Well it is now official. I just sent our deposit to DU and received our cabin assignment. When I told Jay and Sam, they asked what "floor" we're on then argued as to who should get the top bunk! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
We are now officially on the ship!

Just sit back and enjoy... OK, you might want to get on the ship first! :cloud9:
I'd like to take another cruise sooner than next October too. (I have to be careful what I say on here. Tinkerbell.RN is bound to be listening. :rolleyes1 )
Unfortunately, I just don't see it happening. We have WDW at the end of November at OKW and again July 2009 at BCV for a week. Finally the BOB Cruise in October. It's already a pretty full schedule.
Oh well, I'm off to work a rare graveyard shift at the airport. Sleep well everyone. (I'll be up all night). :headache: :headache:

We knew we were going to make reservation eventually, but DU has a good deal going now so we were able to book earlier than expected. I checked my calendar for work earlier this month just to make sure the dates looked okay. We were initially going to do the 10/10, but the 10/24 works better for my schedule and my family's schedule.
I am pleased with our cabin location as well.

Karen - I venture out to the Dining and Cruise main boards. I occasionally hop on a TR or two, as well (cruise or regular WDW ones).
I've been loving TGM and Tagrel a lot lately. So other than those, another board I love called The Lodge and this thread, that's about it! :)
Have a safe trip Andy!!!
Off to play cards with the hubby! :)

Was there anything you really liked or really disliked about the "pilot?" I liked the opening when the girl was on the phone and Kitt called her as he raced to the scene. That was kind of corny, but I enjoyed that sequence.
I thought the line from the "Hoff" was kind of corny. When asked by his son "will I see you around," his response was "I certainly hope so." That statement was kind of a double meaning, hoping father and son would reconnect, and hoping NBC would sign on for a specific number of episodes!
I thought the morphing cool. Great way to "hide" from the bad guys!
The end was a bit far-fetched though...driving out of the back of an airplane! But I guess if you can believe in KITT and morphing cars, you can believe in that!

Good morning everyone....
Once again I am unable to sleep....it's about 3:10AM here in WI. Pete's coming home today - yeay! Thomas has his last day of daycare today - yeay!
We got to go to Thomas's school last night and meet his teacher. She seems very nice. His class is a bit larger than I thought it would be - 20 students total. One of his friends from daycare will be in his class at school, so that will be good. I think it will make the transition easier to see a familiar face there.
Hope everyone has a good day!
Jen Mouse
You're lucky with the friend thing. When Megan was starting Kindergarten, not one person in her daycare or our neighborhood that she knew was in her class! She made it through anyway... and now she's venturing into 5th grade! Matthew took them up for the Open House to meet their teachers today. Sarah was excited because her best friend from last year is sitting with her. Megan will be in a trailer this year. SO many students in the area!

 Well, the wicked witch of the West (my mother) is up to her usual stunts again.
She's bought him 2 nintendo ds games for his birthday without bothering to ask me and yes... one I've already bought him and the other is a rating age 12:mad:
She then makes it look like I'm the one in the wrong:furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:
She's now in a major sulk now cuz I told her to take them back.
Every year we have exactly the same problem every birthday and every christmas - she refuses to check with me what I (or anybody else ) has already bought for Ellis and just buys whatever she feels like, then moans when she's wasted her money. I tell her all the time to check with me first but she never does.
Geez! - she infuriates me beyond belief. :furious: :furious:
Shell be sulking til christmas now and then we'll go thorugh it all again:rolleyes:
She even thrust my birthday cards at me as we were leaving today saying "here you are - take them now - it will save me a stamp".
I've told Neil that if I ever turn out like her then he can shoot me!
Sorry - rant over!.... I'm now doing deep breathing and looking on ebay for a voodoo doll that resembles my mother:rolleyes1

Does anyone else click on the email links and get straight to the cruise part?
Do the rest of you all venture onto the big wide world of the Dis and if so what am I missing! - I dont think I'd have enough hours in the day to keep up with anything more than the cruise forum and even then I usually bypass the main bit and just find our thread.
I've toured around a little... when I get caught up here! But, mostly it's been the DCL forum. (How do you think I caught up to Matthew so quick on posts? I chat here a lot, but I've sent a comment or 2 to other threads!):goodvibes

