First let me thank each and everyone of you personally for participating in this swap for Make A Wish. If it was not for your kindness and generousity I would not be able to do this project I have been brewing in my head. The kindness of others makes a big difference in people’s lives. I have spoken to my son’s wish coordinator of the idea and she is thrilled with it and thinks it will be a wonderful addition to a Disney trip. She is very excited to see the outcome (I bragged about everyones’ great work from this board).

My goal is to have the books all compiled and ready for delivery for the first of the year. I am going to take them to Raleigh, NC personally. I figure I would need a few weeks with the holidays and any swaps I am in to put the albums together for delivery.

This is my first time hostessing a swap, so if there is anything I left out or any questions or suggestions please ask.

General Guidelines:

This swap is for a 8x8 autograph albums for one boy and one girl receiptant going to Disney from the Make A Wish Foundation chaper in North Carolina. You choose a character (or more if you would like) for either boy or girl group listed below. Any character from any of the four parks can be choosen. I did verify that the kids do go to all four parks. This includes the regulars, villians, ones who do not sign and the unique ones you can find. You can choose to do a one or two page 8x8 page for that particular character.

I will pm everyone my address for mailing. Please package your pages in a manner that will prevent damage. My postman will put the size of priority envelopes inside my box, which will have to be bent a little.

Due to the nature of the kind of album we are making I only thought of two requirements that should be followed and the rest of the embellishing and creativity should be left to up to you.

Requirements:

1. Photomat for a 4x6 picture double matted.

2. Autograph box/shape for the character to sign. The size should allow enough room for those big hands to be
able to sign. Some of the characters have big autographs. You can make this area any shape. For example for Pluto you can make him sign a bone, chip –n-dale sign acorns, or just a regular square will work. On a side note if you are doing a character who does not sign skip this requirement and use your best judgement on the page to embellish.

3. At least one element on each page(besides the photo mat and/or autograph box/shape required) page so the child can recognize what character is related to the page. Something
that will stand out, so when they are in line they or their parents will be able to get the page easily for the
character sign. For example a paper piecing of the character, a tag with the characters picture on it, etc.

When embellishing please no handwritten lettering.

4. One tag (not attached to the page) list your disname and a word of advice, helpful hint or just some disneyism
on it. I will be putting the tags in a pocket page as the last page of the album, so each child will know all the
wonderful people who made this album possible. Also on your personal pages write your disname and/or real
name on the back of your pages.

Check out my thread I posted to show some pages from my personal album I recently did just to get an idea of a one page and two-page spreads look like. By no means do you have to follow my format. I love the look of the albums made and given to our disfriends on this board. Everyones style is different and I think that adds a great look to any album.

Since I have Snow Whites and Cruellas autographs can I switch around a bit and do Snow for girl and Cruella/puppies for boy?
And when I go back in October I will still see if I can get any baddies.

Thanks for signing up NEE. When I made my book the smallest size I went to was a 3x4 area. For the ones you signed up for I believe Piglet, and Ariel and probably Genie should fit that, but I would not go smaller for the fact of their big hands. Some of the ones I did get had a little trouble getting it into that space, but they managed to do it. Hope that helps.

I also did shapes. For example I did an acorns for Chip n Dale. I made it 4 1/4 tall and 3 1/4 wide. For Pluto I made his bone 3 1/4 tall by 6 1/4 wide. There was plenty of room for him to sign. I will take a few more pics of my pages and post to the link I posted on the first post so you can see. I also did plates for Chef Mickey (Mickey is posted). Mickey Mouse had a little trouble staying inside the area, but Donald, Minnie, and Goofy had no problem.

Yes that is correct. For example I am doing one set of Baloo, Green Army Men and Tow Mater, and Lighting for the Boy group. And for my girl choices I am doing Minnie, Daisy, and Donald.

The layout can be one or a two page spread. I am going to post some of my pages that I did last month for my own book where I did one or two page spreads.

And since this swap is a giving swap and you decided you want to do more pages I think it will be okay to add more to your choices even if it is already closed. So you can decided now or later if you would like to do more.

I would say yes for them. A one page would be to tight. I did a 2 and my siggie area was still to small. I also only found Mr. and not the Mrs. So you could do a one page spread just for general Incrediables because they may not meet both. Just an idea. My 2 page spread I will re doing to fit just the Mr., since the Mrs. was not around.

Gotcha down. Your character pages do not have to be 2 pages. It can be one. As long as you can get 4x6 photo mat and an autograph area no smaller than 3x4 along with one character embelly it can be one page. I posted a few of mine in a seperate thread for examples. The link is on the first post if you want to take a peek.

I never thought about adding anything else, but a my favorite memories page, especially if it is one pager (might be a good filler page if it comes up uneven in the book), might be a nice touch. The child could kinda of personalize their book as well.

The only place I saw Herbie at WDW this summer was as part of the Backlot Tour and it was just kind of "there". And I only saw it one time at DL and that was when the movie first came out.

I don't think Herbie meets anymore- he is in Lights Motor Action and I think there is or was a spot where you can take a picture but he is not animated like the Lightning.

Do you know where the power rangers meet and park their car? Stand facing the car -- turn to your left and head down the street -- you will see the singing in the rain umbrella on your left and Herbie on your right -- if you continue down this street you would end up at Al's Toybarn on your right.

