I have to tell you, I think finding a large enough estate is going to be a problem. A search for Orlando pulls up nothing larger than 7 bedrooms. There is one that recently sold that has 12 bedrooms, and it was only $11 million. I found another really cool one for $37 million, but it isn't that close to WDW. There was another one for about $14 million that had 16 bedrooms, but again, not THAT close to WDW. We might have to build something.

Considering DVC would cost $2.6 million for one studio, a staffed house might work out to be less expensive. Possibly. :rolleyes1

I know! So, since you have had even more time to look into this than I have... you can contact the contractor and have the plans drawn up and find the lot and supervise the building of our mansion. Or, we can all go together and buy a bunch of DVC points! :thumbsup2

Can someone help me think of some mantra to repeat before I throttle DH? For the life of him he can not seem to grasp the process of posting photos and he is going to drive me up a tree! :headache:
He's mad that I posted "his" photos, but he SHOULD be GRATEFUL that they are already in Photobucket so all he has to do is copy and paste the code!:headache:

Since Disney sold 298 acres to 4 seasons why couldn't they sell some to us :confused3 They're aren't using the tree house villas. I'm sure a little home improvement and we could use those. We could have our own little community rather than one Mansion. ;)

So which ride would you choose?

The boys and I choose Expedition Everest. We could live inside the mountain and we'd have a spectacular view from the top. We could even view the Savannah.

DS also brought home a packet about going to Washington, DC. In JUNE. For 3 days, to the tune of $1500! :scared1: Registration deadline is Oct. 31. Gee, let me think. NO! Definitely NOT. I will look at the packet but I am really not interested in sending him. Of course he is already arguing that ALL of his friends are going. I doubt it. DH said it will be like ALL of his friends going on the band trip to Six Flags. In the end almost NONE of his friends went! And that didn't cost $1500!

Garrett mentioned this last year & then we both sorta forgot about it. I felt really bad as some of his friends did go & they said they had a lot of fun. Our cost was $1200. I'm sure Riley will have the opportunity as well & if he really wants to go I will let him if we have the funds.

Chanon & Janet,

From Allears..(oohhh QUEEN beds!)
Coronado Springs Resort is undergoing some upgrades over the next several months. The resort is in the process of replacing its double beds with queens (the Rancho section is complete, as are Casitas 4 & 5). In addition there will be new furniture to suit modern tastes, but still in theme. One hundred rooms will get upgraded to king beds (CSR will then have 224 king rooms). All of the rooms are getting flat screen TVs. Tables are being replaced with desks so that floor space is preserved after putting in larger beds. In addition to these room changes, one Coronado Springs building will be transformed into a "Business Club" building. All Business Club Level rooms will have two queen-size beds or one king-size bed, desk and chair, vanity area with sink, a ceiling fan and a bathroom. These rooms offer views of the lake, courtyard or parking lot. Business Club Level services include personalized Front Desk and Guest Services, turndown service and a lounge with continental breakfast, midday snacks and evening wine (additional fee) and cheese. Amenities include DVD player, in-room wall safe, voice mail, data port, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, mini-fridge, robes and coffee maker. A crib is available upon request. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. Most of these updates are being made with a minimal impact on guests.

That is very cool news. I had not read my newsletter yet. We really like CS and this might push us into booking it more often.

Chris and I went back on our diet today. We haven't done so since early in the summer and it really shows. I guess my Mother did too, but we had no idea that the other was planning to do so :rotfl: We've been really good, but I must say that I'm really hungry and we already ate. I did make a pot of low point soup so we can snack on that later. Hopefully we can stick to it now that the kids are back in school. If I don't loose weight before winter I will need new pants:scared:

I didn't gain weight at WDW, but I have porked out a bit since we got home. Or maybe it was a delayed gain from WDW. Anyway, I could definitely stand to take off about 10 pounds. I won't do it, but it would be a good idea.

Elizabeth if you chose this, we can share!

Works for me!

I would run the movie in France and live in an apartment above!

We saw the France movie for the first time this year. I really enjoyed it! Well, mostly. There was a kid SCREAMING for about the first half. The mother FINALLY decided to take him outside. Then the middle section of the screen went black for several minutes, so we just had the peripherals. Still an enjoyable film! :rotfl:

Garrett mentioned this last year & then we both sorta forgot about it. I felt really bad as some of his friends did go & they said they had a lot of fun. Our cost was $1200. I'm sure Riley will have the opportunity as well & if he really wants to go I will let him if we have the funds.

If the itinerary was something I thought DS would really enjoy I would be more likely to let him go. He isn't big on US history or government, and it looks like they are going to be packing a BUNCH of stuff into those few days. I know when I did a tour of the San Diego Zoo as part of a nanny conference we just got a short little tour of the zoo, dinner, and that was it. I wish I could have spent the whole day there! I think we would be better off going as a family so we could focus on things DS would really enjoy and take it at our own pace.

Both kids had great days at school. The reason Nicholas was hoping for the teacher that he got is because the teacher gives out candy. Today he got 5 Hershey kisses. They also give the 3rd graders planners. Pretty nifty thing if I don't say so myself. They are approx. 5x9, at the top of each page is a place to write the date, then rows under that date for each subject where he can write in his homework and due date. Then there is a check box that gets marked when the work is completed. He said he would start getting homework next week. They are also starting a new special this year. Once a month, instead of library, they are having guidance/counseling.

