Well, I just got the best news.

Disney has upgraded us from an inside (Cat 11) to an outside (Cat 7) with a Navigator's Verandah! Now, I really can't wait.

So, if you have the most updated FE list, please change our stateroom number to 7021. We are Mickeefan: Julie, Nancy & Brent.

I'm going to be sure Basketrn knows about this change, too.

See you all in about 3 weeks!

:goodvibes Congratulations Julie! Can't wait to set sail!!!!!

Lisa,

Howdy neighbor - how cool is that we are next to each other!!

About the FE exchange - I don't think its too late to join, Dawn has gracioulsy been keeping the list for us and she just sent an update out - if you want to join, let her know soon so she can add you. The gifts can be whatever you choose - you can do individual ones or one per family - they can be simple or elaborate, there really is no right or wrong - just a fun way to exchange token gifts - this is a budget trip for us, so our gifts are something local, but not overly expensive. Don't let the cost keep you from the exchange - just have fun with it and do what you can!!

Tammy

I've moved from the neighborhood -- I just checked my reservation and I've been upgraded to cat. 8 from cat. 11, and I'm now on Deck 5! I pm'ed Dawn and she replied to say that I'm now in the FE exchange!

No upgrades for me yet!! How early did you book your trip. I wonder if they base it on who books first.

Several people stated that they got cruise documents from UPS lately. What was in those? I have not received anything lately. Just wondering if I am missing something.

Thanks!

Ours came. It was a flat envelope with a booklet inside with all our boarding passes, luggage tags, etc.

Congrats to everyone who got upgrades - guess I need to be happy for my cat 11 from the cat 12 I booked  at least I'm on the ship

We leave 3 three weeks from today - so tomorrow I can say 2 weeks and 6 days - wow, that sounds close.

My poor DD is working on a getting her end of year school work done and she has no idea why - the teacher is giving her additional things to do and she is the only one with the extra work, Bless her heart she really hasn't asked why, just does the extra work - I'm feeling really guilty about it - hopefully when we get on the cruise it will make it all worthwhile and she'll understand ;)

So are we all set to meet by the steps to the slide at the Mickey pool - from the pictures I've seen this is also near Pluto's snack stand - anyone give any more thought to something we could wear that would let us know that we are looking for each other? Maybe a lime green ribbon or something easy like that?

We are getting closer and closer.

Have had lots of fun today working on some things to add to my FE bags. :goodvibes

Also have been busy making some shirts for our WDW trip and the cruise. The are going to look great thanks to the great DISigners on the creative disign board.

I am hoping for an upgrade. :lovestruck: But I did just put in a note to my TA to see what DCL is charging for one. If I can get a bargain, I might go to a verandah.

My DDs are out of school on the 29th, so they won't be missing anything. In fact, come the 27th (we leave that night) they will have already turned in the textbooks so the classes won't be doing much learnin'

Yesterday was a great day! We received our cruise documents and Disney waived ROFR, so we are now owners at SSR! :cool1::cool1:

I am hoping to meet up with everyone at 3pm. Although, I will have 2 girls that may have other ideas and I also would like to attend the DVC gathering, so we will see how it all works out.

Anyone needing to bring an extra suitcase for all the FE stuff? I am contemplating whether to take an extra bag/suitcase or to ship it to the resort ahead of time. I'm sure that we would be able to fill it back up with all the souveniors the girls will buy, but that would be one more bag to check.

Only 17 more days till WDW and DCL!!!

Congrats on the SSR news!

I just finished up on my FE stuff -- I think I'll pack it all in a carryon roller bag. I tried to keep it all pretty small but I don't think I'll be able to fit everything into my regular suitcase.

For those wondering about the upgrade, I have no idea if upgrades are given to those who reserved first. I reserved my Cat. 11 sometime around Dec. 15th. I did use Dreams Unlimited-- perhaps since they are such a big agency with lots of bookings maybe you are more likely to get upgraded if you use them? I really don't know but I am happy about it!