They took it out when they put in the Pixar Place Toy Story meet and greet. It has all kinds of cute photo ops on the way to meet an greet. There is one with aliens, one with gameboards, a rocket ship, and 3 others I think. They have two different paths that you walk along. One for the person in he photo and one for the photographer. If you walk along the correct path you will be able to get great photos and end up together at meet and greet time. When I was there a number of people weren't following directions. They even had footprints to tell you where to stand.

It was crowded (bout 15-20 minutes) when I went in early July. I was there mid morning. It is not open all day, but it was listed on the times schedule for the day. It is directly across from the entrance to TSM. It is air conditioned and if you are inside you immeadiately start having the photo ops and that helps keep you busy.

We faired out okay. Having no water was a little difficult,but I filled up the bathtub and had my gallons bought. Thankfully my DS12 did not need any 02 while the power was out, so we were okay with that, but I did have tanks if I needed it. Anything bigger than a catagory 1 I will be leaving, because the power probably will be out longer than a few hours. Thanks for asking.

Today I went to M's and bought 6 packs of 10 8x8 page protectors for the albums. They were 40%, so I thought that was a good price for what I will need to get the albums ready for delivery.

I've finished my monthly scrapping goal of 10 pages and now I'm set to start on this! I have ideas for Pluto but not for Cruella yet. I'll have to get Banana to help me!

I bought pins at DL for the pages if thats ok. It makes the page a little lumpy but not bad. Would you prefer that I do that (I made a little side pocket for the Pluto one and would probably do the same for Cruella) or would you prefer that I just just them on the tag somehow? Im fine either way.

I am such a perfectionist. I am just hating the way this looks. I am trying to use the princess paper packs and me and this paper aren't playing well together. I may take to running with scissors soon. :sad2:

You can never go wrong with M&MS and the star clips came from Staples. They had this big bin with dividers at the beginning of the school year and you could fill a tub for about 5 bucks. Do you have a Staples by you?

I generally can just open the album and then I copy the address bar at the top. Then in my post I paste what was in the address bar when I was looking at the album and then anyone can hit the link and will be at your album.

I finally got all the pictures uploaded and have posted a link so everyone can see the wonderful pages. I have not put them into each album yet. I will begin to work on that in the next few days. I am going to do them alphapetical.

Today I got Tiggermei pages. I was totally surprised, because for some reason I thought I already had them. One of those V-8 momments. They are great, as everyones are.

Thanks again to everyone. The first of next month is my goal to deliver them in person (it will be a 6 hrs round trip drive). I want to take my son, who was a wish receiptant with me along with his nurse for the delivery. I am going to try to take a few pics to post as well.

Hey! I was just checking out the pictures...everything is wonderful! Wow! But, the left page of my Snow White LO is sideways...the license plate should be right side up and the title goes up the side...So it needs to rotate 90 degrees to the left.

I just thought I would let you all know about the delivery on the albums. My plan is I am going up to Raleigh on January 23. Little later than planned, but for good reason.

1. I NEED tires. Of course the ones on my car have to be ordered and to do that I got to make a deposit first, which I was going to do today, but then I was informed there was no rebate like I was told on the phone, so now I am waiting till Jan. 16 when the rebate will return. It will take 3 days to get here, so hopefully I will have them in time. I dont want to take the trip until I get the new ones. Mine are in bad shape.

2. It gives me some time to make a gift basket for each. I decided it would be nice to put them in a nice basket with some trinkets.

3. It is my son's b-day. The one who received a wish last year. I thought it would be a nice way to celebrate it. He is going to be thirteen, but only has the capacity of a little infant. It is hard to find ways to celebrate his birthday, since toys and such he can not use. I thought this would be nice way to commerate it. Plus on this day his best nurse is working and she would love to do this with my ds.

4. I got rear ended the day after Christmas, so maybe I will have time to go by the Chrysler dealer to get them to order what they need to fix a Nissan. Go figure... no body shop at the Nissan place. Plus the insurance person recommended me to go there. Probably wont be fixed by then, but that is no biggie.

So that is where I am at for delivering the albums. I am going to take some pictures. Since I have an extra hand I might get some good ones.

Thanks everyone for the nice well wishes for my ds b-day. I think it will be nice for the MW workers to see him and I want to tell them thanks for the swing set and special seat for him to swing in. I get to have both of my boys outside together.

Plus I can show my able body ds how important it is to do good things for others. Like all the help from you gals to make someones day brighter.

Yesterday we delivered the albums to MAW. It was a nice visit and everyone who was there came out and welcomed us and were so estatic over the baskets. They wanted to see the pages, but not unwrap the baskets, so I gave them the website and instructions on how to find this thread, so hopefully they have or will be able to find it. I made cards for each basket and here is what I wrote inside of each card:

Have a magical time at Disney World. It is a place to make wonderful memories that will last a life time. This gift basket was made for you from a group of women, who live all across the country, but came together and wanted you to have a way to capture your memories at Disney. We are from a scrapbook board called Disboards.com. We are women who love to scrapbook and love Disney. We hosted a swap called Make A Wish album swap. Inside you will find your autograph album. It contains many characters to find for autographs. There is a place for a 4x6 photo and a smaller box/tag for the characters signature. There is even some tape included, so all you need to do is put your picture in there when you return home with your memories. The last page of your album has messages from all the women who helped make this album.

Enjoy your trip. Create wonderful memories never to be forgotten. Feel the magic of Disney.