:confused3
When I called them today for more infomation that's all they would tell me. I wanted to suggest that the "challenges" could be turned into an hour or two of compelling television hosted by your two favorites DINKS, but those folks really don't have much of a sense of humor. ;)
It's not a huge deal in the overall scheme of things but it's still disappointing, especially after all the program cuts they've made compared with last year. We'll just have to find a way to create our own program ... and let me tell you, the idea we have ... if it works, epcot will never be the same! :rotfl2:

_______________
Tony and I had a great time at the Packer game last night. Jesse couldn't make it though. Too bad the Packers couldn't pull out a win though. Rodgers looked good at least.
As usual, there are always the little incidents MG gets herself into, like the woman in front of me that I had to "shush" because she decided to talk through the National Anthem and the woman next to me who insisted on sitting on the seat that my bum already occupied. Other than that, we had a good time and I loved my mother/son day. We giggled like little school girls all day long. LOVED it!!!:cloud9:
We got home late and rode in on fumes. According to the gauge in Tony's jeep, we had 2 gallons of gas left in our driveway! :scared1: I hope he stopped for gas on his way home.:cutie:
I am glad you had a good time at the game. We watched alittle of it on tv. My daughter loves to run on fumes. Yes great job Andy for your weight loss. You are doing fantastic. Diane:yay:

We spent the day riding from Milwaukee to Green Bay to Sturgeon Bay. Saw many harley dealers with parties going on. I think Sturgeon Bay is what the city was called. My grandson wants a Packers shirt so maybe I can find him one. He is a football nut. He loves all the teams. football, baseball, basketball. Tomorrow is the parade. We need to get up early. It is 4 miles long but it takes 4 hours. How am I going to hold the flag that long. Oh well, I will do it for Walt. He is having so much fun up here. He is just like a little kid at Christmas. Me too. You would not believe how many people and Harleys are here. I have never seen so many bikes in my life. Well I am closing for now. I am pooped. Walt is probably already sleeping. Talk to you all later. As my grandkids say "Peace Out" Diane :hippie:

Walt and I spend the day biking from Milwaukee to Green Bay to Sturgeon Bay. It was a nice trip. Now I know where Door County is that Jen talked about last summer. We ate supper in the hotel tonight then went for a walk. We walked by the Harley party but did not stop. We are pooped. Have to get up early tomorrow morning for parade. It is 4 miles long but it will take 4 hours someone told me. How am I going to hold the flag that long. I guess I will do it for Walt. He is having so much fun up here. It is like Christmas for him. I am having a great time too. He is probably sleeping as I am dising so I better go up and get some rest. We have a long day tomorrow with parade in the AM and parties all afternoon into the evening. Bruce Springstein will be there tomorrow night. Well I will close for now. As my grandkids say "Peace Out" :hippie:

There's nothing like high school football on Friday night. Quantico High Warriors won their first game in 2 years tonight! We had a blast, although my boys are not old enough to play yet (Derek will never play, I'm sure. He's a soccer boy.) Just going to events like this at the school is important to me. It fosters a sense of community for my kids, almost like "putting down roots." Joanne did you feel this way when your DH was still active duty?
Anyway, after the game, a bunch of us "girls" hopped in the car and went to see Mama Mia at the movies. I liked it, but I preferred seeing it live. We all wanted to sing along, but didn't want to offend anyone.....:rotfl:

As of Friday, August 29, 2008
The safety of our guests and crew is always our first priority at Disney Cruise Line and we continually monitor a storm's progress through the National Weather Service.
At this time, we do not anticipate any changes in the August 31st voyage of the Disney Wonder or the September 1st voyage of the Disney Magic.
Should weather conditions change, our Captain can alter the ship's course or itinerary for the safety and well being of our guests.