I'm not sure WHY they are offering it to 7th graders. Momboss asked me if it isn't usually 8th graders. DS's class is TEXAS history, so it seems odd to go to DC. Why not take them to Austin? I might even agree to let him go on an Austin trip! :rotfl2:

I started a load of towels in my washer this morning, and thought that my washer was dying. It would run for 5 minutes and then stop for 5 minutes. After a couple of times, I went in to see what was going on....Alan had decided to wash some of his clothes, and the bonehead put the washer on the handwash cycle! Tell me, please, why do his jeans need the handwash cycle??? I usually put them on the heavy cycle! I was so happy that I wasn't going to have to spend money on a new washer!

Well, we got the boys room finished up last night, and Jacob's furniture put back in place. Then, Alan brought the crib pieces in and put it together. Before I can put the mattress in, he needs to add a piece of plywood underneath to strengthen it. Hopefully, he'll do that tomorrow. It's really starting to look good! Once I get the curtains up, and the crib sheets, etc., put on I'll take pictures for y'all. Tomorrow I'm going to find a pad for the changing table!

I wasn't able to get on earlier, as Katie tied up the computer with her homework. She's doing a project on famous world landmarks. She's found pictures, and spent hours today researching each landmark. She's about halfway done, and then we'll print it and all the pictures off to make a poster for her class. It's nice to see her excited about homework (because it wasn't math!!!). Makes for a much nicer afternoon!

I'm off to bed!

Well, I am falling asleep at the computer, so I'm off to bed. Thank you all so much for your good thoughts and prayers. I love you all so much.

Too sweet! :goodvibes: Steffy, I'm so glad to hear he is doing so well!

I'm so sorry, Kristine! Nothing like an unexpected purchase to drag you down.

Those are some pretty special jeans! ;)

I'm so impressed! You're more on top of things than I was expecting twins and bedrest/early delivery! :thumbsup2

Riley Has the insect project, ugh! I do not mind collecting them, it is just the freezing & keeping them that creep me out. We had to do this with Garrett in 7th grade, wish I would have remembered so we could have been collecting over the summer!

I also had a small project to do myself & it earned Riley 20 extra points. I had to tell about Riley in a million words or less. I did not make the million though :rotfl:

Anne Marie I hope that NC works out for you if that is what you want. How soon would you be moving?By January...we paid 1/2 year tuition for Daniel already & it would give us more time to check out the schools.

How exciting! When will Dana know for sure?

They said the job is pretty much his but we have to find a good location. We have to find the right school for Daniel & his special needs. Apparantly alot of NC schools are based on lotteries to get in. We can't go & then he does not get into the right school or we will be back to square one with him.

I never received the link to see your pictures Anne Marie :sad1:Oh no! I sent it yesterday..I will try again now.

I am waiting for my cd & then I can share. I went in on a photo pass share & other peoples pictures(I do no know them)were on the site as well.

I do have a link for the pictures I took if you would like to see them.Me me!!! Can I see??

that is very exciting, Anne Marie. Raleigh or Charlotte?

Tell Dana congratulations from Bob and me! :goodvibesThanks!!! We are looking at the suburbs of Raleigh (closer to the beach you know! :lmao: )

:cool1: :cool1: on both counts!Thanks!

From us too!Thank you!

Anne Marie - Congrats to Dana for how the NC job is looking! That is great news.

I am going to have a long day. Princess has a friend coming over at 9:15 AM. The housekeeper is coming today around noon since Monday was a holiday, so that means naptime will be all screwy. I'm turning in early tonight. I gave up my diet Cherry Pepsi (at least in huge quantities) when I started my diet today. I'm hoping that I will sleep better.

I hope you got more sleep. I also have put on a few pounds lately and have started really watching it more.

You could delete them all and make him do them...:rotfl:

Both kids had great days at school. The reason Nicholas was hoping for the teacher that he got is because the teacher gives out candy. Today he got 5 Hershey kisses. They also give the 3rd graders planners. Pretty nifty thing if I don't say so myself. They are approx. 5x9, at the top of each page is a place to write the date, then rows under that date for each subject where he can write in his homework and due date. Then there is a check box that gets marked when the work is completed. He said he would start getting homework next week. They are also starting a new special this year. Once a month, instead of library, they are having guidance/counseling.

That is awesome. The pics you posted were terrific of both of them.

I am way back but decided to let you all know about my Dad before I caught up.

Another busy day here, but it's only supposed to get up to 82! Yahoo! It's also been raining a little, but I wish we would get more rain. We are still having lots of grass fires in my area.

They took them all down :guilty:

I could have sworn we same at least some of them when we went to SSR in August. I must be losing my mind:confused3

Ah you looked great too! I do not diet very well either. I did ok for a while, but there is so much I like to eat :rotfl:

I'm afraid we all love to eat that is why we diet. If we could behave all the time it would be a lifestyle change and there would be no need to diet :rotfl: I love soda and sweets. I could easily give up meats and veggies, but I NEED my sweets. Therefore I can behave short term knowing that there is an end in site.