For the ones that have kids with birthday's on the cruise, are you doing things to make it more special? My daughter wants all of her presents before the cruise. I plan to save somethings to give her that day. She doesn't like regular cake so I am not ordering her a cake. I did buy some decorations for our stateroom. I know that Disney will sing to her at meals. I think I am stressing over this too much.:scared1:

My DD's birthday is the day we sail - we arrive in Orlando on Tuesday and are spending 2 nights at Pop Century - I will decorate our room and window with signs and lights to celebrate her day. We are eating at Crystal Palace on Wednesday to celebrate as well. I made her a special shirt saying "today's my Birthday" that she will wear, along with her Disney birthday button and birthday mouse ears. She is getting an ipod as her present and we will give that to her Thursday morning at breakfast. My older DD is going to put cruise themed songs on it for me. So she will have it to use while we drive to the port. We have a towncar taking us to the port and during the drive I am going to give her a letter from Captain Mickey inviting her on the cruise and a stuffed Captain Mickey. When we board I am going to ask them to announce her birthday as well. When the staterooms are ready I am going to decorate our room and door with signs and streamers. I made her a cruise theme gift basket that I will put in our room as well. I know they get a cake at dinner and will sing.

Just wanted to see if you all had DCL or your travel agent note on your reservations that you are celebrating a birthday. You don't have to order a cake that you pay extra for. From what I understand if it's noted they will bring something special for dessert for the birthday member.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Can't wait to meet you all!

We did make note of her birthday. I am also celebrating my birthday that is on the 21st. It is a scary one!! :scared1: I wanted to be in Disney for my birthday because you can't really grow up in Disney. That was the whole reason that we planned the cruise but we waited a week because some friends wanted to join us.

They will bring her a cupcake and sing plus whatever dessert she wants. They sell cakes and decoration but I think she will have enough sweets.

I keep worrying about it all but what could be better than being on a Disney cruise ship for your real birthday.

I can't wait to meet everyone too.

We just received ours on Wednesday. We went through our TA for the cruise and the documents were sent to her instead of directly to us. On Monday she said that if nothing was received by the next Monday she would be checking on them. Of course our dining is wrong...we wanted late and got early. I'm hoping this can be changed.

I got ours. Well, I got mine. They had a different address for the kids, so they went to their dad's house, but he has them for me. I have to change all the luggage tags though. I decided at the last minute to upgrade to a Cat. 6. I started thinking I wanted to try out a balcony, then I realized that I hadn't paid a dime toward this cruise. Their dad paid the deposit before we divorced, and he didn't want to be reimbursed, and my stepmother paid the balance. So in the end I paid $540 for the upgrade. Right now I have a GTY Cat. 6, so I am checking the site every darn day to see when I get a cabin, and what it is. :goodvibes

Pirate night.

Okay, what are you all doing? All out pirate (full costume), some pirate accessories, or no pirate at all?

DS will probably want to wear his pirate costume.....just wondering if he will be the only kid his age dressed as a pirate. DD will not do pirate!!!!!! Though I do have the cutest picture of her two years ago at DS's birthday party (pirate themed, treasure hunt)....she has on the pirate bandana, drawn on mustache and gottee, her swim suit and a grass skirt.

What about adults? Anyone dressing up?

Can't wait to sail.

I bought the children pirate shirts. Dh and I have pirate shirts too. That is the most we are doing. I am sure my boys would gladly wear their pirate costumes, but due to packing room and time I didn't want to bring them along. Hopefully we will receive the bandannas.

No pirate costumes for us - just couldn't come up with anything - we'll do more the tropical theme.

My girls have pirate costumes. Whether they will wear them or not again this year remains to be seen, but they will be squished in the suitcase. We also all have pirate accessories, so I will definitely be seen with bandana, eye patch and hook!

It is just me and my 2 girls, so I am hoping that we are seated with another family. Wouldn't it be cool if it was someone from the DIS?

Last year we were 4 people and we got a table by ourself, but we were really close to another table with a couple and their two (younger) daughters. We chatted a lot, and my two girls entertained their two (and of course were entertained themselves), so it was always a nice dinner.

My cruise documents went to my travel agent and then to me. Maybe that is why you haven't received them yet.

We are going to dress up some for pirate night. My girls both have some old dance costumes that are red and white. I think they are going to wear them with some red hats that I have ordered from Oriental Trading. Not sure about my DH and I. I guess it depends on how much time I have for it before we leave.

Is anybody dressing up for the last night?

We all will be wearing some type of bandana -- my DD9 has a pirate bandana with Goofy's ears that she likely will wear, unless she gets too embarrassed in which case I will wear it!

