We are negotiating points for a 2 BR villa at Boardwalk. Only preferred views are available for our time. Which bldg/room should we request to be near path to Epcot? And just what is a preferred view. We'll have our 3 young children and my mom who is diabetic and has trouble with stairs. Any info would be sooo appreciated.

The villas are all located on the side of BW farthest from Epcot - farthest meaning - 5 min walk there abouts. There are elevators so you shouldn't have to use any stairs unless you choose to. Preferred view means you will either have a view of crescent lake or the pool/garden areas.

I don't know if you can exit from the sides of BW or not - we always go back to the main lobby and exit out.

Best view is boardwalk view, about 15% of the rooms total. That gives you a view of the lake across to YC/BC and of Epcot. However, 2BR's there are a trek to the elevator. All other preferreds face towards Swan/Dolphin or MGM. If you want close to elevator ask for a room close to the elevator -- you will overlook Luna Park, where the main pool is, and Luna Park is one of the preferred views. Other preferred views are those overlooking the quiet pool or the lagoon leading to MGM but those will be a trek to the elevator.

Path to Epcot is down the boardwalk and past the BWI rooms. To get to the boardwalk from any room other than ground floor you would take an elevator to the boardwalk level.

You don't need to take the elevator to exit BW. A few years ago we stayed there. Our room was pretty far from the elevator bank. But there was a set of stairs right across the hall from our room. We were on the third floor. We found it much quicker to use the stairs to get out. If we weren't too tired we came back in that way also. But this entailed folding up the stroller and carrying the 8-mo. old! But there are other ways out, so have a look around.

Instead of asking for specific room numbers, fax your concerns down in the form of a room request 4 days before. When you have good (and medical) needs, they try to accomodate you. But if you ask for a certain room and it is not available, they have no idea why you requested that particular room. Better to leave the assignment to the professionals and just make them aware of your concerns/needs.

We have gotten great preferred view villas with a boardwalk view that were located over the boardwalk stores and close to the elevators. If you let them know you have a medical reason for needing a room close to the elevators they will accomendate you.

DeeP, did you get a 2BR in that area over the store or courtyard? My understanding is that the 2BR's overlooking the boardwalk are all over the Big River Grill and the DVC office, all of which leave you with some walk to the elevator.

drusba,
We have gotten 1BRs in this location, but I am almost positive they had the locked door to connect to the studio next door which would have made them into a 2 BR.
I did not think BWV had any dedicated 1 BR only units, but I could certainly be wrong.