I'm sure someone has probably already told you by now, but the Treehouse Villas were torn down this summer. Chuck got some pictures of them tearing one down while we were there in June. The rumors are that they are going to rebuild and it will become part of Saratoga Springs.

So I did not sleep well at all again. I think I barely slept. I have taken tylenol pm for years to help me sleep and it appears that it doesn't work anymore. I took it to sleep better and it helped to dry up all the allergy crud in my throat at night. Since it hasn't helped me sleep this week I tried drastic measures yesterday and did not have caffiene after 2 PM, No sweet, turned off the computer early, watched the weather channel rather than an engaging show. :confused3 I know that I'll want a nap with Colby this afternoon, but then I won't want to sleep tonight. I think it's because I know this is my last child. When I had the others, we were not at a place, financially, that I could really do what I wanted to with the nursery. Now that we're a bit more stable, I really want to make this special for Peanut. It's helping the other kids, too, as they are giving input and helping to make the room ready for him. Ok, sorry to bust out all the video links apparently! :rotfl:

This is totally random, but I had to share with someone! If you're bored, check out this "trailer" from a friend of mine's wedding. The videographer hasn't finished yet because he has "too much good footage" (rough problem to have, no?) but I think it's going to be ridiculous!!! I want to plan a wedding again!

A sign that you've been on the DISboards too long...

...you see the initials ABD on a dance floor and you immediately think of Adventures by Disney.

Great video clip!

Oh yeah, but I usually have a headache at some point each day anyway. Allegies suck. I'm not sure if todays is different than any other though.

Thanks!

Deb - I hope your headache isn't too horrible! I absolutely can NOT go without caffeine. I went without during my first trimester of pregnancy, and I went without for the 5 months that I nursed, but now I wouldn't think of going without!

I had 2 cups of coffee this morning (out of the BIG DVC mug Kristine sent me ;) ) and I had a diet Dr. Pepper with lunch.

Because of my sleep or lack of sleep issues, I'm willing to give it up. I really hope that this helps me sleep. The only time that I get a good nights sleep is at WDW because I'm on the run for so long I just crash. My life here is no where near as hectic. Supposedly, you can also lose weight quicker if you give up soda entirely. I always drink diet, but hopefully weight loss and sleep will make up for giving it up :confused3 If it doesn't help I can always pick up a soda and enjoy :goodvibes

I didn't lose SQUAT when I gave up soda entirely. Now I drink maybe one diet soda a day, sometimes none.

Hi guys! I feel like I am out of it physically and mentally lately. I also got the "Worst Dad of the Year" award yesterday.:sad2:

This sinus thing is just not going away.:scared: Even with the round of antibiotics I got, it is still in full force. My whole face hurts. Any tooth that I have had any work on in my life is zinging with pain. I am having a hard time concentrating on anything!
This heat and humidity aren't helping either! Work has been miserable with temperatures reaching close to 140 degrees in the plant. The vents that used to bring in fresh air were closed a couple of months ago because they found a few mold spores near them. So it has been really crappy lately.

Since Monday was a holiday and no school, I got very little sleep. Leighanna is used to her new schedule and promptly woke me up at nine. I had about 2 hours sleep in a 48 hour time period. Yesterday after dropping Leighanna off at school I promptly fell asleep and forgot to set the alarm. Of course I didn't have the phone nearby and I overslept, leaving Leighanna at school all by herself.
The school did get in touch with my wife who desperately tried to wake me via the phone. But I just slept through it. She ended up posting a sign on her door at work and ran home to wake me up. I quickly got dressed and ran to the school. I was only about a half hour late, but I still felt like such a failure.
We still beat the bus home though.
Leighanna wasn't upset, but I sure was!
I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth, but I sure do feel like it!

To add to my headache...Hunter came home with books that need to be covered. Of course we don't have enough large fabric covers so he now has one covered with a DisneyStore plastic bag:rotfl:

Nick apparently needs photos for a collage and he needs them TODAY. He knew about it yesterday, when I didn't have to work, but he forgot to mention it. I think I printed enough, he may not like some of them, but really it's his fault since I'm on a tight time constraint and I can't possibly sort through all the files of photos ;)

Now I need to get ready for work

Tom - Don't beat yourself up. DH has fallen asleep and been late to get DS. One day I was at the mall with Brother when the school called to say there were no afternoon enrichment classes. Sister was there with her teacher, waiting for someone to come get her. Well, that would have been useful info BEFORE pick-up time! The school was very understanding, but Sister rode my butt about it for weeks!
I hope you feel better soon!

Deb - Have a good night at work! :wizard:

I haven't had a chance to catch up, but I need to respond to this. Tom, you are not the worst father of the year! Leighanna will survive, and no one at the school will even remember this. When I was pregnant with Miles, Laura was in kindergarten, and Matthew was in 2nd grade. That pregnancy left me exhausted almost all the time. One afternoon, I fell asleep without planning to, so I had no alarm set. I completely slept through dismissal (which I can usually hear from my house) and the school calling me to find out where I was. I was probably only about 20 minutes late, but it seemed like forever. I woke up, and ran as fast as I could up to the school. I am sure that I looked like a crazy woman by that time. Thank goodness the principal and secretary at the time were wonderful, understanding, caring people. About 2 weeks after that, I fell asleep before I was supposed to be up to a party in Matthew's classroom. I took my sweatshirt off before I fell asleep, and when I woke up in time to run up to the school, I threw the shirt back on quickly. I realized about half-way through the party that the sweatshirt was on inside out. I was worried for months that the school was going to have CPS investigate me. The kids are happy, healthy, and wise, and no harm was done to either of them. Matthew and Laura will still occasionally tease me about it, but I can laugh at it now. :rotfl:

Here are our first day of school pictures. Matthew and Laura were a little grumpy about the whole idea of having to have their pictures taken, but I was able to get a couple of Miles.

Matthew and Laura are still at school, because they had cross country practice after school. Miles is home and has a friend here. He said that he had a good day, but he didn't really have much to say (other than "Can Alex come over now?" )

Laura did call me right after she left, because she forgot her schedule! She knew the order but not the room numbers, so I just had to read them off to her. She also wanted to know if I knew her locker combination from last year, because they usually keep the same locker/combination thoughout grades 9-11. I didn't have it, but they probably gave it to them in home room. They don't have home room until after first period, though, so she wanted to get into the locker earlier. They completely ripped out the senior lockers and haven't reinstalled them yet, so Matthew won't have a locker for the first 2 months of school! I hope that they get them done earlier. He did talk Laura into letting him put a few things in her locker, but the lockers are tiny, so I don't think he'll be able to put too much in there.

Beth - Nice pics! :thumbsup2 I hope everybody had a good first day back!

DS said they watched a marketing video for the DC trip today. Grrr. I was just doing a little research. A hotel room (a WHOLE hotel room, not a quarter of one) is about $145 on Travelocity. The Smithsonian and the National Zoo are FREE! A day tour of the city with some of the places the school trip covers is under $70. Airfare is $400. HOW does this add up to $1500?!? It's not like they are doing 5 star dining, and even if they were, DS wouldn't eat the food! I think I will have to tell the teacher it is WAY less expensive to patch together my OWN trip to DC. DS said the parents will have to watch the marketing video when we go to "meet the teacher" night. Great. So instead of hearing about the curriculum I get to see a commercial for a trip my child is NOT going on!

I am sorry, I have read along but I've just been brain dead and busy so it's going all in one eye and out the other.

Kristine-I am sorry that your kiddo was sick and that the laptop died a not so pretty death.

Becky-Welcome Home...you were missed!!

Jen-Hope today went marvelously!!

Jennifer-were the twins keeping you up last night?? Are their stomach issues not getting better??

Deb-I am sorry about the headache...have you tried the Celestial Seasonings night tea?? it worked wonders for me..until I learned I was pregnant with Abi (not for the pregnant). I go through periods of time that I can not sleep at night...people tell me not to take naps during the day so I could sleep at night. My response was...I can't sleep at night even without a nap so would you rather deal with me on 2 hours sleep or none??:scared1:

Robyn-school politics suck...and it only seems to get worse. There are times in dealing with the other parents that I feel like I'm back in HS...stuck on the sidelines trying not to be.

Elizabeth-how was Princess on the potty today?? Seems that her parents might not be ready to help on the weekends with potty training. $1500 for a three night trip made me go:scared1: . I don't normally like those school trips(espescially such a short one) but I do want Cassidy to go on one...I really hope they do go to Japan because she didn't go to Austria, we made her choose.

Tom- the stories I could tell about Jim and not getting the father of the year award (they involve Cassidy going to school in a top and tights and that's all:eek: ) I am sorry you are still feeling cruddy.

Elin-I am sorry yesterday was a heck uva day. :flower3:

Anne Marie- :cheer2: :cheer2: on North Carolina.

the first day of school pics were so great Tammi....you have such a handsome young man and pretty girl. I want Nicholas's teacher too...I need chocolate!!:rotfl:

Stephanie-I was so glad to see your post about how well your dad was doing. I read it thinking well now I know spunkiness is inherited!!

I am sorry if I forgot anybody!!

Theresa - She has been fine today. I put her in a Pull Up for nap because if she is going to pee on herself then I don't want to deal with changing her entire bed. Of course her Pull Up was dry. Problem solved. ;)
I do think my bosses are encouraging the potty, but I don't think they are quite as insistent as I am. If she tells me she doesn't need to go I will give her a little more time, then I MAKE her go sit on the potty. She can't be trusted to alert us that she needs to go before it is too late. (Sometimes she can, but not always.)

Somebody is making a WHOPPING profit on those trips to DC. Momboss and I were kind of wondering if maybe they inflate the price so they can offer "scholarships" to the kids who can't afford to go. Our school is overwhelmingly attended by kids who could never afford $1500 for a trip.

My surgeon had a theory about the whole soda/weight loss thing. There is no evidence to corroborate his theory, but it's interesting. We are told to not drink carbonated beverages after gastric bypass, because the bubbles have the potential for stretching out the new opening to our stomachs, causing more food to be able to enter. His theory is that carbonation does the same thing to a regular stomach; bubbles stretch the stomach increasing it's capacity. It makes a bit of sense to me! I always open my diet coke first thing in the morning, and by lunch it's flat and I can drink it.

I have my x-ray on Friday and go to the doctor's on Tuesday. I sure hope my foot is healed and I do not need surgery.

So we rebooked while on the Magic for December 26, 2009 however I doubt we will sail on that cruise. I would love to sail at Christmas time. But for the same stateroom on the 7 day is about the same cost as the 15 day Panama canal cruise. This date will most likely remain a dummy date and we will probably push it to 2010.

I am not planning my 2009 vacation until October 7, 2008 as this is the day 2010 DCL cruise information will be released for special cruises. I need to know where DCL plans to go then so I know what to plan for next year. As depending where they go I will want to be on in 2010. I already know I want to go on the inaugural cruise for the new ship(s) in 2011 and/or 2012. Can you say addicted or what. I was definitely not this Magic homesick last year.

I really enjoyed Disneyland and California Adventure. I only ended up doing 3 things at DCA as we went to meet our parents and then returned to DL.

My Grandpa was in the hospital while I was on the trip, but is back home and feeling better.

Thanks for the reminder about Kingdom Keepers 2 I knew it was coming out during my trip. I requested it at the library.

So, I think my sister and I have figured out what we and our two brothers will be giving my parents for Christmas. Dad is springing for our Disneyland trip again this coming June. 5 day hoppers for everyone, hotel rooms, and a character lunch at Ariel's Grotto. We always have a great time, and this year won't be any different. We decided to surprise them with a breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen on the day we leave. This way, they get to see their grandkids with more characters, and we can start our trip home with a fun memory instead of the dreaded Disney withdrawal. What do y'all think? It would be a HUGE group. I think there are going to be about 30 of us going. Each family will pick up the tab for their own people, and we'll split the cost of mom and dad, plus the photo package.

What do you think?

This way, they get to see their grandkids with more characters, and we can start our trip home with a fun memory instead of the dreaded Disney withdrawal. What do y'all think? It would be a HUGE group. I think there are going to be about 30 of us going. Each family will pick up the tab for their own people, and we'll split the cost of mom and dad, plus the photo package.

What do you think?

I like it!!

It's been a heck of a day here. While the girls were at school, Daniel & I ran errands & went to lunch. I get a call from Katie's school that she is not feeling well 10 minutes before I have to go get Sophie. I was like a woman posessed getting to K's school & then over to S's school. She said she had to throw up but it is just nerves..I think the whole day was overwhelming to her. More supply lists came home on top of the supplies we already spent $70 yesterday so we ran & got those & labeled everything.

Finally everyone is showered & headed up to bed when Daniel runs to me with a nose bleed...he has never had one before so I am concerned...he's watching Spongebob & I am watching him.

I knew I did not want to come home from Disney.:sad1:

Thanks for the good wishes on NC. Dana got in touch with the head of gifted & talented in NC (Raleigh) so she seems to be a good source of info. Things are chugging along..looks like we will be moving over Christmas break which is good because the kids have 2 weeks off then. I will keep you alll posted if & when we make the "final" decision. Thanks!

I am going to sit with Daniel..have a good night.

I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth, but I sure do feel like it!Don't beat yourself up over it, Tom. We've all been there one way or another. Get yourself back to the doctor! I hope you start getting better soon. :wizard:

Great. So instead of hearing about the curriculum I get to see a commercial for a trip my child is NOT going on!Why don't you call the school and ask them to use Elizabeth's Travel Planning Service. Explain that you can't understand why their price is so high because of what you just posted. Guarantee them a better rate, and more student involvement, since it will be much cheaper. Then add on 10% fee for yourself. :)

I always open my diet coke first thing in the morning, and by lunch it's flat and I can drink it.So does he think that if you eliminate carbonation that the stretching will reverse itself, or is it once it's stretched it stays that way?

Well, my dad loves to see all his "little princesses" with the big princesses, but we've felt that the boys kind of get left out. Don't get me wrong, they enjoy seeing the ladies, but just kind of feel out of place. Not to mention all the daddies in the group who get uncomfortable. So, we thought Goofy's Kitchen would let Dad do the princess thing for his girls, and we could let the boys have fun with the characters at Goofy's with grandma and grandpa watching on! I know the girls will enjoy it, too, especially Mary and my sister's daughter, Olivia. Have I mentioned her before? She's like Mary, wants to be a boy, and is insisting that her kindergarten teacher call her Oliver! I know those 2 would love to see Pluto, Goofy and Mickey along with all the rest.

I'm getting quite excited about it. I know that one of my brother's will have no problem with this, but I'm not so sure about the other one. He just got married last year, and they don't have any kids, so he may balk at it, but oh well! He can just deal! It will be 3 against 1! So there. If I could find a smilie sticking out it's tongue it would go perfectly here!

I agree with you about nothing really taking care of the Disney withdrawal! However, this would be a fun way to end the trip! We don't even need a hopper for that day, since GK is at the DL hotel. We can hit breakfast, and then shop at DD until we are ready to leave.

The kids books were always covered in paper bags. When we got done, Chuck would write a note somewhere on the cover. The girls enjoyed being able to doodle on them.

I want no part of planning a trip where a bunch of 13 year olds travel without their parents across the country on a plane, and stay 4 to a room in a hotel with no supervision. No, no, no! I am pretty sure I never went on an overnight trip in middle school. I did in high school, and I HATED sharing a room and a bed with other people.

The kids books were always covered in paper bags. When we got done, Chuck would write a note somewhere on the cover. The girls enjoyed being able to doodle on them.

My mom always did my book covers out of paper sacks. That was the best kind. DS uses those weird stretchy kind because I never learned to do the paper covers for myself. :rolleyes1

Anne Marie - I am glad things are coming together for NC! I am sorry Katie wasn't feeling well today! Middle school is rough. :guilty:
I started getting nose bleeds when I was about 9, and I would just get them spontaneously after that. DS gets them, too, but his started younger than 9.
If Daniel's nose bleeds profusely have him lean his head FORWARD, pinch at the very top of the bridge of his nose (like between his eyes), and put an ice pack on the back of his neck to constrict the blood vessels. If he tips his head back the blood will run into his stomach and make him vomit. ;) Noses don't typically bleed very long. If it starts happening a lot or if you have a hard time getting it to stop you might phone his Dr.

Now, you know I need more information on DL and DCA than that! When you get a minute PM me what you did and how you liked it.

I'm getting so excited to go and I still have until June 1!!!

You'll get more then that if you are patient.;) :lmao: I plan on writing a trip report with pictures of the entire trip. But first I am trying to catch up with this thread and I need to load pictures onto Photobucket.

I basically did everything at Disneyland. The only things I did at DCA were Soarin', Toy Story Mania and California Screamin'. I wanted to do Aladdin and Monster's Inc. They are the only things I did not get to do that I really wanted to do at DCA. I would have liked to do everything there as well but did not get the chance.

Ok. I'll be patient and wait for your trip report!!! I guess you'll just have to get back to California and go again (preferably when I can go with you!).

By the way, it's nice to have you back with us!

Crap. Somewhere I have lost the little calendar I carry in my purse. There was a voice mail for my Dr's office saying they were calling "about my appointment". I went to pull out my calendar to see when my appointment is and I don't have the calendar! UGH!! WHERE would I have lost it? Home, work, WDW, somewhere in between? The appt. isn't written on my big calendar so there is no telling when I am supposed to go in, and there is no telling where I lost that booklet. Grrr! :headache:

  Been there done something like it. It was when nephew was in kindergarten. Apparently it was an early release day and I didn't know it. All the other kids were picked up and they had to call me. I was shopping and probably an hour or so late by the time I got there :confused3 They made sure I knew after that :lmao:

My surgeon had a theory about the whole soda/weight loss thing. There is no evidence to corroborate his theory, but it's interesting. We are told to not drink carbonated beverages after gastric bypass, because the bubbles have the potential for stretching out the new opening to our stomachs, causing more food to be able to enter. His theory is that carbonation does the same thing to a regular stomach; bubbles stretch the stomach increasing it's capacity. It makes a bit of sense to me! I always open my diet coke first thing in the morning, and by lunch it's flat and I can drink it.

That makes sense.

That sounds wonderful. I had one of those crystal cubes made at WDW for my parents. It has all 3 boys in it. My mother even commented that she and my dad should have had one made once she saw ours. I still need to purchase a base, but I think they will like it :thumbsup2

Thanks for the encouraging words. I still felt like a lousy parent, and hoped that CS weren't called to check me out. I will try to not do that again!

Jen, I would love to see pics of your class!

Join the regular parents club. We all make little errors

Can someone repost the orange bread recipe? I thought I had saved it!

Let me find it.

I hope they are all better now. Stress will do strange things and it sounds like it hit the kids today. Tomorrow will be a better day

If you count Robyn's and Tom's kids, that's 26! :goodvibes

Don't forget my 3. They loved Jen. Colby could pick her out across a crowd :rotfl2:

That's how I did mine too!

We used to use brown paper bags too, but they don't hold up as well and need to be recovered periodically. I don't have any brown paper bags here so I had to punt and went with the Disney bag. I like the fabric ones as they hold up really well.

I think it's a great idea! Just keep in mind that for large groups Goofy's Kitchen only has certain times available. Namely the first few seatings and the last few seatings at the meal. Maybe only the first few for breakfast. It's been too many years since our playgroup did an annual Goofy's Kitchen day. (We used to have a group garage sale and then do Goofy's Kitchen with the proceeds.) I would definitely call the reservation line now to find out when and how you can book so you're all set when the time comes. Any which way, it's definitely a great way to end the trip!