We are not in any danger here in Virginia. My folks live on the southern coast (the Gulf coast) of the United States in Louisiana. They'll be fine, because if they are ordered to evacuated, they will leave. And if their houses are flooded, they all have insurance, so it'll be a headache, but they'll be fine.

Good morning everyone...
It's 5:40 am, so I slept in a little better.....too bad I was up until past midnight!
My mom fell while riding her bike with a friend yesterday and fractured her foot in 2 places. She had to have surgery on it last night, and she is fine, but now I'm trying to figure out how things are going to work out when she comes home. Her condo is an upstairs unit, so she'll probably need to come stay with me for a while first (we have a ranch house). I'm sure there will be doctor's appointments and such she'll need to go to, and I work full time. I could use some pixie dust - here's hoping my boss will be understanding through all of this!
On the plus side, Pete came home yesterday! He got home early and we picked Thomas up from daycare together. Thomas was pretty happy to see his daddy!

Yeay!!!!! Congrats on the official booking!

Yes, that picture was taken from a boat. The street had never flooded before. My grandmother had a moblie home in my parents' backyard which was high enough to stay dry. One more inch and she would have been flooded, too. They stayed with her, which was a blessing of multitudes because she was suffering with pancreatic cancer, so my mom was able to take care of her in her last days. They continued to live in her trailer after she passed away until the house was ready--I think about 5 months. They gave the trailer away as soon as they were in their house.
People often ask, "Why don't they just move?" That is easier said than done. Our town had never flooded before, at least not in my parents' neighborhood. It is hard to give up your home. And I guess as long as they have flood insurance, it's all good.
And yes, base housing here is nice. Nothing like the previous 3 times that we lived here. It is a nice "last house" for us before retirement....less than 3 years now.

Thanks! I like them too! :thumbsup2 I remember being a nervous HS freshman. I started in a new school in a new state. The first day of school after school was over, I didn't know what bus was mine. None of them were labled and no kids from my neighborhood went to Public HS, so I had no clue what bus to get on and missed the bus. I hope she has better luck!
Thanks for the good luck wishes for Rach. Yesterday she and a friend went to the high school and "walked their schedules" again and I think she is feeling better. Last night she said now she's only nervous about Tues., the first day. She is still saying she won't ride the bus though. I will be able to drop her off at school in the morning but on the days I work she will have to sit at school for 2 or more hours waiting for Al or I to pick her up after work, she says she'd rather do that then take the bus :confused3 I remember when she couldn't wait to be able to ride a school bus and now she says she hates riding it :rolleyes1

I spend most of my DIS time here and at the DVC boards, but I also check out the Theme Park board, the Restaurant board, the Budget board and now because we're going to Universal for a few days in Dec.
Sorry to hear that Jen

Karen - I venture out to the Dining and Cruise main boards. I occasionally hop on a TR or two, as well (cruise or regular WDW ones).
I've been loving TGM and Tagrel a lot lately. So other than those, another board I love called The Lodge and this thread, that's about it! :)
Have a safe trip Andy!!!
Off to play cards with the hubby! :)
Mel, I "purchased" TGM for our Dec. trip seeing how we will be at WDW when it will be very, very crowded! Do you just look at all the TGM info or do you read the boards there too? I haven't really checked out the boards there at all, just the pages and page of planning info, am I missing something?

Glad she is OK :goodvibes
Diane and Walt I have the Harley parade on TV in the background as I catch up here. I keep looking up when they mention they are showing some of teh HOG chapters ride by in hopes that I will catch a glimpse of you. Diane I hope the flag holding is going OK! They keep showing a bike that has a lot of flags attached to it, 5 or 6 large American flags along with another large flag and a bunch of little American flags :thumbsup2
You drove up to a beautiful area of our state yesterday! If you are still looking for a Packer shirt for your grandson they usually have them at the Kohls dept. stores in the area and I have seen them at some of the local Targets and Wal-Marts too.

Nancy, the other side is the same, not sure if exactly but there is "stuff" in front of the portholes. We've been in SPH rooms on both sides of the Magic and we were always happy with them, it was nice to have a "free" porthole and be able to see what the weather was like outside. Like Chris, we had had maintenance working right outside more than once. 5520 & 5020 have the least amount of stuff in front of the porthole, 5524 & 5024 have the most.

