dude! I was freaking out at 11:30p last night when that happened. Of course, it made it very hard to go to sleep, but I think it was way worth it! Go Team USA!

I was a competitive swoimmer from age 11 to college and that was the most amazing finish I have ever seen.

I have to admit that France really made a huge mistake in trash talking the Americans.

They should hold their heads in shame for the remarks, but hold their heads high that they did get the Silver.

But we got the Gold! :cool1:

so which olympic sports do you enjoy watching?

so far i've enjoyed watching:
--swimming, both men's and women's
--weight lifting, both men and women- go figure why i enjoy that, but for some reason i do
--women's gymnastics (though not as much as i used to)

that's what i've enjoyed watching so far...

i also love watching equestrian events, but i haven't seen any yet this olympics...

After all of that, the French team appeared gracious and proud on the medal stand, and were a credit to themselves and to their country.

I really have enjoyed the swimming, and always loved the women's gymnastics (though they seemed really spooked yesterday!).

We watched some skeet shooting yesterday which I found fascinating.

I've got the games on in my office this morning... right now, more swimming. I'm just so impressed with the focus they all have!!!

I would agree. They were gracious, as was the American team. I was commenting more on the fact that when statements are made, like the ones the french made, before an competition they tend to backfire because the other team gets fired up and motivated to win.

In this case, I believe the Americans were told just before the relay that the French had made these statements. Maybe this is what motivated them to push harder, I am not sure.

I was very proud to see the USA triumph in that relay!

That was so shocking! That said, I thought they all handled themselves like gentlemen afterwards. ;)

Oh that was so exciting! Way to go USA! I have to say that my favorite event is gymnastics though...but what a stressful start this has been for men's and women's gymnastics! I was so tense last night I actually hurt my neck...and yes, I was only watching this on TV :lmao:

Aside from the "usuals," we've really enjoyed watching badminton. It's very fast-paced, and the athletes need to be quick, in great shape, and have amazing hand-eye coordination

I think the French looked the wrong word up in the French to English dictionary. Smash does not equal LOSE! :lmao:

Jazon Lezak is da man..hard to believe he's considered "old" being in his early 30's!

so which olympic sports do you enjoy watching?

Swimming and gymnastics are my favorites, but I've also enjoyed beach volleyball, indoor volleyball, basketball, and water polo. I'm an Olympics junkie..took the week off of work because I knew I'd be up until midnight every night.

Oh Burberryplaid- you are smart! I should have taken time off. I was exhausted getting up this morning, but it is just to addicting- I end up staying up way too late.

thanks - i knew it had already started, as they've had items about it on BBC and Sky news, but eurosport hasn't covered it...

my guess would be the working in august is the worst offender...a big no no....i assume you must work for an american company (with unhappy french workers)..

What different channels are you finding the Olympics on? I have basic cable (NBC) and Directv (tons of channels) but I'm only finding it on NBC.

i don't live in the US...
we have our local station, plus eurosport, plus two local cable sports stations..
those are the 4 free channels on our tv covering the olympics (eurosport has 24 hour coverage)..

the local cable company also has multiple pay sports channels of which 2 are also covering the olympics, but i don't know what they're covering...

i suppose if i hunted around the dial i might find some others as well, but they wouldn't be in english, so no point in looking...
