Thanks for the warm welcomes! :lovestrucCan you tell I am a rookie - posting my message twice!?! Ooops!
I may be interested in being part of the fish extenders - if I can figure out what a fish extender is. This is all new to me. I've just realized that I have seventeen pages of previous thread to read. I'll get started and perhaps I'll find out about the fish extenders as well as discovering our new cruising friends.
I have a question. What does one wear to the pirate dinner?
Thanks!

Oh good, somebody to compare hockey notes with...my entire family plays hockey, except for DW. Oldest DD played at Salve Regina University, DS will be playing at Lyndon State College in Vt this coming year, and youngest DD plays on the boys team in high school. I am semi retired from coaching after coaching youth, high school and college ranks...now I just work at Providence College as an off ice official.

Sorry Keever, I missed your question about Pirate Night. We don't dress up as such, we tend to wear a pirate-y t-shirt, with scarves, bandanas, tattoos, jewellery etc, though some people do go down the Captain Jack Sparrow route, and they look great pirate:

Can I ask where you found these on Ebay? I tried a search before and could not find anything. I'm not sure if I want to put the effort into making one or not - I'm clueless when it comes to sewing. Even if I used glue, it would probably come out crooked! :lmao: Thanks in advance!!
We are getting ready to leave for Myrtle Beach this weekend and with three weeks of kids activities in July I know the time will fly!! August will be here before we know it!!:woohoo:

Hi,
We got our fish extenders off of e-bay last year too. The lady that made them takes Disney Cruises herself and she did a really great job with ours.
This summer is flying by fast already--hard to believe that the 4th is just around the corner. Have fun in Myrtle Beach this weekend SSR Lover. Hopefully it will be a fun and relaxing vacation for you and your family.

Count us in for the fish extender activity.:fish: I have some Canadian items to share. :) I'll get started on making a fish extender in spite of my limited sewing skills. I made the magnetic door decorations last December. Is there anything else I should be crafting in advance of the cruise?
Do we put treats in the fish extenders daily?
Sorry for all the questions!!!

Thats great Keever, you just need to PM Karen (DisneyWhirled) with the details of everyones names, kids ages and room number and she'll up date the FE list :)
I think most of us are giving our FE gifts out once during our Cruise
I'm not a crafty person at all (hence buying my FE off ebay :rotfl2:) and I have got door decorations from our previous cruises (with our names on), it would be nice if we had a 'Cruise-O-Maniac' door sign for this Cruise, but unfortunately I'm not a very creative person ;)

If so, our family:
pirate: DH René, hockey coach, follows the Montreal Canadiens, grade 7-8 teacher (French Immersion, Phys Ed, Social Sciences)
:cheer2:DW: Laura (that's me, writing under the approximated name of our new dog Keeva...) mom, Spec Ed Consultant
:rolleyes1DS: Jacob, age 13, hockey player (forward), skateboarder, grade eight
:woohoo:DS: Danick, age 11, hockey player (goalie), Disney pin collector and trader, grade seven

Hi everyone! I just spent the past couple of hours reading through this thread still not believing that we will be joining all of you for this cruise. My crazy DH got up this morning and decided out of the blue to book this cruise for our 17th anniversary, which is on August 16th. :cool1:
Everyone thinks we are a "Disney Crazy" family since we have been to the World the past two Winter Breaks and are going back again this Winter Break too. We have always wanted to go on a Disney cruise, but with a family of 5 the cost has been prohibitive. DH found a decent deal this morning, so he decided to go for it!!! We have 3 boys - Matt will be 11 when we sail, and Jack and Ryan are 6.
We have been on Norwegian and RCCL before so we are not new to cruising, but we are new to Disney cruising, so I would appreciate any advice you could give me regarding sailing on Disney. Is there anything special I need to book in advance? (If it's not too late.) I saw that some of you seemed to be booking dining... We are scheduled to dine at the late seating. I know that we need to pick out our excursions.
I also don't know our stateroom number yet, but I do know that we are on deck 8. Sorry for all of the questions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome Lani and family!!! Glad you are joining us!! Tell your DH that I like his sense of adventure!! Wake up and book a trip...how cool!!!
We are also seen as Disney maniacs. My co-workers think I'm nuts and most of our family knows not to ask us where we are vacationing, 'cause they already know LOL :).
If you and DH want to dine at PALO for brunch or dinner, you may want to sign on to see if you can get in. If there is no availablility, don't despair, because you can always go Rockin'D bar upon arrival and see if there is availablity. If you prefer early seating, you may want to call to be on the waiting list for early seating. It is not guaranteed, but worth a shot if that is what you want.
As you probably already read, some of us Diser's on this cruise are doing a fish extender exchange and decorating our doors. I made a few door signs (posted above) that you can feel free to use for your door.
I think we are going to have a meet at some point, too. My son Colby is 10, so he and your oldest will be in the Lab together, if your son goes at all. My DD will be in the Club with your boys. She is turning 7 just before we leave.
Well, I hope I've helped you some! Please feel free to ask away and again, Welcome!!!

