I just had to share our Mickey tie-dye shirts. The shirts are for me, my mom, and my 28 year old daughter. We're having a family reunion of sorts at Disneyland at the end of September-beginning of October and will be celebrating my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and my daughter's 6 month wedding anniversary. This will be the very first time we've all been to Disneyland together and we are so excited. My mom helped me make the shirts and I can't wait for the three of us girls to wear them together! :yay:

What awesome T-'s! What color scheme did you use to obtain that effect? Another question...these look like T-shirts to fit women..what brand? Most of the T's I find are too boxy for women.

GREAT JOB!:)

I used two packets of pink dye, Dylon brand (available in several colors at Wal-Mart.) First I mixed the dye twice as strong as recommended for the darkest color, then added enough water to make it the regular pink color for the medium shade, and finally added enough water to make it half strength for the lightest shade of pink. You're right about the fit. The shirts are ladies Bobbie Brooks that I found on the clearance rack at Dollar General for $3.25 each. Dollar General also has some really nice men's t-shirts that are on clearance right now as well.

Honestly, I really don't think I did anything special. I just followed the directions at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=928135. I used dental floss to sew around the Mickey head, pulled it really tight and rubber banded it really well around the head. Also, when you're applying the dye, take extra care to get it down in all of the littles folds and creases.

Good luck to everyone who gives tie dye a try. It's really fun!
