I know quite a few of you have TomTom's that you use whilst in WDW and I have decided to buy one for our next trip....but I don't know where to start! They seem to have so many versions available, :confused3 do they come with a US map as standard or do I need to get it seperately?

Both mine & DH cars have satnav so I only need this for our upcoming holidays so I just need a basic one with US maps. Are their any offers on anywhere at the moment?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :goodvibes

I bough my TomTom from www.totalpda.com with US maps pre-installed.

If you're only using it in the US have you considered picking one up in Walmart?

The only TomToms that come with USA maps as standard are the 9XX series (currently 930 at £399.99 rrp). If you're only going to be using it on holiday I would go with Tracey's suggestion of buying a cheap one from Wal-Mart, or hire one with the car.

Oh thats expensive! Can you buy a basic one and get the US map over here seperately? I did think about getting one in Walmart but would prefer to have it before I go so I can work out how to use it. :lmao:

I looked into hiring one but it was £80 and I will need it again next year so I may as well just buy one now.

Yes you can. The bottom of the range TomTom One is £149.99 on their web-site and the South-East US map for it is £24.95 (you will also need an SD card to install the map onto).

It's in the map shop on the TomTom web-site. The £60 is for the full USA and Canada map on an SD card rather than download.

Thanks David - I am going to have a look now. You have made it a bit clearer for me....I get confused by these things rather easily! ;)

David, I have seen this one on Amazon..... http://www.amazon.co.uk/TomTom-Satellite-Navigation-Without-Bluetooth/dp/B000TXDOW4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1219483770&sr=8-3

What is the Bluetooth function that this one lacking? Is it just for updates?

Thanks in advance.

We have used the basic Tom Tom One for the past 4 years, I bought the full USA maps for £110 that long ago, so £60 is a bargain to me. The Tom Tom is very easy to use, you can set your hotel as home and all the parks are on as points of interest. Before you go you can enter addresses if they are not already on.

We looked into hiring one but in made more sense just to buy one as we use them over here too. I would recommend buying the basic one and getting the maps on SD or download just the South East version.

The bluetooth is just for linking up your mobile phone for making and receiving calls so I wouldn't worry too much about that being missing.

Just looking at the reviews for that one it seems it doesn't have an SD card slot and you might have to delete some of the maps on the internal memory to make room for the USA ones.

I use the Go 920, which had the USA maps pre-installed so I don't really know the ins and outs of the more basic models. Hopefully somebody who has bought one recently can give you some better advice than me.

Does yours have an SD card slot? Or did you download the maps to it?