Welcome aboard Lani, it's great to have another 'Disney Crazy' family sailing with us :rotfl2:
Like Karen suggested, the main things to book, would be PALO (the adults only restaurant) and the kids clubs. I would add, that if you've got time to read some trip reports, as you can pick up some ideas from them ::yes::
Would you like to take part in the Fish Extender exchange ? It's lots of fun
Karen ~ I've just read your pre-trip report (thanks for putting the link in your signature). I love your photos ::yes::

Thanks for the welcome!!! Yeah, I'm sure the ship needed one more "Disney Crazy" family!!! :rotfl2: I am going to start hunting down some trip reports to get some ideas. I don't think that we are interested in eating at Palo's, and the kids are registered for the kid's clubs so I'm good to go there.
I just hope that we can get them to go in there! I'm afraid that the Norwegian kids clubs might have ruined that for us - when we took the kids on their one and only cruise, the kids clubs on the Dawn were not very well run and and boys had a terrible time. They didn't want to go back. Now they think that the kids clubs are boring. Hopefully, Disney can change all of that for them. I'm thrilled that it looks like some of you have kids that are the same age as my guys! :cool1:
As for the fish extender exchange - I have a few questions about that since I cannot sew - can I get one in a craft store and decorate it myself, and what kind of presents do you exchange? Is there a price limit and are they all Disney themed? (aren't I just full of questions....can you tell I'm a teacher!)
One more thing...is it worth trying to get on the wait list for the early seating for dinner or is the second seating ok? If so, how do we go about doing this?

Hey Lani
I will try and help you by answering some of you questions
Fish Extenders ~ I think a few of us have bought ours from Ebay, but I'm sure you would be able to find some kind of organiser from somewhere - I just wouldn't know where to suggest.
FE Gifts ~ we haven't set a price limit, but don't go to too much expense. I can appreciate that things are tight, what with jobs and the economy, so if all you (or any of us) can afford is one gift per cabin, then that is fine, but if you want to buy a gift for everyone on the list, then that is fine too :thumbsup2 A few suggestions would be : something from where you live, pirate goodies (for Pirate Night), or you could make something (if you're a crafty person - which I am not :rotfl2:), and no, they don't need to be Disney themed :)
Dining ~ If you wish to be waitlisted for early dining, then I would phone DCL and asked to be waitlisted, also once you get onboard you can go to Wavebands to request it there too (just check your Navigator once onboard for more info)
Also, have you requested the DCL dvd that you can get on-line on the DCL website ? It will show your kids all the kids clubs, as I'm sure they'd love them after seeing all the cool things they do there
Well, I hope that helps :)
3smithboys

Thanks for all of the helpful info Mandy!
I am going to order the DVD so the kids can see the kids club. I think that will help. Thanks for the suggestion.
Before I call and get waitlisted, I guess my question for all of you who have been on the cruise before is this - is second seating that terrible? :confused3
Also, is anyone going to Atlantis via the Comfort Suites while in Nassau? We are going to the Comfort Suites and since we are 5 people have an issue - we can only get a room for 4 people. I was wondering if there was anyone who was going who had less than 4 in a room and wanted to share the expense of a room so we could get an additional band. Right now we had to buy an excursion through DCL for my DH for a hefty price, and he has to meet us at Atlantis while I take the kids to the hotel!
Thanks!
Lani

