We arrived last Friday and left today. We are going back next spring break but had such a blast, as always, we want to go back over winter break!
site 301, loved the site, but it was very sad knowing about Donna Disney. When we realized it was 301, we were all a little sad but we talked to the man across the way who was very close with them and he was very kind and shared a few stories with us about them.

I found the trail that goes to WL, I rode my bike all over the place! I love bike riding around the fort. We have our own golf cart, but I didn't see as many personal carts as I normally do while there. There was a cool Mater on though!
Ate at Trails End twice, had the famous Ken for breakfast and had a mediocre server for dinner (I THINK her name was Becky). I told Ken about the disboards and how we loved him. He was just great and so happy :goodvibes Food was good, I always love TE! The banana muffin was sooo good! If I was not on a diet, I would have had at least 3 haha! I am a fan of the breakfast pizza, yum! The cobbler at dinner was good with the new soft serve on top :thumbsup2
We did the Hoop Dee Doo, and loved it! This was our second time doing the show, the first was a few years ago. We loved the show and would do it again.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v702/motoxangel04/IMG_6505.jpg
Ate at 'Ohana our first night! AMAZING! This is one of my top 3 restaurants ever (including non-disney). My bf said the dessert was the best he has ever had and he is hard to please! Also, by bf is a Disney hater so it was my mission this trip to turn him around... he had not been to disney since he was little. We already want to go again our next trip, time to start calling!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v702/motoxangel04/IMG_6369.jpg
We did Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. The parks didn't seem to bad, I think the longest line I saw was 50 minutes.
At Animal Kingdom there was a baby giraffe that just started running and it was our safari drivers first time seeing the little one run and boy, was he running! He was running all over the Savannah! Our driver was so excited he actually stopped the truck so we could watch him run all over the place! My bf LOVED EE! and the safari!
we also got to see the robot trash can, so cool!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v702/motoxangel04/IMG_6398.jpg
At Magic Kingdom we saw a commercial being filmed for next years theme, something about celebrations. Basically, a guy was going to propose to his gf and she was being set up. They had this area by the castle roped off and the decoy people were posing with prince charming and then we saw the couple walk up and they took a picture just like the decoy people were but then the prince grabbed a box and gave it to the bf and it was a slipper on a platter with the ring inside and then he proposed and she had family hiding that jumped out. She was sooo surprised and said yes! The boys also got the famous Dole Whip but I was on a diet so chose not to, I still gained weight!

Like my mom said in another thread, they are tearing up loop 500. It's a mess right now.

Would love to see pictures of Loop 500 :-)
I didn't take any pictures but I will do my best to describe it...
the loop is closed off so you can't go in it. There are a ton of workers, I saw at least 10-12 different workers cars, and that's what i could see from the road. The sandy area that is outlined by the wood blocks that are at every site are torn up and in big dumpsters throughout the loop. They were knocking down trees, grills in the dumpsters, breaking concrete up. That's all I can think of, it looks like all the sites are being worked on.
If you can think of anything else to ask, I will do my best to answer, or my mom might be able to.
so would i...
see my above reply to clkelley :)
Thanks so much for the report and the pictures! The baby giraffe is adorable! It looks like you guys had a great time! We've only had Ohana's once for breakfast...and it was GREAT!

Nice pictures! That baby giraffe is so cute! Glad you had a great time. Congrats on making your bf a Disney lover. Wish I could do that to my DH! :sad2:
You look fantastic! I don't know why you are still on that diet. Good job! Now get your skinny butt over to the weight loss board and give the rest of us some encouragement!! :lmao:

Hi
I am Ashley's (Lucy Love) mom.
All I can add about Loop 500 is that I think they were trimming the tree branches and clearing shurbs for more room at the sites for MH slides and awnings. Although as we were leaving we did see trim cutting trucks coming into the loops. Loop 500 still has a lot of trees and you would proabably not noticed if it were not for the sumps. The potato vine is killing a lot of trees and therefore they need to be cut down which is sad. I did not see any other loops under construction except for 500 it did look like some work had been done in Loop 1000 but that may be due to the potato vine. We rode every loop in the golf cart and it looks like Disney is a little behind on making premium sites with the exception of loop 500.

Great pics!!! And you look fabulous. If I could just lose a few pounds before dh gets back. While he has been gone, he lost 30 and I gained 10. Once the doc gets my meds figured out, I will hopefully have the strenght and energy to go back to working out.
Glad your bf saw the light. I'd hate for you to have to dump him because he didn't like disney. ;) We went on our honeymoon to WDW and dh liked it but was not a big fan. Well I dragged him back a couple of more times but I swear on our trip in Feb 2006, Tinker Bell got a hold of him and sprinkled him with pixie dust because shortly after we got back HE asked ME to plan a trip for that Dec. We didn't get to go in 2007 because of the army moving us and dh deploying and such. He did tell me to take a trip while he was gone. After we got back and he saw pics though he was sad and said we could never go again w/o him. We are going as soon as he gets back.
As for the 500 loop, grills in the dumpster? Wow, they really are making them premium. I wonder if the new grills will still be the same. I still want to know what the "upgraded" picnic tables will look like as well. I think the first one to post a pic of the new tables or a new site should get a get out of jail free card. :wizard:
We love Ohana as well. We don't get to do special dining as much as we want though because, with all of us, it is $200 a pop. We had the dining plan one trip and did one every day, including the Hoop Dee Doo, which we had a blast at. Now we try to do one special dining per trip.
Glad you had a great trip. Please post more pics for us all.

Like BDR said, cancer, she passed on Christmas day last year... 20 days after Samantha Brown and the travel channel were filming her and the fort :(
I hate to hear they are taking trees down. That is what I love so much about the Fort...all of the trees.:sad1:
I think it was so they could accommodate larger rigs :confused3

haha ColleenFL, she doesn't post often but she knows that I am obsessed with Disney and I think she will post more often ;)
We were at the fort when the news came of her passing, I dont really know how to put it into words but the fort had a change in karma after that.
That is really sad, when we were there we felt the sadness just being in that site. The man across the way who was close with them said that her husband is just devastated and wants to sell his Prevost and never come to disney again. The man across the way, I wish I remembered his name, said he has convinced him not to sell the coach and is working on him coming back down to the fort.
I agree, we were there in Jan 2008 and each time we passed 301 there was a sad feeling.
:(
Great report and pictures. Diet must be going great because you look hot. Way to go. Keep up the good work.:thumbsup2
haha :rotfl2: thanks! It has slowed down a lot, those first 20 pounds sure came off like nothing and now it is a lot more difficult!

Thank you!! My doctors goal for me is to be at 120 so I still have a little ways to go. I know, I have been lacking over there! Every Friday I have been out of town and I gained weight so I have been hiding but I am not caught! :rotfl2: Darn disney and 'Ohana! :lmao:

Only if I could get the bf to ASK ME to go on a trip, that will be the day!! HAHA. Glad to see that you have successfully turned a disney hater around, i'm on my way! We usually always eat at the coach or we might go to an average priced place but since my bf was here, and we got a good rate per night, we splurged and did 'Ohana, TE (twice!), and HDR!

Ashley-
Very nice job on the trip report!
For those of you asking about "Disney" Donna, she and her Husband used to spend the entire fall and winter at the Fort. For the past few years, they were always assigned to site # 301, and they decorated for every holiday.
Here are a few photos that I took last Thanksgiving (2007), when they had put up their Christmas decorations:

oh my word, I remember seeing their site last year when we were there. How sad!!! I feel for the husband, I often wonder what I would do if faced with this.
I had DVR the Samatha Brown show and then it never recorded, I didn't realize it until sometime after when I went to watch it. I was throwing the remote around the bedroom yelling... NO!! NO!!!! Ok, that and a whole lot of other words...

We were there and remember seeing their beautiful display as we rode our bikes to the marina. So sad, but glad they enjoyed WDW.
On a separate question, we always wondered how some people get the same site every year? We have never been able to do that. Anyone know?

The people who deck out the sites draw crowds to the Fort, they are given special consideration by Disney. Everybody else just luck.

that is mr. mcmanus. he is here right now, as a matter of fact. his permit says til 8-30 but he will renew it again. he only comes on weekends he said. its his therapy. he is having his porsche pressure washed as i type. lol.
just a side note....a little boy got hit by a disney van yesterday at 300 loop. actually, he ran IN to the van. he was zipping around on a motorized scooter and ran the stop sign and ran right into a van out on the road. he got banged up pretty good. his knee cap was just a flap of skin, stitches to close that and his chest is bruised and he's scraped up. brave little guy didn't even cry, i thought he was maybe in shock. disney suits were here in no time flat, then ambulance and even a firetruck. i thought at first it was one of his dogs cause they are running around off leash alot, then i saw it was him. it sure was a scarey sight to see. all is well today, he is just limping around.

Dad and I are very proud of you Ashley way to go on the A. Keep up the great work at school.
The kid on those electric scooters or electric skate boards with the handle bars really need to be stopped they zip around and dart out into the roads witout even looking, now that is what is scary. I have a 16 year old we tried those things with him and realized kids just don't think about looking what is behind them or what is coming while darting out, we had my son stop before someone got hurt. He drives now but this is when he was like 12 and 13. I feel very bad for the kid who got hurt but my point is proven there should be rules that they need to be 15 or 16 to be on those at the fort.
Just my thought until then I am very careful about them when I am at places like the FOrt.

I'm not Ashley but, Have stayed in 300 loop several times. You can hear the boat horn and the EWP music. I find if I'm awake I hear these, but is not loud enough to wake me. We are in a camper, it is louder if you're in a tent.

I could hear the Parade (fairly loud), but I like hearing it :)
I could not hear the horns, I guess I am a sound sleeper! What did wake me up was garbage men since our site was next to a dumpster.

i heard the garbage men too but the worst was our last 4 days, we had a woman and two children (one was the one that got hit by the van) and they were up by 7 and were very loud, their dogs were up also and barked at everything and were running around the loop dragging leashes. Probably the worst was when they started up the leaf blower at 7 on their patio. their back end of the trailer backed up to ours so it was like they were right there. i wasn't too happy but at least it was at the end of our stay and the kids were such nice little kids otherwise.

I think I'm a reasonable, happy camper,,but there are times that I just would not be, and rude campers may find that out.

yeh it wasn't easy for me to not say anything. when the disney "suit" came to talk to me about the accident involving their child, i made sure he knew the dogs were running off leash. there's no greater dog lover than me and i admit , i even called the dogs over when i saw them running but i was concerned for their safety as well as the safety of the other animals who WERE on their leash. We had to get up early the morning of the leaf blower, or i swear, i would have said something. it was practically in our bedroom, even with the a/c on it was horribly loud. Their trailer was more for the dogs (literally) i think so they made their main living area outside and they were cleaning it up i guess.

I would have at least let the CMs know about the leaf blower. That is unacceptable if not completely against the Disney rules. I can't imagine someone bringing their own leaf blower.

the site next to those people, the week before, washed their entire RV! i always thought that was taboo in any campground. there was soap running all over the place and i kept thinking, i hope no animals and wildlife are near that. I was so happy to be there for two weeks, i pretty much just shook my head and looked the other way but i didnt think it was right. what would you guys have done?

When there in Jan 08 EVERYDAY a van would come in and wash the winter campers rigs and cars ALL day long, after 3 days we asked the front desk what's the deal with this noise all day long. The CM said it was perfectly fine with Fort management. So for 8 days our peace and quiet was disturbed by powerwashing. Also the guys with chain saws taking out the trees and foliage, which was more understandable. But it was very noisey that trip.