Last week was very hectic. We had more parents coming in the end of the week with their registration forms in hand. It was the usual--I have to do this again? (well yeah we tell you this every year) actually twice cause the same thing happens for the summer camps. DUH
I think in three days time there were more than 130 forms that we took in. In person and mail
Over 400 in a two and half week span.
By Friday, I was exhausted. I had been sleeping badly, dreaming wierd dreams and waking up with a monsterous headache every day. I was so looking forward to leaving a little early so we could get down to WV at a decent hour. That didn't happen. Poor Stephanie, she was our ticke-tron person all day. That in itself was a hard thing to do. The phone was ringing off the hook. I was mumbling to myself for the last hour we were there. Several times, people were lined up ten deep at both windows. :headache: I wanted to tell her that I was not gonna answer the phone anymore. :lmao:
Five o'clock came and I flew out the door. Didn't really even say goodbye to each person, just bolted out the door. I got home and was packed in about fifteen minutes. Hal and I got on the road and asked our GPS (Rhonda) what way she was wanting us to go. She wanted us to go down past Strasburg and Harrisonburg Va all the way down to Staunton, Va. Well, the end time was 5 hours, so we said lets try it. Little did I know that one part of the road was very poorly marked, very VERY twisty, turny and I was braking more than I was using the gas pedal. It was raining, foggy and I ended up singing very badly to a CD just so I could make it to the end of the line!!!!!! We ended up driving a total of six hours. Unloaded the car and talked with our friends from midnight till 2am.
We had a great time. It was very relaxing being there. Had a chance to make some more floral arrangements using some unique things.

I had had a great time shopping for the dried flowers. It is such fun to see what is available and what I think I can do with the items available.

We found out that the Guinnea hens had a couple of babies. it was so cute to see them flying around and sitting up in the trees.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c302/tinker1bell/hensandbabies.jpg

At one point, Carol and I went out to get a few things and then decided to let Rhonda lead us back down the road to a certain point. It seems that a lot of people end up coming down their lane and we were wondering what the GPS was telling them. We followed Rhonda but as we were getting closer to the lane to get to their home, I kept saying, when do you turn back? When do you question whether the directions should be questioned? I would think that when the road turned to gravel with a few mailboxes on the side of the road and you were looking at three gravel lanes, wouldn't you say to yourself, HUMMMMM maybe I should turn back????? Well, we figured that because some places have not been updated with 911 information, some of the directions were to be questioned. In fact, when Hal and I were coming home we ignored Rhonda a few times because we knew she was trying to take us down a few back roads that really would not cut any time off. It was funny to hear her recalculate and then the end time would lower too.

We got home in 5 hours.

It was a very relaxing weekend but not long enough. I went to bed at about midnight each night and woke up at 9am feeling refreshed.

Then the craziness started all over again on Tuesday  :headache: :scared:

I really hate winter, but I cannot wait until our trip to go cruising and enjoying the land with lots of WDW lovers.

As far as this year goes with the election, I am not sure who I like. I did watch Sarah talk tonight because I wanted to see how she comes across. Wanted to hear her views.

Apparently, my daughter has become quite a Obama fan. She called me to say that her hubby is going to introduce Obama tomorrow when he comes here to Lancaster. How that came about, I am not sure. I will be asking her a lot of questions tomorrow. :goodvibes

Deb - I hope you get some sleep tonight

Beth - loved the back to school pictures

Jennifer - I wish the girls were sleeping better

Becky - YAY for the rebooking! I hope you find the perfect sailing date!

Anne Marie - I am glad the move seems to be falling together well. I hope Katie is feeling better!

Glynis - I love the idea of a Goofy's Kitchen breakfast as a gift for your parents!

Tom - you are the greatest Dad in the world to Leighanna. You certainly cannot ask for much more than that! I hope you get to feeling better. I am sure that didn't help your feeling badly today.

Elizabeth - I could take an all inclusive 2 week trip to Italy next July with the group I sing with for $3500 +/- so I think their price is a bit stiff for the trip out our way!

Jen - I am so glad you survived your first day and are eager to return!

Tom -- don't feel bad. I'm sure most everyone here has been late a time or two to pick up their kids. I have been, and I'm sure I will be again -- things just happen. Don't beat yourself up -- Leighanna is truly lucky to have such great parents!

Great pics!

Oh, my! Princess is reading a book to her doll. Something she is telling the doll sounds suspiciously like the word for a certain part of the male anatomy. :scared1: I asked her what is in her book but she hasn't said that word again, so I am not sure what she was seeing and/or saying. :rotfl2:

I had had a great time shopping for the dried flowers. It is such fun to see what is available and what I think I can do with the items available.

We found out that the Guinnea hens had a couple of babies. it was so cute to see them flying around and sitting up in the trees.

Very cool pics! Thanks for sharing.

I watched most of it. I tried to look at her very objectively since I am true Independent, in the most broad sense of the term. She surprised me. Without getting into any political talk I would say that McCain did his homework on this one. She is a very charismatic speaker who presents her side of the story extremely well.

She presented herself extremely well and projected a lot of confidence. I was very interested to hear about all of her experience -- there was a lot more substance in her speech then I thought there would be.
It does sound like fun! I like the pics of the flowers!

I am not feeling well this morning, and I didn't sleep well. Not sure what we'll do today. We don't have anything planned.

Elizabeth -- I hope you get to feeling better and get your doctor's appt. sorted out. Let's pin Lindsay down when she gets back in to town and have lunch. It's been too long.

I've had problems with tires lately and been to two national chains. I don't think I got even decent customer service at either one. Last night, I was told I would be out in 45 min. to an hour, and two and a half hours later I was driving out of the parking lot, with a commute home still to do. UUUGGGHHH!

A soccer scrimmage for Andrew tonight and soccer practice for Jake. Have a great day everyone! :)

Tom - You are anything but worst father of the year! Please don't worry about it. :grouphug:

Anne Marie - Hope Katie has a better day to day and that Daniel's nose bleed was a fluke. Sounds like Dad got in touch with just the right person to help you make the best choices for Daniel, so that is great news.

