Can I share a tale of ADD and woe?

Nevermind, I'm going to anyway.

In November I have a brilliant idea: I'm going to take my Mom, who lives in NYC, to Disneyworld. She had an awfully hard year, was very depressed and where better to cheer up but the land of Magic.

First things first: I have a free flight voucher through Jetblue which is perfect because their flights ran once daily from PDX to JFK, there I planned to meet up with Mom and fly with her into MCO. I had to wait until March for the fares to come out and then pounced because I knew award flights go fast. All done! I synced my flights with hers, got our seats together and then continued on with my other ressies.

But Alas!

Come July I get a call early am from Jetblue saying my return flight has been cancelled:scared1: :scared1: What to do? I reschedule a new flight the following day, changing my Mom's flight too, resync our seats and add a day at Disney. Jetblue assures me my outgoing flight is safe. (Famous last words)

Yesterday I decide to check when Jetblue is flying PDX to JFK just in case my outgoing flight is delayed or cancelled at the last minute. Since they no longer fly out once a day, if my flight was cancelled it would be conceivable I could miss two days at Disney.
Well...lo and behold...my flight is gone, just gone. No one had called me and so now in a panic I call Jetblue. She looks at my confirmation # and says I see a return flight but no outgoing flight. NO kidding, That's what I saw too. What happened to my outgoing flight? There isn't one she says. Yes, I know that..what happened to it????? I tell her I see the flight was cancelled..what about a new flight? After 45 minutes on the phone she says she can't help me because it was an award flight I have to talk to the Trublue dept and they're not open. I asked for a supervisor and do you know I had to ask five or six times before she let me speak to one...who told me the same thing. UGH
Now I can't sleep. It's very late and I'm checking flights, trying to think of a way to somehow make it ok. I don't trust another Jetblue flight, I'd have to add (or subtract) days from my vacation, my Mom is now flying alone...It was a horror.

It get's worse.
I phone Jetblue early this morning and the Trueblue dept tells me they can cancel my outgoing flight (which was already done duh!) but they could not give me a one way voucher because my Trueblue pass expired!!!:scared1: They could book a new reward flight..that I can change at a later date to a different flight. So this morning frustrated to tears I had to randomly pick a flight in the future that I have no intention of using.

I understand flights get canceled, but to not issue me a new voucher was the height of insult. I am just disgusted.

End result: I booked an outgoing flight on Delta, booked my self an extra day and will have to go to the airport to meet Mom and take her back to our resort....

I keep trying too see the bright side...all I can see is $$$$ and time wasted.

If this fairy was meant to fly I'd have wings growing out my back.
You know like the little pink ones you have.
Reason #1- I don't like hitting the ground at 500MPH

I'm pretty sure the plane usually explodes before that happens and you disintegrate ;)

My history with Jetblow.

Nice flight out to Long Beach. I thought this is a really nice airline i will try to use them more often. I opened a mileage account with them and added it to my reservation. Airline rep said "yep the numbers in here you're all set to get the points."

Couple weeks later i get a statement. No points. I go on their website and add it for missing mileage credit. They emailed me said all set its been credited.

Next month another statement, no points. I try again and they send me reply that they are sorry its DEFINITELY been credited this time....

Next statement, no points. At this point i thought these guys are total losers if they cant even add the stupid points to me account. Slow day at work and i was bored so i requested 57 times that they credit my account. I got 57 replies they have credited my account. 5 months later and my balance is still 0.

I plan on using them to Vegas next month. Only because they are the cheapest, and no i will not even bother asking for the points. Life is too short!

I have friends who were flying to CA last week on Jetblue. The flight was cancelled and no one ever told them. They had 4 people on the same flight. My friend just happened to look on Thursday night and found out. When she call JB they told her, well if you had called when it was cancelled, we could have helped you, but we can't do anything for you now. No sorry, nothing. Of course if JB had notified them when they cancelled the flight, that would have been helpful. JB finally found a flight that they might be able to get them in on Saturday, but because they had so many other people already rebooked, they didn't think they could get them on.

My friend ended up paying for new tix on SWA.

I have never heard anything good enough about JB to use them, besides, they don't fly from where I used to live or where I live now, so it isn't an issue.

Rosie, I hope you have a great time anyway.

Thanks..I am finally beginning to lose the bile that's been in my stomach all day. I'm trying to tell myself, that in the end I'll have an extra day at Disney and I can rest until Mom gets there the next day. I just hate that she has to fly alone.

Rosie, I think "No good deed goes unpunished" applies, too.

Seriously, how wonderful that you can take your mom to the most magical place in the world. I have taken mine a few times, but she no longer travels. She loves to hear about all my trips, I think she remembers a lot of WDW, but at over 90, she is getting a bit forgetful.

You are a good daughter.

Oh Rosie --

That is TOO bad -- I've had similar problems with Continental on my (now canceled) trip in December. The airlines are having a terrible time right now w/o a doubt by the "cancel this/reschedule that" dosie-do finally got to me too.

TuckandStuiesMom-
I'm sorry you had to cancell your trip. I understand how bad the industry is right now, it's the "sorry..too bad" attitude that drives me insane.

Mickeyfan1-
Thank you, It is the first time anyone has treated my Mom to a vacation. I have heard her say words of appreciation that I've never heard come out of her mouth before in my entire life. I am extremely grateful that I can do it, even more so that James is as giving as he is because really it's his salary that pays for these trips.

There are a few reasons I don't care for JetBlue...

1) Lack of carrier agreements to rebook on other airlines for cancellations and delays.
2) Holier than thou attitude towards other airlines and that they can do no wrong.
3) Horrible travel times for business travelers although they do serve some major business hubs.

I fly JetBlue regularly - have not had any of these troubles. One time they cancelled a flight after I was already at the airport. Caused me a little angst, but they put me on the next flight immediatlly. (I get to the airport really early - since EWR is a PITA to get through security!) Since I get out of work at 7am I usually take the 11am flight - that day I had made arrangements to take the 8am flight - it was canceled. I was a couple of hours later to WDW.

Last June hunny and I were at WDW when we found out the weather into EWR was horrible. We watched the flights, and were ready when the call came that our flight was canceled and we would be rebooked the following day. Problem was that I was supposed to be at work at 3pm the next day. Didn't happen - I was 5 hours late! Luckily my bosses are understanding about the fact the flight was canceled.

They have moved my rewards around, and also have extended them for me many times. I think it is kinda like WDW - depends on who you talk to!

Rsoie - enjoy the trip - things happen in 3's - so you have all 3 done - right?
