What kind of discounts will I get with my new AAA?

I am going to join the Alabama AAA (it's only 54.00 the first year and 44.00 afterwards) and wanted to know what kind of discounts I can expect for trips to WDW? Anyone?? :confused3

You should know that discounts are NOT stackables. So you can either use a public code, a PIN, or AAA, be it for a room-only rez, or a package.

As an example, room-only gives you a 15-30% off depending on season and type of property.

Packages are also discounted but the savings are based only on the room part of it. I.e. if you price a room-only with AAA, and tack on tix, you'll spend about the same on a package.

Now, local AAA offices sell tickets with a discount, but some vary in lenght and some require the water option.

Finally, the only other 'perk' you get is a parking pass to the AAA diamond lot on MK.

So...does AAA come out with different discounts at different times of the year or is it a standard % off?

I was wondering about this same thing. Up until now, I've only booked MYW packages. But we are doing some preliminary planning for a trip late next year, and I was intrigued by the 15-30% off that you can get on room reservations. So are you saying that getting the discounted room and the tickets separately would cost the same as just getting the package?

I have not booked through AAA, so not speaking from experience. However what I have read here, some book a room only through AAA, and then buy discounted tickets separately, also through AAA.
That is fine, unless you want a Disney dining plan. Then you must buy a WDTC package through AAA. And unless you are a WDW AP-er, then you must also buy at least a one day ticket for everyone on your res.
Under a package I think the only discount is on the room.
So it all depends on if you want a Disney dining plan.
We often read where someone has booked a room only, whether it be through Disney, AAA, Expedia, etc. Then tickets separate through a discount place, again such as AAA.
Then they try to figure out a way to add a DDP onto their room only and separate tickets.
No can do. The DDP is a WDTC exclusive. So a WDTC package must be purchased, with very few exceptions, such as DVC staying on points.

If you go to the AAA.com website, click Travel and then Disney, you can view their on-line brochure which tells you how much of a discount you can get for each type of resort (value, mod, deluxe, etc.) during which season (value, regular, peak), and the dates for each.

We booked a room-only moderate for January and got 20% off. We also bought discounted tickets (not through AAA, but that's another story), because the DDP doesn't save anything for us. The money we save on the room & tickets will pay for a big chunk of our dining!
