Have any of you done the HDD? I was thinking about going in December but can't find much info about it.....do you think it's ok for us (2 adults) or is it aimed more at children? Did you enjoy it?
Thanks in advance.

We saw the HDD in Oct 2006 with our 5 year old daughter. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was quite good fun. We sat on the upper level and although you have your own table, it is quite cosy with your neighbour's. Unfortunately the "neighbour" next to my DH hogged a lot of the space so he spent most of his time juggling elbows with her:lmao: The other drawback is you start with your back to the stage and the food is served in front of you and then you have to keep turning round to see the stage. If you go, ask for a table on the lower level.
The food is family style and served quickly, no gourmet meal but okay. My daughter loved the show and it was well done but I don't know if it was just the 2 of us whether I would have chosen to go. I think there are better venues and meals to be had elsewhere. But, of course, it depends on your sense of humour and what you enjoy, but if you pinned me down to an answer as to whether it's worth it for 2 adults, I would probably say no, do something else.

We are a group of three adults. We did HDD last year for the first time, and are returning again this year. Last year we were on the balcony and we did feel a bit left out of the action, although having said that various performers came up to the balcony level, so they didn't leave you completely out the loop. We were spoken to by one of the performers when they did the whole "where are you from" bit, so had the spotlight on us as the guy said "London, England" and everyone cheers. This year we are on the ground level, in the category 1 seats, much closer to the stage. Yay!
The food is quite simple and served quickly. The Strawberry Shortcake is very rich and was slightly too sickly for my taste. My sister didn't particularly like the main course, so our lovely server went out back and got her a pizza cooked!
We have done 'dinner shows' in the past but this one was the best. We have done Pirate Adventure and Arabian Nights, but on both occasions no one in our party liked the food, the entertainment was mediocre and they made you eat so quickly while the entertainment was on, so you either watched the show and missed dinner, or ate dinner and missed the show. HDD has a much better schedule of eating and entertainment!
I think as long as you are in the right frame of mind, willing to join in with the fun and games and not be too proud to make a bit of a fool of yourself, then you'll enjoy it! There's clapping, napkin twirling, playing of washboards, and servers dancing on stage with your dessert before they bring it over!!!

We did it 2 years ago, really enjoyed it. Even more so because our cast member friends paid for it:) most people like it, just a few don't. My kind of food, chicken, ribs etc. they also ordered a cake for DS birthday, all cast members sung to him, great evening. Nice to get there early and look around the animals etc. few things to see and do.

We did it last year and it was quite good. There was just me and DH and although it was ok I don't think it is something we would bother booking again we both ended up wishing we had booked the dinner at the Poly instead. There is a lot of audience interaction which took up too much of the 'show' for my taste I would have preferred more singing & dancing.

We did this last year and really enjoyed it (we were 2 adults) we had cat 2 seating on the balcony. We wouldn't have wanted cat 3 but all the cat 2 faced the stage. Here is the Seat map (http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw/images2003/languagespecific/eng/nontheme/resorts/del/FW/dining/hoopdeedoo/HoopDeeDooSeatingChart.pdf).
Food was good - we had a second order of the chicken!! Dessert was good too!
We would do it again :)

Thanks everyone. :flower3: I think we will give it a go.....now all I've got to do is try and fit it in to our really packed itinerary!
Thanks for the seating map Elise.....I have one more question though, do they 'pick' on people as part of the act? if so are you more likely to get picked if in the Category 1 seating section?

We did HDD with DS10 and DD13 and all enjoyed it. However, we also did the Spirit of Aloha show at the Poly Resort which we all preferred.
Food was much better at the Aloha show and the fire dancers/eaters were amazing. Afterwards we sat on the Poly beach and watched the fireworks above MK welcoming in 2007. A great night.
Would do Aloha again but not HDD.

it's so interesting to me to read the responses here...
we did it several years ago and really really really really really really really HATED it....really really....
we were at the first sitting and felt as if the whole thing was terribly rushed...as if all they were thinking about was getting us out and the next group in....
i really hate it when i'm expected to slog the food down my gullet....
as if they're expecting people to chow down at warp speed...
and the show was on while the food was served....
so what to do? eat or turn around and watch....
overall a terrible experience... and the very high price (for little value in our opinions) made it worse..
and i should add that we used to love the diamond horseshoe review...
and before that the melvin the moose breakfast..
so it's not as if i don't like corny country, because i do...
but i didn't like that experience..
however, i should also add that in all my years of hanging out on this board, there have only been about 2 other families who share my opinion of the HDD review..
all the rest have loved it....

We are with you, we really hated it too. Boar our CM srever did his best and even gave us a pen souvenier at the end, but we found it terribly cold and too patriotic. We would NOT do this again!

Did this a couple weeks ago.....brilliant.
We were on the lower floor at the raised tables, so did not get much interaction, but in general, a good night
