View Full Version : Anna & DJ - 4/25/09 TR-Rehearsal Dinner & Fireworks added!

08-23-2008, 12:42 PM
Okay, so hear we go....

This is Anna & DJ's Planning Journal for our DFTW on April 25, 2009. A 5PM Ceremony @ the Wedding Pavilion w/ the Grand Ballroom in the Grand Floridian for the Reception, and our grand exit on the Grand 1 Yacht! Yeah I am so excited!!!

We are having about 150 guests with all coming from out of town. DJ & I, along with our direct families live in Gainesville, FL...only 2 hrs from Disney.

We really dont have a theme yet. I do know that our colors will be a Sea Foam Green & a Tealish Blue, when they are together they pop. I am hoping to find the the BM dresses @ JCrew (the green) tea length & the men a nice clean grey suit with green shirts & DJ in a white shirt.

Oh & I have my dress it came in last week. The designer is a Bride 2 Be & it's a total Princess Dresses. I will post pics soon...

Cant wait to share more with everyone & I am sure I have left out a ton. Talk with everyone soon!

Welcome to the boards!!! Our weddings are very close. I can't wait to see some of your details!

08-24-2008, 08:35 PM
Thank you to all of the nice welcomes!!!

So we have updated & added some things.... (we just got back from meeting with our Consultant and doing a final walk through for all of the locations-a day trip)

The Whitehall room & Patio for a Pre-Reception area & the Marina area for Fireworks & Drinks, then our exit from there. I am pretty sure we are doing the Welcome Dinner @ the Living Seas, (have to take the FILs down there next month to make sure & show them everything)

Oh and I met to say earlier, I am up for any suggestions on the Ballroom decorations for the GF. I did not really want a ballroom but this was the best for everything else we wanted to do. To make it worse I really am not up for the traditional foral centerpieces. Suggestions??

Cant wait & I promise to post some pics soon. (my Mom has them all on her computer).

Oh I love that dress - so perfect for a DFTW! :)

I had to laugh - underneath your picture Kodak gives options if you want the picture you're viewing on a mug or mousepad. As much as I like the shoes you tried on, I'll pass on the mug! :rotfl2:

But keep on posting - I can't wait to see what else you come up with!

08-28-2008, 08:26 AM

Your dress is absolutely beautiful. I may sound really dumb here, but what is the grand 1 yacht? I don't get it!!! :confused3

08-28-2008, 04:10 PM
I love the shoes!! Were they comfy? Where did you find them? Sorry I'm being so nosy :rotfl:

08-28-2008, 04:57 PM
I love the shoes!! Were they comfy? Where did you find them? Sorry I'm being so nosy :rotfl:

Thanks I love them too. Yes, they are super comfy & actually you could wear them with a black c-tail dress or jeans with a cute top. The desginer is Grazia Shoes, style: Vanessa. I found them @ Solutions Bridal (where I got my dress) in Gainesville, FL. They have a website if you just enter that in the yahoo bar.

Pinkerbell1983--- Yes the Grand 1 is the Yacht that stays @ the GF Marina. We are doinng our "grand" exit on that & just spending 1 hour just us to relax & take everything in.

08-28-2008, 10:42 PM
I love your dress and shoes!!!!! They are both beautiful! I agree with you it is a princess dress!

Disney Ron
08-29-2008, 07:46 AM
Love, love, love the shoes....splurge !!!! It is your special day.
Not something I would normally invest in, but to complete your fabulous look...I say go for the shoes. They are not like anything I have seen so well worth it, very princessy!

:bride: Mrs. Disney Ron

09-02-2008, 08:23 PM
So I have totally amde up my mind to splurge for the shoes!

Wedding Day Jewerly:... having it made with drop pearls & diamonds w/ a matching braclet. No necklace b/c my dress is to much for that.

Hair: Half up & half down. I have pretty curely hair so it looks best up or I have this is poof on my head.

BM Dress: Shopping Sept 28th for them! Yeah Cant Wait!

GM-they will have gray suits with green shirts to match BM, but the Groom will have white shirt.

Oh updates on the timeline...