Hi Lani and welcome:welcome:to you and your family.
I think that your kids will really enjoy the kid's clubs. I have a couple of kids in the club and 1 in the lab and they really like it! I am sure the DVD will be helpful!
I hope that you are about to take part in the fish extender exchange--it should be a lot of fun!!!!:thumbsup2
We actually really like 2nd dining. It seems more relaxing to not have to rush to dinner after spending a day at Castaway or on an excursion. We just grab a snack or have something from room service to hold us over until we have dinner at around 8:15. Also on the last day when we disembark--we have 2nd seating breakfast at around 8:00 am instead of 1st seating at 6:30 am or so. That time is just way too early for my family :)

07-06-2009, 01:29 AM
Lani, we actually prefer late dining, but I have two teens, so early dining would be too early for us. It really depends if your kids are used to eating a bit later or not :)
We won't be getting off the ship at Nassau, as we like to take advantage of a quiet ship
Have a great day everyone :thumbsup2

Thanks Mandy and Vicky!
I think that we will stick with the second dining. We just got back from the NJ shore, and Nick pointed out that most nights we didn't eat until that late anyway so I don't think it's going to be a problem. I'm sure if we get hungry we will be able to find a snack somewhere on the ship to hold us over until dinner! :rotfl2: I like the idea of the later breakfast on the last day to be sure!!!
We are all set to go to join you for the fish extender exchange! We ordered one on ebay last night... (I told you I wasn't crafty!!!) But I can sure shop!!! How does this work? I want to make sure we do it right! :teacher:

We prefer late seating. First, we normally eat late at home, and I just have a feeling around 10 or so I would be looking for more food, which I most certainly don't need! :scared1: But the other advantage of course is to not have to rush around after a day on Nassau, or Castaway Cay.

I've got most of my gifts now, and I've got them all bagged up, and I will be delivering mine during the day of Pirate Night (as I've got Pirate goodies for the boys). We have decided to deliver just once during the cruise. If there's anything else you need to know - then just ask :)

It sounds like I've got some shopping to do!!!
So how exactly does the FE exchange work? Do the gifts get wrapped? Are they tagged with the recipients’ names? Do we put which family they are from on them as well? I've never done this before and want to make sure to do it right!
From what I seem to understand it works kind of like a "Secret Santa," and we deliver little presents one time to each cabin during the cruise. We will be given the names, genders, and ages of each of the people in the cabins so we know who we are getting for.
Is this correct? Do I need to know anything else?
Thanks,
Lani

I'm glad you are part of the Fish Extender exchange. It has been fun to think of potential items to share with our new friends.
My son Danick is rather hesitant to go to the kids club, but has agreed to go the first night. One guide I read said that this is a must as many friendships are forged in the first hours of the cruise, and attending on the first night makes it easier to return to the club at later times.
Perhaps we could arrange to let Colby, Matt, Vicki's DD and Danick meet a bit early and we can take them to the first kid's club meeting as a small band of friends? party:
They have much in common already - their parents are crazy for all things Disney.

Hi Keever and thanks for the welcome!
I think setting up a meeting for the kids ahead of time and having them go together to the club is a great idea! I think that will help them feel more comfortable right from the start. :thumbsup2
I noticed that some of us have children of similar ages for the younger club - maybe we can get the younger kids together too?
I just called to see if I have my cabin assignment yet for the FE exchange, but I was told that I just have a room guarantee as of right now - so all I know is that I will be on Deck 8. I should know 15 days before we sail....ugh. I'll keep checking on line. :rolleyes1
Now I just have to start shopping for FE exchange items....where to begin...hmmm.... :dance3:

Hi,
I think it sounds like a great idea too. :thumbsup2 Adriane really likes the lab and enjoys hanging out there. She's a little shy, but would enjoy making some new friends that first night on the ship.
Lani- I think it also would be a great idea for the younger kids too. My son Zach (6) and daughter Stephanie (5) will be in the 5-7 age group and would enjoy making some new friends that first night, since they will probably be a little nervous to start with.

