We plan to take our grown children and their children, 9 of us total, to WDW. Would we get a discount for booking a Grand Gathering or is it the same price as booking rooms, MYW w/park hopper and DDP? Any advantage to doing the Grand Gathering?

Hi nota,
Mousesavers has some info: http://www.mousesavers.com/

The quickest way to bring up what you want is to put grand gathering in the search box there, and then later search reunion .

She has some great tips!!

You have to book 10 rooms in order to get a group rate...at least that is what is was in 2005 when we did a large family group. But there is a special contact person and you get discounts on tickets, etc. If you have a group of 25 or more people you can do special dining...by that I mean have a meal catered someplace unique on WDW property.
By booking you reservations as a grand gathering, they connect the room reservations and dining reservations. We have a group of 18 going in 63 days...and our room ressies are linked, but didn't do any dining. We have other plans for that.
If your group members call and make their reservations separately, you don't have to book as a grand gathering. If you call and book them all, even if they are paying separate, they will book it as a grand gathering.

You can book them all separately and not be a grand gathering but if you want the rooms anywhere near each other it has to go through GG

A Grand Gathering consists of 8 or more people in your group. You don't get a discount for rooms or tickets or anything. This just enables Disney to "link" your reservations together for them to block a set of rooms in the same location...not necessarily side by side...just close to one another. Being part of a Grand Gathering also enables you to book special events that others are not able to be a part of...Illuminations Dinner and Dessert Party, Pirate Cruise to view Wishes, a Safari dinner and a meal at Tony's. We did the Illuminations Dinner and Dessert Party which we didn't really care for. I felt the "entertainment" was more than below Disney's standards, the food just so-so, but the desserts and the VIP area to view Illuminations were out of this world.