Welcome Dinner (Friday night)
Living Seas 6pm-11pm
85-90 people

Wedding Day 4/25/09
aprox. 150 people
3pm-Groom family pics, then Brides (we arent seeing each other)
5pm- WP Ceremony
5:30-6:30-Whithall room/patio (pre-reception)
6:30-11- GF Grand Ballroom w/ DJ
@ 10- we are having the Marina available w/ a "dessert party" to watch the fireworks, but we are allowing for cake, drinks, & coffee to all be brought outside to watch.
11pm-Grand Exit on the Grand 1 Yacht (a nice hour to look back & take it all in)

We are going for our planning session the middle of Oct! Cant wait

09-03-2008, 12:01 AM
Good job on the shoes! It's totally worth the splurge!

09-03-2008, 09:17 AM
Love the dress and the shoes are just perfect. Glad you decided to go with them. Looking forward to reading more.

09-23-2008, 05:27 PM
Heres an engagement picture. We had 380 pictures to go through but this is everyones fav so far...

09-23-2008, 05:44 PM
That's a really cute picture!!!! Love it!!!! Please post more.

09-24-2008, 01:31 AM
Beautiful Picture! I second the request for more!!

09-24-2008, 01:55 AM
Me too! That pic is really pretty - I love all the color!

09-24-2008, 08:10 AM
Thanks! The color is my favorite thing. I cant really post more b/c I do not get the CD of them till after the wedding. But below I have put the link to the proofs/album. FYI- there are tons, like 250 or something pics & way to much kissing for me. But we had fun taking them & cant wait to see what we get for our wedding.

Actually my Photograhper & I (along w/ BMs) are going down to Disney in Feb to look around and make sure we take notes of where we want to take pictures for the wedding.

09-24-2008, 01:08 PM
Very cute engagment pic!! I can't seem to get the links to pull up with your dress it says its unavailable?

09-24-2008, 01:33 PM
I am not sure what happened to the link for my dress. But here are some pictures of me trying it on the 1st time (sample dress) oh & yep I blinked for the pic

the back laces up, but we did not do it for the 1st time. When I go this wkend I will take pics of MY dress & post those.

Then my shoes! I love these & they are soo comfy, plus I have at least 3 other things I can wear them with after the wedding

09-29-2008, 06:45 AM
So we have found the bridesmaid dresses! Yeah. They are this pretty blue taffita from JCrew. The girls will have silver shoes (brushed) & I am having a pearl/diamond necklace & earing set made for them from the woman who is making my jewerly. When I get pics of that I will post.

These are my BMs. On the left is Jamie, we have known each other for at least 15 years. And on the right is Perrin, we have been friends for about 12 years. Both girls get along great & we are having so much fun already. This is us on our way to BM dress shop!

This is the dress. we will be adding a green sash to tie all of my colors together.

oh and we found these dresses for $80! What a steal b/c online @ JCrew they were $250! Makes them even better

And here is a picture of us @ the end of the day@ my bridal store. We selected my veil (Cathedral length) a hair piece & my shoes. We were all so exicted we decided to take a picture all in our dresses:)

And last but not least my DF & I along with my parents went to my Grandparents house for dinner & they gave me this hat. Well it doesnt fit & my DF put it on, I thought this was cute & had to share.

I will do another update soon. I am pretty sure I have found pictures of what I want my bouquet & the BM's, plus some centerpiece options. Yeah!! Im getting excited

11-13-2008, 06:23 PM
okie dokie! So we were assigned our planner. Diane Bowen. So far, so good. We have our planning session Dec 19th!!! I actually emailed her the info book we had to fill out and our requests for the tasting! I am sooo looking forward to that. Because that is also our annual family Christmas trip and I love Disney during Christmas. We are staying @ Aminal Kingdom, which will be a first!

DJ & I went to Disney with his parents last weekend to view Rehearsal dinner sites. Thankfully they liked the Living Seas & we can fit 130 people! That is where DF & I wanted to have Reception but we have 180 people coming and we cant fit, so we still get to fit it into the wedding weekend!

We met Pam in Frank's b/c Diane had a wedding, & I noticed they had new centerpieces and linens! Needless to say I found mine I am pretty sure! And me not thinking I did not take a picture, so if anyone goes soon I would love a picture. The centerpieces are on the pink/black table (not liking the colors for my wedding) They are 3 tall big round glass cycliners with balls of flowers just sitting on the top! then votives and crystals on the table. And I had already wanted to use flowers balls hanginng on the sides of the pews in the wedding pavilivon so we can use the same floral! YEAH money saved there! Then for the shorter CPs I am not sure but I think I like the glass cycliners again but with water and flowers in them with a candle on top! with votive and crystals on the tables again!

