I can't find a thread on this cruise date, so I thought I would start one. We are a party of 3, all adults with a 19 yr. old son also cruising. Would love to meet others with adult children also cruising.

My mom (age 54) and I (age 26) are considering this cruise. It's between this one and one on Royal Caribbean that leaves the same day.
She's been on 3 Disney cruises and I've been on 4. I first went on a 4-night one when I was 18 with one of my friends. Then I got mom started. Since then, we've both been on a 7-night Eastern, 3 or 4-night (can't remember), and 4-night Double Dip (this past May).
We like DCL but are thinking of trying RC for a change of pace. We like the themes of the dining rooms on DCL, but we tend to like "freestyle" type dining better, so on our last DCL cruise, we ate at Palo and in the dining room once, and the rest of the time ordered room service or ate at Pluto's a lot!
The only reason we're hesitant to try RC is that we're afraid we've spoiled by Disney and will be disappointed with the quality and service. Hopefully we'll decide between DCL or RC by the end of the year sometime!

Bumping this up to see if there's anyone else on this cruise since the new "Kids Free" deal came out.
My DH and I will be taking our DD as a surprise for her 11th b-day on the 28th.
Anyone else out there joining us??

Good Afternoon,
Glad to see many posting - looks like there's gonna be a lot of kids on the cruise. This trip is a surprise for my DD - her 11th birthday is on the 28th. It is so hard planning and not being able to talk about it. She is gonna be so excited when she finds out.
So how is everyone passing the time? This will be out frist 3-night cruise - last time we did the 7 night Eastern - has anyone sailed the 3-night before? Any tips you want to pass along?

Hi there,
My DH and I were just looking at the pics from our April 2005 4-night Wonder cruise. I'm guessing this one won't be that different... My kids were 7 (DD) and 5 (DS) at the time and it was all about taking pics with the characters which I highly recommend. The lines were not that bad and there were plenty of opps and different characters available. The Pirate night was fun but really crowded but seeing the fireworks over the ocean was awesome.
As far as tips, the one I have for everyone (that I wish someone had told me the first time) is to wear your bathing suits when you embark. While you will be able to get into your cabin, it could be several hours before your luggage makes it onboard. If you pack a small extra bag and either wear or carry your bathing suits, you'll be able to go right to the pools and get wet!
Oh, one more thing, bring some cash to Castaway Cay. While beach chairs and BBQ are free, if you want water sports "toys" like tubes and rafts, they'll cost extra, as well as alcoholic drinks (waiters will bring them right to you on the beach!) and hair braiding, among other things.
Tammy, make sure you tell everyone (at check in, the wait staff, etc.) its your DD's b-day... I'm sure they'll hook you up!
Maybe my 11-year old DD and yours will get a chance to meet.
I have a question -- anyone planning on going to Nassau/Atlantis? We didn't last time so we're going to check it out this time. Just not sure which package we'll choose. Thoughts, anyone?

I think we are going to the Pirate Museum that morning in Nassau and then spending the day on the ship. Since it is only a 3 day and our 1st cruise EVER, we want to have time to explore the Wonder and enjoy her.

01-12-2009, 06:39 PM
I was going to book the day room at the Comfort Inn at Atlantis, but the cost is just too high (trying to keep this a budget trip). I think we might do the morning catamaran tour - my DH loved the last catamaran we were on (and its the only thing he has asked to do) - this way we'll be back by lunch and should be able to enjoy the ship as well.
Jenn - that would be great if the girls could meet - Brenna loves to make new friends and have someone to play with.
Is anyone interested in doing a mini-meet on boarding day??

Hello,
This is our first cruise and we are celebrating Austin's 11th Birthday. It is also a surprise. I think it is neat that Brenna is also turning 11 and this will be a surprise for her. I hope our birthday kids get to meet on the cruise.
I noticed there are many kids on this 3 day cruise and I am so excited.
Any suggestions for a first time cruiser would be great.

