I know Mythos takes PS.. but they don't do charecter meals...this happens to be a very nice upscale restaurant. We ate there with our 8 year old and there were plenty of kids in there, however it is more adult geered.

Can someone please explain how the PS bookings work at Universal. How far in advance can you book? Do you have to book in person? Do they have buffets?

Sorry for all the ??s but I've never been to US or IOA.

Want to know info on Mythos--food sounds yummy. Was a toss-up from Mythos or Margaritavile. Any suggestions on which one. I would like to do a meal AFTER park closes or close to park closing. Can this be done without a City park pass??? Phone number or pictures of Mytho or Margaritavile would be very helpful--Thanks TONS. Also only a pass to US not IOA.

CityWalk is free to roam for any guest anytime you wish. The only thing that costs in CityWalk is admission to the clubs after around 9:30pm and parking before 6pm (after 6pm it's free). Thus, you can eat at any restaurant at CityWalk w/out having a ticket. The CityWalk pass you are referring too most likely is a "party pass" for the clubs after 9:30pm (barring a special event).

If you would like to eat at Mythos, I would strongly suggest calling ahead of time and making a priority seating at the following number (407) 224-4534. Additionally, with the shortening of hours, Mythos will most likely begin closing between 3pm and 4pm.

Also, as an FYI, if you choose just to eat at Mythos/Lombards ONLY and did not want to stay in the park. At Guest Services, We do offer a "dining pass". You would have to pay for admission into the park for your whole party and have a priority seating at the venue. After completing your meal, you take your receipt which is time stamped and have 1/2 hour to return to G/S to receive your refund of your park admission. Some guest services coordinators may not be aware of this pass, speak to a senior coordinator at that point and explain your situation.

Happy Dining!:p

Love this thread! Thanks for the menu sites! :)

Mythos or Margaritaville?
Both... :teeth: Maybe Mythos for lunch and later a small dinner at Margaritaville on the way out after the park closes... Get the Volcano Nachos, you won't be sorry...

Once upon a time, someone had a link to pictures of Mythos on here. I LOVE the interior design of the place... Yes, geared somewhat more to adults, but still able to keep that "Gods and Godesses" fantasy ambiance to it. I'll see if I can find them again. We went there end of October last year and the place was practically empty... No waiting... I'm sure things will probably be different this year...

Disneyjunkie - I'm not sure whether there are any buffets in IoA or USF or not... I remember that Motown Cafe had a reasonably inexpensive buffet in CityWalk though.

More later.

This maybe a stupid question, considering I just looked at the menu and didn't see any mention of it, but does Tchoup Chop offer any sort of sushi platter?

I'm considering a Universal trip with my dad for our birthdays, and one of our main things is eating sushi. I figured that Tchoup Chop, being an Emeril's resteraunt with asian influence, would have some great sushi, but i don't see it listed in the menus online.

I haven't been there yet (will be in a couple of weeks), but from the menu, it looks like Tchoup Chop is more pacific rim than asian (think Roy's or Sam Choy's - I believe Sam was one of Emeril's inspirations). If you want raw fish, try the poke (it's marinated raw fish without the rice). And have a happy birthday!

According to Open Table, you do not have to confirm a reservation (at Tchoup Chop or anywhere else). Apparently, your original confirmation page will suffice. Is this true?

gschmerl
09-02-2003, 08:33 PM
I have seen several posts on this forum saying you have to call and confirm your reservation at Tchoup Chop by 3:00 on the day of your reservation.

JessicaR
09-02-2003, 09:39 PM
We ate at Tchoup Chop twice. Once in March and made the reservation at home by calling and we were told to confirm by 3P the day of reservation or it would be cancelled. Then in June I read about Open Table and made my reservation online with them. When we checked into hotel I asked the concierge if we had to call by 3P and he said no. Just to be sure I stopped by Tchoup Chop and the host said if I had confirmed reservation through Open Table I didnt have to call by 3P.

It doesnt hurt to make the call anyway since it seems they did or do have this 3P confirm rule. You can even ask concierge to make the call for you.

boyy
09-11-2003, 10:37 AM
I was wrong. We *are* being required to re-confirm by 3 PM our Tchoup-Chop reservation which was made via Open Table. Got a courtesy voicemail and e-mail about it.

I'm so upset, loved Emeril, even before he was "popular." And have been looking forward to getting down to one of his restaurants. However, it appears the 95% of the menu is seafood, or has a seafood item in the dish. Which totally stinks!
There are lots of people that are allergic to seafood, shame he can't offer more "land" lover dishes, as he does on the cooking show.
So I thought, with Tchoup-Chop being more Asian style, wish he did a home-cooked restaurant. The other one, in City walk, is basically the same type food, right? I really didn't want to try the one in City walk, because I saw more negative comments on that place.