It's been a crazy past few days! :scared1: DH, Nick, was diagnosed with Lyme disease on Tuesday. He wasn't feeling well for a couple of weeks and broke out in a weird rash on his back and chest - but it wasn't the traditional "bulls eye" rash that is usually associated with Lyme's disease. He also had a low fever, chills, and night sweats... (but of course nothing was wrong with him! ;)) I think he was down playing how he felt because his family was visiting from England, and he doesn't get to see them very often.
I always thought that a person only got 1 bulls eye only where the tick bit them and no where else; I had no idea that when the disease progressed that the rash also could move to other places around the body until I was talking to my friend who is a dr! So, I made Nick an appointment to see the dr (knowing full well that was the only way he was going to go!!!:rotfl2:)
Luckily, they caught it fairly early so he just has to take the antibiotic for 3 weeks, and that should take care of it! :woohoo: The crazy thing with this medicine is that he shouldn't be out in the sun too much - could you all imagine him being on the cruise on that - yikes! He would have been crispy fried!!! Good thing he'll be finished with it by then! :thumbsup2
Now the trick for him is to not get reinfected - between his job - he is a PE teacher and the ropes course director for his school. He spends so much time in the woods and in the trees, and he is a camp counselor in the summer- and he does the ropes course there in the trees again, and we even have a family of deer in our back yard -ugh- I think I need to buy him a bubble to live in!!! :lmao:
But, the good news is that I've received our fish extender, been shopping for items for the FE exchange :yay:, and even hit the malls for a few items of clothing! :rolleyes1
Keever, thanks for offering to make the name tags for the older kids - I can't suggest a place for us to meet since- I'll leave that to the experts who have been before. Do you think that we should have the younger group meet at the same place as the older group? Would that be easier so we don't have to arrange 2 meeting places?
Mandy, I loved your daughter's prom pictures! Everyone looked beautiful. It was so nice of you to do that for her friend... she will never forget that! :wizard:

Mandy-your daughter looked gorgeous and your post about her friend and how you dressed her up brought tears to my eyes. You are one awesome mom!!! I am glad that they had a good time!!
Keever-name tags are an awesome idea!! Thank you so much for offering to do them!! I am so happy that Colby will be able to meet some friends before going into the kids club, it will help a lot!
Lani-I'm sorry about DH, but I am glad they caught it in time!! I worry about Lyme disease, too. My DH is a surveyor so he is always in the woods or in fields. I wish they could come out with a vaccination! We are in Southern Maine, where do you live?
I can't believe we are 5 weeks out today!! DH and I went last night to get the "family" fish extender gifts...the only problem is they won't fit in the FE!!!!
So, we are planning on leaving them on the floor underneath the FE. I hope no one takes them :)
As far a meeting up for all the kids to meet, it seems it may be a little crowded, but how about the Goofy pool before fire drill? If we maybe co-ordinate an item to wear/bring/display, we could find eachother easily?? Just a thought!
For those of you that have cruised before with kiddos, when do we take them to the kids club to get acquainted?

Hi Lani,
Wow! I am glad that they discovered your husband's lyme's disease. My husband Marty got lyme's disease a few years ago and ended up getting Bells palsy with it. His face still isn't the same, but it has gotten better some. We live in southwest Wisconsin and I have known several people in our area that have gotten Lyme's disease. We live in a hot spot here and it scares me ---especially since we live out in the country. I always worry when the kids play out in the grass and such. Marty had to get antibiotics for 3 weeks, plus IV antibiotics for almost a month, since he ended up getting lyme's meningitis. Ticks are pretty scary, since they can be so small.:scared1:
I hope your husband will have a complete recovery and will be alright for the cruise.
I am glad that you got your FE in the mail. Hard to believe that in 5 weeks we will be on the ship:yay: I can't wait!

