Hi. Anyone else on these boards going on this cruise?

I hope your daughter has a lovely wedding.

OH my gosh FINALLY someone else will be on this cruise with us!! So excited to see another DIS member will be there I was beginning to think I was the only one. Your first cruise how exciting, this will be our 5th. How old is everyone you are sailing with?? Like I posted earlier my Daughter will be getting MARRIED on this cruise! We are so EXCITED. They are hoping to get married on the Secret Deck 7 (I guess the location can change depening on weather and so on) Sooo depening on what you are doing around 4:30 or 5:30 (yeah I guess those are the times for the Ceremony also) on Nassau day if you get a spot on the deck above you can look down and watch;) She will be the AMAZING looking girl in the long white dress.

Glad to "meet" you and I would love to hear if anyone else is cruising with us now that FINALLY there is another!!!!!!

My daughter will be 7, and my sons 5 and 3. My in-laws are having some health issues right now, so hopefully this will all work out--they're the ones footing the bill! We haven't told the kids yet. I'm excited to try this out! My wife and I are big Disney geeks.

Congratulations to your daughter!

We're going on this cruise along with 2 other families. At time, DD will be 9 and my DSs will be 12 and 14. The other families by 2 boys (10 and 13) and 4 boys (7, 9, 12, and 14). Only 1 girl out of the 9 kids!

We're telling them all together at a superbowl party this weekend. Probably very early to tell them but I can't wait any more! We have a survivor-like challenge we're making them do and the end puzzle spells disney cruise.

Our big surprise went really well, except the kids weren't really freaking out the way we all expected. I think they were too shocked. It took them forever to unscramble the puzzle spelling out disney cruise, because they were convinced the whole challenge had to do with football! About 30 minutes later, they really started getting excited after it sunk in. One actuallly said, "why did you tell us so soon!".

Belle - I'm glad your team won the superbowl, but it looks like Capt. Oblivious and I are Eagles fans!

Welcome MickeyMick56 - glad to see we have more joining this thread! My countdown clock says 226 days to go - it still feels so far away!

We booked our plane tickets this month. I was watching a few options and finally jumped on a good deal. It's nice to have that part behind us. Now it's all the fun stuff left! :goodvibes

Great to see another family joining us on this cruise!!!!!! Mickey..the wedding is "suppose" to be the day we are in Nassau at either 4:30 or 5:30 is what DD has told us. I guess the Captain has final say on the time. They are getting married on the Secret Deck 7 so hang out on the deck above and have a look!!! LOL. I am so excited about the wedding I think we are all going to have a wonderful time.

We live 10 minutes from the Atlantic City airport. Spirit had a promotion last month that brought the price down to $200 each. Not a great deal, but decent considering they treat this week like a holiday since NJ schools are closed for convention. The prices will start to get pretty high now. Spirit has a ton of hidden fees: every checked bag and even to reserve a seat next to your kid! But it is so close and beats the heck out of driving 1 hr to Philly airport never knowing what kind of traffic you might hit. Southwest will surely be cheaper. Look on the 'gettng there' board and you'll find the date they release November flights. I think it is in May. What area are you from?

Thanks! We live in New Castle County, Delaware. So we usually fly out of either Philly or Baltimore, depending on where we get better rates. Philly's a little closer, but Baltimore's airport is nicer.

WOW a Birthday onboard.....How fun. Welcome to the cruise. Our numbers are growing. Is everyone counting the days like I am ?? We are still waiting to book our air. I have $600.00 in credit from Southwest it was supose to expire in October 2009 but I called and they will extend it once for 1 year, so I have to call in May or June to have it extended then we can start watching for our tickets to get to Orlando. DD will get there a day ahead of us and pick us up at the Airport. I CAN'T WAIT......

I am trying not to worry about small stuff and just enjoy the fact that we are finially going on a Disney cruise..................................
Cast members, me 39, DH 37, DD 19, DD 17, DS 16, DD 15, & last but certainly not least DD 12.
Thinking about adding a 2 day stay at AMus after cruise because my oldest said it would be so aweful to be so close to Disney and not go at least for a few days! :rotfl:
That remains to be seen but the cruise is on.:cool1:

Hi Fellow cruisers! Any one else going to Disney World first? We are staying at the Beach Club. I'm 99 days from the start of our land part. I've been gearing up for dining reservations and found out yesterday we now have free dining!

We had 3 families going with us (6 adults, 8 boys, and my daughter) and now have another family going along with 2 more boys and 2 girls!

We're all silly Eagles fans except one family of Cowboy fans. Found out the Sunday night game on the cruise is Eagles v. Cowboys. I know it's nuts, but we are psyched! No worries, though we are nice fans. :)

96 days to the Cruise!!!!!!

Captain_Oblivious
07-31-2009, 09:33 AM
Yes! We are looking to fly in Friday night (Southwest needs to lower their prices a bit) and spend 2 nights at the Wilderness Lodge (just booked the new room-only discount!) before heading to the cruise on Sunday.

As I said before, you can never have too many silly Eagles fans on the boat. Our family makes 5 more! We'll have to find a way to say hi.

I didn't even think to check the schedule. Maybe they'll show the Eagles/Cowboys game on the big screen over the pool. Because that'd be, you know, awesome.

But why are you bringing Cowboys fans along?!

goeagles
08-07-2009, 12:35 PM
Just booked our meals - so psyched they extended free dining!

Capt Oblivious: We're only letting the Cowboy fans come along since one of their kids has converted to the Eagles. :-) We can met Sunday night - game time at the sports bar!:cheer2:

DisneyDreamer5: My DS is only 9 but I have 2 boys near your ages. They will be 12 and 14 when we sail. They have AIM/email and said they would chat. I don't know if your girls would be interested in emailing with them, but I imagine we can set it up somehow.

Captain_Oblivious
08-13-2009, 04:20 PM
I read that they have a "vote" in the sports bar as to what game they show, but if it's the Sunday night game, then it should be the only one on. I'm still holding out hope for showing it on the big screen over the pool!

What to pack...Eagles t-shirt or McNabb jersey...

Hi all,
We will at the Beach Club for 3 nights before the cruise and 3 nights post cruise at Animal Kingdom. We are so excited to try our fist Disney Cruise!!! Our "pirates" are 4 & 6 turning 7 on the 5th. We are planning doing the pirate adventure @ the Beach Club on the 6th, and the Mickey & Pals Fireworks Voyage on the 7th. Has anyone done either of these? If so how did you like it?

Only 64 more days before we leave Pennsylvania for the CRUISE!!! I can't wait. We fly to Florida on the 7th and are spending the night in Cocoa Beach. DD and her Fiancee are flying in on the 5th I believe they want to see some friends from College and have a few things to pick up for the WEDDING before they get on the ship. I am so looking forward to seeing them since I haven't seen them since last October Texas is so far away. We have our clothes for the wedding and I have actually allready started thinking of what other clothes to pack....that is whats in the spare room as I type clothes I am thinking of packing.

We have booked 3 nights at POP Resort for the days after the cruise (was THRILLED with the FREE dining) I had been holding out hoping that it would become available!! so the cruise for 4 nights the WEDDING and three nights at the PARKS:cool1: I am a summer person but I can't wait for these last days to fly by......

Hi everyone! After several months of waiting and planning I can finally "officially" join this thread! :yay:

DS(20) and I will be leaving NC on the 7th to drive down to Port Canaveral.

I did a Disney cruise last year with another DS and a Carnival cruise is 2007 with yet another DS. Not sure what I'll do next year because after this cruise I am out of DSs! :rotfl: DH refuses to go on a cruise. He just doesn't know what he's missing!

DS(20) has Down Syndrome and he is so excited about this cruise. And I'm lucky enough not only to be able to cruise with him but to be able to see all of his firsts with him! I know he is absolutely going to go nuts when he actually sees how big a cruise ship really is!

Is this the place to see if anyone wants to do FEs? Or is that a seperate thread? Because I'm definitely interested. We did that on our cruise last year and it was so much fun!!

DD received an email about her Marriage License (makes it a bit more real) I do believe all the girls have their dresses and DD's Bridesmaids flew her to Orlando a week ago for a Bachlorette Party!!! She had a wonderful time and got to see a lot of her College Friends...was a Wonderful suprise from her Friends since it was all a SUPRISE for her...her Fiancee was in on it and kept it a secret for a couple weeks.....she had no idea WHERE she was going until he dropped her off at the Dallas Airport for a 7AM flight.

I do hope to see you around the ship....start packing we only have 47 days until we are CRUISING!!!!

Oh wait--you're a Cowboys fan. Well, your fiancee can come. :lmao: Between him, my family, and goeagles, I'm afraid you're going to be surrounded. Did you know the Cowboys and Eagles play on the night we set sail?

Yep we are cowboy fans but judging from Sundays game I'm quite ashamed! LOL! Yes I am aware of the game on the 8th and I'm very excited! Really hoping they have the game on the big screen!

On another note, is anyone going on an excision while in the nasseau? I'm thinking of Atlantis and just want some insight!

Also, when is pirate night on our cruise? And how many theatre shows are on ship? One last question, if I do pali on the last night, what am I missing? Thanks

I believe that Pirate Night is November 9th durring this cruise....I could be wrong but I think I remember reading this somewhere because this is the day DD will have her Wedding while we are in port at Nassau.

This is our first cruise, so I don't know all the details. But from reading trip reports, it seems like Pirate night is usually on the Castaway Cay day.

We are really debating Nassau. We usually like to explore places we haven't seen before, but it looks like Atlantis is really the only thing worth seeing, and it costs an arm and a leg to do anything there. So we're still on the fence.

I took my one DS last October and we did the open water snorkeling and we also had time to walk around and see a little bit of Nassau right there at the port. We had a blast snorkeling. Not sure if that's anything you'd be interested in. I think it was $45 per person.

This year I'm taking another DS. He has Down Syndrome and I'm just not real comfortable with the idea of the open water snorkeling with him. I think we'll just walk around Nassau a little and then head back to the ship. Nice thing about that is the ship isn't nearly as crowded when it's in port.

Hi Everyone:cheer2:,
Sorry I haven't responded to anything, but september has been a very busy month for me:teacher:. Our boys are so excited about this cruise! Last year we did a Carnival cruise and while we were in Nassua we did the Blackbeard's Cay experience. Carnival offered just the beach experience (no food or stingrays) and it cost us 100.00 for all 4 of us. We had a quiet day on the beach. We were thinking about doing it again, but we can't justify going to the same place for double the price.:sad2: We are thinking about staying on the ship and taking a walk through town. Whe I called DCL the CM told me the pirate party is usually on the Castaway Cay Night. We scheduled Palo for the last night because the CM told me you eat in the same restuarant on the 1st & 4th night. We aren't sure we want to miss our last night with our servers. Any suggestions?
My DH and DS are hoping they show the game on the big screen by the pool.

I think our feeling is that we've already spent much more on the cruise itself than we would on a normal vacation, so it's hard to justify shelling out more on the excursions. My daughter is 7, and my sons are 5 and 3, so they aren't quite ready for a lot of sightseeing, and they're all still beginners with swimming. Right now I think we're leaning towards taking a few pictures at the dock (so we can say we "set foot" in Nassau) and then enjoying a relatively empty boat! So we'll probably see you around...

I can't wait to see Castaway Cay, though. That's the part I'm looking forward to the most. :woohoo:

If I remember correctly from last year you have breakfast on the last morning at the same restaurant that you dined in on the last night. So, unless you plan to skip the "restaurant" breakfast and opt for one of the buffet-types then you would get to see your servers one last time that morning!

I understand completely!

My son and I are going to get off in Nassau and walk around a bit - like you said, just to be able to say we set foot in Nassau. But then we're going to head back to the boat and hopefully it won't be too crowded. My son doesn't always do well in crowds.

My name is Mike and I will be cruising with my family on a 4 night Wonder cruise on Nov 15th. I am wondering if someone might be available to send along the Navigators when you get back? I am wanting to share with the kiddies what is coming up really soon.

We cruised in 2000 and 2001 with 2 and then 3 kids respectively. However, we have 7 now. And they are all looking forward to this. The oldest ones barely remember anything from their cruise but I'm hoping to build a lot of great memories with this one. So I'm hoping to plan the trip to the best I can.

I am hoping someone might be able to keep copies of the Daily Navigators and scan them to email when they get home? I can send along my email if someone can help.

Thanks so much and enjoy your cruise!!

Mike

I'm starting to get a little nervous....has everyone received their packet with the brochure/booklet and luggage tags? I haven't and I'm nervous now that we are under that 30 day mark.

Martin: Welcome!

TanteDidi: Welcome! It's our first cruise too, so you won't be alone. It'll be a blast!

Mike: Not sure how quickly we can scan them in and get it to you upon returning, but we can try. There are a couple of posts that have recent Navigators in them, and from what I can tell, they won't change a whole lot within a couple of months' timeframe. Check out:

My travel agent called today to say that she receive all the paper for the parks, hotel and free dining but nothing for the cruise. So she called DCL and they said that it was on process and the papers will be mailed in the nexts couples of days!

By the way, I went on the DCL site and we have our assignation for the cabine

Has anyone reserve an excursion at Nassau? If you did, witch one have you take?

Seeing more activity on this board is adding to the already mounting excitment for the trip. So close now!!!! :cool1:

We haven't gotten any travel documents yet. We've had our cabin numbers since we booked, but I think that's because we paid $250 pp deposit to secure cabins near each other. We have 6 cabins for our 4 families.

Our whole group of 21 booked the Caribbean Queen snorkel excursion for Nassau. It's only 2.5 hours long, $37, and is for the afternoon. We'll enjoy the ship and have lunch on board, then head to the excursion

When we went in 2005 we did the Blackbeard Stingray Beach excursion. We really liked it. If you want another beach day besides just Castaway, we liked this. We snorkeled off the beach as soon as we got there (when the crowd headed to the stingray pond). Then we went to the stingray pond and were practically the only ones there. Food was okay. This definitely wasn't 'disney-ish' property, but we really enjoyed the day. We may have paid extra to use snorkel gear off the beach, but I can't remember.

Did any one get trip insurance? We never have in the past but now I'm worried about the H1N1 virus!!! I'm not sure it would even cover it. Does anyone know?

3 weeks till we head to the airport! :woohoo: Our kids still don't know, although DD (7) has an idea. We'll break the news on Nov. 1.

I'm starting to wonder if I might have to watch some World Series games onboard as well as the Eagles!

We received our travel documents/travel booklets today! :cool1: I've been waiting anxiously - getting them makes it seem like a bit more of a reality!

There is one problem though - they spelled our son's first name incorrectly. :guilty: I've contacted our travel agent to get this corrected because I'm afraid that might be a problem since it doesn't match his passport.

But at least we're that much closer now!!:cool1:

I am hoping to get a nice picture of my boys to use on our Holiday Cards.

Can you tell me what is an FE?

I knew someone was going to ask that and I'm terrible at explaining.

Basically - outside of every cabin is a fish with a hook on it. It was designed by Disney to hang a note or something like that if they needed to leave something for you. Dissers have been using them to do exchanges. You buy or make some sort of holder to hang from the hook. It can be simple or elaborate. (Some crafty people go all out but I'm not that crafty so last year I made a fairly simple one.) Anyway, before sailing anyone interested gives their ingo (cabin number, # of guests and ages of guests) to whoever is organizing and then they distribute the info. On the cruise you take little gifts to your fellow fish extender exchange participants. It's really fun to come back to your cabin and find goodies in your fish extender! Last year I gave little bags of candy - you usually put in enough gifts for each member in the stateroom. We got some really neat stuff too. It was really a lot of fun!

