We booked our cruise last month and Grammy & Pa just booked theirs this past week. So, we will have DH, myself, DS (14) & DD (11), DGM (very young 72), & DGF (75).
We've cruised once before on DCL - about 5 yrs ago - so we are really excited about this trip. Only a 3-nighter before so this is a bump up for us.
Should be fun to see how long this meet thread gets! popcorn::

Well, Welcome Aboard! Your family will have a wonderful time on your trip!
If you have any questions about your upcoming cruise, don't hesitate to ask!
Will your DS join in the teen activities? Our boys are still in contact with some of the kids from their July 08 cruise.
Nice meeting you:)

DS would love to do some of the teen stuff. He's been reading my Passporter Guide and remarking on what's available to him. It always helps to have someone show you the ropes if your guys are up to it.
Sad to say, DD is jealous as she did not really like the kid activities before. Of course, she is older now so maybe it'll be fun for her this time around. Just have to see.
DH just sprung a Feb 18-22 trip to WDW on me the other night so looks like we will get to see the Troop in Orlando as well as the cruise. Thank heavens for business trips!
We'll look forward to seeing how many folks join this cruise meet.

Great!! The teens meet on the first night to go over the rules and play ice breakers. I always tell everyone that meeting other kids from other places and learning something about them is the whole point of taking the cruise in the first place. Where we live is pretty isolated so they can get some "culture" from other kids on the ship.:lmao:
they both parasailed last year and enjoyed it.
In the older kids club, there are computers, a wii and arts and crafts type things. Sometimes they will go to the upper deck to play games as well. Hopefully your daughter will meet some nice kids as well. Our DS will be 9 by time of the cruise and he is happy to play there with new friends.
He would like to parasail with DH on this cruise and I may go as well.
Bet you are looking forward to a winter trip. sounds like fun.
Have a great day:)

I'm sure they would correspond if I could get them to stand still...lol..they are always doing something. Your granddaughter will have a blast in the teen club. Ours have had so much fun and met great kids.

Oh we are sooo excited to go on our cruise. I'd flown with the boys into Denver's airport last night after a 2 hour delay in California and we got stranded and couldnt make the drive all the way home with below zero temperatures, snow and no visiblity with heavy fog. After we'd driven about an hour towards home I told the boys I couldnt go any further on country roads (they are never plowed) so at midnite I decided we were staying in the only town out there overnight. It was minus 17 when we started out this morning for our 2 hours to home. My youngest was sad because daddy was on-call and couldnt make the trip out west with us...he kept saying..."will we make it home for Christmas Eve??"
We have some family in the Las Vegas and Mesquite area of Nevada. Bet the snow was beautiful Mickie! We really don't have a white Christmas this year, just below zero temps.
Happy Holidays!:yay:

So sorry to hear of the trouble you had getting home for Christmas. At least you made it safely. We had a really nice Christmas in Ventura with our granddaughter Taylor and her parents and my other daughter. We arrived home today. Of course the snow is all gone and it is a bit chilly. Nothing as cold as it is by you (burrrrrr). I bet you are definitely looking forward to the warm waters of our cruise.:woohoo:
Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year!

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has taken the Disney excursion to the Atlantis water park. Is it really worth the $180? What other excursion would you recommend at Nassau. When we went in 2005 they had a beach excursion to the Blue Lagoon but I see it is no longer offered. Any suggestions?
lakerz5
01-16-2009, 05:43 PM
We have not done an Atlantis excursion. Last July's cruise we just got off the boat and walked to the Hard Rock Cafe. We had a great lunch and purchased t-shirts and gifts, then walked around a bit and went back to the ship.
We might try to do the Dolphin swim on our own this year. There are tons of discussions if you search the cruise forum for Atlantis. Some felt is was really a great excursion so you might want to check out the discussion threads.
Have a great weekend!

Mari,
Thanks for the info. I did do some checking on the boards and got some ideas.
Don't know how your weather has been but here we have been in the high 60's and low 70's. I am feeling really bad for all those people suffering with the low temps. Told my husband we should be sending them some of our warmer weather. It seems more like spring here instead of January.
Since I can't wait for our cruise in July I am taking a cruise for 7 days to the Mexican Riviera on NCL (I know it is not Disney but got a GREAT price $499 obstructed oceanview) the 7th of March. :cheer2:
Hope we will get some more people on our board going on July 12th. I was thinking maybe it is just too soon. What do you think?
Going to see Taylor next week.princess: She is going to have a "Disney Dream Sixteen Party".
Enjoy the week!

Mickie,
Glad to see you checked out the boards for answers..they are such a great resource!
We have really varied weather...the temps can drop 50 to 60 degrees from one day to the next. We were having below zero temps, then the next day it rose to the 50's...so it was like "bathing suit weather to us"..currently it is again in the 40's and 50's with such a lack of snow...our youngest received a beautiful sled, but there hasn't been enough snow to tow him behind the ATV.
About our meet board...on our last cruise, I didn't even introduce myself until the end of May although I had read about it a bit before joining in. I don't believe it even began until after the start of the year.
I really think it is a great way to "get acquainted" although. We participated in the fish exchange, but we did not meet everyone on the meet board. One of the families..we met in a shop since her daughter had an unusual first name and her mom called her from another part of the store...other than that most of our chat was on this board. The kids all met up at the their activities the first evening as well.
So..I think there may be people reading our meet board before jumping in to introduce themselves which is fine. :) since I did the same thing:flower3:
It will be fun to see who visits our meet forum next!:)
Congrats on your Spring Cruise Mickie and Happy Birthday Sweet 16 to Taylor as well:flower3:

Hi Mari,
Enjoyed your note. It sounds as though you too are having crazy winter weather. Sorry your son has not been able to enjoy his new sled. A sled behind an ATV sure does sound like loads of fun. :cool1: Hope some snow heads your way so he gets to use it.
When we went on our 4 day cruise in April 03 we did not go on the boards. In June 05 we went on the West coast 7 day cruise. We then joined the boards. My daughter reminded me we did not go on until a couple months before we left so maybe I am on quite early for this one. We did have a large group on that board. It was a lot of fun all of us giving our gifts each day. We did not have fish extenders then. We just put them in the baskets in the doors. The FE's are ever so cute though. From what I read there will be another teenage boy going the same time. Taylor is looking forward to meeting everyone in the teen club.:wave2:

Greetings from the snowed-in NE/WY border! I have not done the water slides at Atlantis but there are a ton of threads to search through on the Disney Cruise Line forum regarding doing Atlantis on your own, booking a day room through Atlantis or booking a day room through the Comfort Suites and getting your wrist bands for the water park that way. DCL has an excursion to Atlantis, but I'm not sure if it is more of a tour than tickets to the water slides.
We walked to the Hard Rock Cafe and had lunch and bought t-shirts and souveniers in their shop..that was it for our time in Nassau. Our first cruise no one wanted to get off the boat when we docked there.
I would like to look into doing the dolphin swim on our own. this time in Nassau...again I got all my info from the main cruise line forum just searching..DCL looks to have an encounter with dolphins but not a swim.
My 2 oldest boys parasailed last year..we had 2 CC days on a double dip cruise..My youngest enjoyed the stingray swim, but it the water was clearer on our first cruise. We could hardly see the stringrays swimming around CC on our recent July cruise. We rode bikes which got us to see another part of the island and ended at a lookout tower which was great for picture taking. Our oldest at 16 is able to do the waverunners this time, so we will sign him up.

What are fish extenders?:confused3 I keep seeing people mention them but I have no idea what they are.
Fish Extenders are fabric with pockets that hang from the metal fish outside your door. DCL uses the metal fish to place notices for your cabin..for example, your 16 year old will get an invite to the info session in the teen club the first night.
Fish externders are hung from the metal fish for you to put messages for your family or for bringing small items if you decide to participate in the fish extender exchange.
On our first Wonder Cruise, I didn't even know about the boards so I didnt know about the fish extenders or FE's, but on our 2nd cruise last summer we got involved with our meet and participated. We placed small items every night, but some just give 1 thing on one night. Examples are postcards, small candy, glow bracelets, etc. There is a lot of info on the main cruise line board. The exchange is not a big deal. There was a newlywed couple who was on our meet board that was more stressed than anything over the whole thing. It is just not a really big deal...and little stuff is the best.
Since we live in the boonies on the NE/WY border we try to give other people a sense of where we live. We have some pretty funny things that go on in this isolated, rural town so I "go" with that. We moved here 6 years ago from CA and something will go on here that I think..."only in Nebraska.....:confused3 "...my fish extender gift will always have a little tale I find humorous for rural life.:)
I purchased my FE on ebay, but it can be very simple..there are many threads on the DCL cruise boards discussing the whole FE idea plus what they look like
hope that helps:)

Interesting we went to Yellowstone last year passed thru NE,::yes:: and WY:) ,last year was the first year we didnt do Disney.:guilty: This is only our second cruise we went July 12th 07, looks like we just missed you.:goodvibes ha We have however been to Disney World 32 :thumbsup2 times, we just love the magic, great place to feel like a kid again.:p ha
I'm counting the days, to be on Castaway Cay again, my parents are going this time and i can't wait for them to see how beautiful it is.
Thanx for the info on the FE's it sounds like fun. You talk about things only happening in your small town i feel the same way. Are you staying at a Disney Resort after the cruise? We really like the Wilderness Loge :cool1: where we have stayed the last 3 years , but we r going to do pop century this time since we have a small group :grouphug: and wanted to keep expenses down.
Have you heard anything about us possibly getting a ship board credit for the fuel surcharge if the price of oil stays under $70?

Oh you will have a great time and CC is very beautiful!!!
We too try to stay economically..the last 2 times we were at the Nick hotel for a couple of days prior for free due to the points from DH working out of town with all his hotel stays. This time we will stay at Nick for free, but then go to Sheraton Vistana Villages for 2 nights not for free, but very inexpensive due to a great rate on redweek.com. With 3 boys, we need 2 bedrooms and they have a washer/dryer, kitchen, etc. We will fly out the day our cruise ends.
I have heard rumblings about a fuel surcharge credit. RCL has done away with theirs and has given the refund as an on board credit. That would be great if we could all benefit:)
it is great the girls have started to chat:thumbsup2
have a great week!:)

Mari,
Hi, how have you been? Are you getting excited about the cruise? I sure am. I was wondering if you had any ideas about whether we were going to do any gift exchanging (fish extenders). We did on our last two cruises and was just wondering what you thought.
Hopefully the weather has started to get a bit warmer where you are and you are not suffering from the extreme cold. We are still in the 60's. I will be leaving in two weeks for my cruise to Mexico. There have been quite a few storms in California and the Baja peninsula so hope they are all over by the time I leave.
Have a great week!

Lucky you to get to go on a cruise shortly!!!! Let us know what a great time you have:)
Yes, a FE exchange would be great! How did it work on your previous cruises??
On our last summer cruise, some gave small things daily and others gave just once. Anything is fine with us..just fun to see the "flavor" of other areas..and where we live is soooo remote. It's great for the kids to learn about other areas.
closer to our cruise one gal just posted the room numbers for the FE and if that was uncomfortable for anyone on a public posting, a private message is just fine as well...I think this living in the boonies for the past 6 years has made me more..."whatever works for whoever...no stress"
:lmao:
enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Here is a couple of tips for you.... we used an over the door shoe holder for our last cruise and it worked great. The pockets hung on the outside of the bathroom door and each space held the kids swim goggles, sun tan lotions and lip balms, extra shoes that didnt fit on the floor of the closet and other personal items. The other tip we used was getting small, hooks to put on the bathroom walls that stuck with a peel off adhesive. Those hung bathing suits or items I had handwashed . I did bring extra plastic hangers and even asked the room steward for more so that there was less wrinkling.
Also we found the room service breakfast card in our dresser drawer and used it at least once. We didn't see it on our first cruise until the last night.
What are the ages traveling with you???:)

Hello to All on the 07/12 Wonder Cruise!
Mari: Sorry for my delayed response. I have been catching up on the latest trip reports and some of those are very long! Within our party of thirteen there are four children ages three to seven - two boys, two girls. The remaining eleven members are all adults - ages 65 to 30. On vacations, it usually takes all 11 adults look after four kids, but hopefully they will join up with the Oceanneer Club! Thanks for the tips of the over-the-door shoe pockets. That idea is ingenious.
Hoping to hear from other travelers! Thanks for your travel tips and ideas.princess:

I am really excited about the cruise. Really hoping we will still get to go. I had a great time on my cruise to Mexico but on my last day I developed swelling in my leg and I kinda of knew what was going on. I had already had two blood clots before and when i went to the emergency room when I got home to Vegas that what it was. Don't know if the doctor will let me fly across country. Will see him again next week and maybe he will give me his decision. I would hate to disappoint my granddaughter. I too would be so sad not to have this special time with her. My friends I am in need of some pixie dustpixiedust: then maybe the doctor will say OK:yay:

Oh..you will have so much fun. the first year we cruised, our youngest was 7 years old. We are so glad he had the opportunity to go to that kids club. He played "pirate" and cimbed all over this big pirate ship and slid down the slide, etc. We were late seating that cruise and he was so concerned that he would miss the kids club pirate party that my DH had him hurry with his dinner then take him over. The little girls found a chest of dress up clothes in the club and wore princess outfits. That age group was just adorable! Age wise will all the kids be in the same kids club group?? That would be great for them. Your adults may have more trouble looking up the activities and getting them to the club for the things they want to do..than having to look after them in person..They will have a great time:) and you too!

Mari: Thanks for the pixie dustpixiedust: Can't wait to see the doctor. I am hoping for the good word.:cheer2: Since final payment is due on the 13th hoping for the best.
Verhunny: Sorry I haven't given you the BIG WELCOME. I know you are going to have a FABULOUS :woohoo: time. This will be my granddaughter's and my third Disney cruise. I can't think of anything more fun. If I can help with any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Looking forward (hopefully) to meeting all the 7/12 cruisers!!:grouphug:

Mari,
Thanks for the pixie dust. pixiedust: It worked. I received great news from the doctor. He said I can absolutely go on the trip.:cheer2: I just need to make sure I walk up and down the plane every half hour and wiggle my feet when sitting in my seat. I am so excited.
Taylor came for a visit for two days and we spent some time talking about the cruise. Can't hardly wait. Just think only three months.:yay:
Are you and your family getting excited or just trying to get through the school year?
How about the rest of our July 12th cruisers? Are you all getting excited or just too busy to think about it yet.

I am soooooo happy for you...hooray for a sensible MD. I will call ahead to your stewardess and make sure she walks you up and down the aisle of your plane every 30 minutes on the dot!
Can't wait to book some excursions on the 13th!!!!

Mari,
Thanks for your idea of speaking to the stewardess. At my age you know I could become very forgetful:rotfl2: I am sure Taylor will keep me in line though. She knows how important this is.
What excursions have you guys thought about doing? I talked to Taylor and she just wasn't sure. She thought she would wait until we got on the ship to see what everyone was planning. Guess she really didn't want to go if everyone else was staying on board.
Sorry to see some of our cruisers have stopped writing on the board including one of the teens. Hope they haven't gotten bored with us already.:confused3
My husband and I went out to the lake today fishing. The weather was so beautiful in the low 80's. We have had so much wind lately it was nice to have a calm sunny day. How has the weather been by you? Has spring finally sprung?:flower3:
lakerz5
04-08-2009, 12:52 PM
Well its actually sunny and yesterday was in the 60's...after our weekend blizzard...
Since the oldest is 16 now, he would like to try the waverunners..there is some type of tour they go on. My DH, my youngest and I will try for parasailing. Our 2 older boys did that last cruise and had a great time.
I will encourage the 2 older boys to go on the bike tour with the teen group. My DH and I with our youngest were taking a bike ride and saw the teens in a group riding around, so I will encourage them to do that.
We didn't do a Palo brunch last cruise, but we would like to do that this time. On our first cruise we had the oldest take the other 2 to a movie during our brunch and right in the middle of our brunch are these 3 boys of ours knocking on our window.....:rotfl2: so much for a brunch alone with my DH. Our oldest didn't know what to do with his brothers after the movie...we are like....what??????? go swim...have a snack...etc...:rotfl2:

Hi Everyone,
Hope your weekend is going good and want to wish everyone HAPPY EASTER!
I was wondering if anyone (Teens) were going to book the teen"Wild Side Excursion" at Castaway Cay. It is 4 hrs and includes snorkeling, kayaking and the bike ride. Mari, have any of yours done it before. I think Taylor might like it although not sure about the snorkeling. She has done kayaking. Do you think 4 hrs might cut into beach time? Let me know what you think. Surprised we have not heard from anyone else since we are so close to our 90 days. Will make my Palo brunch reservation on Monday. Getting so excited.
Come on cruisers for July 12th LET'S HEAR FROM YOU!!!!!:cheer2:

Happy Belated Easter to you too!:)
I booked at 10pm MDT to get our excursions/palo booked last night. Got a Palo brunch and parasailing for DS 9 and DH and I and a dolphin excursion in Nassau.
The boys didn't do the teen excursion, but that must of been what we saw last year when we saw a teen group biking around. DS 16 and DS 14 think it is too long of a commitment. Sounds like a boy, huh??
DS16 is peeved that although he is 16 and is old enough to drive the waverunner that one of us adults has to be on the excursion as well even though the waverunners for this excursion are single riders. He thinks that is lame and wouldn't be as fun with mom or dad part of the pack so he is passing. It's a shame since he looked forward to it since last cruise...oh well:confused3
Let me know what you've booked! Are you late or early seating for dinners?
Mari:)

Hi Mari
Made my Palo brunch reservation for 11:00 a.m. Taylor was worried about my being alone but I am used to and enjoy my private time as my husband never travels with me.
I did not make any excursion reservations as Taylor didn't seem to want to do anything. I think she is waiting to see what is happening on ship. I am really sorry to hear Spencer won't be able to go on the waverunner. :sad1: I don't know how an adult can be with him if the runner is only for one???:confused3
We have late dinner seating. I would have preferred early but that is all they had. What do you guys have? What do you think is the best? We have always had early. How does late affect the shows?
I wonder if KJCool and her family, AmyLoves Disney and Verhunny are still going. No word on the boards from them.
I'M SO EXCITED:woohoo::woohoo:
lakerz5
04-15-2009, 10:58 PM
Glad to hear you got a Palo brunch as well:)
The whole thing for the waverunners is that they wanted either DH or me on a waverunner by ourselves and then DS 16 on his own...I wonder if it it had something to do with him being a minor still and that one of us was still on the excursion with him. Oh well!!!:confused3
Taylor will be fine just hanging out at the teen beach. There will be plenty of kids out there hanging out.
We have early dinner, but it is really a trade-off. When we had late dinner, there were teen things that the boys wanted to do, but when we had early dinner, we had to be there..well...early! So it was getting off the beach or out of the pool and getting everyone ready for dinner early. So...there are pros and cons to each.
Can't wait!
Mari:)
Can't wait til then

Hey everybody. I know it's been awhile, but you know how life can get. I'll be writing on behalf of myself and mom.
Mickie I was so freaked to hear you and Taylor might not be going, I'm glad everything worked out and you all are still on board and you're ok.:)
Mari, like your boys I'm not planning on the teen excursion. Right now mom is planning on only one excursion and it's the Atlantis beach day. That could change... lol I can be pretty persuasive...lol
Mom asked my Granny to get us the early seating...(it's pretty convenient having a travel agent in the family,lol).. as far as I know that's what we have.
Mom has also been debating the Palo brunch as well, she really can't get my grandparents to go or anyone else in our group either.
Mom also has been bugging me about asking you all about fish extenders. She wants to know if we are doing them are not. She thinks they sound really cute and would do them if anyone else would. She just wants some advance notice.:)
Well, I'll be getting off for now.
Mickie tell Taylor I said hi and Mari tell Spencer too.
I can't believe it, only a month left of school and 3 more months til the cruise!

Yes! we are in for the fish extenders!!:cool1:
Our FE was difficult to receive. The gal we ordered from went on vacation right before our cruise and ended up mailing the package to the ship. We were sure that we weren't going to receive it, but we did......so I'd love to use it again. I think even if the group was not doing FE's, I'd hang it anyway:)
You were lucky to receive your early seating. I'm sure travel agent connections are invaluable in getting what you want. :). Who knows, perhaps we will be in the same dining rotation and we will wave to your group! Last cruise our Dis Meet group was in the early rotation for dining, but scattered in the different restaurants.
Spencer(14) and Terrence(16) say hello as well! They can't wait to get out of school May 21st:cool1:

Lisa
This is what we did for last year's cruise...
I purchased our FE from ebay. If you search fish extenders on ebay, several sellers showing what they sell are on there. We purchased from Grady's mom and I believe she was out of the east coast. Ours is a blue background with Mickey heads ( a Minnie head for mine) and the kids picked out what colors, etc. We just simply ordered ours too late for her however. I believe it was a month to go and 2 weeks before our cruise, she posted a notice that they were going camping for a week at the beginning of July:scared1:
Well we were leaving for FL a couple of days early and I knew she wouldn't finish it so....she had it shipped to the ship and we received it from housekeeping our first night.
We knew we were planning another cruise for this year so we'd use it again, but there is a thread on the Disney Cruise Line board that shows pics of what people made. Since we will probably not do another cruise on DCL, I will give it to Spencer who loves Disney. He could hang it on his wall.....
Since we live in the boonies and in a state most people will never visit, I put in little things that are about rural prairie life and things you wouldnt know about unless you lived here.( I have told Spencer time and again that we do not live in a barren wasteland:rotfl2: and so what if he is the only kid in his junior high that knows how to break dance?...:rotfl2:)
One small item comes from the other end of the state and I don't think too many people know that it was "founded" here
There is one item that comes from CA where we used to live just bc we know the owners of this "candy factory" ;). There were some in our FE group that just gave once and others put a little something every evening. One overseas family gave snacks that they eat which were fun.
The teens used the FE to send each other notes like...meet at the karaoke place at 10pm...my mom is MAKING me do karaoke...
But again...anything little..don't think too much about it:)

Hi Everyone,
I too am excited about doing the fish extenders. My friend who is very crafty (I am not) offered to make mine for me. I can't wait to see it. Whatever it looks like will certainly be better than what I could have done!! How many of us and what ages are there going to be?
Mari: I was reading the boards and read about you wearing one of your sorority dresses for formal night. Would love to see one of the photos. I am 62 and believe me would NEVER fit into anything from my high school days (didn't go to college). Send us a photo! Will your boys dress up?
Gosh the boys get out of school early. Taylor doesn't get out until mid June.
Can't wait to meet everyone on our cruise.:woohoo:

oh those sorority formal dresses were worn on a Princess Cruise formal night when I was 26 or 27:lmao:.... and a tall bean pole at that. There would be no way in my 40's I could slither into anything that shiny or sparkly. Those pictures from the early 90's wouldnt even look like us. I think my DH was wearing some tux with a pattened tropical tie:laughing:..ugh at least there were no ruffles!
The last 2 semi-formal nights on cruises I wore a short black dress thank goodness...:)
Our boys will be the same ages when we cruise...they are all late summer/fall bdays
The boys will wear khaki pants and polo shirts to dinner..easiest to pack
Can't wait to cruise!

Mari,
Sorry won't be able to see the beautiful dresses. What really sounds great would have been if your husband had worn the "ruffled shirt":rotfl2: I do believe my husband might have worn one of those to one of our proms.
You know with the airlines putting limits on luggage it is getting more difficult to bring formal wear. I don't think people are getting dressed up nearly like they used to. Good thing this is only 4 days and not 7.
Weather here this last week has been in the 90's. It sure is way too early for these temperatures. What is it like by you?
Taylor is going to take her driver's test on Friday. She is pretty nervous. I am more nervous about her getting on those California roads.:scared1:

It is 85 degrees out in the prairie today, but should only be in the 50's by the weekend. Your blast of heat must be traveling west.
That's true about the luggage. With the 5 of us, we bring 4-5 suitcases and one is usually empty, so we can shuffle things and keep under weight limits. Boys are much easier with shorts and t-shirts.
Tell Taylor good luck on her driver's test. The kids out here have to drive 40 miles to be tested on freeway driving.. Also here, a 14 year old can get a "school permit" if they live on the outskirts of town which doesn't take much. Thank goodness we live in town. I wouldnt want my 14 year old driving at all:scared1:
I attended USC and my DH makes me drive when we visit southern CA..the traffic drives him nuts:)

My husband hates driving and even going to California. After growing up there and the moving here he dreads going to all that traffic too. I keep telling him though the traffic here in the last five years is worse than L.A.

Well I don't think USC was as tough to get into when I was there. My sister in law kept telling my niece who is graduating that she was "too intelligent" to attend USC and although she applied there, my sister in law wanted her to go to "more academic schools" like Berkeley or UCLA. With her 4.1 (with AP classes) she was outright rejected from USC and is on the waiting lists for Berkeley and UCLA...I had to laugh..I thought if you had relatives that went to USC it was an ez acceptance.:)
Isn't BYU expensive just since she is out of state??? Pepperdine is one pretty school location in Malibu:thumbsup2
Yes we are in the boonies...Spencer could go on and on about how awful it is out here, but he really doesn't understand the freedom he has here...not much crime,etc...if you ride your bike here and leave it propped up against the wall of a store (outside), it will still be there when you get back...if fact our neighbors left a bike in their front yard for about a month....and I couldnt understand why nobody took it.:confused3
Spencer doesnt have his license yet..he is 14 and we don't live out of city limits or he could. I find watching 8th graders driving to junior high one creepy experience. Terrence got his license right around his 16th birthday

Mari,
There are many days I would like to live in the "boonies". Things have gotten so bad in Vegas. Way too many people, traffic and definitely
crime. :sad1:
Sorry, I thought Spencer was 16. Just a bit confused:confused3 Did not realize it was Terrence. I guess since he has not been on the boards. Taylor passed her driver's test today with 100%. She was really excited!:yay:
Gosh your niece with AP classes and a 4.1 hard to believe she was rejected at USC. What happened to just getting a 4.0. I know Taylor was saying you have to get at least about a 4.2, community service and I don't know what else. Taylor is Mormon so if she attends seminary each school day during high school she will be eligible for minimum tuition which this year was only $6,000. Certainly this was a vast difference from the price of Pepperdine.
Love chatting with you Mari. Can't wait to meet you on the cruise.
Enjoy your weekend.:cool1:

Well try telling Spencer that it is better to live out in the prairie:lmao: He was only 8 when we moved from California, so he still is mourning the departure. He doesn't remember anything negative, but I remember getting really antsy when the kids just turned the corner ( and I couldnt see them) on their bikes in our subdivision.
DH mom lives in Mesquite and likes that. She says it has grown a lot. His aunt and uncle live in Vegas and we used to join them waterskiing at Lake Mead every summer. DH grew up in Barstow of all places, but none of his family members live there any longer.
Congrats to Taylor on her drivers test!!!!!:cool1:
Where I grew up in California it was about evenly 1/3 catholic, 1/3 presbyterian and 1/3 LDS...and I always wondered how those families afforded out of state tuition..so many went to BYU..so that is a great deal. It is very pretty up there!!!!
Our HS does not give extra gpa points for AP classes, so the most one can get is a 4.0. My 16 year old is sitting around a 3.5, so guess he is out of luck for those CA schools unless they want out of state tuition$$$$$$$:rotfl2:
I would love to get Terrence on the boards but he is always too busy...prom is tonite and he is a DJ so he's always booking a dance or having his own in our basement..Taylor will enjoy getting to know both boys:)

When I occasionally saw the girls next door all driving the family suburban at around 12 and 13, I really thought that was nuts:scared1: but I don't think the parents think their kids will get caught. I'm like....to me that is a 5000lb weapon rolling down our lane:eek:
Have you any excursions planned Lisa??
I am very excited for the cruise!!!!! The 2 oldest had their vocal recital yesterday and I have informed them that they WILL be singing at family karaoke:rotfl2: I have done that to them for the last 2 cruises..so Katlyn and Taylor can always meet up with them there those evenings:)
Have a great day!:)

Driving at age 12 and 13. I can't even imagine. I would just about die. I don't know many kids mature enough for that even out in the "boonies".
Wow the boys take vocal lessons. I think that is great. Can't wait to hear them on karaoke night. That will make a FUN evening.:thumbsup2 Terrence sounds like he really is busy with his DJ work. Is he looking forward to the cruise? How about your youngest boy?
When you talked about skiing at Lake Mead it brought back many memories of when our two girls and my husband and myself spent many years skiing and camping on the lake when they were growing up. What great times we had. Now the lake levels are SO LOW you would hardly recognize it. They have had to move all of the docks MANY times. They expect it to go down another 9 feet this summer!
Lisa,
Looking forward to meeting you and your family. Taylor and her family live about two hours from Disneyland and are season passholders :yay:as I am even though I live in Vegas. Like you, we too have been more times than we can count. We have a tradition of going for three days right before Christmas since Taylor was a little baby. I thought Taylor might be too old for this trip but she said this was exactly what she would like for her 16th birthday. I hope she NEVER gets too hold for DISNEY!

Don't forget my mom and dad. They're in a seperate room. My mom has
already picked out her FE on ebay and eveything.:rotfl: We're going with some family friends and they'd like in also.
12 and 13, that's crazy! I wouldn't have gone outside and would have erected a 10 ft high brick wall around my house for protection.:rotfl:
We were planning on the Atlantis Beach Day and then Katlyn was going to snorkle at CC and I was thinking about renting a wave runner.

You live in Vegas? I went about 10 years ago and loved it. We've never been to DL or even to California period, but my mom and Katlyn both want to go.
I wish I could live close enough to get season passes in FL, you and Taylor are sure lucky to have them to DL.
My mom and dad started Katlyn off going to WDW when she was just a baby too and we've gone back every year since. We took Katlyn 2 years ago for her graduation on a Disney cruise and she loved it.
I think that it's impossible to outgrow Disney.:goodvibes I know I'm living proof!:rotfl:

Great!!! we will have 4 rooms so far for the FE exchange :thumbsup2. It will be great:yay:
A beach day sounds great. Terrence wanted to ride a waverunner, but neither my husband or I want to, so he can't ride alone without us on the excursion:confused3
Only a couple more weeks of school left.:cool1: but they just closed the neighboring school district for Mon,Tues,Wed since 1 child MIGHT have the flu virus :confused3
Terrence DJ'd a dance last night...how's this for small town life??...it was at the County Fairgrounds with all teens invited for only $3.00 per person 9 to midnite to support 4H...we wouldn't have ever done that in California. We had between 100 and 200 kids:).
He is hoping the sound system in the teen area on the cruise ship has been fixed. There was something wrong with the speakers last time..
.do the girls enjoy dances?? I know that one night is a blackout dance..and you are supposed to wear white:confused3 because they use black lights, so if the girls are interested, just pack one white top for the night:). both Terrence & Spencer say the dances ae really fun:thumbsup2

Hi Lisa and Mari,
Working on some ideas for gifts for our FE. Let me know if we have more than four rooms. As we get closer maybe we can get the ages of the kids that will be in the rooms.
The last time our family went on the cruise and we were in Nassau we went to the Blue Lagoon Beach and it was really nice. Have any of you been there? I thought Taylor might like to go back.
Wow Terrence must be a great D.J.:cool1: He seems to have a lot of gigs. I will be sure to have Taylor bring a white shirt on the cruise. She loves dances.:dance3: She goes every month to a dance with her friends from church so she should have a great time.
They have not closed any schools here in Nevada but I know they closed a couple in the town right next to Taylor's. Hope they don't close Taylor's as that will just extend the school year. She does not get out of school until around the 18th of June as it is.
Already getting really HOT HOT HOT here. Today was 91 and expecting 98 by Friday. Not ready for this heat already.:sunny:

Hey Mari and Mickie!
We have a case of swine flu not too far away from where we live in KY, but school's still open. Katlyn will still get out of school the 22nd.(fingers crossed lol) I really hope we'll all stay healthy!:thumbsup2
Katlyn loves going to dances but they don't have very many at her school. Prom is usually the only dance they have. The blackout dance sounds really neat.I'll make sure she packs white. :goodvibes
The weather was getting so nice here 65-75 degrees every day for a week with sunshine but now its getting cold and rainy. :scared:Katlyn is pretty disappointed, it means she won't be able to put the top down on her convertible.
Our 2 friends also going do officially want to do the FE with us.:woohoo:
I hope you both have a great swine flu free week!:lmao:

Mickie, We have not been to Blue Lagoon Beach, but we've heard great things about it! Gosh the first time we cruised to Nassau, I could not coax anyone off the boat. Last time we had lunch at Hard Rock and purchased some t-shirts, and this time we will try the Dolphin Encounter. You and Taylor will have fun whatever you choose to do:thumbsup2
Lisa,
Are your friends that want to participate in the FE in one room or more?:)
Terrence's high school just got their first swine flu case. The girl was on a trip to Disneyland with her school DECA group (business/marketing HS organization) when she got it, but she was in a hotel room with 3 other girls and obviously had to take a plane trip back home, but no one else has gotten the bug so far:confused3
So our FE group so far:

Mari,
Wow that swine flu really hits close to home now. I think it will definitely get worse before better. I will say a prayer we all stay well. I work in the health care field and have been pretty worried since I work directly in the mouth (dental hygienist) I must say anyone who sneezes, coughes etc everyone is looking at them. HA
You asked about my friends it's a mother and a older son around 35 traveling with her they are sharing a room.
Have you decided if you are doing on bag of goodies , or putting something in the FE everyday?
I think I'm doing 1 bag but may change mind as things start to accumulate it seems like im picking up something here and there quite a bit.ha
Have a great week and stay well.
Lisa
Mickie,
Have you decided which way you will be doing your goodies? Either one bag or a little each day in FE's?

Hi Lisa and Mari
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
Thank goodness we have not had any cases of the Swine in this area. It doesn't seem as though Taylor area has either. Hopefully all of you will stay well.
Mother's Day was great as Taylor :cutie:and her Mom came up and surprised me. Hope yours were good too.
Lisa I think the first day on a four day trip would be good. Maybe just the first and second would be enough as it might be too hectic all four. I am up for anything. I just think it is so fun to do!:yay: Our cabin number is 7063. How far is that from everyone else?:scratchin
Wow only 63 more days. I remember when I first decided to do this for Taylor it was 8 months ago. It seemed like it was forever! Now it is almost here:woohoo:
Enjoy your week :flower3:and for us we will just try and stay cool (still in the high 90's)

Happy Belated Mother's Day to both of you!!!
The only tough day to participate in the FE is the last night. Everyone is packing up and it might be unlikely that everyones FE will be still hanging beside the door.
The first 2 nights are fine. On pirate night last cruise a young couple without kids put tiny bottles of alcohol in our FE (like the ones you see on an airplane)..we were a little shocked only because...I didn't want anyone to get into that walking down our hallway, so we took them in pronto and emptied them out before the kids even knew what they were:lmao:
Things can get hectic Pirate Night too. Last year I think it was the CC Day, so we weren't even on the ship all day long then had to get pirate-y for dinner. So, don't put too much pressure on yourselves. Whenever is fine;)
One more week of school! Grandparents are here from CA for 8th grade graduation.
Hope you all have a great week!

MICKIE AND MARI,
Hope everyone is still well so far no swine flu.ha Can't believe the cruise is almost here, I'm getting excited. I'm a planner so I'm already making lists getting clothes together already have fish extender stuff, as a matter of fact I've picked up so many little things I got a little bag to put them in because I don't think they will fit in the fish extender so I guess I will hang them on the door knob the first night. I have so much fun doing that kind of stuff. ha Our room number is 2064 my parents is 2066 and I will let you know the other person's soon.
Katlyn's last day of school was May 21st a little longer than usual but if you remember Kentucky got hit with a horrible ice storm at the end of January and they missed 7 days of school due to no electricty.
Hey last time we went on the cruise we bought water and it was quite expensive do you know if i could pack some in a bag or do you think they will take it out??
Hope graduation went great . have a good week.

Hi Mari and Lisa,
Hope your Memorial weekend was nice. We had beautiful weather here and Rod and I spent a quiet weekend.
I am getting so excited about the cruise.:dance3: All of a sudden it seems to be coming upon us faster and faster. I too have made some purchases for our FE and am looking forward to our exchange. Now if I could just have some ages of all our guests. Lisa, I think that would be most of the people in your group. Just probably an idea of the number of adults in each room and then the ages of the kids in each room. Thanks. Mari, I have your info already.
Wow, Katlyn sure does get out of school early (even with the extra week). Taylor does not get out until June 11th. She is counting the days.
Lisa, as far as the water goes, I always bring some bottles of water on board with me. I like to have it in my room. Disney has NO PROBLEM in you bringing beverages (including alcohol) on board. They do prefer you putting it in your carry on. Remember though if you are flying you cannot have it in your carry on. The best thing would be to buy it before you board the ship.
Did either of you pay fuel surcharges in the price of your cruise? I did. If fuel on June 18th was below $70 per barrel we were to get it back in on board credit. Well a couple of months ago it was only $35 per barrel. :yay: I thought WOW it looks like I will get a credit. All of a sudden now it is up to $62. :sad1: How does that happen so fast. I guess there goes my credit.
Everyone have a GREAT WEEK!!! Only 49 more days.:cheer2:

Myself and Katlyn 16 are in one room.
My parents are in the other room
Vina and her son Jon are in the other he is older 36 I think that is it for our group that will be participating.

Welcome new sailors!!!:)
We just returned from Denver Children's Hospital. Spencer had been a surgical patient for years (ear drum problems), but the latest cat scan just showed scar tissue and no problems, so for one more year there won't be anymore surgeries and he can swim....yippee!!!
Lots of families and rooms.:cool1:..McKay is actually 9 instead of 8 (as if it really matters..lol)
Terrence and Spencer both have their you tube videos of singing and guitar solo stuff. If I can get the address, those teen girls on this trip could at least get a glimpse... they won't be tough to find at the terminal..they are both very tall boys..lol
Will our new teen girls be interested in the teen club:confused3
Getting on the FE hunt..remember we are prairie people, but since we live in a state most people will never visit, I have to be extra creative..:thumbsup2 and I have to contradict Spencer's impression that we moved to a vast wasteland from CA 6 years ago:lmao:

Mari: I am so glad all went well for Spencer. As a mother I know how much we worry about our kids so I know it is a relief for you. Sorry about putting McKay (glad I have his name now) as 8 instead of 9.:confused3 I am sure it is a big deal to him. Can't wait for you to find and give us the number for the u tube of the boys. It will be fun to look at it.
Lisa: I am sending "pixie dust"pixiedust:to Katlyn and wishing her luck on her driving test. Taylor was real nervous for hers but she did well, as I am sure Katlyn will. Debbie for sure wants to participate in the FE but I do not know about Jane yet. Lisa, you must STOP shopping........remember the airlines charge extra for additional baggage:rotfl2:
Jane: Did you want to participate in the fish exchange? It will allow Lisa to do some more shopping!!!!:rotfl2:
Who is flying in and who is driving in? Taylor and I will fly in the night before and stay at the Hyatt at the airport. Anyone else coming in the night before?
Can't wait to meet everyone.:yay:
Thanks for the welcomes! Our group has 2 rooms, but since this cruise is somewhat of a last minute surprise for my folks (and since they know nothing of the DIS or having to buy goodies!), only Zane and I will do the FE, so put us down for one room. Just got back from spending the day at DHS for Star Wars Weekends. Zane is a huge star wars fan and was lucky enough to get picked to battle Darth Maul!

Mickie..if it is 80's here..what is it in LV in May/June..is it 100's yet??:)
Well if you want to get a glimpse of Terrence or Spencer, I weasled the address out of my boys on you tube. You have to search tlake280 then pick his Fall for You video that he sang at his spring concert. That's what he will sing at family karaoke on DCL. He sang the other song Beautiful Soul on DCL last year, but you don't have to view that one since it's a year old.
Spencer is playing a guitar solo on the same collection of videos on the Hey Jude video, but you really have to "wade" through his friend singing the vocal solo to get to it. Too bad he can't bring the electric guitar..he'll be sing ing on DCL as well at family karaoke...DH and I tell them...sing once and you can zip out of there.:rolleyes1.you've never seen boys move so fast:lmao:
It might give a glimpse of who these boys are that they will sail with.

There you can get a glimpse of both Spencer (14) playing his guitar..if you can weed through his friend singing the vocal solo of Hey Jude and Terrence has his this year's Spring Concert solo Fall For You (that he will sing on DCL family karaoke) as well as last year's (Beautiful Soul) that he sang at last years Spring Concert and sang on the Wonder at last year's cruise (family karaoke) if you are really, really, really bored:lmao:
How was your driving test???
Mari
I am amazed. I have read over and over in TR's how Palo Brunch ressies are the first to disappear. Since I am late to the party, I expected to have to wait till boarding to try to get one- but when I finally was able to get on and make ressies there were still multiple spots available:cool1:

Oh...to shop and shop....I did try to update the first page of our sailing site..hope it is accurate..let me know if I can change anything for you all:)
Lisa....How did the driving test go???????????:confused3
Welcome! Welcome! new sailors!!!
What a great group:cool1:
Mari
Hi,
Mari.......It looks to me like you got everyone on the FE. I wrote a note on the board here to see if Jane wanted to join but I don't see a reply. Thank you for doing such a great job of keeping us organized. :thanks: I went on you tube and saw the boys. They are great. :cool1: I am so looking forward to hearing them on the ship.
Mari it has not reached the 100's this week.....just the high 90's. Just tooooooo hot!! Just heard on the news we had the hottest May on record.
Lisa......Have you stopped your shopping yet????? When does Katlyn take her driving test? Tell her Taylor does not get out of school until June 11th. She probably will not go on the boards until then.
Jane....Have you decided whether or not you wanted to join the exchange? We would love to have you. Just need to know soon so we can include you in our shopping expeditions!!!!(especially Lisa who can't stop ha ha) Are you listening Lisa???????
Debbie so glad you were able to get your Palo ressie. I wanted to go for dinner there besides brunch. Thought I would like to go on Pirate night. Wish we knew what our rotation was before we boarded.
Leaving for California on the 11th for Taylor's dance recital. Will still keep in touch while I am gone.
Everyone have a good week!:woohoo:

I though about making dinner ressies for the grammy and grandpa but figured they would rather experience all the dining rooms with me and Zane, so brunch was a good option for the three of us. Now, if our GTY would magically turn into a room assignment.....

Debbie....I know you will have a great time at the brunch and your parents will definitely enjoy having dinners with you and Zane in the different dining rooms. Have you ever been on the Disney Cruises? I remember when my daughter and son-in-law took me the first time with them and Taylor. I LOVED being in each of the dining rooms. It was so different than all the other cruises I had been on. I can't wait to enjoy it with Taylor and I. I do know she is a lot older and may want to spend a lot of time with the teens and that is o.k. too.
Just think only 40 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!

Debbie....This will be my third Disney cruise. I am pretty impressed with you. :worship:This is my 13th cruise and I still have not figured out how to do the tickerfactory.com. :confused3 Maybe you could give me some instructions.:teacher:
Mickie,
Not sure if you were serious or not, but this is how I did it. Go to tickerfactory.com and about 3/4 of the way down choose vacation&travel. Next enter date of sail and your ticker title. Next pick a ruler which is the background. Next pick a ticker slider which is the icon that moves down the ruler as you near your date. The next screen will give you a bbcode in a box. Highlight the ENTIRE code, copy it, then come here and paste it in your signature profile. By the way, thank you all for keeping track and organizing all the FE info!!

What a group we have turned out to be:dance3:
Hi, Sorry i haven't been able to get on. Our internet messed up, but it's back :)
Uh, what's the fish exchange? lol.
Since i'm going with two teenagers (lol) Is there anyone going by themselves with teenagers as well? Thanks for all the welcomes, can't wait to go! We are also coming down two nights before the cruise. We're staying at the Boardwalk, coming in Friday night and hitting the parks Saturday :woohoo: :yay:
I'm glad there's more teens on for the girls too. I don't think they want to hang out in the teen place, Nichole doesn't like it lol.
Gotta go for now, talk to you all later :jumping3:

Mickie,
I am so glad I could help a veteran cruiser:rotfl:
Jane,
I'm sure others who have actually cruised before can answer better than I, but for the fish exchange you hang a fish extender or something with pockets on the fish outside your stateroom door, and others in the exchange fill your pockets with small gifts and goodies. You bring goodies to put into everyone elses fish extenders.
Got our room assignments today and found out they are right next door to each other:cool1:

Mickie and Mari,
Katlyn hasn't taken her driving test yet she will this Tues you have to make a appt and they only do it on Tuesday's that's the price you pay living in hicksville usa. ha So send plenty of pixie dust cause I hear the people who give the tests are really picky, we don't have drivers ed here, and I must say I avoid parallel parking at all costs. ha So needless to say I probably wasn't the best teacher, we did however come back to Illinois and my old driver ed teacher from high school has taken her out 2 times and has assured me she is ready we shall see.
I have bought so much junk for the fish extenders I think I may have to ship it to the boat. ha I'm however not buying anymore i promise.
Did I tell you we are coming dwn Sat July 11th and staying at the Radison at port canaveral? We stayed there last cruise and really liked it, after the cruise we are going to go to Disney for 2 days and then fly back home. I can't believe the vacation is almost here I'm getting so excited.
Mari,
did i read correctly you have had tornado problems in your area? Does anyone know if Jane is going in on the fish extenders?

Yes, it is tornado season here. In fact we were watching the Weather Channel this morning and they are stlll showing last week's tornado that was about 15 miles from here.:confused3
Our drivers ed here consists of a night class at the junior college. When they complete that the kids don't have to do a driving test..which makes absolutely no sense to me. They do go out a bit in a driver's ed car, but that's about it.
Good luck to Katlyn for her test!:)

Mari...I was on the weather channel this morning and it looks like you are having some severe weather. They did show the tornado. Hope it was far enough away from you. They did act as though it had just happened.:confused3 Stay safe.
Lisa....Sending pixie dust pixiedust: to Katlyn for her driver's test. Strange how different states do it. In California Taylor's folks had to pay $750 for driving instruction before Taylor could even take the test. She will not be able to have anyone under 18 in the car until she is 18 (great idea) and cannot drive after 11:00 p.m. unless coming home from work. Lots more rules than when I started driving. (Guess that was a long...........time ago).
Glad we are not on our cruise this week. I see the weather in Florida has been awful. Nothing but rain in the Bahamas too. Guess I will have to start praying to the "Sun Gods".
Have a great week everyone!!!
Mickie
Don't start wishing our rain away yet-- it's much needed! We have been in such a drought over the last year. We got over 20 inches of rain in May though, which has been awesome. I agree though, I'd like to see nothin but sun when we're on the cruise:cool2:

I'm the one who needs pixie dust now. ha Hey I was reading some previous posts and they were talking about fish extenders and the items in them getting stolen. I have finished shopping Mickie ha and I definitely don't want my goodies stolen ha Have you had any problems with this in the past?
I can't believe our cruise is in one week I'm getting excited. I usually dont do laundry on the ship but I don't want to take as many clothes this time I got a good tip today about a laundry detergent that is like a dryer sheet wont take up much space wont spill in suit case I'm trying it out today its called 3 in 1. Less space means more room to take home lots of stuff from shopping ha Really I dont like to shop that much I just have a good time buying things for other people.
See You Soon,

Mari hope your not having any bad weather. I have started packing a little here and there, I can't believe the cruise is almost here. Katlyn and I are working on getting a little tan before we go so we dont get burnt to a crisp since my whole family is blonde hair blue eyed and kinda pale we can tan it just takes a bit of work, i usually dont like going to the tanning bed but I'm going to a few times. I saw I think earllier that you and Mickie have rooms higher up on the ship I wish we would have done that however the first cruise we went on it was suggested the lower you are the better the chance you wont get sea sick so we took the advise and we didnt get sick so we chose to play it safe and stay in the same area and I dont like standing on the balcony looking at the water it makes me kinda woozy so I guess were better off where we are at. ha have a great week and hope the weather is great where you are .

NO cruise documents yet...we will be looking...:)
Yea for Katlyn and her driver's license!!!!:cool1:
We have never heard of anything stolen from our FE, but then again..I don't know if we would know or not since we wouldn't exactly know what was given to us or if what we gave was taken or not..
I was only concerned when the tiny bottles of rum were in our FE. It made me uncomfortable that kids (ours or others walking by) could have gotten in to them. So we dumped them out when we saw them. I'm unlucky enough to be allergic to alcohol anyway..makes me a great designated driver:)
We had tornadoes all afternoon Wednesday. I was picking McKay up from piano and the sirens went off. It is the most eerie sound you could ever imagine. The sirens mean that there is a sighted tornado on the ground., but being downtown with taller buildings, you just can't see where the tornado is.
I decided to drive home and it wasn't until we were in a spot where we could see further out unobstructed that we could really see the cone shape of it. McKay was hysterical. Spent most of the afternoon in the basement and at work they throw everyone in the meat locker:scared1: Terrence and Spencer were outside watching for a bit. But when I went out there and there was clearly the counter-clockwise rotation swirling, I made them get in immediately.
Terrence and Spencer last cruise were able to "read" the clouds well enough to get back on board on Castaway Cay day before we had an awful downpour. Of course we werent paying attention. Everyone was waiting in line to get back on the boat and everyone was just drenched. Living out here you just know..if you're paying attention!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Well you would fit in here well with your coloring. I have never seen so many blue eyed blonds in my life in this town.(and we moved from CA). Just next door..all white blond hair with blue eyes cute girls. My two younger are brown haired brown eyed and tan easily. My oldest is fairer like DH side with greenish, bluish eyes and he burns.
Wherever you are on the ship, it is fine. We are only on deck 8 because we have to cram 5 people in room. We may have been better off lower with 2 rooms connecting...:confused3. Since the two older boys come in after the 3 of us are asleep.:)

The shuttle Endeavor has been delayed until July 11th at 7:39pm. So all of you coming in the day before the cruise MAY get a lucky surprise! The view from Cocoa will be awesome for you if it goes up. It has, however, been scrubbed twice this week, so you never know, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all to see it. It's an awesome sight!

Welcome, welcome EJack. Your little one will have a blast in the kids club:cool1: They have dress up clothes and a gigantic pirate slide in their play area. She will meet lots of wonderful kids! My youngest is 9 now, but on our first cruise he was young enough to play in that area and had sooo much fun!!
Nice meeting you!:flower3:
Mari:)
Thanks Mari! We are really looking forward to the trip and hope to meet some of you all on the boat.
Attending is my daughter (Piper - 6), myself (Jack), and girlfriend (Rebekah). We just came up with the cruise idea and booked last week but if we can pull of the FE thing and participate I will let you know.

Cool. I've always wanted to see a launch, I have to tell mom....:goodvibes
Oh, another update I wanted to pass along....
The disney channel "stars" lineup has changed slightly
July 12 to 16, 2009 — Tiffany Thornton (Sonny with a Chance), Doug Brochu (Sonny with a Chance), Roshon Fegan (Camp Rock), Brandon Smith (Sonny with a Chance) and Musical Act Corbin Bleu
I got on the cruise websight and looked it up for funsies. The only person I know is Corbin Bleu ....he's from HSM..... which I've never seen. lol That's a disney crime, I know! It might be a Disney sin but I've never watched High School Musical and don't plan on it!:rotfl::lmao:
I really don't watch much of the disney channel anymore so this really isn't a big deal to me. Mom's friend's little girls think it's really cool the "stars'" are on the cruise and wish they could go. I'll try to get them an autograph.
PS-Mickie and Mari- I haven't wrecked yet!!!:drive::rotfl:lol Seriously, I'm being very careful.
Mickie -wish Taylor good luck for me. I'm sure her recital will be great on Saturday. Have a good visit!:thumbsup2
Mari-Keep the boys away from those funnel clouds!!!:faint:lol I'd hate for them to blow away before the cruise. lol :lmao:I absolutley hate tornadoes. We've had alot of severe weather around here too and I know what it's like. It's been thunderstorm city here for the last week and we just got some sunshine today, hope it lasts. I hope your weather has gotten better as well...

Lisa......I usually like staying lower on the ship too because of motion but deck seven was the only place where they had any inside cabins left midship. Glad to hear you have finally finished shopping. I am like you I love to shop for other people. Looking forward to giving out gifts for our FE.:yay:
Katlyn.......So glad to hear that you are in the safe driving mode. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip on the space shuttle. That would be sooo cool that even though we are staying in Orlando..we would drive there and back that night..
Where would we park???????????????? to watch????????
Thunderstorms again. On Sunday the tornado sirens went off again while we were closing up at work and they really do announce..."attention shoppers...please purchase your items quickly and leave or we have a shelter for you due to the National Weather Service tornado warnings". You've never seen us run down the aisles so fast to get out of the store..no one is putting me in a meat locker:scared1:
so while you all are packing I am making sure my shifts are covered and there is no drama while I'm gone..I got to work today and had the CEO, Store Manager and Regional Grocery Manager waiting for me:rolleyes1.....just let me work pleeeeeze

Where would we park???????????????? to watch????????
You should be able to see the shuttle from Orlando, but if you want to see, hear and feel the shuttle take off, Titusville is my favorite spot. There is a McDonalds at 3835 S Washington Ave in Titusville and right next to it is a fishing pier. The pier is an awesome view point. You need to get there about an hour early and be prepared for a several hour traffic jam getting back to Orlando. Thousands of people show up to watch, especially on a Saturday night! Oh, and if you have internet access be sure to check the status before you drive over http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/home/index.html
Anyway, hope the stress dies down at work for you. We are working hard here with someone on vacation and I'm counting down the days till my own vacation.

How was the recital? what was it ballet? I guess everyone has gotten their cruise documents except my group wonder why? Did you get any info on the fuel surcharge or is oil over $70 I haven't checked. I've started packing getting excited.
Mari
I too am having some stressful days will be so glad for vacation, we are travelling to Indianapolis for a big 2 day dental meeting and have several long days before we travel. We too are hoping for the space shuttle launch to take place on the 11th we are staying at the Radison I wonder if you can see from there if so you guys could come to our hotel and park..You too Mickie and everyone else ha. Stay safe we too are having alot of storms going on going through a thunderstorm right now

Anywhere right along the coast is good - I'm sure the Radison will be a great spot.

I will definitely write down all your tips..it won't really matter if we have traffic..DH will make me drive I'm sure, but I think the whole atmosphere would just be so wonderful to try to see the shuttle..........thanks so much!!!!!!
Even last night...I was having this wonderful sleep and we got this horrific hail, thunderstorm around midnite. Luckily our cars didn't have hail damage, but this AM there was still hail piled up everywhere. Looked like a snow storm. I was running around with towels last night finding places where water was coming in the house under certain doors and we are on a hill:scared1: So I am thinking...ok when we are gone, we will have to have a neighbor look in on our house because all that water on the wood floors would be awful.....
Oh in addition to all these Disney Stars and the possible Shuttle excitement, we are going to try to register for American Idol tryouts with the 16 year old. Not like I mind sitting in some stadium all day. Just think of all the kooky people we will see:lmao:
Can't wait for the weekend. Hope you all have a great one!!!!:flower3:

Hi Everyone,
Mari and Lisa ...........It sounds as though the weather for both of you is pretty bad. Hopefully when we go on our trip you will be able to relax both from the weather and the stressful work. Lounge chairs will await you!!!
Mari....WoW American Idol how exciting for Terrence. :yay: Will that be after the cruise or are you squeezing that in before? No wonder you have not gotten started packing.......work, weather American Idol!
Lisa.....Taylor will have six dances in her recital including ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical. (Thank you for asking.) Thank you for your offer to see the shutttle launch at the Raddison but I think our flight will be in too late. We are staying right in the airport at the Hyatt. Lisa I know your parents are participating in the FE, can you tell me what names they go by. (I thought at one point you called them grammy and grandpa?) Please let me know. Thank you. Sorry to say no fuel refund. Crude oil has gone up over $70 a barrel on June 18th which is the date they go by for our cruise. :sad2: (Darn, I already had my money spent. ha ha)
Debbie.....Is Zane getting excited :woohoo:for the cruise or is he too young?
Everyone stay safe and have a great weekend!
Mari- Sorry about all your bad weather- hope you don't have to worry too much about it while away. I grew up in Colorado and we used to take camping/boating vacations at Lake McConaughy which is ? I believe in your neck of the woods. We had some bad storms there!! Had a thunderstorm here this week and a big beautiful oak fell over in our yard. Luckily no other damage but I'm sad for our tree.
Mickie- I am a bad parent and Zane has no clue when our cruise is. If he had a clue he would be asking every night how much longer:rotfl2: We are going to the beach for a week after the cruise and I think I'm going to tell him we are doing that first and see his surprise when we pull up to the ship!!

Well cool! We are always in Colorado since we live on the border of WY. So, if we aren't in Cheyenne WY visiting the dermatologist..since we don't have one here..we are in Fort Collins (where I took DS16 for a college tour at CSU) and DS14 has been a surgical patient at Denver's Children's for awhile now..his treat is going to PF Chang's in this huge outdoor mall in Loveland.
I've only been east once to Omaha which was some awful 8 hour drive with a time change from our MST to CST. We were trying to catch a choir competition, forgot about the time change and missed the competition completely..oh well. I've heard of that lake, but I think it is like 4 hours away..never been. We stay and travel west.
Your poor tree. I bet it was absolutely beautiful!!!!
Where did you grow up in CO?

You are pretty good being able to keep a surprise from your son. I am not good at that. He will be thrilled I am sure. So sorry to hear about the tree. These storms for you, Mari and Lisa have been AWFUL.
My husband and I had family in Grand Junction and spent time fishing and camping north of Rifle, CO in the White River. We always had so much fun. I know it is southwest so probably not close to you at all.
Mari, Lisa Debbie
We are going camping on Sunday and then it will only be two weeks :yay: until the cruise. I am like a little kid and can't hardly wait. Will start packing when I return home. How about you guys?
Well gas was over $70 a barrel on June 18th (the big deciding date) so I guess I won't be getting my refund on the fuel surcharge I paid....darn:sad1:
Taylor's recital is tomorrow. :dance3: She has been practicing her 6 dances all week. Very tired but I am sure she will do well.
Everyone have a great weekend!!!:grouphug:

That is so crazy.... I grew up in Loveland, graduated from Thompson Valley High School, and from Colorado State University in Fort Collins! I actually went to the first two years of college at Augustana in Sioux Falls SD, then transferred to CSU to graduate. I guess it is a small world after all!

Well Terrence loves CSU! He'll probably be wearing his CSU shirt on the cruise;) Fort Collins is only 2 hours from here while University of Nebraska at Lincoln is 7 hours away with no plane service across the state. So although there is a ridiculous cost for out of state tuition. Boulder and Fort Collins are so much closer to home than the Lincoln and Omaha campuses.
Is Augustana a Lutheran Campus? I swear I walk by a poster for that place for McKay's child care at a church here :confused3

Hi Everyone,
Can you believe we are only 17 days out before our cruise. I am so excited.
I have just returned from a beautiful camping trip and a FABULOUS trip to see Taylor dance at her recital. She was just wonderful. and yes it does take serious dedication. I tried to convince her if there were a talent show on the ship she should enter. Of course, she said NO WAY. :rolleyes1
We too have received our documents and have late seating. We are cabin 7063 Deck 7 inside cabin. Does everyone else have their room numbers? Mari you have done such a good job keeping us posted on the FE maybe you can put the room numbers together.
Now that I am back I must get serious about packing and getting things organized. How is everyone else doing on that front?
Have a great weekend everyone!
We are also late seating, but supposedly wait listed for early. I am one of those last minute packers- can't really get motivated until the night before:) I think I don't like to look at a suitcase that isn't going anywhere RIGHT NOW.....but I am organizing in my head!

Oh you are very welcome:):)
Remembering our hot temperatures in CA (we lived in the central valley)..I find the fascination that some people have here with Arizona really funny. It is the winter destination for a lot of folks here and many kids go to college there as well.
I'm always thinking...but you have to open your car door with a pot holder in the summer and if it's after 9am don't even think about taking your kids to the park or they'll get burns from the slide.
But then again our first winter here, Spencer was dared to stick his tongue to a basketball pole on the playground in below zero temps...you can see where that went.....:rotfl2:
Will take another hour on my day off today to pack another bit of things!
Have a happy week!:)

Mari Thanx for putting the FE's info together. I can't believe its almost time for the cruise, it seems like forever ago that I planned it. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Have we decided if we are meeting at a certain place or not?
Lisa
A lot of groups meet at 3pm at the Promonade Lounge after embarkin, but I will probably forget if we do that.. I run around like a nut unpacking, ironing and fretting over our luggage appearing at our door before first seating:rotfl2:
We are fairly easy to spot in the terminal...3 boys, the 2 oldest are very tall. We met one family in the terminal from the boards, but they had posted a pic on the boards:)
My kids are all over youtube..so they would be easy to spot from the video. We plan on getting to the terminal fairly early. Let me know what you'd like to do:)
We will also be at the terminal early...maybe this would be a good meet time? How about everyone else?

Lisa,
Well we will be in the terminal early and not hard to spot. We are all tall. What time will you be getting to the terminal for check-in???
Also..it is a requirement that my 2 oldest do family karaoke once which is either the first or second night. So, we will be there as well:)

Can you believe it, after all this time we are only eight days away.:yay: I think I have most everything packed. Went through all my paperwork to be sure everything was in order. Called my travel agent about fuel supplement credit (because oil has been well below $70 since the cutoff and also before) she called Disney and they said we would be receiving credit. :cool1: Guess I will wait and see if it is there when we board. Sure hope so.
Taylor and I are staying at the Hyatt at the airport the night before and I understand the bus will pick us up about 9:00 a.m. so we will get to the terminal about 10:15 or 10:30. I have seen Spencer and Terrence on line so should be able to spot them. Hope to see you Mari at the terminal.
Debbie...What does little Zane look like. Would love to see you at the terminal too.
Lisa....Were you going to get there early.
How about you Jane?
Have we decided if we are going to do the exchange just one day or two. I was thinking the first and second night would be best. In the beginning Mari was mentioning that Pirate Night and the last night were a bit hectic. What does everyone think?
Weather in Vegas 109 and humidity 38% Does anyone realize this is the desert! Checked the weather for our trip and looks like thundershowers. Think it is time to speak to the sun gods there. I think they got them mixed up and they came here instead:laughing:
Everyone have a great week. Can't hardly wait!!:dance3:

Hey everyone,
7 days can you believe it? Meeting in the terminal would be great. We too will be getting there early we are staying at the Radisson and are scheduled to be transported over to terminal at 10:30 there are 8 of us total. I plan on putting my FE'S stuff in the first day so I guess if we do first day does that mean Sunday or Monday?
Lisa
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Next week at this time we'll be sailing!! Welcome MrsScooby! I think we will have Zane's small rolling Darth Vader suitcase for our carry on and I'll have a star wars shirt on him- maybe that will help folks spot us at the terminal. I'm hoping to be there around 10 or 10:30 and would love to meet you folks. The weather here near Disney has settled into a nice pattern of hot with afternoon showers- hopefully this will stay in effect with the emphasis on hot with less showers:upsidedow

Well on that first night we embark, not everyone is able to unpack right away, so I would say that the first night/day for FE's would actually be Monday.. if that works for you:)

Hey how will we find all you people?? :confused3
Just look for you in the terminal? But what am I looking for?
I am not sure how describe the three of us - Me (6'4", short brown/blonde hair), Rebekah (5'6" long dark brown hair), Piper (6 YO, 4'1", brown/blonde hair), lugging a few bags and a small blue wheeled cooler).
Anyone else?
Ejack,
Yes, we are planning to try to find each other in the terminal, not sure how successful that will be, but we will try. I and Zane (7) will have a rolling Star Wars/Darth Vader suitcase for a carry on, a yellow backpack and he will have on his Jedi Training Academy t-shirt.

Hi everyone,
Well ready to leave in the morning for Florida!!!
We will be at the terminal early. Taylor is only 5'2" and tiny with brown hair and I am only 5' short brown curly hair heavy set.(total opposites except for height). I will be carrying a Disney Cruise Line Red and Navy Bag. Hope to see and meet some of you at the terminal.

We just wanted to thank all of you for the goodies. We were completely overwhelmed with treats. You all were so thoughtful!!!:flower3:
We did not make it to the terminal til nearly 1pm. We decided to turn in our rental van at Dollar/Thrift and faced a wait of nearly 2 hours waiting for the shuttle van to the port. We were competing with Carnival and RCCL cruisers with a van only holding 7 people.
Lisa introduced herself at one of the clubs. She was just great!!! Their group looked like they were having a great time...we kept checking our watches since the clubs only watched kids til midnight.
I'm glad Terrence and Spencer met Katlyn and Taylor. Both boys said the girls were just wonderful to meet!!!!! Looked like they were all having fun!
We were really surprised to keep running into the Disney Stars in the hallways. They were just kind and gracious to all our kids. We've rebooked again for next July...we will see what happens.
Thanks again to all of you!:)

Mari,
Thank you for the gift bag. Loved all the goodies. It was fun to read the interesting facts about Nebraska. I laughed so hard:rotfl2:over your problems with the credit card company over your trying to make a purchase outside of your small community.
Sorry we did not run into each other the entire time. I was able to meet Spencer. Taylor introduced me to him one day up on deck. I made special attempts to go to the karaoke three nights (not the last one) and Taylor said you were at the last one. Maybe it will have to be on another cruise. Taylor at least got to meet the boys.
Debbie.....Thank you to you and Zane for our goodies. How nice to receive things about the astronauts. Hope Zane enjoyed his cruise and you did too. Did you do any excursions?
EJack....So nice to meet you, your daughter and Rebekkah. Hope you all had as much fun on the cruise as Taylor and I did.

Lisa.....A big thank you:thanks:to you for your gift bag. How fun was it to go through all the goodies that were in our fish extender. Taylor had such a good time with Katlyn. What a lovely young lady. Sure hope her sunburn healed. Did you guys just spend a quiet day on Friday. How was Disneyworld? Hope you had a great time. I returned home to BLISTERING 114 degree heat. Oh to be on the cruise again. I so appreciate you and your family including me in so much. It was very special. Will work on finding a GOOD PRICE for a great cruise in the carribean!!:cool1: Please pass along to your Mom and Dad how much I enjoyed the gift bag but more importantly how much I enjoyed their company. I loved talking and being with both of them.
Hope Vi and Johnny had a good trip back. Tell Vi I have enjoyed some of the great gifts in her bag including the lip balm and toothbrushes. Thank you again Vi and Johnny.
Lisa thank you again to you Katlyn and the rest of your family for helping to makeTaylor and my cruise so special.:cheer2:

Mari,
Thank you so much for the gifts esp liked the interesting facts about Nebraska. I wish i would have been more creative, I will know better next time. Wish we could have all gotten together however I'm glad that the kids got to meet I know that they all had a good time. The only reason I thought to turn around and ask if you were Mari at WaveBands was because I heard the DJ call Terrance up to where he was so I thought I'm just gonna ask.Ha
We all had such a good time and I'm trying to decide where we will be sailing next year.
Thanx again,
Lisa
Debbie,
Thank you so much for the fish ext gifts I really enjoyed the space shuttle stuff I only wish we could have seen the launch. I hoped you all enjoyed your trip as much as my family and friends did.
Thanx again,
Lisa
Mickie,
You are truly a special person and I'm so glad that we got to spend time together. I know Katlyn had alot of fun with Taylor and the other kids. To bad we didn't get you to WaveBands earlier with our group you never know what to expect. Ha I know one thing once Pikey learned your name you definitely were in trouble.Ha My parents really enjoyed meeting you and I know would love to talk to your husband. I enjoyed the Fish ext. stuff but more importantly just getting to know you. I sent you a email.
Talk Later,
Lisa