Jenn522
01-27-2009, 09:35 AM
My kids did the club last time and enjoyed it while DH and I had dinner but that was on four-night cruise so there was more downtime. They might want to spend a bit of time there (I'm sure my DS, 9 will be going through video game withdrawal and will need a fix) but I think we'll be so busy they won't get much of a chance. We're planning on spending the day at Atlantis, then of course Castaway Cay. The club is definitely good if you want a break or if you're kids want to meet other kids but personally, I wanted my kids outside enjoying the fresh Caribbean air! :beach:
So it looks like we do have a lot of kids similar in age so I'm all for a meet on the first day if we can coordinate it. Any volunteers? I'll help! :wave2:

p.s. Anyone else sick of this winter weather? We're getting yet another snowstorm here in Jersey. Blech!!

We'll be sailing on this cruise. Our "cast" is: myself, 45, been on 4 Royal Caribbean cruises and Disney freak. Nancy, never cruised and turning 50 on June 1st, she's bringing her son, Brent, who is 11 and has Down's Syndrome. We're very excited about the cruise.
Nancy and Brent are driving down to Florida earlier in the week and meeting me at the airport on 5/27. We'll be spending the night at Pop Century (can't be that close and not go to Disney property) and then at the end of the cruise, Nancy and Brent will be staying an additional 2 nights for Nancy's birthday. She's planning to use the "What Will You Celebrate" free day at the Magic Kingdom on June 1st.
Now, if we could just get rid of all this snow! Yuck! :crazy2:

Yes, I will start getting a master list together to distribute before we leave for our cruise. I won't send out the final list to probably a couple weeks before the cruise for those that have a GTY room (waiting until they get their room assignments). I was thinking since it is a short cruise we just do one FE exchange. You can pick your day to distribute your goodies. I have read some other FE exchanges that are pretty elaborate. I want to make it as easy as possible!! I am open for suggestions!!

I am a cruise newbie so hopefully someone will clarify and add to this post! A fish extender is a set of pockets that hangs from the fish outside your stateroom door. Do a search on the boards for fish extender and you will find everything that you need to know. A gift exchange is where those participating put small gifts in your fish extender for you.
My question is: what kind of gifts?

We are driving down on Memorial Day and staying at Shades of Green for 3 nights. We are going to go over to Fort Wilderness that first evening and enjoy the campfire/movie. Then I think we are doing HS on Tuesday and MK on Wednesday (my birthday).
I don't think we are going to do Palo. This is our first cruise so I don't want to overschedule (I'm very bad about that - I like to plan).
If you're in Cleveland we are practically neighbors. We are right outside Chattanooga and work in downtown. We live about 15 minutes down 24W headed to Nashville, a bit out from everything but still close enough.

DS has full pirate garb that he wore to the pirate & princess party last year but I think it might be two hot...definately the bandanas but not sure yet what else. Hi Everyone - its great to see this thread humming - lots of new faces - this is going to be soooo much fun.
We just returned today from 9 days at WDW - so I spent the last few weeks planning that trip - now that we are home I can jump into planning our cruise - just made my final payment.
This is a surprise for my DD's 11th b-day - her birthday is actually the 28th. We are keeping this a secret until Tuesady the 26th when we leave for the airport and then only telling her things as go - she won't know about the cruise until we arrive at the port. I know there are severalother children her age on this cruise, so hopefully we can somehow get to know each other and i Can tell Brenna about them when we board.
Count us in on the Fish Extender - it will be me, DH and Brenna (DD,11).
I think it would be great to organize a meet on the 28th - we could do 3pm near the goofy pool - that way ythe adults can meet and the kids can meet before going to the clubs. I know Brenna would love to have a friend(s) for the cruise - this will be her first time traveling without her sisters.

Names: Rob, Sharon and our daughter, Lauren. This is our first Disney cruise. We have always wanted to go on a Disney cruise and with the "free" child offer we couldn't resist. I only wish it was a longer cruise. My daughter and I will be on a 7 day cruise in April for spring break on RCI--Voyager of the Seas.
I am anxiously awaiting for May 28th.

Tammy
Hi Tammy! So happy to see so many fellow cruise mates! Our DS is 11 so he and your DD will be in the same group. Micah is excited about his first cruise. He is a Star Wars fanatic and loves animals....wants to be a zoo keeper some day.

Our DS Micah is 11 and is looking forward to the Oceaners Lab. DD is 6 and excited about the kids club.....she has dubbed it "the princess club".