Doesn't Southwest have a new boarding procedure where they offer a "business class" fare that includes priority boarding? That being the case, you might have done just fine! You will have to let us know how the new process goes. We will most likely be flying Southwest for our cruise next year. Especially considering I have at least one Rapid Reward ticket!

Hi Chris--we have flown under the new SW boarding process a couple of time already and I like this new boarding much better than the old "cattle run" process. It's just that I am anal about checking-in the minute our 24 hour window opens up. This just goes to show how much my head has been into work and not getting ready for the trip.

I just read a report from Winotracy who is on the repo cruise. She said the seas were a bit rougher today, but they should make it to CC tomorrow morning and back to Port Canaveral on Monday with no problem. Our departure on Monday looks good as our first stop at CC on Tuesday, but of course that could change. Still not sure what might happen after that. We are scheduled for Nassau on Wednesday and back to CC on Friday. This could possibly turn into a Mystery Cruise.........

Alex's first day of 3rd grade was taken quickly and is not on this computer (and I was lucky to get one shot of him--he was so embarrassed), so here he is with Jiminy Cricket at Conservation Station in AK. I didn't even know that Jiminy was one of the characters that greeted people.

Thomas was pretty happy to see his daddy!
  pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
I hope everything works out.
I just want you to know that as I was reading your post Harrison was going past and stopped and said "look at the kitty". He loved it.:thumbsup2

That's ok... I'll post pics of Brady this week.
Court is going in on Wed. to be induced. That's Mike's birthday. (the 3rd) If she doesn't have Brady on Wed., the next day is Addison's birthday.
The weird thing is that when Addison was born, Court was being induced on Mike's birthday, but she was born shortly after midnight, (the 4th)
I'll post some pic of Addison's 2nd b-day party tomorrow.

Good morning people.
We've been awake since 5am:headache:
Ellis wanted to "camp" in the lounge last night so we got the sleeping bag for him etc and he decided at 5am this morning that it was time to get up:sad2:
Our pizza last night was delicious - we're having the remainder for dinner tonight with some wedges and coleslaw - yummo!
The reason I was so tipsy last night was that the girl serving us was in a competition to sell wine, so we had to help her out and have 2 bottles:rolleyes1
Today we're off to a big gardening show near us. Its the main one of the year so I'm hoping to buy loads:yay:
Trouble is I no longer have any room in my garden (but that wont stop me:rolleyes1 ) Ellis might soon find that his goal post and swing have been replaced with a large plant and flower border:rolleyes1
Anyway, have a great day everyone and a safe trip to Andy:goodvibes

Just a note to UK people - Jess, Sean (hope you got my reply pm) etc
More reasons to get your next Oct flights sorted sooner rather than later -
theres news that XL airlines (Travel City Direct passengers) is going bust.
The reason Virgin reduced their priced so dramatically the other day is partly due to this - to grab TCD's potential 2009 customers and to fill their own planes.
If they do go bust the TCD passengers will have to rebook elsewhere, meaning the Virgin flights will fill up even quicker. I would get in before this happens if I were you as the prices will soar back up once TCD goes under.
Good luck everyone:thumbsup2

Thanks. I am a little frustrated with the nat'l news....only reporting NOLA. There are lots of middle class and poor people who live elsewhere in Louisiana who are evacuating and basically getting ready to pull themselves up by their bootstraps without complaint.....sorry, I'm on my soapbox. Prayers for all of the Gulf Coast (yes, even NOLA) from me. If you hear them talk about towns named Morgan City, New Iberia, Abbeville, Intracoastal City, then you know my family is getting hit. Our thoughts and hearts are with you, Sistah! And the media is just dumb sometimes ... they always focus on the "big story" that will draw people in so they'll watch. But the American people know this is impacting everyone down there and we're concerned for all of our fellow citizens. :grouphug:

I'm just thinking that on our last cruise we tended to use the sofa as a bit of dumping ground when we came through the door as we'd asked for the little table to be removed to give us more room - if we had the upstairs bed for Ellis we could do this without having to move everything each evening.
I need to find out if 5020 has a 4th "in the ceiling" bed:confused3 I know it doesnt have a steamer trunk.

