abilene,Texas

We were originally booked on the 8/15 cruise and had to change because Zane changed to private school and that will be his first week of school. So we changed to a RCCL springbreak cruise out of Galveston because DCL was way to high for anytime we could go. Yesterday for some reason I just felt the urge to go to my TA's website and check prices for DCL and boy was I shocked when I found the pricing for this cruise. I figured it was a mistake but called anyway. Yesterday they only had May 30th so I took that but told him to keep checking for this one. Today I got the call!!! Ok...enough of that, sorry I am just so excited.

Nikki---HI, I remember you from the 8/15 cruise! :thumbsup2

I also see a few of you are from TX, are you all driving or flying? I am thinking of driving for my first time.

Fish Extenders---I have seen these mentioned but I don't know what they are??

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hello :)

I am super excited too and I hope we end up with an active group. I have been on 1 Disney cruise (7 nt eastern in Sept '07) and we had a really active DIS group. It was nice we had a meet on the 1st day and a lunch together on one of our sea days. It was really neat running into "friends" on the ship. We had a lot of fun.

I definately want to get to know everyone in our group!! We are so excited also. This will be our second DCL- we went in Sept 07, we did an Eastern- and had such a great time. We took my nephew- so it was a little different experience for us- because we have an only child- we were gone for 2 weeks- as we did Disney for a week, then the Disney cruise. We just want it to be us this time.:goodvibes

Hello! I keep saying I am done but I keep adding on. Did you see the news on the homepage about the one of a kind DCL offer that will be announced on 12/10? I am dreaming it's something really good, I have been thinking about booking the 6/6 Eastern to tag onto this one or the 6/21 Wonder cruise. I have always wanted to do a back to back. Maybe it's a 2 for 1 deal :rotfl2: Ok back to reality maybe at least a % off if you book another cruise.

I too thought I was done but thanks to Amazon's toy prices continually dropping, I guess I'm not. And it doesn't help that I got a deal a few months ago offering free Prime - two day shipping. I can't take the stuff home yet so my office at work is beginning to look like a stock room. :lmao:

As much as I would love to do any cruise, a 3 day is too short for me. I have been on one- and by the time you get settled- it's time to get off and go home. If we were going to WDW sometime before our cruise- we probably would, but we're doing a post DCL stay at WDW. So we're not.

I know!! I agree with our awesome deal though!! We are doing Saratoga Springs for the week after- we added on to DVC so we have to use our developers points. We want to relax and do a couple of parks- we usually would do the park then cruise- but DD graduates from Kindergarten on the June 11th- and we didn't want to miss it. So we will cruise first.

I used all my points until Dec of next year :sad2: So I thought about doing the 4/3 deal but I am spoiled to DVC. I have been wanting to stay at OKW though so if I can get the time off I might try to rent points there. Zane's birthday is 6/22 so we could celebrate his birthday there. I also thought about renting a car and doing Sea World and Aquatica because I have wanted to try both of those as well. So who knows what we will be doing.

We will be flying.
We drove in 2006 and loved it but it just takes too long to get there when you drive.

We are about 2hrs from abilene, when I was in high school we used to drive to Abilene to do our school shopping. I work for the Library and when we have workshops they are always in Abilene.

Sorry to invade your thread...I'm not on the 6/13 cruise yet. For those that got the great rate on this cruise, did you book online or by phone? I tried with two different travel agents today, but neither got back to me. I guess it was too busy with the new promotion. Online was definitely not a great rate. Just trying to nab one of these great rates, and I am not having any luck. Thanks for your help!

I had a cruise booked with a TA for 8/15/09- then switched when I saw this great rate. I would just book it if you see it, and then switch to a TA. It took about 4-5 days to get the Cat12 for us, then I called my TA and she nabbed it for us. I would keep an eye on the DCL site at night or early in the morning.
Good luck- I hope you can grab one.

I think you should book yourself since they come and go so fast and transfer to your travel agent. Everytime you walk by your computer plug in you info and check. I noticed that it usually pops up around 11:30am CST and 3:30pm CST and also 11:00pm CST
Good Luck!

I booked through my TA. I actually hadn't been on the DIS in awhile because it's too depressing when I don't have a trip planned. We were going on RCCL over springbreak out of Galveston. For some reason last Wednesday something told me to check my TA's website and I saw the rate listed. I thought it was wrong but I called anyway, at first he told me only May 30th was available and he held it for me but he told me he would keep a look out for June. Well the next day he called and it was available. You might try contacting them if you haven't already they are very helpful. All Seas Travel..hope I don't get in trouble for this! :scared1:

We are in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area. We are flying out of IAH. We actually had flights booked for a November trip. We cancelled that, so I paid the change fees and we are using them for June. Did not want to completely lose our money on those flights.

We did get good rates when we made a decision to do a weekend at WDW for last weekend. We had a wonderful time with all of the Christmas lights, decorations, activities. Really wished we had a little more time.:santa:

I have never thought about Austin. I might have to check into that. We cruised last Sept (07) and I got tickets for $152.00 roundtrip on Delta out of DFW best deal I ever got. All other trips I flew Airtran or AA out of DFW and they were around 200. The cheapest I am finding now is $299 :scared1: and now they have all the baggage fees etc.

Good Evening everyone. Happy it's almost Friday! :cool1:

I am having a dilema and need some suggestions/advice/etc...since I am out the price of airfare etc I would like to extend this into a two week vacation (if my work schedule allows) and I am trying to decide between WDW or doing back to back by adding on the June 6th Eastern. Have any of you done a back to back cruise. After adding up all the WDW expenses the cruise isn't that much more. I am really hoping they start offering some deals on the Easterns like they did the Westerns.

Hello, fellow 6/13 cruisers! I just found this thread, so thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Lisa and my DH is Dave. We have 2 kiddos, Samantha (11) and Matthew (9). We were just on the Magic over Thanksgiving, and didn't plan to sail again until 2010 or 2011. However, when we saw the deals on the Cat. 12s we just couldn't resist. Here's the scoop...we wanted to take my mom on a very special trip for her 60th b-day next year, but were unsure what to do. When the great price popped up, we decided the cruise was it. (We're all HUGE Disney fans, as we live in San Jose, CA, just a 6 hour drive from Mickey's original home.) My mom lives in Missouri, so we aren't going to tell her about the trip until Christmas day. We are going to surprise her with a gift bag full of clues, and see how many it takes her to figure out what we're doing. So fun!! We'd already booked the buy 4, get 3 deal at Pop Century for 6/20-6/27, so we'll combine them for a truly special birthday celebration for her.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you a little bit more before the trip.

I think it would be great fun to do fish extenders, as some of you have mentioned.

Please feel free to add us to the list on the first page...

I just had an idea...what do you all think of having a "Question of the week" between now and the cruise. We rent a hall, and the adults do the "Steal the Gift" type exchange, and the kids draw names and exchange. We also hire a "Santa", it is alot of fun!! We are having food and games too, it will be a few hours long. DH has 6 cousins that are his age with their own families, then all of the kids are almost the same age too. It's crazy!!:goodvibes

I think we'll start off basic, and then build from there. So, here we go...

Question #1
How many Disney cruises have you taken, and why is 6/13/09 "The Week" for your family?

I'll start the answers...

This will be the 3rd cruise for Dave and I. We first sailed on the Magic (a Western) in September 2006, with two other couples We rebooked then for the Thanksgiving Double Dip of 2008. The Double Dip was the first trip with the kiddos. We didn't think we'd cruise again until 2010 at the earliest, but with the great rates for Cat. 12's, we decided that 6/13/09 is a great choice for us. It will be SO nice to go on vacation without having to think about make-up work for school. It seemed to always be hanging over our heads last trip. This will be my mom's first trip, in honor of her 60th b-day.

Great Question!

This will be our 2nd (possibly 3rd, have the June 6th Eastern booked as well but not sure if I can get 2 weeks off work) Disney cruise. Our first was the 7 nt Eastern in Sept '07. We just booked this cruise because of the GREAT deal. We had actually planned to skip Disney in '09 and we had a spring break cruise booked on RCCL. I do wish this deal would have been on the June 20th cruise though, then we could have celebrated Zane's 8th birthday which is June 22nd.

