DH, DD, and I went to the state fair yesterday and saw someone wearing a podcast t-shirt. I stopped and talked to her, okay DH had to talk to her first. I forgot to ask her her user name, so if you see this post, let me know who you are.
What are the chances??

Do you know how bummed I would be if it was you, and I didn't ask your name?

Don't worry...I think I would have recognized you and would have just run up and given you a hug (which could actually be pretty scary :teeth: ).

It is fun to meet fellow DIS people. I have not been to Iowa, but I know some people that used to live there.

:rolleyes1 So, have you found pictures of those meeting you at Ahola Isle? NC Beast and I will not be carrying a hatchet this time (held one last visit to MK).

Okay, okay...if you leave your hatchet at home, I'll leave my gun! :rotfl:
Actually -- I've only seen a few pictures (whatever is in someone's signature) of the people coming to our meet. It will be nice to put a face with a name. I should be easy to spot because I'm going to make an iron-transfer of the meet graphic in my signature and put it on the front of my DIS Unplugged shirt.

Have I had my picture up before? I'm sure I wouldn't have been scared at all, lol.

Hopefully you find whoever you met.

It wasn't me...but we did go to the Indiana State Fair over the weekend!
DH was born and raised in Des Moines. I lived there from my 6th grade year through the end of my sophomore year and we attended the Iowa State Fair every year that we were there! DH and I always talk about going back to the Iowa State Fair...usually after we've spent the day at the Indiana Fair. While the Indiana State Fair is nice...well, it's a Fair...it doesn't even hold a candle to the Iowa State Fair! Wonder how much it's changed...and if it's still as good as we remember it was!
I saw my very first concert at the Iowa State Fair! It was Miami Sound Machine and their opening act was The Jets! :rotfl: I then saw Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam the following year...:rotfl2:

I grew up an hour away from Des Moines. We always went to the Iowa State Fair. I also saw my first concert there, although I'm a bit embarrassed to admit who it was. We saw the Oakridge Boys. At the age of 7, I thought it was great. They still have the butter cow, and every year they have something extra. This year it was Shawn Johnson. You know you've made it when you have been sculpted out of butter :)

Hey...that was me that you met!!!! I thought the fair would be a good place to wear my shirt because there were A LOT of people there and someone might Dis.
I wore it to WDW in May at the Mothers Day Brunch and a guy told me that he liked my shirt. I asked him if he read the boards, was I embarrassed when he said he was Pete Werner!!!!! He was so nice and we talked until it was time for our reservation. It was worth being embarrassed to meet him.
Where in Iowa are you from? I live near Cedar Rapids.

Very cool! I've never met a DISer outside of WDW.
As a side note, I was in CR on Monday. I stopped at the Coralridge Mall on my way back to the Quad Cities to pick up a new supply of Glide for my upcoming WDW trip.

You are the first DISer I've ever met, and I wasn't even smart enough to introduce myself. It was a great day for the fair. Hope you had a good time. My sister and two brothers live in Marion. We live in Muscatine. It was great to see you!

We used to live in Coralville. I sure do miss that mall! We are now in Muscatine, and we have to travel to a mall. We tend to go to Davenport, but we like Coralville better. We aren't too far away from each other!

It was fun seeing you too. The weather was great for the fair, but some of the places were busier then WDW. We had to stand for a while to get a deep fried Snickers!!! But it was sure yummy. Not as good as a Mickey Bar, but close.
I think it would be fun to get some kind of Disney Lovers get together here in Iowa!!!! Do you know any others who are hooked? I would love to meet people who are as addicted as I am.
I'm going in December with a new friend who has never been there...she is pretty excited. My husband went one year with me but didn't really like it, so he won't be back.
Marion is really close to me. We live in Springville, but I work at Rockwell in Cedar Rapids so I go through Marion everyday.

If you used to go to The Disney Store at Northpark, you probably saw me there! :wave2: I loved working there...until they were bought out by Hoop Retail.
It's funny - there are lots of Disney fans in the Quad Cities but I never knew that until I started posting on the Disney message boards. Small World!!!

After I get back from my September trip, I'm going to try to organize an NFFC chapter (nffc.org) for Eastern Iowa - interested?

We didn't have anything on a stick. I'm not sure if that makes us fair losers or not, but DH and DD did have some cheese curds.
We are also going in December. It will be just DH and myself. Kiddos are staying home. I think we'll just miss each other on that trip. I'm sure there are more of us from Iowa than we realize.