Next, I have found our invitations! We are going to make them. I bought a template pack, so easy and we can change things and customize everything. I dont have a picture yet of those but I am working on getting that done!

Next, dang I'm on a roll:) Tuxes... Orginally we just wanted suits bc my DF is not a formal guy, but after the Mom's talked a 5pm wedding plated dinner and my dress we are goinng with tuxes. I went to Mens Wearhouse and found a very pretty ivory shirt & vest for DF, with ivory shirt and black vest for GM (main ivory shirt bc my dress is ivroy).

The flower girl's Mom ordered her dress...http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr281/Alysha2984/flowergirldress.gif
the ribbon will be green! Halie is going to look so cute! The RB will match my DF in a tux.

I will take pictures soon & post of the invites! And if anyone goes soon to disney I would love the CP pic.

Thanks & talk with yall soon

11-13-2008, 08:27 PM
That is so pretty! your FG will love it! Looking forward to hearing more of your plans! I love your exit plans on the grand 1 - how romantic! :goodvibes

12-16-2008, 12:06 PM
Okay so this is long overdue and I am going to try and give a great update it a short amount of time.

Our STD's went out Oct (bc Disney had to get the new ones)!!! Yeah so a month after that I sent out our Wedding Newsletter. This included info on teh wedding day, transportation, places to stay, fun stuff about the parks and other general info. Basically to help those not too fimilar with Disney, and with that I included our Christmas card. Since these went out the week of Thanksgiving. So far all feedback was great & they are helpful. Here are some pics of it. I created it in Word, then took it to an office I used to work @ where my Mom works know and printed them there.

Then our Christmas card, sorry its blurry didnt realize that till just now

Next. I have found what we arae going to do with our invitations and programs. I hope to start printing the invites right after the holidays. Here is a ruff copy of what they will look like. There are certain things & wording we have changed but this is the jist of it.

then our programs are lilke fans. they will have a different color ribbon @ the bottom just not sure what color yet.

Next. I think I have finally gotten my DF to wear a tux. They are 2 botton, tradition black, with ivory shirts. DF will have Ivory vest & tie, the GM will be in Black. Here's a pic of the vest & we are going with the tie on the left

Yesterday the flower girl's Mother got her dress in the mail, even better in person & it will fit her perfectly come April. I found her a flower basket on ebay & I love it.

Yesterday also I picked up my awesome shoes, veil & headpiece. I am going to wear my hair half up half down, bc its naturally curly and really big so it just looks better. Oh on that note I also booked Beaute Speciale for my hair and makeup! Yeah. I am hoping to do a trail in March. My Mom would like to do a Bridal portrait session then @ Disney, I figure thats a good time.
Here is my veil, I couldnt fit it all in the picture

and my hairpiece. I picked this one bc it looks great with the veil and without!

I have also finally found what bouquet I would like...

the crystals I think with look great with my dress and I want something very simple.

Next. :) I am totally on a roll! I have started working on gifts...

Flower girl basket with contain these, and I am pretty sure we are giving her a session at the disney's bibbidi bobbidi boutique.

the BM's, when we went shopping for dresses I made them this picture frame to rememeber the day:)http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr281/Alysha2984/100_1121.jpg

I am making this necklacefor we dding day. I ordered all of the beads last week.

For the GM, we are thinking a driving experience @ Petty's, and maybe cufflinks engraved or something like that.

I have our guestbook the photographer made but I forgot to take pics so next time, but I love it. I think we are going to have it at the ceremony. Fro the reception I ordered an 8x12 black/white and we are going to have it framed & matted for our guests to sign. I am really excited about that I already have a place in the house for it. This is the picture

We are leaving Friday morning for our planning session & a weekend @ Disney. I cannot wait so I will do a TR when we get back with more wedding details. Next I am going to post about our first shower!!!

12-16-2008, 12:36 PM
Our First Shower!!! Yeah, we had a really good time. It was held the day after Thanksgiving and given by some of my family members in GA. We are so greatful and have recieved all of our everyday dishes, some china, silverware and tons of other stuff!

this is some of it in our guest bedroom. I am going to wait till after the hoildays and tackle putting it all away.

So the family that gave us the shower created this great book to help remember the day. I have taken a couple pics to show you guys & I am totally going to learn how to do this!
Our napkins that my DF loved!!!

My shirt popped open so we had to handle that b4 everyone got there!

The wonderful hosts!

Next shower Jan 24th, given by my wonderful BMs. I cant wait!

12-16-2008, 12:42 PM

I can't wait to read your TR!!

04-26-2009, 05:31 PM
I must admit to snooping at your wedding! I had my PS on Friday and Diane told me that she had another bride doing all hydrangea's the next day. She suggested I go snoop at the GF while the florists set it up to get an idea about the flowers and chair sashes...it was your wedding! It was beautiful! We didn't get to actually see you, but after reading through your PJ and seeing that awesome dress, I'm sure you were gorgeous! You had the perfect day for a wedding in Florida, the weather couldn't have been better. Hope your day was as perfect as it looked and thanks for letting us peek....I hope you share some photos when you get back! :goodvibes

Trip Report....

It's all over with and my DH & I could not have asked for anything better. Below will be a vendor review...

Old Key West Resort (From Wed-Thursday) C-
I had some type of allergic reaction to the carpet cleaning product they used & therefore I ended up loosing my voice and barely able to talk on the day of the wedding. Other than that the rooms where great.

Cape May Dinner Thursday night B
We had 32 people and it was crazy, but the food was good.

Epcot French Terrace - Rehearsal Dinner & Fireworks A
Amazing! I was not too happy when my MIL changed from the living seas to the terrace, yet it was better than anything. The guests raved about the ability to go backstage. Then because it was EMHs most of the guests stayed and rode rides till 1AM.

Reverend Jack Day A+
He made our day! The rehearsal & wedding went without any issues. All of our guests thought we had known him for a longtime & he was great when I wanted my brother to read during the ceremony!

The Grand Floridian Spa D
I was very disappointed in this, as I totally was looking forward to it. Friday my Mom, MOH, MIL & myself had Mani/Pedis.... Well they rushed us as they ran behind and had more appts after us. Then Saturday we are getting ready & I look at my ring to see that my French on 3 nails is chipped already! They did send someone over to the room in 30 mins to fix, but by the end of the day I had 5 more nails that had chipped! For as much as they cost 125 for both I was not a happy camper.

Disney Florist A-
Amazing! our bouquets & the flower balls where great. When speaking with Elizabeth M at our planning session she did not have anything I truly liked so we created... And man it was exactly what I had in my head. The only thing I notices wrong was for our staged exit & ceremony petals, we had blue & yellow flowers my colors where blue & green. No biggie & I think i was the only one that noticed.

Outside Videographer - Rhodes Studios from Orlando, FL
Outside Photographer - Jess Cumbie from Jacksonville, FL
both where great & waiting to see everything before I rate.

Disney DJ- Steve Weinstein A
We really did not give him any music just the basics & if you have looked at our pictures you could see that everyone danced all night long! He did a great job of reading the crowd.

The Grand Floridian Resort & Staff (Friday-Sunday) A+
We could not have asked for anything better. The hotel staff, accommodated everything, including finding my a pair of white flip flops from Target to bringing the family drinks by the pool on Saturday. Then for t eh wedding the staff was great. I have had so many people tell us how they tipped their waiter, bartender, etc. I will include food in this... 'the best wedding food ever' that is what we have been told! from the salads made table side to the steaks & seafood that where cooked perfectly.

Diane Bowen A
our coordinator was great. My family is hard to deal with and she handled everyone amazing & if there were any issues my DH & I didnt know about them, which is how is should be!

I think that's all. My DH & I were not totally sure how things would work out, but we are happier than we ever could have been and will remember this weekend forever!

05-08-2009, 04:01 PM
And we are off....
It's Wednesday morning & I have been dressed & packed since 7 & we arent leaving till 11... Myself, Mom, MOH & MOH's Mom all had spray tans Tuesday night & man as you can tell from the pictures we were pretty dark. Thankfully by Saturday it was perfect!

So my Mom, Dad, MOH, & G'ma all headed down to Disney to hand out our welcome bags & give the wedding stuff to Diane.
Champagne in hand ready to have fun with my MOH!

So we drove around to 4 resorts & the WP to deliver all the bags that went great. The bags where reusable shopping bags inside we had water, 2 snacks, hand made wedding chocolates, antibacterial, gum, mints, tissues. sunscreen stick, and bath scrub. The guests loved them!
oh and for those guests with kids I ordered trading pins from Ebay and gave some pins to the kids.

We went to check into The Old Key West, my parents stayed here from Wednesday-Friday. Went to Publix to get some food for dinner (we were suppose to eat at Wilderness Lodge, but I was in the mood to veg out) and wait for my DF & brother.
My Dad, DH, & MOH hanging out

So that night we had dinner at the hotel & walked around the boardwalk and over to the Beach Club for a bit, before taking the boat back across.

THURSDAY--- Epcot & Dinner @ Cape May
Got up Thursday fixed breakfast and hit Epcot. I must say I was very proud of myself. DH & I had 4 day FL resident Hopper passes that expired in Feb with 1 day left. My family has passes & we didnt want to activate our Annuals yet so over to guest services we went. Some how I managed to talk the lady into giving us 2 day, hopper passes with no expiration date all for the price of making our old passes no expiration = $54.76!! That was our dust for the day I think.
Enjoying the wonderful day...

After having a great day in Epcot back to the hotel we went. Thursday night about 30 of our friends and family met to have dinner @ Cape May Cafe. It was great to have everyone there, but I was sick and did not have a voice so after dinner off to bed I went.
DH & i @ dinner.http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr281/Alysha2984/P4230355.jpg

FRIDAY- Mani/Pedi's, relaxing by the pool, Rehearsal Dinner & Fireworks

My MOH & I went for a run and had breakfast, much needed! Then Myself, Mom, MIL, & MOH headed over to the Grand's Spa. My Dad brought us over some champagne to sip on while we were pampered.

When all us girls got out we found a ton of family at the pool so we joined...http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr281/Alysha2984/P4240369.jpg

Up Next the Rehearsal Dinner & Fireworks...

Hi Anna, I posted on your other thread but wasn't sure if you'd see it there. I absolutely love your dress! You looked beautiful!! I was wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me the designer and style number/name of it? I have been trying to find it on the internet, and no luck! Thanks! Congrats!! Marissa

Rehearsal Dinner!!!! Sorry its been so long for me to update my TR.

We got back from our HM, I posted the beginning of TR, and 2 weeks later on a Friday afternoon I had a conference call where my employer of 3 years closed their doors without giving any of us any notice. So i have spent the last 1-2 months, interviewing finding a new job and trying to get my new job up and running!

Friday after we all hung out by the pool, everyone went to shower and meet at the Wedding Pavilion @ 5 for Rehearsal!

Right when we walked in the door... Look at how cute my FG was!!!! For her gift I sent her to the Bippity boppity boutique experience and she was Giselle from Enchanted, which I thought was so fitting!

the groom, looking like he was ready! ( I think)

Rev. Day, was AMAZING!!! We had fun at the rehearsal and it set a great tone for the rest of the evening! So I was told its bad luck for the bride to go through the rehearsal with her groom, so I had the groomsman's wife (our good friends) stand in for me. Below are some fun pictures. Oh, and my photographer Jess Cumbie & her husband Wes came and shot the entire event! So worth it!!! Practice Makes Perfect & we practiced twice:)

And we are off to the Rehearsal Dinner & Illuminations Fireworks at Epcot's French Upper Terrace. Since our wedding was destination we invited all 150 guest to the RD, plus its a once in a lifetime thing for most and such and awesome thing to share! so we had the buses pick everyone up from their hotels for a great evening!

When we arrived backstage our guide met with us and led the way. He was great and ended up being with us all night which was cool:)

I look like I was pulling my DH... I was so excited!

The awesome area

Our centerpieces during the day. They were 3 gel cylinders with our wedding colors, blue & green, then we added the yellow for some extra color, with black linens. Simple but perfect for this event because there was so much going on all around to look at.

Food... aww by far one of the best reasons for a Disney wedding! We had an Anti-pasta station, Pasta station, Fajita station, Ham & Roast beef carving station, and for dessert right before the fireworks an ice cream sundae bar! totally amazing!

All the people waiting to watch the fireworks...

My girls:)

the Sun is down and let the show begin... Well 1st I is the centerpieces again in the dark, so cool! and all the countries are so pretty, I love looking at these pictures!

The AAR at night, so pretty!

The Fireworks!!! So DH & I didnt get to see the show and we planning to go back! But all of our guests loved it! By far a big it!

After the show we had the Terrace till 10:30 with open bar & dessert so everyone chatted a bit more. That night Epcot was open till 1AM, so over half of our guests went and did the park. I am told they all had a blast. DH & I went back to the hotel, as you can see in this picture the bus was not full!

I went off to bed since I still was not feeling 100%, while my DH & some others went to the GF bar for a bit.

Up next Wedding Day!!