87 days left!!
We are staying after our cruise at WDW..for 10 days!! I am currently on hold to make my ADRS...25 minutes now and still holding! Oh well!
Anyhow..wanted to update everyone of Fish Extender...here is who is participating so far...
basketrn (me) 2 adults 2 children
sshivers 2 adults 2 children
stempel..how many in your group? I just realized we are neighbors...I live in Avon, grew up on east side of Indy
live4christpl 2 adults 2 children...NUT ALLERGY!!!
Like I said before..nothing elborate. I figure we can just do one FE gift for the enitre cruise. What I mean by this is each member will do a FE gift for each of the participates in the FE exchange for one night of the cruise. You can choose what day you want to distribute. Is that ok with everyone? Some do a FE exchange for each night of the cruise, just think that is too much! I am completely open to suggestions!!

Hi everyone,
I'm just popping in since its been awhile. I can't believe May is creeping up on us!
I'm sorry we won't be participating in FE but hope to meet up with everyone on the 28th. It would be great if we (and the kids) can hang out and get to know each other. I'm also not sure how much they'll want to do the kids club and tear themselves away from the sunshine and the waterslide. Maybe at night... We'll see. We are planning on an Atlantis excursion. We regretted not doing it the last time.
We're flying in from NJ on May 22 (my 41st b-day) and staying at Pop Century. Until then I hope the next two months passes smoothly and quickly for everyone. :)

Wow - what a group participating in the FE - I can't what to participate, but need some help on exactly what it is we do.:confused3
We have a great group of kid's the same age - it would be great to all meet and get them together.
I booked my excursions - we are doing the Catamaran Sail in Nassau (my DH's only request of the whole trip) and the parasailing at CC - my DD is going to be thrilled - I did this with her older sister's on our last cruise when she was too young - I can't wait. We might also do the stringrays on CC, but I'm not sure - Brenna didn't like it too much when we did it before in Grand Cayman.
The days are slowly going by - we just added a 3 day stay at Universal to the beginning part of our trip - anyone have any tips for the parks??

I have only made a reservation for the Stingray Adventure. I wanted to make sure that I was able to get an earlier time after reading how the water can get merky later in the day -- we booked 10am. My DH and DD would also like to do the parasailing, but I don't want to fill the day up too much. I'm having difficulty deciding on anything for Nassau; I have heard to stay on the boat and enjoy it and not to miss out on the sightseeing. We know that we will be booking another cruise (a longer one -- I am hoping for the 5 night Key West) while onboard, so what we don't do this time we will do next year.

This is our first cruise so I also don't want to schedule to many things and feel like we are running from one to another. The cruise will be sandwiched in the middle of two weeks at WDW so I want us to just be able to slow down a little here and enjoy ourselves and relax.

Tammy,
Luckily I have a machine, but it is only used for these types of projects.
The only tip that I would have is to have fun with it. I took suggestions on size (I did approximately 8" x 36"), materials that sort of thing from some of the FE's that have been posted on the boards.

Yes she can. And her sensitivity is not to the extreme point. She is okay with items that say processed in a plant that also processes nuts, peanuts. She only has a bad reaction when she actually has nuts or peanut butter directly. She loves the little mini Hershey chocolate bars.
Thanks!

So any plans for us to all meet at some point? We arrive the morning of the cruise and will be driving from the airport (our plane lands at 9am).:thumbsup2 Then staying at WDW for 10 days after the cruise:banana:
I am really torn about flounders also. My son stays at a church daycare so it would not be something new for him, just for me.

I'm thinking I am going to change our stingray time to 11:00 instead of 10:00 AM. Here's what I'm thinking:
Grab breakfast 7:30 AM
ready to get off boat at 8:30 (don't know how long this will take)
See a few characters along the way and not be rushed
Maybe grab a spot at the family beach for a while
Stingrays at 11:00-12:00
Followed by lunch
Kids can go to kids area from about 1:15 - 3:00 while DH and I go enjoy Serenity bay
3:00 - 4:00 - fun on family beach or Montro's point (kids choice)
4:00 head back toward the ship in case we want to stop in the gift shop for a minute.
Still undecided.

