Hey all! here is our new home.
DDA originally stood for Disney Design Addicts as most of the posters were addicted to making t-shirt designs. Those designers are still here and many many more people have joined our friendly community. We think that DDA still fits whether you be a Disney Design Addict, Dear Disney Addict, Disney Dream-aholics, Disney Dream Addicts or whatever other acronymn you'd like to throw in there.
Welcome to all the returning posters and welcome to any newcomers that might like to chat about design and all things Disney.
Copied from Deb and Theresa because they worded it so well.

Hmm. The sun was out for a minute, in that sun-through-the-pitch-black-storm-clouds sort of way, but it is gone again.
Princess is napping. Dadboss took the side rail off of her crib so she has more of a daybed now. As long as she stays in there that should be fine. She is getting kind of heavy to lift in and out of the crib. When Sister was her age she had her bed done the same way and she always stayed in there, so hopefully Princess will be the same way!

Jen If you get your own classroom when would the first day of school be? Our classes start next Tuesday, you won't have a lot of time to set up the room and come up with lesson plans :confused3

My house is fairly clean (I never hit our master bath). Dinner for Chris and the boys is in the oven. Dessert is in the croc pot. Now I can get changed to go to work. Chris called and he should be pulling in the drive just in time for me to pull out  Now wouldn't you think that I'd be tired enough to sleep tonight? I guess that only time will tell.

Yup. You manage. I was hired the week before school started and had about the same amount of time Jen will have to get ready. Imagine my shock when I went into my room and found NOTHING! No desks, no books, no supplies, etc. When the old teacher had left, all the other teachers came in like locusts and took everything. It was a challenge to round up enough desks and textbooks from teachers who really didn't want me around in the first place.

Um, that sounds gross. Did anybody try the strawberry milkshake ones? I was tempted to try those. Anything with artificial banana makes me gag. :scared: Even fresh banana isn't my first choice of flavors, but i do like banana shakes, banana splits and banana pudding (the good kind with Nilla wafers and fresh bananas).

yes we did. The envelope got a little wet and as Jeff went to pick it up off the porch it came open and the Documents spilt out. Luckily he saw the Mickey ears before Olivia did and picked it up before she saw anything.
I did not know that either about the twinkies. I might have to try them some time.

For a short time they had Twinkies with chocolate chips in the cake part. They were called leopard tails or something. Those were TASTY.
Hostess also had these mini blueberry pound cake things years ago that were really yummy, but they had like 30 grams of fat in them. :scared:
Ah, the good old days!
I am irate that WDW got rid of the Nestle ice cream sandwiches from the ice cream carts. Those were my favorite. A CM told me it is because they have trans fat in them. I don't like the ones they make in the bakery - I like the packaged ones! I did have an ice cream cone with "cookie swirl" ice cream but it wasn't quite as good as the sandwich would have been.

That's what we did for our wedding reception!!! My sister and I had a double reception, so we wanted to help keep costs down. We made over 500 mini cheesecakes in the weeks leading up to the wedding. We put a Nilla wafer in the bottom of a cupcake liner and then poured the cheesecake filling on top. They were so yummy!

To my taste, the strawberry wasn't too overpowering. Just enough. It really went well with the chocolate cookie.

That sounds delicious! Not sure what we're having because we haven't been to the grocery store yet! We had pizza Sunday, rotisserie chicken from Sam's Monday, an Applebee's last night. Maybe DH bought some food while DS was playing with his friends!

I'm making spicy crockpot chicken. I smothered 4 large chicken breasts with salsa in my crockpot. It's cooking now. At about 7:00, I'll shred the chicken and add a jar of Ragu double cheese sauce. Let it heat for about 10 minutes, then add some sour cream. I'm serving it over tortilla chips with a large salad with tomatoes and cucumbers from our garden. For dessert we'll have pumpkin muffins that I made earlier today. I love crockpot cooking, as it makes my afternoons so much easier since it just cooks itself!

we were going to have pork chops...decided that after eating lunch at 2:30 that I didn't want that much food so it will probably be mac & cheese and grapes and salad.

Neither do my children, so I use the extra mild salsa. It doesn't add heat, but a lot of flavor. I've found that the more sour cream you use, it can also dilute the heat of the salsa. It's a pretty forgiving recipe. You should play around with it, to get it to suit your tastes.

hmm the tomatos would cook so that would take care of the raw tomato problem. Now to see if this Ragu double cheese sauce does not have Monosodium Glutanate and I could try it.

Since we have quite a few going to disney in the next couple of months and one has requested that they get names beforehand I will start gathering names next week and will distribute the names before my "air" weekend.

My praises for the week is I didn't get the job I really wanted at my worship church back in July. I know it sounds funny but this past Sunday our church said there would be layoffs happening in the next month...so God showed me his time not mine
He also has given me the courage and gumption to run away for a weekend (my ticker). A friend put it so eloquently this morning "Good for you Theresa you need some air" Bless her, she's right. I've been floundering, drowning, grasping and gasping for so long I didn't realize I had lost air.

Natalie posted these on her just for grin thread. I thought some of you might like them,
Not sure where to post these so I'll just post them here. DS5 is starting full day kindergarten in a couple of weeks. (I can't believe it...) Anyway, I thought I'd do up some lunch love notes for him. I left blank space to write in his name and to sign it and write a little personalized note. I thought I'd post them here in case anyone else could use them. There kind of boyish. I could do some girl ones if anybody is interested. I've got several more pages I'm working on too. I'll post them as I do them.