We have stayed in 5520 and I was quite sure Rachel had slept in the pull down bed but I checked on the DCL website before answering this to make sure and I put in a date for next Sept. with 2 adults and 2 children and both 5020 and 5520 came up as being available, so that confirms that there is a 4th bed in those cabins! When Rach was smaller she always liked to sleep in the pull down bed and all we would have to do is mention to our room steward that she would like to sleep in that bed and he'd make that up for her instead of the sofa bed. We too have used the sofa as another place to put stuff so it was nice to be able to leave it there and have her sleep in the upper bed!

OK, BOBers...I hate doing this but may I impose on a few thoughts and prayers for my daddy please? Seems like he fell for the 4th time this summer and is hurt again. Most of you remember last December and that he ended up in the hospital until April because of it. I won't go into detail here (because you know how I am about this thread), but if you remember to add John into your prayers tonight, it would be truly appreciated.

TGM?:confused3 - WHATS THAT?
TGM stands for Tour Guide Mike, it is an automated vacation planner created by someone that is a VIP tour guide for the Disney parks. If you go to the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board here on the DIS http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=30&f=2 he is the sponsor at the top of the page, just click where it says "click here to save $3!" and that will link you to the TGM website and the page that gives info about what it is about. With the DIS savings it is $18.95 and there is alot of info that you get including which date in your stay is best to visit each park to avoid the crowds (this is the main reason I bought this for our Christmas trip because I know it will be very crowded), recommended places to view parades and fireworks and loads of other info. There are also boards like here on the DIS but I haven't taken the time to check them out yet other than the one that is specific to this Dec.

Hi Janice, they were LOUD, actually all the screaming girls were louder :lmao: I ended up not "seeing" the concert, another of Rachel's friends was suddenly able to go so she bought my ticket from me and I ended up being the chaffeur. While it was still light out I sat outside one of the gate areas with some other parents and we could hear very well from there, then when it got dark and the mosquitos started biting I went to the car and I could still here very well from there and that was good enough for me :rotfl2: The girls said the concert was great!!!! We got there early enough and they got in the front of th line to get in so they were able to be in the front row of the lawn seats and Rach said they were actually good seats for lawn seats. She had a lot of fun!

Good morning everyone! :wave2:
I have posted installment #2 of our Disney Med Cruise on YouTube.
For those of you that missed the first part, I'll post links to both.
This second video is for a single day. July 10th we arrived in Naples. Our tour for the day took us to the Island of Capri, then Sorrento, and finally Pompeii. It was a very long day, but I would do it all over again if I could. :goodvibes
Enjoy!

We are from a town called Delcambre. (Sorry, I know I probably said that before now.)
:grouphug: That's how it seemed with Katrina too, there was so much news about the damage to New Orleans even though so much more of the Gulf coast had disastrous damage too and the media didn't cover much of that either.
Keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers :grouphug:

I hope all goes well. The roads here are packed with Mississppi & Lousiana cars. We had one outer band come through last night but it only lasted about 30 minutes. It's cloudy and breezy today. I can hear all the planes being sent out from the base. They don't take any chances.
Happy Sunday all.

We arrived back at the Radisson around 3pm, got checked-in took a couple of pics, then my mom and Walt left to head back to Tavares. They have about a 2 hour ride back home.

I went to see Mama Mia with daughter and grandkids. We loved it. I wanted to sing too. Prayers are with your family during the hurricane. Walts mom is not evacavating. She is staying home. I just spoke to her. Hope and pray she and Mr Russell will be okay. Diane

You drove up to a beautiful area of our state yesterday! If you are still looking for a Packer shirt for your grandson they usually have them at the Kohls dept. stores in the area and I have seen them at some of the local Targets and Wal-Marts too.
Have a great rest of your stay and safe travels home :moped:
