after dinner at a local pizza joint - by DH and 2 DS's wanted to walk home - my DS6 comes in crying and my DH is getting annoyed with him. DS ended up tripping over his own feet - not watching where he was going
so i take DS upstairs and get him into the tub to make his elbow feel better - he told me it hurts and wants to go to bed - (i knew we were in trouble - since it was only 6PM - and he NEVER wants to go to be early)
he continues to cry and DH tells me that i am just babying him - but as a mother i knew something wasnt right -
i get DH to take him to the emergency room for an x-ray
and i just got the call that he shattered his elbow and that they are headed over to the childrens hospital for a specialitst to look at it.
my poor peanut.
so take my mind off the waiting and help me to come up with scrapbook titles - YES - OF COURSE I AM GOING TO TAKE PICTURES - ISNT THAT WHAT A MOTHER/CRAFTER DOES?

thanks for listening to a nervous mother

Oh man Jennifer! Let me know if there is anything I can do. Poor baby!!!

Children's is a good hospital though, DS12 had to go there for some neuro testing once.

Keep me posted and please don't hesitate to call me if you need anything, DH is home for the rest of the month so I can be there in a jiffy.

oh buffy - your the greatest - i knew you would be on here to keep my mind off things
We love the childrens hospital - Tyler goes there for him heart murmers.
i didnt even think about school - i wonder how long he will have to have the cast on -
i guess i can get some scrapping done and take a few days off next week - i am sure he is going to be in a lot of pain.
i will have to remember to get a note from his doctor so i can take family and medical leave for a few days
so much to do

when my friends son broke his elbow he was in a cast for I think 8 weeks. I hope this doesn't interfere with the HARC trip. Which BTW Lisa, has a bunch of stuff for you.

I will ask my friend tomorrow how long Bear was in his cast. What can we do in the mean time? Can the boys make him a get well basket with quiet games or something? Is it his writing hand?

oh buffy your so sweet.
thank goodness it was not his writing hand!!!! do you think you can still vacume with one bad elbow - just kidding - guess i will have DS2 take over the vacuming.
and btw - NOTHING -will keep me from disney -
i keep meaning to ask you - are you coming home from scraping and then heading back ? what gives? how did you manage that???? lucky girl

Shattered elbow?
Ouch.

That'll be more than a bandaid. And you can use that as your topper "More than a bandaid".

Yep, I will be gone 2 weekends in a row. I got a great rate from the Dolphin and DH got a good airfare deal. We are taking DD down alone, we wanted to start doing individual trips for each of the kids and the High School Musical show at MGM is over Sept 13 to make way for the new HSM3 show. DD loves HSM and she knows all the songs by heart so we decided to do a quick trip before the show was gone.

I think we might end up skipping WDW this xmas because I am pulling the kids out of school for 2 weeks in April to go to Tennessee. I think we might do Disney too if I can time it right.

Many, many, many hugs, prayers and pixie dust!!!

My niece had a similar experience, tripped over herself and hurt her arm. My SIL's sister is a pediatric nurse and told her she was probably fine. The next day she was still in pain so SIL took her in and she had a broken bone! Mommys know best!

When my eldest was a little bit, he fell off the bed and hurt what we thought was his arm. Took him to the doctor, they said he was fine that it was probably just bruised. But eldest cried every time we tried to pick him up. Called the doctor back and he okay'd xrays of his arm/elbow. The nurse doing the xrays said, lets just do one a little higher too. And sure enough, broken collar bone. They send us to Cincy's Childrens. He has to be seen by a specialist. The specialist looks at the xray, looks at my child, doesn't touch him and sends us back out the waiting room. :confused3 Hour later they call us back in and a male nurse puts a cut ace bandage on his arm and wraps it around his neck and then puts him in a little sling. This took us SEVEN hours from waiting for the xray to the making of the sling. I could have done the same thing if I knew what needed to be done.

Can you tell he was a little spoiled? Our entire basement at the old house was his play room.

well they finally came home this AM at 3:30AM he was so tired!!! But stll up at 7:30 - both my boys are up at the crack of dawn.
anyway.... he seems to be in good spirits, not too much pain, being able to watch HIS shows with out brother asking to change the TV -- looking forward to taking care of my little guy today. we have to go back to the children's hospital on monday to see if he needs a hard cast - just has a soft cast on right now -- i already took some pictures (even though he is in his undies)- will take a few later when he has more clothes on and will post one

thanks for all the kind wishes.

Even though they told you "shattered" elbow, it sounds more like a clean break if he is in a soft cast. I was afraid you would be looking at major surgery with titanium pins & things.

Give him a hug from his cyberaunts.

Oh, Jenn. That poor boy, and poor you. A mom always worries. Children's is great as you already know. I hope the pain subsides quickly.

I do have some goodies for your ARC group. Wonderful work was sent to BAMB, and Lovingthemouse contributed as well. :woohoo: I can hold onto it until the next crop, or if you can swing by Glastonbury tomorrow after your appt, I could give it to you then. Email me.

Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Ya gotta smile at that impish grin. (Little does he know he gave Mom 10 grey hairs this weekend) He looks so cool with his hand in the pocket of his cargo shorts and his tough macho cast and sling. What a sweetie, all boy!