Hi all...I've been MIA for a few days and really have no idea what's going on. Things here have been upside down and I haven't had much time to get on the computer.
First though, I need the power of the DDA's good thoughts and prayers. My mom went to the emergency room this afternoon with chest pains. They've run all the necessary tests and things seem ok. They are keeping her overnight so I just got home from there. I feel bad that I left her there. :guilty:
Molly, Eric and I are quickly nearing the end of a rope with one another. She has turned into this whining, horrible non sleeping mess. I am so trying to deal with her and not lose it but it ain't easy. Her sleeping is worse now than before. Still no naps, but also waking up around midnight and coming into our room and not going back to sleep til around 1. She is up by 5:30. I don't know how she functions but it won't be pretty once school starts.
I also found out today that one of my former co-workers died today from an overdose. She was good friends with my cousin Joe and our age, so it's unsettling. He seems to think that it may have been intentional which really saddens me.
I am off to try and get some sleep, sending out 's, :wizard: and :cheer2: for all.

So, let me share a "funny" Disney story.
I know I'm grown but I absolutely LOVE gummy bears, well with the sugar restrictions I haven't had any in quite some time. Imagine my excitement when I found Sugar Free Character Gummies at Goofy's candy store. I bought a bag and proceeded to eat most of it. Later when we were at Epcot my stomach started churning.
That's when I read on the bag, "Warning: Consumption may cause stomach discomfort and/or laxative effect."
Let's just say it's a good thing that Epcot has an abundant amount of facilities, they're not kidding about the warning!

Thanks everyone on your input on the email that I received about Hal and the golf cart incident. I cannot tell you how many times I read it before I even posted it. I kept thinking I was not reading it correctly. Then I got really mad that he had the BALLS to disregard Hal having his foot run over. As I was talking to Stephanie, I imitated the girl being "Bright and Cheery--tossing her long curls around saying Nuh uh" Naturally that had Stephanie laughing uncontrollably. This is one time that I will be very very carefull in what I say in my reply. That guy needs a lesson in the english language.

I'm home. I have had the worst headache and dizziness all night. I'm pretty sure it is all sinus related though it didn't start until I got to work :confused3 Thankfully the Advil and Tylenol PM that I took when I got home has helped tremendously. We are watching the woman's beach volleyball final. Very close match.
Chris said his visit with his aunt and uncle went well. He even found out a big tid bit of info that his mother neglected to share with us. Apparently his niece, you know the lazy, unemployed one with the baby that she will probably lose to the father...Well she is pregnant again. This time with TWINS :sad2: I don't know the details or even if there is a father in the picture. Maybe she did it on purpose since she'll likely lose custody of the first child :confused3 Maybe she needed the welfare check. Who knows. I just feel so sorry for those babies, that is certainly not a good situation to be born into.
And with that I'm heading to bed.

Have you tried telling Molly she isn't allowed to come out of her room? If she wants to be awake that's fine, but she has to stay in her room, quietly, until the clock says 6 AM? She has to understand that just because she is awake doesn't give her the right to wake everyone else up. I know her sleep study was inconclusive, but maybe you need to push your pediatrician to come up with something else. I know sleep requirements vary from child to child, but it sounds like something else is going on with Mo. Is she motivated by anything in particular? You can't force her to sleep, but if you can convince her to leave the rest of the family alone while she is awake it might help!

Oh, my! :rotfl2: Well, lesson learned! ;)
We are hosting Princess's play group tomorrow so I need to get some snacks and drinks today. Out of 10 kids we know one is not coming, one is a maybe, and 2 are coming. That leaves 5 that could show up, giving me a total of 8. :scared: The house isn't really big enough for 8 preschoolers so I am hoping we don't end up with that many! At least they all come with a grown-up so I won't be on my own with all of them. :rotfl:

I like the crockpot as well. That sounds like something Jeff would like. But I dont like spicy food.
And you live in the land of Mexican food and Tex Mex...:rotfl: I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Will you be going to San Antonio for the service?
Elizabeth -- sending prayers for Susan. How is your Mom doing? I'm not complaining about the rain yet, but I wasn't in Florida with you to get wet there. We are so down in rainfall for the year, that I think it could rain for the next week and all the tanks, lakes etc. would still be down feet in water. We've been having so many grass fires around here that it will be nice that the firefighters get a break -- especially the rural ones. I hope your DS had fun at the party yesterday.
Jen -- good luck with the teaching job!
I post on "When has God answered your prayers" (yes, I do cheat on you all...mainly when you are sleeping;) )
this is what I posted today and wanted to share with you all too:
My praises for the week is I didn't get the job I really wanted at my worship church back in July. I know it sounds funny but this past Sunday our church said there would be layoffs happening in the next month...so God showed me his time not mine
He also has given me the courage and gumption to run away for a weekend (my ticker). A friend put it so eloquently this morning "Good for you Theresa you need some air" Bless her, she's right. I've been floundering, drowning, grasping and gasping for so long I didn't realize I had lost air.
:grouphug: Congrats on the ticker!

Deb -- I hope you are feeling better today and the funk lifts. That is really sad about the niece...
Last night was a late night. I asked my SIL to help me finish a scrapbook I started years ago for my boss. Merrie does know about the book, but the last time she saw it, there were only about 6 pages done. It's a compilation of her family Christmas card photos. I'm now up to date.
I have been planning a surprise 60th birthday party for Merrie that is tomorrow night. She's been in Europe for two weeks with her daughter, so it's been fairly easy to get the planning done without her around. Her kids are so unpredictable, though, that I have a feeling it won't end up being a surprise for much longer. The son is in charge of getting her to the restaurant, and he's not very dependable... plus, I just found out this week that he thought it was a different day. He never returns my calls, so luckily I called the step-brother (who is a terrific kid) and have gotten most of it worked out.
Tonight is orientation (without kids) at school. We only have to do this when they move up to a different division, so we won't have to do it again for a few years. It's nice that if we have to go, it's for both boys and not on separate years. SIL is keeping them, but it will be another late night.
Have a great day everyone!
Robyn - I hope your mom is OK! :wizard:

That's exactly what we did with Alyssa this summer, since she tends to wake up with the daylight. I bought her a digital clock and she knows she has to stay in her room until the first number is an 8. Of course, she "sneaks" out every once in while to go potty, which is perfectly acceptable, but she knows to retreat back to her room. We need to buy her some black-out shades too, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Hang in there!

:grouphug: Congrats on the ticker!
Sending lots of prayers and PD. What did the sleep study find? Did the doctor have any advice? Is it because school is coming up?
:rotfl: I've so had similar issues before with sugar free/fat free items...
Good luck keeping the party a secret and pulling it off with little stress :cool1:
Sending lots of prayers your way, Robyn!
Don't waste money on the black out shades. I just did all of Colby's windows with them and it is no darker than before. The problem is that shades don't fit tightly to the edges of the window sills. There is room at the top and each side of the shades that allows them to function. Light floods in through those 1/2 inch spaces and totally negates the light blocking purpose. I think that heavy curtains work much better. Of course the curtains that are coming for Colby's room are sheers as that is all I could find in solid light yellow :headache:

Good Morning.
I'm heading out soon to grocery shop. The boys are going over to SIL's house to play on her Wii Fit so I will hurry as best I can to get all my errand run quickly. I have to have Colby at school at 1 PM for a mini orientation. SIL just told me that she heard that the bus schedule and routes will be changing this year as they are eliminating a bus. I have not heard this, but if she is correct it will mean a much longer ride for the kids. Last year the bus ride took them over 35 minutes anyway so how long can they expect kids to be on a bus? We only live 6 miles from the school :confused3 Of course my niece and nephew both get car sick so there is no way they will survive a longer ride especially since she heard it will be hitting the windy back roads instead of just the main roads it travelled in the past :headache: I'll ask about it today.

I should have known! :sad2: :rotfl:
I was so excited to have only a handful of pages to catch up on after 24+ hours, but then I found you all here, with 8 more pages!
Here's the previous stuff, I'll try and catch up here later!
Jennifer - I was hoping that your little ones would have had a better night last night. :( Good luck at the doctor today!
It appears we're going the other direction... at least half of us  Avery and I had pre-Zantac like night last night :confused3
Jennifer - let us know how the doctor's for the girls go!
Have a great day everyone!
Will do, as soon as I catch up! It's motivation ;)
Good luck. I just took a couple of days and had the boys try on all the clothes in their closets. Since sizes vary so widely I cannot just look at a tag to determine if it will fit Thankfully a lot still fit so I won't be going broke refilling their closets. I'm sure I can count on my mother for that with birthdays and Holidays right around the corner
This is exactly why I did it! The sizes run so differently, and even the weights they put on the tag don't work. The girls fit VERY nicely into most of their newborn clothes, and are swallowed by most 0-3 month clothes, despite being in the "correct" weight range for them. I think they just carry their weight well! ;) I started out arranging things by size, but then ended up moving them into groups based on how big they ACTUALLY are. What a mess!
I found the missing bag ...Cassidy was the one who picked up the mail...so I was talking about how there should have been a box key for the purse and she said "but there was!" Turns out she's never gotten the mail at package time so had no clue, I think she honestly thought the mailman just left a random key. :rotfl2:
Well I'm confused, so I can understand how the bag seemed to be missing! :rotfl: I'm glad you found it though! :)
We go to Disney in 30 days.
:yay:
I finally got around to going through my "other" e-mail inbox. There is a pool party for the incoming 7th grade boys TODAY. I called the mom who is hosting to let her know DS would like to attend. DH is already finished for the day and he took DS home so it shouldn't be a problem to get him to a pool party at 3 PM. Of course we are having thunderstorms so I don't know if the boys will do any swimming.
DS was kind of weird about it. He didn't want to go even though it looks like it will be a pretty small group. He said it is because he has a "shirt" tan from being at Disney. I can't imagine that is the real reason. Then he said he is worried that his ex-friend from elementary will bring the thug boy who picked on DS last year. While that is entirely possible (ex-friend's mom thinks Thug is a very nice boy), the other boys who will be there are not tolerant of Thug's behavior. I am pretty sure DS will be fine even if Thug is there. The boy who is hosting is one of DS's good friends, and I imagine there will be several moms there even if DH doesn't stay. Pretty hard to bully in that environment.
Did DS end up going? I hope he did, and that it went well!
Eeek!!! Don't remind me! I've got so much I have to do! We gave away everything after the twins were born; positive we were done. Oh well. At least I have a cradle for after he's born, clothes from my niece, and just last weekend, Alan bought a crib/dresser combo. It's really nice, too. The crib will convert to a toddler bed when the time comes.
I think that this weekend, we are going to move the twins out of the nursery into Jacob's room (we're picking up bunkbeds at IKEA on Friday afternoon, hopefully), move Jacob upstairs into the nursery (he wants to share a room with his brother), and get some walls painted. I wonder how much we'll actually get done?
You will be FINE! It sounds like you have things under control, and have great helpers! :goodvibes
well moms step mom passed away yesterday. not sure what day the funeral will be this weekend
I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss.
I'm hoping to try out the recipe that I found tomorrow. Today is cleaning. I'm not sure how I can clean all day every day and still find messes :confused3 The bug guy has come and gone. He said that he has talked to "experts" in the area and they feel that the bugs must be coming in from outside. So he did nothing in the house except putting sticky traps in the basement. He did spray the perimeter of the house so maybe that will help. :headache: If he had no intention of spraying the kitchen then why did I need to have everything in airtight containers :confused3
Wow, We're not making parenting older kids look so great to Jennifer are we :rotfl: :rotfl:
I am home by myself with 2 infants each day... THEY don't make a mess, I pick up after myself, and I still find the same thing!
As for parenting, funny you should say this ;) Kyle and I talked about this last night, when I tried to remind him that they'll grow out of these nights, and they'll become a distant memory just like my 30 minute sleep sessions while pumping. He decided to be a buzz-kill and say they'll always do things like this.... but I won the conversation :rotfl: I told him at least then, we get SOME verbal confirmation, however rare, that what we do helps them! :teeth:
I hate that! It throws the whole day, and no matter how much Tylenol I take, I can never get rid of them! I hope you feel better quickly.
I can so remember how relieved I was the first time I could take "real" medicine for my headaches!!
Please keep my friend Susan in your thoughts/prayers. Her dad has been diagnosed with very advanced colon cancer. :guilty: From what she has said I think it is inoperable, and widespread throughout his body. She is having a very hard time right now.
Oh how sad :( I will keep her and her family in my prayers!
I got there and met with the director, thep rincipal of the school that i have the long term position and the principal of the school where the kindergarten is. It was a quick 20 minute meeting, but they kept saying how well i did in all of my interviews with the district.
I will find out tomorrow or friday if i have my OWN kindergarten classroom!
Oh Jen, I SO hope you do!

But it's a job and you manage. :goodvibes
I was hired three days before Princeton started, and two of my AP 11th grade classes had summer reading. Of course, they read three books I had never read. Believe me, you manage. :rotfl:
Sending you lots of :wizard: Jen!
Yup.
Um, I'm thinking they need to hire teachers a bit earlier in the summer! Of all professions, you all have/had more preparation to do than most fields I can think of!
Sorry that I haven't had much time to post lately. I've been getting caught up most nights, but am still working of my really slow laptop. That and trying to finish getting our trip stuff in line, etc. Yikes! 30 days to go! Yippee!
I'm so excited for you all anbd this trip, since Phil is going! :yay:
I saw that at the store yesterday! I'm not fond of the chocolate cookie though... Hostess also came out with the originial twinkie again a few months ago (I never knew that twinkies started off being stuffed with banana flavor!).
I didn't either.... and EW!
I bought a box of the Oreo Cakesters and I was REALLY disappointed. I thought they were nasty. We haven't tried the Nilla ones - regular or strawberry.
I totally agree, what a letdown! My mom actually brought the strawberry Nilla ones a week or so ago, and I must say they weren't bad. Maybe it had to do with my poor expectations going into it :rotfl:

Thanks everyone on your input on the email that I received about Hal and the golf cart incident. I cannot tell you how many times I read it before I even posted it. I kept thinking I was not reading it correctly. Then I got really mad that he had the BALLS to disregard Hal having his foot run over. As I was talking to Stephanie, I imitated the girl being "Bright and Cheery--tossing her long curls around saying Nuh uh" Naturally that had Stephanie laughing uncontrollably. This is one time that I will be very very carefull in what I say in my reply. That guy needs a lesson in the english language.

I got my Mickey Monitor today! That is two in a row for our house. :) And, for once, there is something in there that Bob and I could do next month! Unfortunately Miss Tinker Bell does not interest either one of us to sit through the exclusive screening of her new animated movie at the MK. Anyone else going to be there on September 27th or 28th and have an AP?
I want Mickey Monitor! I thought for sure I got one last time I had exchange certificates..... no?
Oh Theresa, that is perfect!
Hi all...I've been MIA for a few days and really have no idea what's going on. Things here have been upside down and I haven't had much time to get on the computer.

Upside down is right! I will definitely keep your household in my prayers.... stop by when you can for a break! :grouphug:
:rotfl: Well, lesson learned! At least you can laugh about it! ;)
Deb, I hope you feel better soon. And :headache: (Chris's niece...)

I've gotten SO tired of Mom asking "who's coming to the wedding" and "what did they get" I ended up uploading an excel sheet to Google Docs. I have to say I now LOVE that site. It's great to only have ONE copy of something instead of one on my work computer, one at home, one in an email and did I save it...
I agree.... it's a fabulolus site! Of course, I used it more when I was at work, but still -- love it! That's a great idea too, I should have used it for our guests lists for the baby showers. I kept emailing between the hostesses, my mom, my work and my home addresses, and couldn't keep track of ANYTHING! (insert head-slapping smiley here)

The appointment yesterday went quite well! The girls' pediatrician is very excited about their growth, despite having reached it by drastically over-feeding them for a few weeks :rolleyes1
As predicted (thanks to the Wii fit :rotfl:), they weigh 9.8 (A) and 11 (E) pounds now! They are about in the 25th-40th percentiles for just about everything, give or take (exact percentages on the blog, if you care). Not bad coming from "below the 5th"! :thumbsup2 They'll probably settle back into the lower percentiles over the next 2 months since they won't be getting drowned in formula, but that will still be better than expected, so we'll take it!
They showed off a bit and he spent a lot of time checking milestones, etc and says they're more than on track for their chronological age, and "blowing away" the expectations for their adjusted age (~5 weeks). They freaked out of course with their shots, but it was short-lived -- much shorter than when they were sick and we ticked them off by suctioning them, so all in all it was not bad! :)
They're extremely fussy now, between not sleeping and the shots I'm sure, so we're staying in and doing a lot of nothing today. Maybe I'll stay more caught up! ;)
ETA: The plan for the formula for now is to use partilally-hydrolyzed stuff during the day, and the elemental formula at night. That, coupled with just a few select bottles/nipples, will go on for a couple weeks, so we can have more of a "control" to see exactly what is causing the distress. At this point, I'm just hoping they grow out of it!

Jennifer - I hope you see improvement in the girls over the next few nights! :wizard:
DS did go to the party yesterday. He enjoyed it for the most part. Thug was not there, but his ex-friend is really just a jerk now. The boys did end up going in the pool, and it sounds like the ex-friend was being pretty rough. Unfortunately DH just dropped DS off so there wasn't anybody to tell the ex-friend to back off. There were 4 moms there, including the ex-friend's mom, but she was busy chatting and didn't notice that her son was attempting to drown mine. :headache:
DS had a good time with the other boys, so I think he is glad he went. I need to make a serious effort to invite kids over on the weekends. I tend to be hermit-y on weekends and I don't want extra kids in the house, but I think DS needs to strengthen his friendships so he will have some allies. I also need to see if the boys I *think* are good for him to be around are REALLY good for him. I can evaluate them more effectively if we invite them over. I have no problem with his 2 friends from last year, but they weren't at the thing yesterday. One of them lives really far - his parents are teachers so he goes to our school on a transfer order.
Deb - I hope you feel better soon!

I am not all that wise to the ways of middle school boys, but if I had to guess, I think maybe ex-friend is jealous that DS is friends with the other 2 boys I mentioned. I don't know if that is putting too much "girl" mentality into it, though. I think it might have something to do with the ex-friend not wanting DS to have more friends than he has?
Neither DS nor ex-friend are in the popular crowd, but the popular kids aren't mean to them. 2 of the boys who were at the party yesterday are boys I would consider popular, so it would be good if they got to know DS better and consider him a good guy, even if DS himself isn't popular.
DS's social studies teacher told me last year that the dynamics change in 7th grade and that the kids are much "meaner" (if that's a word). I think there is more interaction between 7th & 8th graders, where the 6th graders are kept pretty much separate. I don't know if those 16 year olds finally managed to make it out of 8th grade or not, but even if those specific 2 are gone there may be some other pretty scary 8th graders. :scared:

Alan found out the same thing the hard way as he consumed an entire bag of sugar free chocolate covered peanuts. Unfortunately, he wasn't around any facilities, but he was on a mountain side. Let's just say his inner mountain man came out that day!

I am going to go to Salt Lake City...it's an inexpensive flight and I can finally meet Glynis. :lovestruc
I'm always jealous that some of you all live so close to each other. Glynis is the closest to me and I have to take an hour and a half flight to see her!!
I told Cassidy last night...I only have to tell Abi and Jim. (and buy the tickets:rotfl: )
And I am THRILLED BEYOND BELIEF!!!! I'm afraid I'm going to overplan so when Theresa leaves here, she won't want anything to do with me anymore!!!
Seriously, we are going to have a great time. Just relaxing, chatting, eating, and doing whatever we want to do!

Well, I'm all caught up!
Jennifer - I'm glad the girl's appointment went well. Congrats on them being where they should be! That's huge among multiples! Leslie was not at her best until after she turned 1.
Jen - I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear!
Theresa - I'm so flippin' excited about your trip!!! Is it the end of September, yet??? Alan wants to know if you are interested in a Dutch Oven dinner with our family. Either in a park or up a canyon. Let me know!
Amy - How's Noah doing, sleepwise, now? Any improvement?
Robyn - I just saw something on the news here about a mom who was tired of her kids waking her up each night because they were scared of monsters. She made up a "formula" in a spray bottle of water with a few drops of essential oil in it. She called it Monster Spray, and lets the kids spray it in their rooms and on their beds to keep away monsters and bad dreams. If that's what's plaguing Molly, maybe something like that would help.
Well, I have to run to the store today. We're getting bunkbeds this weekend, and I need to get sheets to fit twin mattresses. Mary wants High School Musical sheets and Leslie wants Hannah Montana sheets. Walmart, here I come! My sister has been clipping diaper coupons for me, so I use one each time I go to the store. Gotta start stocking up.
Talk to you all later!

Robyn  :wizard: for your mom and for you, Eric and Molly. Sorry about your friend. Have you heard anything about the Job?
oh my good golly it sounds absolutely stressful at your house...I hope and pray it settles down soon. :wizard:
Robyn........... :grouphug:

Sounds like you could use a ton of Pixie Dust :wizard:
Robyn sounds like you have a lot to deal with right now. Prayers for your mom & lot's of  & patience for you.
 and a few more
Robyn, plenty of good thoughts for your family.
Jen get better fast!
Robyn, poor Mo! Hope things settle down for her quickly so that you all can get the rest you need!
Morning DDA!
Robyn - :grouphug:
Robyn - I hope your mom is OK! :wizard:
Sending lots of prayers and PD. What did the sleep study find? Did the doctor have any advice? Is it because school is coming up?
Sending lots of prayers your way, Robyn!
Robyn - It sounds like your household, and particularly you, my friend, could use an enormous  right now. I am so sorry all this stuff is going on for you and your loved ones.
Upside down is right! I will definitely keep your household in my prayers.... stop by when you can for a break! :grouphug:

You guys are so wonderful!!:goodvibes :goodvibes I talked to my mom this morning and she sounds good. They ran more tests today and hopefully will come to an answer. I really think that it is stress/anxiety related. She is miserable at work, and has another 2 years left before she can retire. And then the whole situation with my sister I am sure is adding to it because no matter how much my sister talks the talk that she will be just fine my mom surely knows better.
Mo slept through the night last night. :yay: Most of the issues have stemmed from the switching of the girls' rooms around. Mo and Lucy are now in the same room and Mo hates it. I think she got used to having Emma in the room with her and knowing that she could go to Emma's bed if she needed/wanted to. She can't quite climb in the crib with Lucy, although I wouldn't put it past her. We switched the rooms the weekend after her surgery so I know it was a lot of change for her. It wasn't the best time but I wanted the transition to be done before school started. Hopefully the worse will be over soon!! I am praying that once she settles down her sleeping patterns are much better and if they aren't than we'll be back to the drawing board. I do think that the surgery has eliminated her chronic stuffiness so that's a good thing. And when she starts school she'll be gone from noon-2:30 M,W,F and that's our rough time, so I am looking forward to the change in routine. Thank you all for all of your thoughts, ideas and advice!! It really is appreciated.
I had every intention of catching up a bit but I ran out of time. The girls and I are headed to lunch and then to Emma's school to meet her new teacher. It is gorgeous here so a stop at the park may be in order too.
Have a great day and I'll try to get back on tonight.

Jennifer (bear) - so sorry to hear about your mom's stepmom. I hope whomever is traveling to the funeral has a safe trip. Yay for documents!!!
Elizabeth - I, too, miss the Nestle ice cream cookie sandwiches. I dragged Jonathan all over the MK in December hunting for one until I finally asked and they said they weren't carrying them any more. :sad2: That was one of our Disney traditions. I can buy them at the convenience store down the street, but it's just not the same. And of course, it was easier to keep those 30 grams of fat to vacation time! ;)
Glad Princess was excited to see you guys, and that DS's party went well!
Theresa - yay for a get-away! That is wonderful - I'm sure you and Glynis will have a wonderful time together! :goodvibes
Robyn - lots of   :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for you and your family. I'm glad that things are looking a little brigher this morning, and I hope your mom continues to do well, and that you've turned a corner with Molly. I hope Emma likes her new teacher!

Marci - good luck with Merrie's surprise party! I hope her kids can keep their mouths shut for one more day. ;) I also hope tonight at the orientation goes well, too. Do your guys start Monday like most of the other schools?
Well, I need to get back to work. I am so looking forward to tonight, though. My in-laws are coming into town this weekend :rolleyes1 , and I spent all last weekend, plus every night after work this week cleaning my house from top to bottom. It had been neglected so long with all my summer craziness, so it needed a lot of TLC. The good news - I finished last night around 12:30 a.m., so I'm going to go home tonight and do nothing but what I want to do - which will probably include DIS'ing and making a packing list for our cruise. I also need to come up with some "important" errands I need to run to get me out of the house (solo) while my IL's are visiting. ;)

More good thoughts for your mom! :wizard:
DS is in a huge royal snit today. Not sure if I set him off by telling him I think he should invite friends over more often. :confused3 He has his knickers in a knot about something and he is taking it out on me. He is all irritable and grouchy and jealous of Princess. Tomorrow is his last day at work with me. I know he's not looking forward to going back to school, but I don't think I could put up with his crummy attitude if he stayed home much longer!

Nick had a hard time with "monsters" when he was younger. We tried monster spray (we used vanilla scented air freshner), monster powder (baby powder sprinkled around and dream catchers. Finally I came up with my own concoction. I made a stuff star shaped small pillow. I called it his sleep star. I told him that it would catch all the bad dreams and monsters while he slept and he would know it was working as it would start to get dirty. When it got dirty we would put it in the washer and wash it, washing all the bad dreams away in the process. That sleep star worked like a charm. I ended up making him a few over the few years that he still believed he needed it. Hunter also had one since his big brother did.
Grocery shopping is done though much still needs to be put away. Colby has been properly orienated to kindergarten. He walked into school just like he had been going for years. He also got to ride the bus, but clearly did not need Mom with him. I stayed at the school and waited. He is such a big boy. There were kids clinging to the parents and some crying, but my little man was just happy to finally be there.
Now to finish putting groceries away and do a bit of cooking.

I don't know. Maybe I am reading too much into it. (Giving the ex-friend too much credit.) It is entirely possible the ex-friend is turning into a jerk for no particular reason, and he is picking on DS because he wants to. Or because he knows DS's weak points since they used to be friends. :confused3
DS acts all indignant like he doesn't care, but I do think it hurts his feelings. Mostly because they used to be really good friends and he doesn't understand what happened to change that. I had a different best friend every year from 5th grade up through high school, so I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. What I do think is bad is when an ex-friend turns into a bully. When I changed best friends it wasn't like I was mean to the girl who used to be my best friend, we just didn't hang out together all the time anymore.

I think I have stumbled upon something even worse than the design threads! It always amazes me how people will ask for this, and this, and this, and that, and this other one, but change it to be like this, oh, and...:headache:
I was browsing the threads on the DVC rent/trade in case there were points for transfer I could grab. The people who are looking for ressies are like the seagulls from Nemo! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! :scared:
One poor guy SPECIFICALLY said how many points he has for transfer, how much per point, and that he wants them done IN ONE TRANSACTION, not a bunch of little piddly ones for different people. 2 people have offered to take the lot off his hands (but severely undercut his price) and everyone else wants little short ressies! Are people illiterate? The funny thing is the low post count on most of the replies. I don't think I would be jumping at the chance to make ressies for people who blatantly IGNORE the guidelines in the first post, especially if they have fewer than 10 posts.

If it was just the rough housing I'd say not to worry too much about it. Boys that age play VERY rough, much rougher than I allow when I'm around, but it appears to be normal. When Nick is in the pool with boys his own age there is a lot of drunking and knock downs and they all like each other. Remember I chaperoned the 6th grade field trip to the lake? If you stumble upon a good one, let me know! We had 2 different ones in '07 - one was an agency (who kept breaking things while dusting, and hiding the evidence! ), and the other was a woman who did it independently, and had been cleaning a friend's house for years. We ended up getting rid of both - the first for obvious reasons, and the last just because she wasn't doing THAT great of a job for what we were paying her to come every other week. I know no one will clean my house quite as thoroughly as I will, but it still wasn't good enough. Although I do not like cleaning in the little free time I have, I also like not seeing that $$ fly out the door each month for mediocrity. (I also hate the idea of someone in my house when I'm not home.) Good luck!

Yes, that is what I need to do. ;) My mom's b-day is also next weekend, and I need to figure out what we're getting her.
I really shouldn't complain - I certainly don't have IL's from Hades, but they do pick the absolute WORST times to come visit. I sometimes wonder if they don't do it to irritate me! Plus, they have to be entertained non-stop. Did I mention they want to go to a rodeo?! :upsidedow

I do agree with you, Elizabeth. If I were ever in a position to rent out my points, I would do as those DVC'ers I've worked with in the past - not entertain silly offers, and have a very clear contract, asking price, and payment deadlines. That's really the only way to do it because people will take such advantage. As it is, renting points is such a steal at the $10-$11 per point - IMO, members should collectively raise the rate by a couple of dollars, to keep up with inflation. It would still be a much better deal than if they were booking with Disney directly.

I definitely think there is animosity from the other boy. Whether it stems from jealousy or "mean-ness" is what I'm not clear on. DS said none of the other boys were acting that way, the ex-friend was encouraging the other boys to get involved and try to knock DS off the float, etc. Luckily none of the other boys took him up on the offer. I know this boy is very intent on impressing Thug and proving that he can be a thug, too. It is interesting to me that he is mean even when Thug isn't around.
I noticed at WDW that DS has NO sense of self-preservation. None. He will stand right up behind someone and never consider that he will get stepped on if the person takes a single step back. It doesn't occur to him to move to the side when he sees a kid swinging a light saber, or a bag, or a plastic rifle. OF COURSE the kid is going to whack him! :headache: DS just doesn't seem to possess the ability to anticipate when an accident is imminent and plan to avoid it. We kept him on his Focalin through the entire trip, so it wasn't because he was off his meds. I will talk to the Dr. about it tomorrow. I have no idea how to teach him to analyze a situation so he can plan for what might happen. If I point out that he should have realized he was going to get whapped and he should have moved over he gets REALLY insulted.

Lindsay - I phoned The Maids because that is who my cousin in KC uses. I expected them to be expensive, and they are. Our apartment would be $93 + Tax every week and it's only 1100 square feet! Every other week would be $116. My bosses don't pay that much for their house, and they have more than 1100 square feet! But the lady they use isn't that thorough, either! The lady who cleaned for the boss I had before Brother & Sister was awesome, but it has been almost 5 years since I saw her so I have no clue if she still cleans. :confused3 I also don't know how to get in touch with her.

I wonder if that is just an ADHD thing? It's like Jim just doesn't "see" anything in the world that could hurt him or that he could hurt somebody. I've said sorry to more people for him then I ever have for the girls.:headache: Though Abi does come close (but I do also think she is slightly ADD....I've just been trying to teach her to be hyper aware since she was little)

I used to clean houses for a living :scared: I did a very thorough job and charged $25/hour. Most people needed only a couple of hours each week to keep things up. I would certainly charge more now, but then again I don't think I'd clean houses again. Keeping up with my own is a full time job in itself.

Pack meeting should be fun tonight. They are roasting hot dogs and s'mores, and retiring a couple of flags. Jacob's never seen that done, so it should be interesting. He's also earning a couple of beads and some belt loops. He's worked so hard this summer. I'm very proud of him!

Well, that sucks!
Once upon a time I belonged to a gym that shut down, but I had the monthly auro-draft and when they closed the drafts stopped so I really wasn't out too much money.
It appears that I missed the window of opportunity for strawberry Oreos. I looked for them at the grocery and at Target and they didn't have strawberry. They had mint, plain, peanut butter (yuck), chocolate creme, and golden.

Well I flew this past my Devils Advocate-- Stephanie and she liked it so I sent my reply to the "Nice & Bright" guy :lmao:
Mr L,
I would like to thank you for your apology.
I must however, disagree with the wording of your letter.
1. The most important matter is the fact that the young lady DID run over my husband's foot. She could have hit his leg since she was close enough to run over his foot.
She sure was 'nice and bright' while she was shaking her head saying "Nuh huh" when we told her she did in fact run over his foot. That was not the time to be 'nice and bright'
2. Her first action should have been to immediately apologize, offer to get help, ice or whatever was needed to rectify her neglect.
3. She should not be allowed to drive the golf cart anymore. I cannot even begin to wonder what would have happened if a child had been with us and decided at that moment to jump around or if she had actually hit my husband's leg or hit someone much older with more force. This must be addressed to everyone who drives the golf carts.

My youngest son Steve (age 29) left yesterday at about 1pm to drive back down to Florida. All he had to do like he did the first time was call to say "Mom I am here"
I have been waiting since last night as long as I could, and then this morning to hear from him. I think I called him about 5 times. I had my phone on all day at work. I even called his girlfriend and finally the other roommate and practically yelled into the phone---"he better call me. I am just about ready to start driving down to look for his vehicle". sooo--- he called about 20 minutes ago finally to tell me the usual lines of S**t. I got there at 6:30 this morning, I was tired, I didn't want to talk to anyone,,,,,blah blah.
I could have ripped his head off if I could have reached thru the phone to do so!!! AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH :headache:

Maybe it's just me, though. :confused3

That's the thing - if I could find someone that really DID the deep cleaning, I would have no problem paying it (and it's not like Jonathan and I make big messes to begin with). I about fell over when I opened our electricity bill today - our bill (which in our 4 years in our house has never been more than $350 in some really bad summers) was over $600 for this month! There is absolutely no freaking way that could be right - we have an automatic thermostat that raises the temp when we're not at home, we haven't changed any of our habits, etc. Last month was hot, but not enough to warrant a 275% increase over the previous month's usage. I'm foaming at the mouth to call our electricity provider in the morning. I'm thinking there has to be somethng wrong with the meter.

Terry - I think your letter to the manager is well thought out and articulate.
I think your son was downright rude not to call you!

Where is everyone hiding tonight?
I was out to dinner with Bob and Kristin. We sat outside and shared lots of small plates and a bottle of wine. It was delightful! Now I am trying to catch up here!

I am not finding anything interesting to watch on the Olympics tonight. It may be just that I very tired from staying up so late the past week to watch swimming and gymnastics. I think I will go to bed a little earlier tonight. See you tomorrow, everyone!

Gary I & went to Menard's looking at different lighting for the kitchen. I think we have decided on what we want. We did buy a couple of Tiffanny fixtures that were on sale that will hang over the counter he will be making that will be between the kitchen & dining room.
We also bought a really nice toaster oven & an electric skillet, I gotta have something to cook with lol
Right now I am relaxing & watching men's beach volleyball. The USA womens team kicked butt last night!

Adian update:
Sleep Study
Posted 3 hours ago
Well our next big step in Trach removal will be Friday Night. Aidan and I will be staying overnight in Plano at a Sleep Study Institute. Aidan will wear his cap on his Trach all night and they will monitor him and see where his stats go. If all goes well, then the doctor's will get together and discuss the pro's and con's of removing his trach at this time. It's a big step and late in the season, but if they can't find a good reason to keep it in, then they will be removing it I feel.
This week was a little touch and go with the weather and a few allergies kicking in. We need to learn how to protect him from allergies and what to do if he does get congested. Right now it is easy to pop off the cap and suction that flem and such. Not sure what we will do if that entry is gone, but I'm sure they can tell us if we get there.
On a side note, Daddy is still looking for a job that he wants to enjoy for a long time to come and not just one to bring home a paycheck. Prayers for this search would be much appreciated. One that I was quite excited about, didn't pan out at this time as I'm just the father of a Cochlear Patient and not an active wearer. If they don't find an active wearer though, then my name will bounce back to the top of the list. Waiting is the hardest part and certainly doesn't pay any bills.

I agree on both counts!
Your DS sounds like my mother. That's the sort of thing she does all the time. I will be sitting waiting to hear from her, calling all sorts of numbers, and eventually she pops up fine and dandy.
Speaking of my mother, I need to call her. Since she is back at work I can't call her in the middle of the afternoon anymore.
So we are hosting Princess's play group this morning. I am not really looking forward to it. Hopefully we will manage! Dadboss still has the cover on the pool since we were all on vacation last week and it has rained every day since we came home. At least I don't have to worry about anybody falling in the pool! ;)

I got this in reply this morning. Much better
Mrs. H:
You are correct, the wording was not appropriate. Instead of arguing, Ixxx should have made every effort to help the situation. Arguing did not aid the situation.
Regarding our nice and bright policy ... you are correct, in this instance, that was not the time to be nice and bright. Rather, it was the time to do something, such as, ice or aid as you suggested.
I appreciate your point of view and again offer my apologies for this unfortunate accident.

This is much better though it sounds like the standard, tell the customer anything to make them happy approach  I hope that they actually do something to prevent accidents like this from happening in the future.
