I've just been onto the Virgin Atlantic website to check my booking (which is 49 days away) and my chosen seats are no longer on there, instead it says:
"We're sorry. The seat map is not available at this time. Your seats will be assigned at check in."
My chosen return seats are still showing, how long before the quote above applies to them too?

the seats are never guarenteed anyway so they can change them. Its normally a plane change or somehting like that.
Dont worry. We cant even get into our booking to do seats and we fly next week!!

When you go into the amend my booking and your flight details come up there is an arrow next to your name, click on the arrow and it will show you your seat numbers.
When i go to see my seats i am getting the same message as you, It is because the 60% of seats that are released have been taken and you will not be able to see the seating plan until you do online checkin.

Our seats were still there the week we flew but when we checked in they had gone. As luck had it we ended up with exit seats. We didn't protest too much.lol

Hi folks, I'm a Virgin virgin and have booked a flydrive package out of Glasgow for 27Jun'09. Am I able to pre assign our seats just now or is this facility only for flight only passengers? Also if I can pre assign our seats how do I go about this:confused: . Thanks in advance for your help:worship: and sorry if I'm doing a wee bit of hijacking:rolleyes1

I've just been onto the Virgin Atlantic website to check my booking (which is 49 days away) and my chosen seats are no longer on there,
I went to the Virgin website ten days ago to enter up my passport details. The website wouldn't recognise my booking code. After the best part of the afternoon talking alternately to 'Atlantic' and 'Holidays' I find that I am not booked onto my outgoing flight at all!
It turns out that my dates on Virgin Holidays records are correct, but my outward flight on Virgin Atlantic's records is recorded wrongly. Each Virgin blamed the other for the mistake.
It is all sorted now. It is just as well I found out now, rather than when I checked in at Gatwick!!!
Andrew.

If you go here: https://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/manageyourflights/updatebooking/index.jsp
then enter your Virgin holidays booking reference along with the other info you should be able to pre-assign from there. If you booked with someone other than Virgin then you may have to phone them up to get the reference number.

Thanks for the info Lizzybear, I have tried to access my booking on this site but it doesn't bring anything up. I checked that the booking is definately on the Virgin Holidays website so maybe they are now not letting package people pre assign their seats  I might give them a wee phone to find out what I can do to pre assign. Thanks again for taking the time to help:thumbsup2

I just had a thought.. If you booked recently it may be that they haven't released the details to Virgin Atlantic yet, I think they do this on Wednesdays. Either way a phonecall should chivvy them along a bit :)

What are the dates of your holiday? It could be that your return date hasn't been released by Virgin Atlantic yet so you might have to wait a week or so?

Hi there,
According to the Virgin Atlantic website ( http://virginatlantic.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/virginatlantic.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=77&p_created=1197902676&p_sid=ma_1mPbj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfc m93X2NudD0zMjYsMzI2JnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0 mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ub CZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1 ) you have to be within 336 days of your return flight. I don't know if that applies to you or not.

I know when we booked our current holiday (in just under 2weeks), Virgin Holidays gave us two references numbers - a booking reference for use on the Virgin Holidays site and a flight locater number to be used on the Virgin Atlantic site. The normal Virgin Holidays reference does not work on Virgin Atlantic's site. Maybe this is the case with you? A simple call to VH will get you the flight code.

That def sounds like the case. The ref is not like a normal airline booking locator. Thanks for your help I'll give Virgin Holidays a wee phone:thumbsup2