OT: I am also looking at the June 21st cruise on the Freedom of the Seas, has anyone been on any of the freedom class ships? If so how did you like them?

This will be our 6th Disney cruise... I hate my hubby is going to miss it. He will be in Chicago that week for work. The price for this week was unreal and I love to cruise in June. :)

Merry Christmas!

This will be our 3rd disney cruise. We first did a land/sea in 02 & 7 day Eastern in 04. We cruised on RCCL in 06 (BIG MISTAKE). We deceided on this cruise due to the price, we paid this price on our Eastern in 04 in Nov.

This will be our second DCL cruise. We did a 4/3 land/sea this past summer. We were going to do Carnival cruise this very week but talked ourselves in spending the extra $$ to be able to do DCL. We like the port stops much better than the other one plus and more important we loved DCL. With only having done a 3 day, we felt like we ran out of time and missed soo many things. I am soo excited about this trip. We always vacation in June.

Question #1

This is our first Disney cruise, our first cruise in general. I have been thinking about cruising. The kids are released for summer vacation on June 5th and so we decided on a June cruise.

This will be our 2nd DCL- the first one was in Sept 2007(Eastern). We rebooked onboard for the 8/15/09 Tortola(we still owed about $1200 on it)-but when the new rates came out we changed the date- and the price was so low it's now paid off) :woohoo: :woohoo: Plus we want to put our house up for sale next Fall, and figured it would be better to vacation earlier in the year.:goodvibes

This is our second cruise. We did the New Year's Eve cruise last year and loved it! But, the weather wasn't so cooperative and our Cozumel excursion was cancelled. We wanted to do another western cruise and thought June was a good time...the boys will have just finished with school for the summer and I know we will be more than ready to get away from it all!

Question #1
How many Disney cruises have you taken, and why is 6/13/09 "The Week" for your family?

This is will be DW and my second cruise. We did our first (3 night for our aniversary in Sept) and became hooked. We really wanted to have one big trip before my oldest goes off to college. The date was because of the great rates and since I work in an accounting dept, I am very limited in what weeks I can take off. Our year-end is March 30th so no spring break! DW works in the school so that means it is pretty much the summer/thanksgiving/christmas.

Glad work was okay for you...when do you expect to have some news about the future?

We had a GREAT Christmas here. It was so much fun to see my mom open her hints and to figure out we are taking her on the Disney Cruise. She just couldn't believe it, and is beyond herself with excitiement. We are looking forward to watching the Travel Channel together on New Year's Eve.

Yesterday we went to Branson (1/2 hour from Mom's house) and did some after Christmas shopping. We found some fabulous bargains, especially on goodies to give my hubby's co-workers next Christmas. I kept my eyes open for something to transform into a fish extender gift, but nothing yet. I have some ideas brewing, though.

Have a great weekend. (We're under severe weather watch here in MO) I'll see you tomorrow with another question of the week. :)

Probably in the next couple of weeks- we will be official in April.:scared1: :scared1: We had a pretty good Christmas too, my Dad passed away 2 months ago- so I wasn't sure how my Mom would be. But it was OK. We went to Target last night too- got some pretty garland and some boxes for next year. I know your Mom was very excited!! We were thinking of taking my Mom- but her and 3 of her sisters are doing a "Wild West" trip to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Mt. Rushmore during that same time.

Hello all & Merry Christmas!

I wanted to see if anyone has ever flew two different airlines when cruising? We found a direct flight with southwest out of Pittsburgh going to FL on the way down. But, thought of flying airtran back to be able to do the 'on board' check in. Anyone know if this would work?

I asked on the 'regular' forum but haven't recieved a response. I thought maybe someone on here would know! :) I'm a bit impatient:scared1:

Both ways would be booked as a one way flight. As long as you are happy with the total cost, then you would be fine. On board check in is going to only be concerned about the returning flight.

My boys and I will always remember our NYE aboard the Magic! I can definitely say there is nothing in southern Illinois that can even remotely compare....

I bought in to SSR. I see that you have AKV. We were just there in October and loved it! The resort is so beautiful and the kids enjoyed the animals and the activities that were offered. I loved eating at Boma! I'm thinking of adding more points with AKV....you can never have too many points!!!:rotfl:
