If you knew you'd only be able to do ONE Disney trip in five years and had to pick would you.......

1. Go on a 7 Day Disney Cruise (not land/sea just the cruise)

2. Go to Disney World for a week

3. Go to Disneyland for a week

A co-worker has finally harassed her husband into going on a Disney vacation again next year with the kids, but he says this is it for a few years. They did a Disney Cruise in in 2006 and Disney World in 2005 and she can't decide between the 3 above. She really wants to see Disneyland, but for a week?
She LOVED both the cruise and WDW, but DH won't do land/sea, too much hassle he says  Hers kids are DD six and DD eight. I say WDW, but I've never done a cruise.

Having never done a cruise, this might sway my answer, but I would say WDW for a week. I'm really excited about the cruise, but I could never give up WDW. Besides, maybe she'll get him to do it, and he'll love it so much that he wants to go back again.

i've done all 3 - i'd pick WDW..

but maybe for her, since she wants to do DL, maybe that's what she should do...
DL/DCA take about 4 days ....
so she could do other stuff for the other 3 days.....lots to do in the LA area...

when we went to DL/DCA a few years ago, we all enjoyed it...
we won't go again for a while, but it was nice to see....

I have to be honest...I have never done a Disney cruise but I have done WDW and DL. I would chose WDW for a week. I really liked DL but I think a week would be too much. If I wouldn't be able to go for a while I would have to get my WDW fix on!

2. Go to Disney World for a week

And I would make that the most rockin' week to last the 5 years. I would go all out --- (kind of like I'm doing with our trip next month!) :yay:

Gotta say one thing about the DH ... he's a nice guy, except for the Disney thing, he reminds me of Walter a bit actually. He's a tree hugger and loves camping. And we aren't talking camping at Fort Wilderness. That was suggested. We are talking camping out in the middle of nowhere to commune with nature, hiking, fishing, rock climbing, no TV, no computer, no phones. So the fact that he is willing to do Disney at all blows my mind. He doesn't hate Disney, it just seriously isn't his kind of thing.

Well, I have nothing to compare it to - but I'd choose WDW anyway, because it has the most in terms of choices. You have 4 main parks, 2 water parks, DTD, PI (for, like, a week), and gazillions of resorts and other activities. There is so much to see and do that the only problem would be deciding your itinerary!

I understand the problem, though. My DH isn't a Disney fan. That isn't to say he doesn't enjoy it once he's there, but he's not much for vacations (he'd rather have the money in a savings account, and just stay home and not work for a week!).

I would have to pick WDW. Especially for a week. If she is torn she could always do a Land See package and get DCL and WDW in there.

my vote is WDW. we considered doing a land/sea this time, but decided with 3 kiddos (2 under 3) it would be a pain to transfer and get around/repack.

so we just are doing 10 days at WDW. we might do a cruise in a few years.

DL is great, but i wouldn't spend a week there i don't think. It would be a great 2-3 day jaunt.

I havent been to DL, but will be next year....
I havent been on a DCL but have been on many cruises...

I HAVE been to WDW many many times

If I had to pick between the 3, Id have to go with A Disney Cruise!! I guess because that is my dream to go on a disney cruise..

But you can betcha bootie that as soon as the 5 years was up, Id hightail it to DisneyWorld!:rotfl:

I haven't been on a Disney Cruise - but looking at the ages of the children, I am another vote for a week at WDW. In 5 years, the kids will be 11 and 13 - they may be past the pixie-dust age at that point. Do WDW now!

Never done a cruise, but I would still say WDW for a week. Much more to do than DL.

Weighing in!

I haven't been to DL but I have been to WDW many times and once on a honeymoon Disney Cruise and though I really enjoyed the cruise, I missed the parks. We had seven hours to kill in the Orlando airport before our flight out and it killed me to be so close to WDW and not go! So I say go to WDW! Make it one to really remember!

Been to WDW and DL. Never been on a cruise although I've thought about it. The only thing that keeps holding me back is Disney is my daughter's and my "thing" to do and I love to be with her and experience the Disney magic, and I'm not sure that would happen on the cruise ship. She'd be off doing kid stuff (I hear there are tons of kid only things to do) and I'd be forced to go do adult stuff by myself (not saying a massage or pedicure wouldn't be fun, but...) and that is definitely NOT the point of going on vacation with her. Plus we have such an incredibly fantastic time in WDW that I suggest you go there. DL is nice but it won't last you a week...

How about a his & hers trip:
A Northern California visit - Yosemite, Monterey Bay Aquarium, the drive down the coast, and a few days in DL.
San Diego has a wonderful zoo and there's sea world.

If the trip includes some of his favorite things, he might be more eager to travel again w/in the 5 year limit.

This is EXACTLY what I was going to suggest. To balance it out, I'd do a combo trip, with Hollywood, DL/DCA, and Yosemite, etc. It'll be a WOW trip, incl. something for everyone, and since there wasnt Disney overkill, you stand a chance of another trip w/in 5 years! :thumbsup2

Well, from someone this has happened to. I would have to pick WDW. Of course I have been to WDW with DH in 2002 and 2007, so for 2012 I might be able to convince him to go on a cruise. The only thing is, is that I enjoy WDW in December. I have four years to think about it.

In 2007, I had to comprise. 5 days in WDW and 2 days at Universal (which I actually enjoyed... especially Seuss Landing).

My DH is tired of Disney so I have to come up with new things to do. This past trip I took a lot of pictures, just in case I don't make it back in 2012. If the Disney company would create a park of thrill rides, my DH would be there. Here's hoping someday.