It's also neat to see the reactions from people who don't know about disboards. We got all sorts of questions about it!

Let me see if I can find a link to it somewhere.

I found a schedule from a few years ago, and it showed the decorations being up on the boat during the second week of November...which means we would be in luck!

I don't think it's guaranteed, though. I'd say expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised if the decorations are there.

We probably wouldn't see them in the terminal or on the island yet, though.

I thought that we can be in luck because at Magic Kingdom the MVMCP start on november 10 and in Hollywood Studios the Osborne to... so maybe on the Wonder we will have the chance to see some decorations.... I cross my fingers

It looks like it might be a Yankees/Phillies World Series, so your son and I might have to remain separated! :lmao:

If I remember from reading previous navigators, they put a World Series game up on the Ariel TV above the pool... :thumbsup2

7 days from this moment we will be landing in Orlando for our Land portion! So excited. I've never been a worrier, but this time around the H1N1 has me so nervous. So far we have colds and ear infections going.... here's hoping thats all! Our area hasn't had the injectable vacine and my kids can't get the mist. It's beyond my control so I know I shouldn't focus on it.

Capt Oblivious - I hope your all feeling better and it's not serious! I assume/hope you are a Phillies fan too besides our beloved Eagles. The birds looked awful on Sunday and got lucky. We can't beat the cowboys playing like that. :)

Hey!
Wow, I have been reading for years, now i am finally a member... This is our family's first cruise and my mom is coming too, her first as well. We have adjoining rooms. We have 3 kids: dd-almost 9, ds 4 and dd 21 mos. Older DD will be with my mom in her stateroom. We have made our ressies for palo, founders, spa and registered the kids for the club/lab. But I have only just begun to think about packing and feel so unprepared!!!

I know it is going to be fun, but I am still nervous. We're driving down from NJ with a 2 day stop in SC to visit dh's folks. Then we will drive to Port sat and stay one night. This is the first vacation in years that I won't need to cook, clean, do laundry, etc!!! I can't wait.

I am too late for FE exchange but maybe next time. I hope DH really likes it, so there can be a next time, LOL!

We leave out of AC. I agree ESPN will be too crowded. I'm sure they'll have it on at the pool bar and we can watch while the kids swim. We aren't taking the shuttle. We have a 24 pass bus for our group picking us up at 10:30 am, it is actually cheaper than the shuttle. Too bad we're already full or we could have squeezed you in! Anyway, I just called to see which movies will be playing and this is what they told me:

GForce
The Proposal
Up
Earth
The Christmas Carol
Bolt
Hannah Montana the Movie
The Surrugate

We're excited about The Christmas Carol!! :yay:

I better start packing - 2 more days!!

I hope everyone on this thread is enjoying the cruise as much as A.J. and I are!

gracia98 - Thanks for posting the movies. It gave us a little idea of more of what we could look forward to! We're hoping to see Christmas Carol tomorrow.

We have eaten, and eaten and eaten so far on the cruise. :lmao: I made AJ weigh himself before we left just so I can see how much he gains! :rotfl:

Chris - I'm so glad we got to meet today. Thanks for coming up to me and introducing yourself. Hope to see you again on the cruise.

Gotta deliver some FE gifts this evening. We've received gifts already and it's so neat to come back to the room and find presents waiting for us!

Hope everyone had a great time!

We had a lot of fun, and our kids had a blast. I might put up a trip report in a few days...

BELLE--we saw your group and beautiful bride a few times on board. I thought about saying hi, but it always looked like you guys were huddled up in conversation, and I didn't want to be rude. Congratulations and I hope everything went smoothly!

Kathy (eeyore)--I think I spotted you and your son near the gift shop on Castaway Cay--but again, I was busy putting my FIL into a wheelchair and missed you. Glad you had fun!

goeagles--As it turns out, I was only able to duck my head into the sports bar right before halftime to check on the game. The boat was rocking and rolling enough to make me and my wife want to go straight to bed after the Golden Mickeys show. I'm kinda glad I missed the end...
