I think I saw on here they usually announce it in April and I am sure it will be all over this board but how can I officially be one of the first to know - get a Disney Visa?

Actually the very first to know will be the resort guests who go during this year's Free Dining period IF they get a Free Dining Bounceback for next year like WDW offered last year. :goodvibes

No one knows yet if they will have that agin this year, but last year there was a Bounceback offer to resort guests staying between 8/31 - 10/12/07 to be able to book another Free Dining package for the next year's Free Dining dates (2008 check ins 8/30-9/27). That was nice because they didn't have to wait to book, had best choice of resort availability, only $200 down guaranteed them FD for the next year, etc.

I'm sure if it's offered again it will be posted on the DIS ASAP when the FD get down there. When it started getting posted here last year, lots of DISers made a quick trip to WDW - even to stay just one night - just to be able to book Free Dining a year ahead.

Other than that, you're correct April is the time to watch - and a Disney VISA would help with getting a 3 day head start on booking compared to the general public.

But I think they only allot a certain number of rooms for Disney Card Holders. I just seem remembering someone complaining that they couldn't get the resort they wanted. We had no problem (went with the general code)but then again we went value. Even the week before it ended. Also if you don't get what you want keep checking back often. I would check (I had what I wanted just nosey enough to see how my week was selling) one week only standard rooms the next week preferred was available. I think the release so many rooms at a time.