I am going to be eating at Emeril's next week during my stay at RPR. I called ahead and left a message asking if there was indeed a kid menu of any kind. Less than 24 hrs later a very cheerful sounding hostess from the resturant itself called me to inform me that Emeril is very fond of kids and certainly has kids entrees to order in all of his resturants. They just dont print them on the menu by location to take away from the theme of each place (Tchop Tchop is Asian - NOLA- is southern french Emeril's New Orleans is straight creole/cajun w/ fusion cooking....etc etc) she said that in Orlando, since it is more family orientaited, they have mini pizza for kids, chicken fingers, and things like that. Just ask when you get there. I hope this answered your question, if you want more, go to Emeril.com and check out the site.

Entrees

Chicken Nuggets with dipping sauce.

Fettucine Alfredo plain or with shrimp added.

Chicken Spring Rolls with dipping sauce.

Baby Bam Burger with fries

Grilled Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes, green beans and a reduction sauce...(excellent my son gets this!)

Desserts

Ice Cream Sundaes

Gooey Ooey Brownies (depends on taste but my kids hated this it was way too rich)

Chocolate dipped strawberries (amazing and delicious)

Banana Pudding with homemade vanilla wafers.

This menu is for children 12 and under....Enjoy!

next available seating after your time,at Disney this sometimes means a very long wait but I've never had that problem at Universal.Arrive a little early just to be safe.I've never been seated anywhere at exactly the reservation time so there is little practical difference.I usually PS a liitle before or after peak dining times and am usually seated right away.

Regarding the issue of "how early can you book:"

I called Universal dining yesterday and spoke to a very helpful rep. For those looking to book reservations:

- Officially, seatings can be booked up to 60 days in advance, however.....

- the ressie system Universal uses often doesn't have complete seating windows open until just a few weeks before a given date.

As example, I wanted to book a dinner at Mythos for late August (about 32 days out from the day I was calling). The rep told me for the day I was looking at, the latest dinner seating his system was showing was 3pm. "3pm!??!"

He then explained that no, Mythos wasn't completely booked that night, but rather that the manager of Mythos (and every other sit-down restaurant at Universal) literally has to go into the system to "load" dining seating times for reservations, and has to do that separately for each day. He said that as a result, Managers often don't put the seating info into the system until a few weeks out for a given date.

Bottom line:

The real window for booking most Universal restaurants is something between 2-3 weeks in advance of your date. :rolleyes2

gschmerl
07-22-2005, 02:23 PM
I don't know how late the parks are open when you are going, but Mythos often only takes reservations as late as 3:00 when the parks are not open late.

I'll be going to Universal in March and have 2 questions at this point (sure I'll have some more as I read these threads and it gets closer to the date), but for now: is Mythos only open till 3pm or do you mean that they wont take ressies later than that at certain times? and , as we are staying on site, does that mean that I wont have to make any PS ressies because I'll just have ti show the room key? Thanks in advance, Im a big Disney fan, going back there in Oct. 06, so I'm wondering if I'll become a Universal lover as are many of the people on this board.

gschmerl
02-20-2006, 09:29 AM
March is spring break. Check Universal website for park hours. They may be open later. If so, Mythos will be open later. You can always call them to see. Your room key will get you "next available seating". If a lot of hotel guests are there before you, you could still have a wait. It never hurts to make a PS. Then you can also show your key when you get there. For Mythos, we usally stop in during the day and make a ressie for the time we want. If you want to eat at Emeril's in City Walk or Tchoup Chop, you need reservations in advance. You can make them on line at open table.

If you're going at a "not-busy" time, you should be okay. Most don't take ressie's (Emerils does) and you should be fine "flying by your pants" or just stopping in that morning to the restaurant to make res.

The only reservation I would make is if you want to eat at either of the Emeril's restaurants. If its a crowded time your going eat your meals early or late not with the crowds. If you want to eat at Mythos walk that way early in the day and put your name on the list. There are plenty of options to eat so if one is crowded move to the next and dont forget the onsite hotels have some great food options too.

If we eat at Emeril's for lunch will they validate our parking ticket? I am probably getting the 2 years for 1 deal but that will probably be our first visit back in July. Oh-where is Emeril's at City Walk? I have never noticed it!Thanks!

I just emailed Deb @ allearsnet about Confisco's updated menu. Hopefully she'll update it soon. There are more appetizers now and the main courses are a bit different.....and they added a "classic burger".....so, if you are looking for Confiscos' menu, hopefully Deb will update it soon!

That's another great thing about Universal is the dining. Mythos and the tree just down the way from it in Lost Continent are my favs, as well as Jimmy Buffets. The new Emerils Chop Tchop or however its spelled is also really good at the Royal Pacific. Not really a bad restaurant at any of the onsite hotels, so you probably counldn't go wrong at any of them. Havent been to Emerils at City Walk, but as for the others I have never needed a reservation, just always walked up with no wait. Mythos never waited one time and I have probably eaten there at least 6 or 7 times.