Beth - Great back to school pics!

Jen - Can you PM me the pics of your room? I'd love to see it.

Glynis - Leslie and the other girly girls will probably even get a princess thrown in as well. I don't think we've ever been to GK where we didn't see Cinderella or Mulan.

Deb - I hope that the thoughtfulness (:cloud9: ) of your men led to a good night's sleep.

Terry - Sounds like a really nice weekend!

Tammi - I didn't make it to Palin even being an hour earlier than you. I've taken to watching most of the stuff on YouTube. Phil started doing it several Bush speeches ago and it's so much easier. Plus, with the convention you can skip the inbetween stuff and see what it is you want to see.

Elizabeth - I hope you're feeling better soon.

Marci - I hope that's the end of your tire woes at least. That's a long time to wait plus the commute. yuck.

Becky - Congrats on the rebooking. I hope there are some great itineraries announced for 2010 that make your choices easy.

Not much on tap for today. I think I may load the kids up and head to my sisters so the kids can play with the 2 little girls she is watching.

I might also try and pick up Emma's paint for her room. We finally decided on what shade of blue so now I just want to get started which I'll do tomorrow night. I am anxious to get it done and hopefully it shouldn't take much more than Friday night and Sunday. We have a birthday party on Saturday and plan to hang out afterwards for dinner and cards with the same 2 couples from last week. The bonus is that we are going to the couple's house that is right around the corner from here and not an hour away.

Good morning, Elin. :)

We are off to work MOPS today. After that I've got to make a fun to the Girl Scout Express van to buy some stuff for mom. Then, I pick up Connor at home, Kassie from school and we are off to Disney on Ice! The kids are so excited. And, well, I am too. :goodvibes:

Yesterday, I got Terra's activity book put together and up to Kinkos to bind. She was sooo thrilled by it that I think I got 10 thank yous before we could get out the door of Kinkos. Sometimes it's the simple things, eh. I also got our tip envelopes printed, made and (most of) the money in them. I'm short a few ones for the last two, but I'll get them in today. Tomorrow I've got to get ready for camping so I don't think I'll get much trip stuff done, but I've got to get moving on the autograph pages next week and my Minnie skirt made. Then I guess it will be time to consider packing, but we don't have anywhere near enough close to pack on Elizabeth timing. ;) I do have lots of extras to get together and those are usually the things I forget so we'll start them soon.

Have a great day everyone!

We used to use brown paper bags too, but they don't hold up as well and need to be recovered periodically. I don't have any brown paper bags here so I had to punt and went with the Disney bag. I like the fabric ones as they hold up really well.

We use brown paper bags here. Last year I bought the stretchy book covers, but all the teachers wanted brown sack covers :confused3

Jen - your room looks awesome! I can't believe you did all that in what, 3 days?! I think you should have your picture in your scuba diver though! ;)

I agree! :)

That's how I did mine too!

Me too, although usually with white paper - more fun to draw on? :confused3 :rotfl:

My headache subsided about 1 1/2 hours into work. Of course it was Sloooooww tonight. Had it been busier I may have worked through the headache more quickly. The good news is that I have completed 2 full days on my diet and I haven't had any soda since 2 PM yesterday :cool1: My goal is to get the eating under control this week and get through all my withdrawl. Next week I need to add exercise.

Way to go! You're off to a great start! :goodvibes

My DH and little one had a surprise for me. Colby is sleeping with Daddy in my spot tonight so that I can have his nice new bed tonight. They are hoping, as am I, that I will get a restful nights sleep with no interruptions

Did it work? :wizard:

I especially loved the scene of him trying to hold it together as he watched her walking toward him.

I know! I loved that one too, and I did have to point it out to my robot of a husband :snooty:

Thanks for the well-wishes on the girls sleeping. They do ok for about 6 hours, it's just before and after that they are in a lot of discomfort. I think we're seeing mild improvement though, whether from their GI system maturing or the formula changes....

Still not feeling great, but a little better, I think! Thanks for asking!:goodvibes

I have to work tonight, and I was hoping that the cold front would come through to cool things off a little.

Leighanna had homework last night regarding a story from her workbook. Well, the teacher didn't send the story home, and Leighanna said that they haven't read it in class yet, So how can you answer questions about it then?
I e-mailed her teacher yesterday, and finally got a response this morning. She said it was from her workbook, and that she forgot to tell the kids to take it home with them.
Needless to say, she will still get full credit for her homework. Phew!
So far Leighanna has gotten all A's and an A+ on spelling. I didn't want the fact that she couldn't do her homework to decrease her grade. Homework counts as 15% of her final grade.

I had another monkey wrench thrown into this thing I call "life".
I would really like to book our airfare for our February trip while the prices are still reasonable.
If the new Ohio Healthy Families act goes into effect, http://www.sickdaysohio.org/ our work has already said that they will be forced to go to 8 hour shifts.
This means instead of being able to leave in the middle of the week and return on a non weekend day, we will have to leave on a weekend and return on a weekend. This makes our flights more expensive.

Arghhhh! I just don't know what to do?!?
