Has anyone booked alternate excursions for Nassau yet?
I went ahead and reserved rooms at Comfort Suites jic.
Rate is kind of hi so wondering if people have started booking in anticipation.

I just realized I had my passporter in my trunk. Wow! We get the big port hole window and are right below Diversions which should be quiet. Now I am really excited. DCL is smart. I am sure we will want an outside room every time now and spend more $. Now I can order the room decorations for the kids' b'day. And we will only be doing on FE for both staterooms.
Congratulations!

I would wait because we just don't know for sure what port or what we will do for that day? DCL is going week by week on this from what I heard.:)

Ahh..don't cry. You will make it work! A day on the magic's deck1 is better than a day at home!!!! :)
I know it's stupid, but I am upset about our assignment, too, so I know how you feel. I really, really wanted a Cat 9 or a Cat 11 Deck 7 aft and my TA made a mistake and now I am the one who has to "pay" for it, not her.

5505, right next to Diane's, 5501... Trouble is that our TA crossed-referenced our cabins which was supposed to be for DINNER seating and it messed us up as far as ressies go. DCL thought they were being nice by giving us side-by-side cabins but we think it may have hindered our ability to get the coveted Cat 9's. Our TA should have held off on linking until assignments were made, IMO, which is what is really upsetting me (more than the stinky cabin).

congrats to anyone that got an upgrade.
I suppose if you aren't happy you could ask at the port what is available. I think the entertainers often stay on deck 1-maybe you'll be next to one of them. At least the rooms are together. did you check to see what is still avaiable after the rooms were given out today? Sounds like deck 2 is the Dis floor!!
Deck 6 is a great location in my opinion- I always take the stairs so from 6 it is only 3 flights up to the pool and 2 or 3 down to dinner.
Now I am feeling I should have done more for the FE if everyone has a cabin and child gift-uh oh

Ok so now that I am done sobbing! (not literally but close enough, LOL)
We got upgraded in DCL minds, just not my mind! LOL :lmao: We got side by side cabins (which I am thankful for), they are CAT 10 (which I am also thankful for) but they are on DECK 1!!! UGH!
So thank you DCL for my *upgrade* ... Now can you please return my money to my checking account for switching my rooms to CAT 12's so I can fully enjoy this *upgrade* LOL
Can't wait to be cruising!!!!!:banana::banana::banana:
Ok so promise you will travel down to deck one to deliever your FE gifts!!! :lmao::hug::hug::hug: I am sorry you are disappointed. How much would it cost to upgrade at the port? Or "downgrade" to a 11?:hug::hug:
I got category 9 rooms 2536 and 2538. Reports say they are noisy, but I can sleep thru anything... (I have twins, believe me I learned to sleep when I could!)
looks like 2538 & 2540 are connecting... wish we would have gotten that,... But I'm not complaining...:cool1:AMEN to the sleeping! ;):rotfl:You are only 7 cabins from us!
Ok, dumb question...I think I got an upgrade but how do I know what category it is? Cabin #2032We are all right together! :thumbsup2
:cool1:Just checked and we were upgraded to a cat 9 on deck 2. We are in 2556 and my parents are in 2558. Check your reservations they are starting to assign! We are 18 cabins apart! :thumbsup2
Just checked our rooms. No upgrade. Got #2013 and #2015 which are cat 12's so 2 def claimed for. No upgrade but we're sailing DCL at a big discount! I'm happy!
Though we may upgrade at port! W'ell see! :goodvibesWe are neighbors!!! :thumbsup2

It's not DCL's fault by any means. It's the TA's for jumping the gun. I know it is babyish and stupid but now I don't even want to go. :sad2: DD doesn't really care since she is too cool for Disney and it's "just another cruise so who cares, Mom?" (that's teenspeak for "whatever") Again, I'm teary because the TA KNEW BETTER YET STILL DID IT. Will they do anything? Doubtful because it was DCL that made the assignments and "you takes what you gets."

I know my heart dropped at first when I thought we were still in Cat 12 but I was trying to cheer myself up so I definitely know the feeling. I was hoping for at least a 9 but see that DCL was really trying to keep us together, so I appreciate that fully.
Never sailed in a Cat 11 before, but we did have the Cat 10 on the Repo and did not miss the window at all so I am excited to try a new category.
Thank you Brooklyn for helping me figure it all out this morning. :wizard:

Try to not worry to much. With 40 days to go and I sure (at least I hope) that this cruise will not be full. There so many cabins in each catergory open when I checked this weekend. You will probably have a very good chance of upgrading/changing at the port. Even if it's just a change of location.

Well I can pay the $1300+ and in DCL's mind "downgrade" to an 11. I could upgrade my mom and the girls to one CAT 6 with a verandah for basically about $1200.
It just sucks that I was trying to make this so special for the girls with boarding on their birthdays. Now I am just so disappointed. I know I took chance but I guess I figured I would not end up in 2 rooms that each sleep 4 (all of deck 1 sleeps 4) with not having 4 people in the room.
DH said to just pay the money. I could wait and be miserable for 40 days and see what happens or I could just bite the bullet and pay. :confused3

Are those right at the front? What did you hope for? at least 5 is centrally located.
This is the reason I just book the room. I have VERY BAD luck and would get the noisiest, worst room, with no extra charge for seage smell!
If rooms stay open now that they have done assignments maybe prices will come down and you can get what you want--aren't they offering Florida res discounts?

I called my TA to express my frustration :headache: to her for her mistake of linking us...and she told me that I could upgrade to get a different cabin . The cost difference is $2381. :scared1: WHAT? I can't afford that.
I guess I will just stay where I am unless I can get a cheaper upgrade at check in, problem is I won't get to port until probably 1:00 and by them most of those will be gone if not all of them. I can't believe this all this waiting and excitement to be disappointed, let down and on the brink of tears. I just don't want to be as far forward as I can get.
Stephanie seems to think it is a great room though so I will take her word for it and see what I get later or just sleep changes clothes and enjoy the midship decks a lot.

Go back and check now -- there is almost no availabilty left. They put out a whole block of Cat 12's late last week and filled the ship. Now Cat 11 & 10's & 9's are only as guarantees from what I could see, with 2 8's left.

Having never cruised, for upgrades do they go by the Cat you originally booked or the Cat you are in currently? Ie to upgade now (after room assignments) do you pay the difference from a 12- 6 (even though you are assigned a Cat 9 now), or is from a Cat 9 to a Cat 6?
Would there be a price difference in upgrading now vs at the port? We aren't (very happy with what we got), but I was just curious with everything that happened today.

"IMO" ~ You take a gamble when you allow DCL to choose your room... but you got a great deal. I paid almost full price for my cat 10 rm# 7505 *originally 2139 ~ I up-decked!* I am not a gambler & prefer to pick exactly where I want to be. Is it a better room than what I originally had? I have no idea but just glad to have a room.

We have never done it but from what I understand, if you wish to pay for an upgrade at the port it will be based on the differnce of what you 1st paid.
So-for example you pay for CAT 12 ( but were upgraded to a Cat 9 - you will still be paying the difference from the Cat 12 not the Cat 9)and you want a Cat 6 you will pay the difference from CAT 12 to CAT 6.
Thats why you can take the Chance and save the money with the GYT VS paying and knowing what you will get for sure.:)

It could also be residual pain from something else - that was my ending diagnosis. I had ab pain that radiating to the left and now constant on the left. I had ultrasound, ct scans and xray - no answer - they have no clue what it could be. I hope her pain goes away or they figure out what it is. :grouphug:

I think that that is probably too many dress shirts for DH as he will probably only wear them for a couple of hours. I would think 4-5 would be more than enough.
Okay - that makes sense. I can try to cut them down. I am trying to limit the suitcases to one 29" two 25" and one 21" (that one will have FE, alcohol and water) . I managed to fit the kids clothes into one 25" together. Which I also think I overpacked. Are any of you bringing beach towels or blankets for the room? These five weeks (yes I am counting this as five now) feel like they are going to fly by :confused3 I found by clock radio so I am excited I don't have to purchase one.

I am trying but it is NOT working. I am so sick over it. I had exactly what I wanted and let it go. It is a lesson learned. I am NOT a gambler so I should have known better.
We are on level 1 too. We bought 2 cat. 12 rooms because it was cheaper at the time than booking 1 cat. 12 for 4 people. I am a travel agent and requested connecting rooms and didn't get it, so it is the luck of the draw. We paid an amazing price, so I'm just grateful we got upgraded and got rooms side by side. The cat. 9 is about 40 more sq. feet than the cat. 12. One Disney cruise agent said we could possibly be all the way across the ship from each other! I read the stateroom reviews and it says it's nice and quiet as there are not a lot of people/kids banging down the halls, plus you get awseome water views as you are so low. Also, it's not as rocky at the bottom of the boat. Cheer up! I know it's disapointing (I'd rather be up higher as well), but I never spend too much time in the rooms anyway.

I went to lunch with a very good friend today. She is a professional artist and VERY crafty. She helped me come up with a GREAT idea for FE gifts. It will NOT be the magnets, so wanted to give y'all the heads up so you could make it if you want one. But I think you will LOVE them!!!

HEY EVERYONE!!!!!
Wanted to first say we did get our cabin and it is 2036
So I am glad to finally have a number!! My sister and her husband are right beside us!
Again this is our fourth cruise and we have been on deck 6 deck 5 and deck 7 so this is our first time on deck 2!!!
I am just going to say that it would not have mattered to me really where we ended up because I knew I took that risk when I opted for the GTY 12:confused3
I am just happy that we are going on VACATION in less than 6 weeks!!!
:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

You pay the difference from a 12 not what you get assigned to unfortanatly.
My TA told me there might be problems when linking reservations. Unfortunately, this is what happened... I am sorry for the ones who didn't get what you wanted or preferred.
Hopefully, there will be a chance to upgrade once at port. pixiedust:
Congrats to the ones who got awesome upgrades! :thumbsup2
Donna/Diane ~ you are only 2 decks below me! :thumbsup2 And closer to the bars!!!
I hope the disappointment wears off & everyone can continue planning OUR FANTABULOUS UPCOMING DISNEY MAGICAL CRUISE!!! Just think there are A LOT of people who can not even afford a vacation let alone a Disney vacation!
Thanks for a great post and trying to cheer up those down in the dumps!
Sorry to interrupt...
Jayde's ultrasound came back normal but she is still having abdominal pain (traveling to the left region) ~ sees Dr again Wed.
A friend was stating it could be an ulcer?!?! :confused3
I hope she feels better soon!
Just think ... you could be me ... who panicked about the flu and cancelled my two GTY 12's, got my money back and am now sad that I'm not going ... in fact, I just called to see if I could rebook ... I still may be going ... will keep you posted.

I hope things workout for you and you can rebook! I went through the same concearns as you. We were VERY close to canceling too. I met with DD's infectious disease doc on the 45 day mark and he gave us the ok to go even though the day before he said not too.
We are on level 1 too. We bought 2 cat. 12 rooms because it was cheaper at the time than booking 1 cat. 12 for 4 people. An ocean view would have been nice on Deck 1 but we got 10's not 9's.
I thought the threads closed at 250 pages????? We get locked out of this one soon so we might want to start another one just in case.

Hey SUZCRUISE ! I have cabins 2540 and 2542 ! And, we're from Indiana too!!!!!!!!!! Where do you live ??? I saw that too about #2538 and #2540 too, being connected... that's kind of silly to me, since we reserved two cabins...must not be too uncommon for Disney to do...
I live in Dyer, that is up in Northwest Indiana. Are you from Indianapolis?
I figured that another group must have 2540 & 2542, else you think they'd do the connecting... must be too difficult to figure out ahead of time, or maybe they just don't try that hard? Any my rooms are me and my 2 daughter and the other is my mom, my nephew and my son. So I won't be separated from my spouse at least! I'm glad triplefigs got the connecting much more reason to connect... I'm just being separated from one of my kids.... which sometimes can be a good thing.:laughing::laundy:
Anyway looks like a lot of us along that side of the ship on deck 2!

Ok so I just went and picked up DD from school. I did some soul searching on the way and thought long and hard about my feelings today.
Last week I was thrilled to save $1,500 (originally I thought $1,300 but it was higher! :thumbsup2) I said then it did not matter what I got. I did however have a gut feeling we would NOT be on Deck 1. I think had we been on deck 1 with at least the 2 little portholes it might have made the blow a little easier.
I need to be thankful for saving the money. I have been saying all day I wish I never gave up my rooms and just kept the price I had. Then I thought to myself if these 2 rooms were avail for $1,500 and I could have just picked them I would have. I think it was just hard hearing EVERYONE either get Oceanview rooms or higher decks that was so hard to handle. It was just one after another after another. I would have prefered an 11 on a higher deck vs a 10 on Deck 1. I know not everyone will agree with me but that is just my opinion about it.
It seems as if everyone got side by side which was very nice. I am happy for everyone. I def wish I was one of those who were either on Deck 2 with a nice large porthole room or on a higher deck all together. I am however thankful for even getting the 12's last week when they seemed like a lost cause when I first booked.
Deb your post stated things very nicely. I am not a risk taker so that is probably why this is a little harder for me to swallow. I have read a few (not many) posts though today with those who got Oceanview rooms making it seem like those of us who are upset should not be. I think it is easy for you to say that when you are not the one who is feeling disappointed. Whether you agree with our reasoning or not please try not to tell someone how they should feel. The excitement and the build up and then the let down is very hard to swallow sometimes.
I want to take a higher road here and I am going to. I need to be thankful of all of the money I saved. If this was the only DCL cruise I thought I was taking then I would not have switched to a 12. We have the TA booked next year and we want to book the PC in 2011 too. One of the things when I switched I said...well this will be more money to take another cruise. I need to keep reminding myself that.
I am looking forward to the cruise and to the meeting everyone. We have a great group of people on board and looking forward to an awesome time! :thumbsup2
:welcome: to all of the new people and congrats to everyone for all of their great upgrades!
Ok time to take the higher road and be thankful! :flower3:
