HI
I am seriously thinking about buying DVC resale very soon. How do I actually send the money to the US? What do I need to do to get a US cheque? Or is there some other way to pay as I believe that I can't pay with my credit card!
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
Ann

Hi Ann - we bought our DVC direct and were able to use a credit card so it's worth checking out. If you do this though you need to use the Nationwide card to avoid excessive charges - they also give the best exchange rate.
Otherwise contact your bank about an International MoneyMover - which will transfer the money directly from your bank account to their's. There is a charge for this and it varies depending on how quickly you want the money to get there.

Once we decided we were going to buy, we set ourselves a limit and used HIFX to get a way better exchange rate. In the meantime we opened a US Dollar account at the Bank of Scotland (my bank), and then HIFX put the money back in (but in USD). Then (because of a hiccup with the account) I put the deposit on a 0% Credit Card (which was $1000 for the resale we picked). Then once everything went through I just sent a CHAPS payment from the new account for the balance. We recently got our USD cheque book.

we went to our post office and they arranged for our cheque to be sent by a special method whereby it is tracked all the way, it took about 5 days to get there and cost £7.00.