Karen,
Hi,
I think that having the kids meet up before the boat drill is a great idea. What time were we planning on having the families meet the first day. Was it at 3:00 and have we decided whether or not to meet in the Promegrade (sp) Lounge or at the goofy Pool? Either place is fine with me. Do we want the kids to meet after the family meeting or at the same time? I know it can get crazy before the boat drill, but maybe if we wanted it separate then meeting at 3:30 would give us enough time to get back to the rooms to get our preservers on.
Since the Dis color is lime green maybe we could wear something lime green to show that we are on the Dis board and also help us find each other easier. We will probably wear lime green shirts or something lime that day. That is just an idea. We could also do something else too. Anyone have any ideas too?
I think that we can take them in the lab/clubs before and after dinner. I know we have late seating and the kids usually go to the lab/club after we eat supper. I can't remember if they go before or not. I think they have some
getting to know you or free time activities before hand and maybe we could get the kids together and have them meet then. How many of you have late seating for dinner, as well as early seating?
Keever,
Thanks so much for offering to do name tags. I think that it will be helpful for the kids to meet up before they go into the lab/clubs.

Thanks Karen, Mandy and Vicki for your good wishes for Nick! He is starting to feel better - just really tired and milking it for all that it's worth, of course!!! :rolleyes1
Karen, we live in Lafayette Hill, PA - right outside of Philadelphia. We have a lot of Lyme around us, so I guess we've been lucky so far. Now I'm worried about the kids since they spend so much time outside....ugh!
Mandy, Nick is from Mansfield - right outside of Nottingham. We met a little over 18 years ago while I was doing my teaching practice in Chichester where he was also at University. We got married less than a year later, and I moved to England. We lived in Chichester for another 3 years, and then we moved back to the Philadelphia area where we have ever since.
Vicki, that is such a scary story! I hope that Marty is feeling better and will make a full recovery! I have been reading a lot about Lyme and am so thankful that we caught it in the beginning of the second stage. You know first hand all of the problems that this can cause!!! :scared1:
I am starting to get excited... can't wait to meet everyone!

Hello! I finally ordered my FE the other day, so hopefully it will come in the next few days. Are you guys personalizing yours? I'm wondering if I should experiment with the printable iron-on transfers to put our names on it. Let me know if you have any other creative ideas (I was also thinking about velcro). Now I need to finish up my FE gifts and start shopping for sunscreen, etc. Of course after 2 weeks of swim lessons I need to replenish my supply anyway!
Tomorrow night we are going to the Baltimore Symphony for a concert of all Disney songs. They are going to play the music with scenes from the movies up on a screen. It should be a good show - hopefully I'll be able to resist the urge to sing along!:rotfl:
By the way, we are late dinner (I'm not sure if we're wait-listed for early or not - I asked our CM to put us on the list, but he never said he did). In case I don't get a chance to check back in over the next few days, I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!!

VA Girl - that's quite a group you've got there! It's great that your kids are the same age as many of our kids! We are planning to get the kids together at some point on the first day so they can meet each other. Then we are going to let them go to the kids club together for the first meeting that evening as a group so they feel more comfortable... (do I have that right everyone?) Please feel free to join us!!! :woohoo:

Welcome to the newest families!:dance3:
Our family can hardly wait. The excitement for our cruise is building; it seems the topic of all our family conversations are about the countdown to our cruise. Is it too early to start packing?
I've started the nametags.
Can I pencil in the family meeting at 3 pm? Promenade Lounge or at the Goofy Pool? This seems the best place for the kids to meet as well.
What time do the kids clubs open?
VA Girl

Hey everyone!! Thank you for all the warm welcomes:goodvibes.
As far as the meet goes...on all of my previous Disney cruises we have met in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm and it has worked really well. I think the Goofy Pool may be too chaotic and we wouldn't know who was for the meet and who wasn't. In the Promenade Lounge at that time there really isn't anyone in there except for the meet and greet families. Just my thoughts....
We have early dining and are hoping we don't have a problem with all sitting together. I've seen large groups of people sitting together in the past but have never really payed attention to how many there were. I requested for us to all sit together and figure I'll go and see the dining manager to make sure everything is all set. We also want to have Palo Brunch and 6 of us booked it at 10am but the other 2 we added later and I could only get them an 11:30am reservation. I'm hoping they can fix that for us too. I figure I'll let everyone else explore the ship and I'll take care of all these details since I've been on a Disney cruise before and all the other families haven't.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and I can't wait to get this vacation started.

3pm at the Prom. Lounge will be perfect. I didn't realize that the lounge wouldn't be busy.
This way, those with kids and those without can still fee comfortable to meet up and relax without the hullabaloo of people sun bathing and swimming.
Sound good to everyone??
BTW-we haven't gotten anything from DCL yet, either.

Meeting at 3pm works for us as well. (I am assuming that we are getting all of the kids together then and just grouping them up according to their kids club ages...and introducing them!!! :thumbsup2) Also, We are getting transported from the Dolphin at 12pm using Disney transportation....I have no idea how long it takes to get to the ship and through everything.... will we be able to make it by then?
We haven't received anything from DCL yet either! (But we just found out what cabin we were in last week!!! :rotfl2:)

No luggage tags for us yet. Hopefully they will arrive any day now. I have to tell you all I had a dream about my fish extender last night. I can't remember the details but I woke up at 2:00 thinking about all I have to do before we leave (finish fish extender gifts, pack, figure out pirate costumes, ship a box of goodies to the resort, order water, get Bonine, etc.). I was up til after 4:00 with nothing but Disney on my mind. I better get some of this stuff done so I can sleep!!!

Ok, random thoughts here. First, YIKES..can't believe it's only a little over 2 weeks before we board the ship! In a sense it's too far away, but in another sense, YIKES:scared1::scared1:Question becomes am I ready:confused3 Ok, that was only a fleeting thought:laughing:
I have been checking our flights on an online tracker to see what kind of on time record they are having. This morning it got to Orlando at 8:47 AM..heck that's in time to catch the gate opening! Well almost. :) Of course not everyone in my family is thrilled about the plane taking off at 6:15 AM. :confused3
Packing, yep, I am ready to leave tomorrow!
I bought myself a new digital slr, which I have wanted for years now. Can't wait to put it to good use. Even takes HD video. Now I am contemplating buying a really good zoom lens for it. or Maybe not. :confused3
Got all my days planned, for the 4 days we will be in the park before the ship.
Oh, in the mean time, I bought another addon DVC contract at BLT!:scared1::scared1: Don't ask me why. :confused3That gives me enough points to sleep a small army now. :lmao:

Hey everyone!! All 4 of our families received their packets on Tuesday. We are all so excited :cool1::cool1:.
So it is set... we will meet at the Promenade Lounge at 3pm. Let me give a list of the kids... the girls are 6,6,8(almost 9),9,9,12 and the boys are 6 and 7. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't list the grown-ups ages, I don't think they would be too happy:sad2:. We'll just say we are ALL young at heart. We can't wait to meet everyone :grouphug:.
My family is going to WDW after the cruise for 6 days but the rest of the families have other plans. Is anyone else going to WDW after the cruise? It's been two years since we've been there, so we are excited. We just decided to do this a few weeks ago. I was telling my DH our plans and he said, "What no Disney World.. you need to book us some days after, I can't go to Florida and not go to Disney". So of course, I did. We booked the package deal with the free dining but I had a hard time getting the TS meals I wanted. I guess that is what happens when you book so late. It actually kind of stresses me out :scared1:because I usually plan everything way in advance. Oh well, I'm sure we'll still have a blast.
Well, bye for now and I'll talk with everyone soon.

Rick - What kind of camera did you get? My husband just bought a Nikkon D90 (I think) and he hasn't had a chance to play with it too much yet.
Gretchen - We are staying at SSR after the cruise, flying home on Sunday night. We are only planning on doing Epcot this time around. The kids want to do the Kim Possible missions in all the countries, so we thought this might be a good time to let them do that. We had our first DVC stay last fall, but we brought family with us who had never been before, so we didn't really get to explore the resort. We plan on swimming, mini-golf, etc., and maybe a day at a water park. We'll be back for a week in January, so we'll hit all the parks then.
I can't wait to land at MCO on the 16th!!!

Joining in the thread very late....My family is very excited about this cruise and is counting down the hours.
We live just outside of Baltimore, MD, and have a son (7) and daughter (4) who plan to spend most of the vacation in the Oceaneer's club. We also sailed on the Wonder in August 2007.
We're leaving on Saturday and staying at Pop Century...Hope to see everyone soon..
Brian
Welcome, Brian! It's good to know we will have some fellow Marylanders cruising with us! We will all be meeting at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge on Sunday, if you would like to join us. My youngest son is 6 and will be in the the Oceaneer's Club as well. We are all very excited, too!

It's finally here!!! We leave tomorrow morning!! We land at 1:30 and will be at CBR for the next 3 nights. We're sooo excited!
I agree about the packing now that there's the 50lb limit! I have it all in 3 suitcases, I'm just not sure how much they weigh! Guess we'll find out at DIA tomorrow morning!
See you all on Sunday!

Well I guess everyone is back or about to be back to the "real world". That sure was a perfect cruise. The weather was great, the seas were calm. It was just perfect.
It was very nice meeting some of you in the Promnade Lounge and bumping into you here and there. René and I closed a couple of the on board bars. I had a great time Laura, and no he was absolutely not keeping me from my family, since every night I arrived back in my suite they were all sleeping, except for my DS who I usually met getting in the same time as me.
I booked another cruise while on the ship. I booked August 13, but actually plan on doing something in 2011. I just wanted the 10% off on the ship.
Our pre stay at Tree House was fantastic. What a cool resort! Equally cool was our stay at Kidani Village after the cruise.
Well, it's only 310 days to our July trip at BLT! Can't wait...

We're home too, back to reality! We had a fantastic trip. We loved CBR before the cruise and the cruise itself was awesome!!! We will definitely be doing that again. Sorry, we didn't make it to the promenade lounge - we got to the ship at 2:00. By the time we checked in and got something to eat, we missed everyone.
Thanks for the all of the cool fish extender gifts! The kids loved checking it every night! They especially loved the hats from Canada!!!
We brought home another souvenir - swine flu. We got off the ship Thurs morning and flew home that afternoon. Friday afternoon my son had a fever of 104.5. We took him to the doctor and sure enough, he tested positive for swine flu. And naturally my daughter had the same thing on Sat. The doctor said the incubation period is 2 - 6 days so we picked it up either at WDW or on the ship. Big bummer. But, at least they waited til we got home to get sick! They're much better today and will probably go to school tomorrow!
Hope everyone had safe travels home!
PS - the kids don't have much appetite tonight so we're having LL Bean pancakes!!!

We made it home after midnight last night from our post cruise WDW stay. It was almost 3:00 by the time we made it on the ship, and we were all hungry, so we went to get lunch before the buffet closed. We were sorry to miss the meet! We did get to meet Karen and her husband at the DVC member "party" - and I won a $100 OBC!! We all had a blast on the cruise and can't wait to plan another one. Thanks to all for the FE gifts - the kids were very excited to find their surprises, and we can't wait to sample the goodies left for us. Sorry if there was any confusion over our stateroom number - when we checked in at the airport they gave me a different room than what I had originally been given.
Maggie - sorry to hear about the flu. I hope everyone gets better soon!Jason told me Saturday that thought he was getting strep throat, but luckily it turned out to be just a cold.
Now we are in back to school mode :teacher:- the boys go back on Thursday.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful FE gifts. The kids loved finding suprises (as did the adults :)). They are still playing with everything!!
It was great to meet all of you! Magchavez, sorry we missed you...hope you enjoyed those pancakes and that everyone feels better really soon!!!
To copy Coach Rick...that cruise was awesome!! We are already thinking about our next cruise...sometime in 2011. I couldn't get over all the events available and we LOVED Castaway Cay!!!
MandyMouse-missed you at the lounge, but you looked like you were so comfortable in your chair! We saw you at Palo with your DH and saw Kerry and Becky around the ship, too. Hope you had a great vacation!
I will be writing a pre-trip report at some point, I think, just to help with the post Cruise/Trip blues.
Thanks again!!!