Since this is our first cruise of any kind we have decided to do zero excursions. We are going to stay on the ship on Nassau day and just enjoy the beach on CC day. We are really excited just about the activities on the ship. We are doing a Palo dinner on Friday night (Nassau day).

I guess I never thought about the dinning rotation?:confused3 So I don't know :goodvibes
Here is our day at CC (at least the way I have planned in my mind)
Eat early breakfast 7:30ish
Get off boat, stop at gift shop then go to family beach (pick up our tube and scuba rentals for the day)
Hang out at beach and do lunch 11ish
After lunch do the bike rental
Me and DS (8 mos) hang out at the beach more while DH and older DS do stingray at 2p

I hadn't thought of the rotation either, but now that I think about it I would prefer Parrot Cay the first night, but after that I don't know. I'm still trying to decide on main or late dinner seating. We currently have main, but I'm thinking of going to late so we are not rushed to get ready...with two girls it may take a bit longer. We decided to wait on Palos until next year when we have more time...one less thing to plan.
I really haven't planned out our cruise days yet...only excursion booked is the stingrays at cc at this point. I have been planning our three days at WDW prior to departure. Now that Fantasmic is being shown less frequently and it seems park hours have shortened, I have to make sure we don't miss out while we are there.

How old is your DD? (edited to add - I just went back and read your previous post and see that our DD's are the same age) Ours is 6 and I had asked if she could attend the Do-si-do....I know she would really like it. Someone said that she could if one of us take her and sign her in and stay with her since she isn't in that particular age group. So DH & DS are going to do the Animation class that afternoon together as a father/son experience while DD & I get freshened up and changed then we will go to do-si-do as a mother/daughter outing while the boys get cleaned up for dinner.

I found it on the FAQ sticky at top of the cruise plan page. Look under Navigators, the most recently posted are from late February so I think that is pretty close. My copies are on my desk at work but if I remember correctly it is around 4:00ish on Nassau day.....we plan to get off in Nassau first thing in the morning for just a bit......not all day.
Everyone here has said that you can find just as much info here on the DIS if not more rather than buy a book. I went on the cruise page and just started a thread like "First time cruisers....lots of questions" and posted everything I could think of and got great responses. There is also lots of good info on that FAQ thread.
Our DS is 11 so I think he will be in the club with your oldest. We are getting so excited!!!!!! If you are looking for any answers in particular let me know and I'll try to help. This is a whole new learning experience for us too.....we don't want to over plan, but we don't want to waste our time either.

Yes, its getting harder and harder to keep the secret - just this week she came home from school all excited becasue her class field trip is on her birthday - the 28th!! We'll guess what, she won't be there - I'm so torn as what to do - should we tell her or just keep going with the surprise. They do have birth certificates and military dependent picture ID's.
So I am wondering.......how many of you are doing passports and how many of you will just be using the birth certificates for you kids?

I went with the passport book and made sure that my DD's friend got the same...the only issue would be if we needed to fly out of Nassau or thereabouts for some unforeseen reason, the passport book would be required. Not that it would happened, but I'm always planning for everything. Plus, the passport books don't expire until they are 16 or so and I'm sure that we will be doing another cruise or two by that time. That might be something else to think about...you will be able to use the passport book more than the card in the future and it's just a bit more $.

Kinda OT but... on a whim I decided to look for a new bathing suit -- a treat since I just lost 10 lbs+ and wanted something new for the vaca. What a horrifying experience!! The harsh department store lights!!! The pale, pasty skin from a long winter!!! AAAAAAHHHH!!!! :scared1: Plus the stores didn't have much of a selection yet. I've actually got to shop for the kids too -- like, overnight, both of them (DD-11 and DS-9) grew and need everything for spring/summer. Anyone else need to shop for their trip?

I got an Alamo weekly special back in December...mid size for $132/$190 with all fees. I figure that will save a lot of time with returning the rental and getting back to the airport, plus the convenience factor. We rented points for BWV from a friend and saved alot of $, so we are able to go down on the 25th and spend a few days at WDW prior to cruising. We are still tossing around the idea of DVC since BWV is our favorite place to stay.

I think a pair of dress shorts and polo would be fine! That is what my DS will be wearing. I think on the 3 day cruise there really isn't a "formal" night like the other longer cruises.

This is so funny because we are surprising our DS for his 11th birthday also. We received a letter home saying his 5th grade graduation is on the 27th. This will put us about 6 hours behind on leaving for the cruise.
Well at least you are still able to have him attend - bummer that you will be leaving later - I bet you'll be dying to leave thinking the whole time through the ceremony about the cruise :yay: My daughter is so excited about her 5th grade Graduation, although it isn't until June 5th.
When is you DS' birthday?

Ok, it is slowly getting closer. We booked our pre cruise room yesterday. I don't know if I will be able to tear the children away from Storm Along Bay.
Has anyone else considered buying their own snorkeling gear?

On our last cruise we brought along our own masks and snorkels - we didn't bring the fins - I bought decent sets at Walmart and they were fine for what little snorkeling we did. I couldn't get past sharing snorkels knowing that others used them before us :scared1: Although I don't know what happened to them - can't find them, might have to buy another set for us to share :confused3

Dress codes for kids (preteen boys). I'm glad to see that others would rather just do the dress shorts and polo for the boys. I know DS was not going to be happy to be dressy. What is it with this age (11) :confused3.
So dress shorts & polo for dress up night.
I'm curious as to what your boys around the same age will be wearing the other two evenings. I know my DS would rather be in a pair of cargo shorts and a t-shirt.
Thanks,

Julie, here for Nancy (the actual parent)!
Brent, 11 almost 12 (6/9) likes Buzz Lightyear/Toy Story & Cars characters. Although he'd probably be happy with anything but princesses! LOL He's a Down Syndrome kiddo with no known allergies, but has trouble chewing anything that is really hard, chewy and/or crunchy.

Hi May 28th cruisers! Only 6 weeks to go....but who's counting? :goodvibes
This cruise is just DH and I. It is so much fun reading about all of your kids and the fun they will have with their FE surprises. Makes me wish my DD wasn't 20 - except when I think about how much I love Serenity Bay! :woohoo:
DD can't make it because she is in college and summer school starts May 11. DH and I will be celebrating our 3rd anniversary (May 28) on the cruise. This will be our 5th cruise and 4th on DCL. We got married on the RC Mariner of the Seas which was a nice cruise but made us realize how much we love DCL.
Here's wishing all of you a fabulous cruise!

Hi Cristy,

Isn't hard to pack without them knowing - my DD is very fussy with her clothes and I'm trying to buy new outfits without her knowing why. Luckily the dress she picked for Easter will be perfect for the dressy night and I bought her 2 pair of capris for the other nights - now for the tops - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will like what I picked out - if not she'll be the one sitting at dinner - fussing that her shirt is "itchy" :rotfl2:

Not crazy at all - I have a bag sitting next to my bed with all the stuff that I want to take along - I bought all kinds of decorations so I can decorate our door and stateroom for Brenna's birthday. I also have a gift backet that I'm putting together for her as a surprise when we get to the stateroom. I can't wait til the last minute to pack - I buy stuff every week and put it away - that was its not as expensive as buying it all at once. My toiletry pack is already packed and ready to go!!

Planning? Do you all have your days scheduled out or are you just going to play it by ear?
If the most recent navigators are correct I have some things that I know I want to fit in but trying to leave some room for whatever we feel like.
I am hoping that we are on board by noon and have lunch. Then the kids should have a good bit of time to enjoy the pool, maybe look around the ship. Meet up with all our fellow DISers. Then off to grab our life vests for the safety drill.
We are getting off in Nassau early. Plan to be up and meet the princesses at 8:30 that morning then grab a quick breakfast in Parrot Cay and be ready to go ashore at 9:45. In Nassau we are going to try and find a reasonable carriage ride to the Pirate museum and go through it. Then a little bit of shopping before heading back to the boat. There are a couple of things mid day we are going to try to hit onboard. DH and DS are going to go to the Animation class and I plan to take DD to Do-si-do with Snow White.
Castaway Cay we have the stingray encounter booked for 11:00 AM. Plan to spend most of the day on the beach. There are lots of things going on at the Castaway Cay kids clubs that I know they would enjoy. Just not enough time to get them all in.
I can already see that we will probably be chomping at the bit to book another cruise......:wizard:

Hi Cristy,
We are flying down early on the 25th and will be at BWV. We had the same planned for the 26th (DHS) and 27th (MK). The last time I looked Fantasmic is only being shown on 26th. We won't be getting park hoppers this time so we will have to make DHS on that day. Unfortunately we are leaving on the 31st :sad1:, but I may try to fit a park in before heading to MCO since our flight isn't until 7 something.

We're staying at Pop on 5/27 and we're planning to get up and get moving out to the port early-ish on the 28th. I'd love to be onboard enjoying lunch by noonish. Then, we can spend the afternoon in the sun by the pool.
After the cruise, I'm flying home, but Nancy and Brent are staying 2 more nights at Pop, so Nancy can use her free Celebration day on 6/1 to get into the MK for her birthday. Wish I was staying, too.

Do you know if they show the premear in the regular movie theatre or do they show it in the large theatre to accomodate more people?
Tomorrow marks the one month til departure day for us - we had a yard sale over the weekend. The money raised is going towards our trip expenses - so with that I have everything paid for. I'm ready to go!!!

What are your DD's names - how old is your other one? We will have to make sure that the girls meet once we are onboard - it will be great for them to have someone to go to the clubs with. It will be fun for them to have someone to celebrate their birthday with!

Emily will be 11 and my other DD is Ally and she is 7 and 1/2. I have read here on the DIS that they will probably let her go in the older kids club with her sister. I have prepared her for the younger one though. We are traveling with some friends that have 2 DD's age 12 and 9.
We are planning on getting onboard as early as possible so we should be able to meet out by the pool. It will help them to meet kids before they go in the clubs.
Do you have other children besides the DD turning 11?
I noticed you are in PA. We are coming up to Philadelphia and Hershey in late June.

We live right outside of Hershey - are you planning on going to Hersheypark? Brenna's 5th grade field trip is to Philadelphia - the day we leave for the cruise, so I imagine we will be traveling to Philadelphia over the summer to see the things she will miss. Were are you from?
I have 2 older DD's 17 and 19, but they are staying at home this trip - although they aren't too happy about it.
What fun to travel with friends the same age - that will make the clubs alot easier for the girls.

and it driving me bananas not being able to talk about it around here - I'm just so happy :) that I have you guys to share the excitement with.
Great job with the FE gifts - I keep going back and forth with what to do - it will be Hershey related, so hopefully I can get it onboard without it melting. My no-sew FE is all finished, packed and ready to go!!
Tammy
Tammy,
Did you use the directions from the boards for the no-sew one. I can sew a little but I don't like too. I've been going back and forth over what to do. I know how I want to decorate it. Just got to get it done. If you used the directions here does it seem to be pretty sturdy?
Thanks,

I haven't posted in a while, so I thought that I would say hello. We are a family of five sailing on this cruise...we are on the FE gift exchange list.
It will be me, DH, DD (10), DD (8), and DD (3).
Christy, DD (10) loves Hannah Montana and High School Musical, DD (8) loves anything pirate, and DD (3) loves Mickey and Goofy.
We are planning on meeting at the goofy pool at 3 b/c I want the girls to meet others before going to the kids club. It is our first ever cruise so we are all a bit nervous.

Cristy,
I followed the basic instructions here - I would have liked to have sewn one, but my machine died and I never replaced it. I used no-sew glue and it seems to be pretty sturdy. I also hot glued ribbon to the bottom of each pocket to re-enforce it, so I'm hoping it holds.

Hi Andrea,
Good to see you around again - my DD loves Hannah Montana too - don't be nervous about the cruise - you are going to have such a great time. The kids are going to have a blast - we have quite a group of girls in the 10-12 age range.

Since we have agreed to try to meet at 3pm on boarding day, we might want to decide on a specific meeting place - since the area is quite large at the Mickey pool it would be better to determine an exact location so we are not wandering all over the place looking for each other. Anyone have any ideas? Right side of the pool or left - its been a few years since we were onboard, I honestly don't have any suggestions.

I thought about it. Asked the question on the cruise forum. Looked at the travel advisories and it doesn't seem necessary for where we are going. Kids should be up to date anyway. I know DH is as he is military. I'm the odd ball, I think the one that I'd really consider would be the Hep vaccinations but as I understand it, it's a couple of shots over a span of time so probably wouldn't be even effective at this point.

Hi everyone! We are all getting so excited also!!!!!! The kids and I talk about it all the time. DH is not filled with all our excitement but I think he is ready for a vacation.
Marci loves Hannah Montana also and will love having some many girls around her age to hang out with!! (she is 9)
Trying to remember all the last minute things and trying to read up on everything to expect. This is our first cruise ever so I am a little worried about the motion sickness.
If anyone has found any really great tips or trip reports can you PM me or post them here?
Thanks and looking forward to meeting at the pool!

Hi everyone! My 2 DDs (10 and 7) and I will be on this Wonder trip, our 2nd cruise on DCL, but our first since their father and I divorced.
I would love to meet up with the other families here and have some folks to hang out with.
Someone earlier said we should choose a specific location near the Mickey pool. What about right by where the kids go up the stairs to go the slide? I know my girls will be in the pools for sure as soon as we board and grab lunch. In fact, we will already have our swimsuits on under our clothes!

Ami,
For motion sickness the one thing that I found that worked for us, was that we started taking the motion sickness pills a day or two before we cruise and take them at night before you go to bed (that way it won't matter if it makes you drowsy). I did this on our last cruise and didn't have any trouble and we had some rough seas during that trip. On our first cruise, I waited til I was feeling sick to take them and it seemed to take a bit for them to work and I missed our first night (spent the evening in my room).

I buy Bonine and there's dosage information on the package for children 6-12 - you might want to check with your doctor to see what they recommend. My older 2 dd's don't take the pills, but I do give it to my youngest DD since she is prone to car sickness.

Hi all! Just popping in to say Hi and hope everyone's getting ready!! We leave dreary New Jersey exactly three weeks from today, which is also my 41st birthday!!! We'll be staying at Pop Century until the cruise. I finally talked my husband into Discovery Cove and I can't wait!!!
I'm not exactly ready for any of this yet. Bought a few things here and there but we all need some clothes that actually fit!! We had a few weird 90 degree days here so I've already been working on the tan! LOL.
Very excited to meet you all. Looks like my DD (11) will have some good company! I'm sure she'll pack some of her "teen" mags... Jo Bros? Zac? Twighlight? They'll have a lot to talk about!
So we're on for the pool at 3 p.m., right? I know this is a dumb question but should we come up with a distinguishing way to find each other? Name tags? OK, dorky. Other ideas?
Anyway, that's all from me! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi -- just joining this thread...Tammy (dethouge) spotted me on the main cruise line board and told me about the cruise meet thread. I haven't had a chance to look through all 800 pages of posts (just kidding) but maybe later...
We are a family of 4 -- DD9 (Grayson) and DS12(Spencer), along with myself and my husband David. We fly into Orlando on the 25th and are staying for 3 nights at All Star Sports (and will be at the MK on my 43rd bday, which is the 26th -- bday fastpasses here I come!!!) before we drive to Port Canaveral for the cruise. We will probably arrive around 11am -- we may try to get in a ride on Toy Story Mania before leaving Orlando, or we might not bother.
My DH and I have cruised 5 times, and the kids have cruised twice (both times to Alaska) but none of us have ever been on a Disney cruise. It sounds amazing!!!
It'll be fun to meet! Lisa

Do you get something for everyone in a family or just for the kids, or is a family gift acceptable?
Are the gifts going to be of the relatively simple or the more elaborate variety? I don't think that I'll have time at this point to be too clever!
Is it too late to join?

Howdy neighbor - how cool is that we are next to each other!!
About the FE exchange - I don't think its too late to join, Dawn has gracioulsy been keeping the list for us and she just sent an update out - if you want to join, let her know soon so she can add you. The gifts can be whatever you choose - you can do individual ones or one per family - they can be simple or elaborate, there really is no right or wrong - just a fun way to exchange token gifts - this is a budget trip for us, so our gifts are something local, but not overly expensive. Don't let the cost keep you from the exchange - just have fun with it and do what you can!!
