Families with Five...How many points do you have?

For those of you with five in your family or if you routinely travel with five..........

What would be the perfect number of points that you wished you had for your yearly vacations?? How would you use them??

I'm torn about an add-on before BCV price goes up.:confused: :eek:

We bought being a family of four and planned our points around that. Well, we turned into a family a five with a little surprise visit from a stork. So, we certainly could use more points now that youngest is over 3, but I just get creative with points borrowing/banking/cash to do our trips until we can get more points. I also have a close single friend with more points than she needs just in case I have a need for points, which could come in handy if need be. So far, we are doing okay with what we have with a little creativity.

The reason that we joined is because we're a family of 5. 10 years ago, the only options that we had were the deluxe resorts, and we knew that it would get too costly to continue taking our annual trips.

People want to know the secret of having teenagers/young adults who still want to vacation with us. If they were able to see what a 2 bedroom unit is like, they'd understand. My kids have loved our other "home" from the start.:) :)

We have three children that are 18, 8, and 5. Although we prefer a two bedroom, we have stayed a few nights in a BWV studio which sleeps five. Next year my 18 year old will go to college, so I am not certain if she will want to go with us or not. We have other timeshares and sometimes she goes and other times she does not. Whenever we plan a trip to DVC, she is always ready to go. We own 355 points at three resorts and will probably buy more one day.

We usually go with me, DW, 3 DDs (8,8,5) and our au pair. The six of us do a two BR at BWV or OKW. We have a total of 502 pts and can go twice a year, six nights in February at BWV and 7 or more at OKW in August . If we have pts left over, we can do a getaway trip in a studio, but it is cramped for the 5 of us.

We are a family of six which is also why we decided to go ahead and become DVC members. We started out with 170 pts. Then two years later we added on 200pts at a different resort. Just recently we bought a resale for 150 additional points. So we have our total up to 520 pts. That is probably all we will buy. The pt price keeps going up and paying for dues comes to around $2000/yr now. But you can bet we won't have ANY trouble using those 520 pts up each and every year.

We started out with 150 points while our youngest was under 3. We immediately realized we needed more points and added on 112. Still not enough, so we just added on 100 more. It probably still isn't enough, but it will have to do for awhile.

Oops....should have read the question more carefully. We have 240 points today, so I answered 200-300, but the answer to the question about what I'd like to have would be 'lots more!' We managed a 9 night vacation last year and another this coming June by borrowing points and paying cash on a few nights, but that borrowing strategy will only work for so long. If I could put an end to some of these home repairs, I could start buying more points. Come to think of it, I think I'll hop over to a resale board for my daily visit to dream a little! :p

We started with 210 points and, from 1995 through 1999, that seemed adequate. We added on late in 1999 and now we have 440 points. That allows us to book 12 nights a year in a 2BR at OKW during the summer. Well, almost. Every once in a while we might have to settle for 11 nights.

We are a family of six origanal contract had 175 purchased an resale for 136 so total now is 311. Not enough to do two weeks in a 2 bdr. put we go about every 11 months...

We have 230 and have to leave on the weekends to save for a 2 week stay in a 2 BR. I am looking for an add-on at OKW!!! I would love to have another 100-150 to feel comfortable.

Oops! I voted how many points I had, not how many I wanted. Are you kidding? That's like asking how much money would I like to be making? Alot more than what I am!!! :earseek:

I'm worse than you, Luvmyfam3!! I did the same thing--but AFTER I read your post! DUH!!! Brain lapse!! :) I totally agree with you, though--my "wish" has nothing to do with my ability to "want"! ;)