I'm also tempted to wear my light blue and white striped capri pj bottoms (they don't look too much like pjs) which really do look pirate-ish but the kids are threatening mutiny if I do! We'll see...

Hi everyone! We are getting closer! Today is my last day of after care.....last full day of school for the kids. DD goes for a 1/2 day Monday & Tuesday and then has graduation from K5 Tuesday evening. DS will have to go a 1/2 day Mon, Tues, & Wed. Then he has class day on Thursday morning, should be done by 10:30.

Thanks to those of you who had your kids post on DS's thread. He's at school now, it looks like we are in for thunderstorms this afternoon which means aftercare will be inside so I'll let him go online and check his thread. I'm sure he will post back so keep a look out.

He cracks me up with all the smilies. I asked him why he used the angry smiley (he was trying to use them all). So then I look back and see he posted "I do not have anger issues". Yesterday I asked him why he posted that and he said "because I used the angry smiley". :rotfl: Kids, gotta love 'em.

I am so excited, but I feel like I have a million things to do before we are ready to go. It doesn't help that I am going out of town for Memorial Day, which presses my time. My kids and I are flying out Wedensday night before the cruise, so I took that day off (thank goodness!) and my to-do list for that day is getting longer, and longer, and longer. LOL

Since we are only spending 2 days before the cruise at WDW, I'm packing one suitcase for Brenna and one suitcase for DH and I. I have one suitcase (or rolling duffle bag, can't decide) with all the misc stuff that I am taking. I am taking my DD's Vera Bradley large tote as my carry on with our swimsuits and stuff we'll need once we get to the resort. I will use that as my carry on for the cruise as well.

I finally bought the last things for our trip: flip flops!! Everyone needed new ones (in addition to shorts, shirts, bathing suits!) Darn kids, growing every year! LOL! Plus my weight loss... Anyway... I can officially say I am done shopping (minus some odds and ends).

Packing?? What's that?? LOL!! Haven't even started!! Luckily, most of it will go from shopping bag to suitcase.

We're leaving this Friday (my 41st birthday) for Pop Century. But I am so stressed because we have a ton of things going on this week I have to get through. My DS's science project that's due June 1 , FALL cheerleading registration for my DD (why do we have to do this NOW???), haircuts, a school Art Fair.... :upsidedow

Just arranged for neighbors to feed the cat. Dogs will go to dog sitter. So much to think about.

Guess we'll see you all very soon! Hope everyone has safe and hassle-free journeys!

I am having a hard time with this one too. It is overwhelming to think of packing for 5 for a three day cruise and then 3 days at Disney after. I am thinking of doing some laundry when we get to our resort.

We are going to the parks for 3 days beforehand -- I am packing a WDW only suitcase, a cruise only suitcase plus one more (small) that has all of the FE gifts, plus 2 suitcases for our week in Florida post-cruise (and there will be a few backpacks as well). I agree that it is a pain to pack for the different parts of the vacation but I think that it will be easier than packing one suitcase per person like I usually do.

Well, that is what I started doing last night. I have started a cruise suitcase and then I will do a parks luggage. We will have access to a washer and dryer in our villa but it still makes me crazy just trying to keep it small.

My trip is the Wonder (flying in the night before) plus 6 nights in Orlando with my parents at their timeshare. We have a (free!) washer/dryer in the timeshare, so laundry will be easy.

What I am doing is packing 3 check-in bags (might as well take 3 since I don't have to pay for the 1st bag for each person). One large one will hold all the WDW stuff, and the two smaller ones will have the cruise items. We are driving to port, so I will leave the large one in the car and just take the two smaller ones on board.

I learned from the last cruise that I packed way two much stuff. We spent most of our days in swimsuits, with shorts thrown over, and then we changed for dinner. So, not much to pack there. In fact, one suitcase will be filled with the photo mat for signatures, costumes (pirate and princess!), swimsuits, and sunscreen. :rotfl:

I'm going crazy waiting for the time to pass. We don't leave until Tuesday morning and I can't pack clothing until Monday while my DD is out of the house. I'm making lists becasue I can't stand waiting til the last minute to pack. I'm so afraid that I will forget something - I wish we were leaving earlier. Heaven help me get through the next few days.

We watched the Wonder sail yesterday on the Radisson web cam then pass the Two Plams cam - I had tears in my eyes - kept thinking its leaving and will come back, then leave again and come back, leave again, then come back and then it will be our turn to get on - how pathetic am I? :rotfl:

I'm planning to pack on Friday and finishing up on Monday. I'm flying in a day early and staying at Pop Century on Wednesday night. I'm so excited about cruising DCL. I've only cruised on RCCL.

So, are we having an informal meeting on Thursday near the Mickey or Goofy pool? What time are we meeting? Can't wait to meet you all. Not long now.

We leave for Port Canaveral exactly 1 week from today! I started "making piles" last night, finished my FE, and wrote out my lists. I now truly feel like we are going on vacation. For those who are doing this as a secret, I admire you...I couldn't stand it! See you at the Mickey pool in 9 days!

One question about the FE exchange...do we just pass out our gifts whenever or is there some sort of schedule as to when to do that? I am so excited about passing them out that we will probably do it first thing, if we can.:yay:

I'm sitting here thinking - this time next week we'll be at WDW - Keeping this a secret is killing me. My DD caught me last night organizing my bags and asked what I was doing  Told her I was getting ready for this weekend's soccer tournament. Guess I better be careful - I think she might have an idea, but I don't see how she would know unless she looked at my travel book with all our confirmations and such.

I think we'll hand out our FE gifts Friday morning on our way to breakfast - that way it will give the kids something to wake up to - this is going to be so much fun!!!

Looking forward to meeting everyone on Thursday at the Mickey Pool!!

From what I understand, that is very typical this time of the year and is basically the "standard" forecast. The rain usually amounts to an afternoon storm lasting around 1 hour, and it will be widely scattered. The storm that has been lingering in Florida for the last several days is an unusual occurrence and should be gone by the time we get there.

No worries!!!

Tammy,

She really looked like she was having a good time. And, by Sunday at breakfast, she looked really tired, so I know she had a good time. It was great meeting you. That's exciting that you booked for next year. I think I'll probably stick with Royal Caribbean. We spent a week in WDW too. Just got back last night.

The cruise was awesome! (Save for the icky weather). We missed the cruise meet thread meetup. DDs were exhausted. Out flight the evening before the cruise (thank goodness I always fly in the day before) was two hours late because of east coast weather, so we didn't get into MCO until 12:30. Great pictures!!!!! I'll try to get around to posting some this week. Very limited to what I can do here from work. Haven't even had time to get online at home. Your kiddos are so cute! Love the picture of them on deck.

So who else is missing being waited on and all your meals prepared, etc.?

Every evening DS says, "I miss Ralph."

Ralph was our server. He and Agnelo (our assistant server) did a fantastic job of taking care of us. Ralph would come by with the ketchup and make hidden Mickey's on the saucer for the kids fries. They loved it.

We had a great stateroom host as well. The first night we had a turtle towel animal. The 2nd night the kids thought we hadn't gotten one as there was not one on the bed, but it was hanging from a hanger on the divider, it was a monkey. Then the last night we got a dog wearing shades. DS had stopped and thanked Herbert for leaving the towel animals and told him how much he was enjoying finding a different one each night. So our last night he came and showed DS how to make them, they make it look really easy but I don't think I could do it.

So who else is missing all the wonderful service????

I am definitely missing the unlimited amount of food. Due to unforeseen circumstances I still haven't made it to the grocery store since we came home. I have been tied to our house because of maintenance issues. Hopefully I can make it there today. Ha!

I miss everyone getting a different meal that they wanted while I didn't have to cook 4 different things!

I'm missing the yummy drinks!! My dh and I were sitting at our town pool this past weekend basking in the only brief moments of sunshine we've had in Jersey since we got back and said "What's wrong with this picture??? Oh yeah... we need frozen drinks in our hands!"

I'm also missing eating like it didn't matter. Back home = back to no carbs!! Aaaaahhhh, it was nice while it lasted!!

Yep, Herbert our stateroom attendant was great! Our dining room service team was just okay. I think they were a new team and had not quite gotten their groove together yet.

I miss being on vacation, period. Being back home means running errands, cleaning, cooking, yard work, sporting events, etc. I came home to a family of baby birds who had made their home in my dryer vent!! :rotfl: So, I spent some time at the laundromat last week. What a way to get back into the swing of things. :confused3

I've been meaning to ask on here...Did anyone go to Adult Karaoke on the ship on Friday night? My husband and I sang and we had the BEST time!! It was so fun, but we were bummed because obviously we have no proof that we actually did it. It would have been great to have gotten a picture, but of course we have no pictures because we were by ourselves. I'm sure no one takes pictures of random people they don't know singing karaoke, right? :rotfl: So, if you just happened to take a picture of a random goofy couple singing karaoke on Friday night, let me know because it might be us and I'd love a copy! Long shot, I know :rotfl2:

What was your favorite show?

We went to all three with the last one, Disney Dreams, being my favorite. If we go again and it's the same shows running I'd skip the first two. DD did get interviewed on the red carpet and I enjoyed the clips but overall I didn't think it was great.

Who else stayed up and watched the 12:01 showing of UP???? We were so tired.

I'd say that Disney Dreams was my favorite, too. I enjoyed the others, but I really liked the last one.

We didn't stay up to see "Up" at midnight, but we saw it on Friday. It's great, isn't it?

We saw "Hannah Montana" on Saturday afternoon. I didn't think I'd ever see that, but it was actually okay.

We liked UP. I have to admit though I was crying within 10 minutes of the movie. Lost my mom in January so it kind of really choked me up a bit. Especially since we had tried to get my dad to come with us this trip and he didn't want to.....made me think of him at home alone (he wasn't really, my brother & sister are nearby). I do want to see it again though as we were so tired there are parts I think I dozed through.

That's the only movie we watched on board. There were just way to many things to do. DS was always conflicted with wheter he wanted to stay in the club or go watch the show. DD on the other hand wasn't crazy about the club and didn't particularly care to go back after the first night.

We never saw Up on board. Either we were too tired, or we were doing something else. I thought the times they were showing the movie were odd.

In any case, we saw HM (again) on board. I think it was the Saturday show, since CC was kind of a washout. We stayed on the beach until the wind kicked up after lunch and the kids said they were cold.

I definitely miss all the waiting on and attention, not to mention the cold drinks and yummy food.

Okay, I'll admit it, I've got the cruise bug bad now.:goodvibes

The 5 day specials next summer with the double stop at Castaway Cay are looking really good to me. We loved Castaway Cay even though it rained on us part of the day.

Sent in a request for a quote. We'll see what comes back.

Though I don't think I can talk DH into another one for a couple of years, I'm still curious.

Where did you find info on the specials? I looked at the disney cruise website and couldn't find anything.

Count us among those who got bitten by the DCL bug with the 3 day cruise -- I'll bet Disney gets a lot of future business off of the kids sail free promotion!

Regarding the cruise, we had a fabulous time -- we all loved "Up" (and I cried, too!), which was nice because both of my kids wear glasses and typically have a problem w/ the 3D glasses, which give them headaches, but both were fine w/the upgraded glasses at the show. I liked Disney Dreams and the 1st show a lot, but we didn't do the 2nd since we had seen "Up" a bit earlier in the day and we didn't feel like sitting through another show. We did the stingray feeding on Castaway Cay which was fabulous -- the rays kept swimming around our legs even after the feeding was over! And we took a really nice bike ride around the island before the rain came.

Glad everyone had such a great time and thanks for all of the FE goodies!!!!!!!!

Hey Everyone - glad to see everyone made it home safely and that you enjoyed the cruise. 3 nights was definetely not long enough.

I just booked the 5-night, 6/22/10 cruise for me and my DD as a HS graduation present. Since she will be going off to college in the fall, I thought it would be nice for us to spend some time together. While onbaord we re-booked for 11/27/10 for DH, me and youngest DD. 2 cruises in one year - I'll be in heaven.

We saw the premiere of "UP" - Dh and DD liked it - I feel asleep and gave up half way through - I'm a morning gal, not a night owl. Did see Hannah Montana though. We wanted to see Earth but never made it.

Disney Dreams was our favorite as well.

Many thanks for the FE gifts - that was a highlight of the trip - my DD had so much fun giving and receiving!!

Here are the dates for the 5 night.

Not any special prices yet though......my quote was over $3000 for a cat 11 :scared1: so I'll wait and see (more than 3x what we paid for this 3 night).

We had changed our sting ray encounter to 11:00 and they ended up canceling everything from 11:00 AM on so we didn't get to do it. We still had a great time though.
