Curious about conditions at the resort. Sounds like Fay decided to spend too long at Vero! Hopefully, it's only rain and not heavy winds.

I'm curious as well. Hoping all the DVC'ers and Dis'ers in the area are okay. Looks like a lot of flooding....not sure how the winds are/were. Hopefully someone will check in with us soon.

No one posted to this yet? That might not bode well. That area has gotten hammered. My DS8 said, "the poor turtles!"
Hoping someone checks in and lets us know how things are going down there!

Here's a link to the Caribbean Conservation sea turtle marathon:

so, apparently some of the turtles hatched before and are doing quite well! I check into that site to see about the turtles around Vero.

I don't know about the resort itself, but a friend of mine living in Vero about 10 minutes from the resort said that it isn't as bad as we're seeing on the news in some of the other areas. He had no flooding, just a lot of rain. According to this news article, unfortunately many turtle nests were lost along the coastline. http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2008/aug/22/30gtmosquitoes-buzzing-sea-turtles-struggle/

The winds weren't even hurricane force. This is a rain storm - not a wind storm. Unless there's flooding in Vero, there's no damage. I'm sure the resort's ok, as it's not built on the ground level.

I just returned from VB. Resort wasnt hit bad at all! Pool was closed for a day and a half but that is it.
On a bad note the beach was destroyed. For those familiar with the beach there is now a 3 - 8 ft dropoff from the ramp side entrance down to the beach. South side of the beach hit harder. 8 ft drop right in front of the Cottages. At high tide all of the chairs have water under them. You could actually see the old piers from the old prehurricane walkway!:scared1:
Dont fret though...... the beach is a beautiful as ever! As one CM put it..... "hey the beach is much more like it was prior to the hurricanes a couple of years ago." :)
Another bad note the turtle nest population took it pretty hard! I walked the beach last Wednesday (day after the storm hit) and say many turtle eggs and several dead baby turtles. Turtle troop did run as scheduled on Friday morning.
Nature has strange ways though... that same day the seaweed was about a foot deep covering almost the entire beach and more was coming in on the surf line. Yuk city!!!!!!! Smell aweful!!!! 24 hours later it was all gone! Not on the beach or in the surf line. I asked a CM if they had a seaweed eater to clear it up she said nope. :thumbsup2
In the end I suspect they will fix the beach after the turtle season to restore it back to its pre Fay beauty!
Happy to answer any other VB/Fay questions!
One last point... the poor folks in Villa 14 and 15 lost power for 24 hours!!!!

I'm sad to read about the turtles! Thank you for the information, though.