We also wanted to thanks everyone for the wonderful fe gifts! The boys loved coming back to the cabin to see all of the fun surprises that were left for them. :wizard:
Since we have been back, I have been frantically busy getting my classroom ready for back to school night, which I just had tonight! :teacher: I think that it went well. Phew, I'm glad that it's over, though.... I'm exhausted!
I still have to o back to school the rest of this week for meetings. The kids start on Monday - not sure I'm quite ready for that yet!
What I am ready for is another Disney cruise.... sure wish I could put another ticker on my siggie!!!

I just posted on the main cruise board about the pricing for the next cruise. Can you imagine, the same exact room (Cat 3) one year from now would cost $2200 more than it was this year! How can they justify that? I have sent clients on 7 day cruises that didn't cost $2200 for two people.

Hi everyone!
Sorry that I haven't posted since we have been back. I have been a little under the weather, since I found out that I am pregnant. I have had morning sickness and have been really tired. I am only 8 1/2 weeks, so I am not that far along, but have had an ultrasound and got to see the baby's heartbeat and everything looked alright.
Anyways, I want to thank everyone too for the FE gifts. The kids really enjoyed finding goodies in their FE and we all really enjoyed our gifts. It was also nice meeting many of you. The cruise went way too fast. We sure had a good time. We have a cruise planned for next Oct. for a 7 night cruise on over Halloween in 2010. We have never been on a 7night cruise before so it should be fun!
I hope all of you had fun on the cruise, as well as WDW if you went there.
Maggie, I am so sorry that your kids got the swine flu while they were on vacation. I hope that they are feeling better now. The swine flu thing scares me especially since the kids are going to be going back to school tomorrow. Plus, being pregnant it makes me a little nervous too. Hopefully we won't have to worry about it!But if one of us gets it, hopefully it will be a mild case.
Take Care!

:yay:Glad everyone got home safely, if not a little worse for wear from Swine Flu!!! I hope your family is well, Maggie.
And Vicki! Your news is so exciting. Congratulations! Imagine your wee one is already a cruiser! When you go on the 7 day cruise you'll be using Flounders nursery for sure.
We arrived back in Ottawa on August 27th. The cruise was the start of our vacation and we followed The Wonder with some days at Disneys Vero Beach. The boys loved the beach, especially the rip tide! Some fun was had fishing and digging sea turtle nests (with folks from Animal Kingdom). We then stayed at WDW and enjoyed shopping, visits to Orlando landmarks (Ripleys, Titanic) and a day at the Magic Kingdom.
Twelve days without a nap for mummy. Phew!
We didn't have a moment to unpack or get groceries in the house after flying home. Both boys were three days late to start high school, and René and I were back to work!
I have started the scrapbook. How about you, Karen?
Thanks to all for making our first cruise so wonderful. Rick, you are René's new best friend. You win for best pirate costumes; we loved meeting a family with such Disney spirit! Karen, John, Kaylee and Colby, thanks for sharing 50 points in the Mickey Mania trivia. Danick thought it was fun to was fun to connect with Colby before the cruise, too. And for all our fellow Cruise-O-Maniacs, thanks for the Fish Extender items. The boys were thrilled to find the goodies - the key chains are dangling from backpacks, the candies and chocolate have been gobbled, and the pirate items well used on Pirate night. Rene and I appreciated the grown up gifts from emergency kits (safety pins to reinforce my fish extender, bandaids for René's blisters) to the special treats - spices, jams and pancake mix that will spark our memories when we enjoy them at home. Thanks so much!!!
I'm dreaming about another cruise, and checking out the Castaway Cay Club on the cruise line site. The Disney folks say new info comes out this week. We're hoping to swing a 7 or 8 day cruise from Dover to Barcelona in 2011. Maybe you'll join us?
