My dh just started having an allergic reaction and is on his way to the er right now. I cannot leave until I find someone to come sit with the children. I am scared, I am frustrated, I am alone. Please send me some love and strength if you are up right now. He noticed the hives about ten, stripped down and drank a ton of water, took some benadryl, dressed in different clothes and left.

I have since checked all the kids twice and noone has bumps or welts, but I am so scared...my anxiety level is getting higher by the second

Well, he is still there. I am still here. My dd is throwing up. But no rash. I am really upset about it all.

Did you eat somewhere new? Cook something different?

Hang in there! I know how hard it is to not be close to family and not have help with the kids.
Prayers and Hugs!

It's 2am now and he is being "seen" by skin specialist. Appears to be a temperature reaction more so than a food allergy. Waiting on final word.

Interesting...

I just saw this this morning.. hugs on a tough night...

I do get hives from reactions to hot and cold.......I get hives when I go to the gym and work out..

I now take 20 mgs of Zyrtec.. no more hives.. ever.. thank God.. they were awful and it was a temperature thing..

Hope he is ok..

Prayers for you all. How is he and your dd doing? Hopefully today will be better.
I also get temp related hives and live on Zyrtec. It took almost a year for the drs to discover it was related to the heat and almost that long for the insurance to pay for the zyrtec (before it was OTC). Love the zyrtec and I love the fact that it is OTC now.

Today the hives have gone down to his wrist and in splotches around his abdomen and lower back. He has been taking benadryl and using a clear gel they gave him last night...but I'm going to ask him to try zyrtec. I don't think it could it hurt at this point. And my dd is better, I think she felt my anxiety and just got herself worked up.
I'm still not done worrying about what caused it and if any of us will get it too. Thanks for the support! DISboard friends are the best.

One more thought.. you are sure they are hives, right?

Just thinking out loud since I know that I just did battle with shingles which I thought were hives......they are raised welts, but they do blister and then sort of scab over like chicken pox, which is around right now....I think you would know the difference..

You can buy Zyrtec otc, 20 mg, I would call the doctor and ask about it.. When I would get hives, I would get them for a short period of time....this has been going on for a few days, right?

Yes, thursday evening he was outside talking to a neighbor, about two hours later he said I think I got bit. We put some calamine on the bump and went on about our day. He went to get dressed for bed and pulled meinthe bathroom to see that he was welted, and red. Then yesterday they spread, and today they have headed south around the waistband and lower. He is itching but not in misery, they still look like a rash, or a grouping of bug bites that ran toghether were circled in red and puffed up a little. He is planning on going back to the doctor Monday if it is still there.
