:flower1: I didn't see a thread started for this cruise, but if there is one, just let me know!

I just booked this Land/Sea Cruise for DH and I to celebrate our 15th anniversary next August. Our anniversary is actually on the 20th so that works out well. :rotfl:

More details later if there are others to share with. :flower3:

Happy Anniversary!!

We got married on the exact same day 8/20/94. Today makes 14 years for us!!

We are celebrating our 15th next year with a cruise in October, with another family...would have loved to go on our actual anniversary!

I can remember our wedding day like it was yesterday. How quickly time flies!! Did you go to WDW for your honeymoon?

Tonight at dinner I will.

Dinner last night at The Melting Pot was wonderful. I did not take my camera so no food porn, sorry!

A big thank you TyRy for the Ivory soap idea!

Here is what I did, after each course at dinner I presented David with a present wrapped in silver and gold paper.

First course- Fabulous cheese fondue and salad- then he opened the traditional 14th wedding anniversary gift, which is ivory-

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a187/stagemomx3/IMG_8499.jpg

Second course- The meat course, we chose to cook ours in the traditional broth, the filet mignon was especially delicious- then he opened the modern 14th anniversary gift, which is gold-

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a187/stagemomx3/IMG_8500.jpg

Dessert course- Bananas foster- which is white chocolate fondue with carmel and bananas in it- then he opened the "real" present-

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a187/stagemomx3/IMG_8501.jpg

The back of the postcard had our travel information on it.

His first question was "With the kids?" When I told him no, he said "Sweet." He likes the plan very much, he has always wanted to go on a cruise.

Hi all,

We're going on this cruise as well. It will be myself, DF, my DD9 and DF's aunt and uncle and their DS8. DF and I just got engaged back in July and we're seriously thinking of having a surprise wedding while we're cruising. We don't have anything booked yet and I'm in the middle of getting ready for my brother's wedding, but I am going to look into it next week. I'm crossing my fingers that I am able to book something. It will be a total surprise though, because we're not telling anyone about it. Not until the day we marry. Haven't figured out the details yet though. We just want something very intimate.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

We are booked for a land (Poly)/sea DCL August 16-23! Glad to see that there are others who are going too! It will be myself, DH, and DS (11). It is our first cruise and the first time we are staying at the Poly. We are really looking forward to this vacation.

It is nice to know that there are others here on the boards that will be taking the same trip. Look forward to getting to know you all!

Anyone have any ideas on what excursions you will be booking?? We are looking to book the hike/kayak excursion at castaway cay and renting snorkeling equipment. Thinking of just staying on the ship and enjoying it when we pull up to port in Nassau.

Take care!

Hi there...

I'm definately going parasailing on Castaway Cay...and hopefully snorkeling. We're getting married on Nassau day, so I'm not sure of what my timelines will be like, but I hope to get to Atlantis.

Hello!:wave2:
We booked this cruise this morning (got home at 4 am this morning - got off of the Magic yesterday). As long as this sailing qualifies for the bounce back offer (we'll find out on April 6-found out on the board today that you can book now, alter later), we'll be sailing with all of you. Our cruise last week was with our kids/my parents, but this one will be just the two of us. We had a great time last week (our first Disney cruise), so it didn't take much to convince us to cruise with them again...and coming back to cold and snow last night sealed the deal! :thumbsup2
We're also Canadian - we live in NS.
Looking forward to counting down the time with all of you!

Add us to the list. :)

We were originally scheduled for the 6/18/09 Wonder but decided to spend that time at WDW so we switched the cruise til 8/20/09. Traveling will be my DH (52), me (Jennifer, 40) and our DS (15). This will be our second cruise on the Wonder.

After a huge mix up with DVC.... We're in!! There will be 7 of us! 1st Cruise for the 7. Sister and her family also going, so really 10 of us! They have cruised 6 or 7(?) times before. Been to WDW many times but never on the cruise! Don't know what to expect on the cruise, but going with the flow! Should be fun!

Count us in too! There's 10 of us in our group.

Myself, DH, DD-13, DD-8, DD-2, Nephew-5, Niece-13, DSister, Friend and Friends DS-11.

It's our 3rd cruise, Sisters & Nephew's 2nd, Niece, Friends and FDS 1st!

We are all excited. So far we've only done Members Only cruises so I'm really excited about our stop in Nassau. So far it's only been determined that some of us will do the Dolphin Swim at Blue Lagoon but some will be observers. :goodvibes

Look forward to getting to know all of you!

Hello!
Just checking in - how is everyone's trip planning going? We are starting to think about excursions - definitely heading to Atlantis for the day, and as far as CC, I think we'll just book stuff when we get there. We aren't opposed to being a couple of beach bums for the day, so we don't want to schedule anything in the event that we just want to explore at our own pace that day. We definitely want to check out Serenity Bay (couldn't do it on the last cruise because we had DD(3) and DS(1) in tow), and might try to book a massage. Have any of you been to Atlantis before? Anything not to miss? I had thought about hitting the straw market, but I have heard some mixed reviews. I am also hearing that the ship has been staying in port until 2 am at times? Any chance that might happen for us? That might be neat!

Hope you are all enjoying the pre-cruise phase! We keep talking about it on a daily basis - we refer to it as "our trip to the dentist" - can't let DD know we're going without her, or we will be in BIG trouble! lol!

I'd like info on Nassau and Atlantis as well. We've never been either. So far only memebers only cruises and they stopped at Key West once but otherwise just CC.

I can definitely say being a beach bum at SB is WONDERFUL!!!!! DH and I fell asleep in one of the hammocks for a few hours. It was soooo peaceful. I'm just glad we woke up in time to get back on the boat. :rotfl: We haven't done massages but I heard they are nice.

Hello All,

I was wondering if any one be interested on doing a Fish Extender exchange. The reason it is called fish extender is because you hang some sort of hanging organizer on the Fish Hanger outside your cabin door. Here is a little more information regarding the exchange.

*Fish Extenders Gifts – Any small to medium sized item you like. Maybe something like pencil with your state on it, small note pads, playing cards, kids toys, etc. Most people will bring something that represents where they are from. You can choose how often (once, daily, etc) you would like to distribute your gifts...there is not hard set rule for what you give, how often you give or anything, it is all up to what you want to do.

Process: I would compile a list with Name, Room Number, Number of adults, Number of kids and hand out at a DIS meet on the ship to those participating. You could PM me this info. DIS Meet location TBD.

Please let me know if you would like to participate. I've been a part of something like this in the past and it really is a lot fun to come back to your room and find something there. The kids love it! You will definitely get a chance to possibly see every deck. :goodvibes

I just made my final payment so I can book excursions and whatnot tomorrow (90 days out) but I still have no idea what I want to do. We're not big fans of Nassau and I'm thinking of just staying onboard and enjoying the ship that day. We may do Palo if I can talk DH into it...he doesn't want to dress in anything more formal than cruise casual.

We're flying down early on the 19th so now I have to decide whether to stay at WDW or head over to port. I hate being so close and not at least hanging out at a Disney resort for a day.

My 15 year old HATED Aloft last year. He said that everyone was hanging out being boring. I was so disappointed because I expected him to spend more time there so that DH and I could be alone. Ah, the perils of having an only child! He said that he'd give it another chance this year but he wouldn't give me any guarantees. Gotta love him. :)

I booked the kid on the teen excursion on Castaway Cay (he loved that last time) and DH and I for Palo on Nassau night. I think that's it for us this time.

I know it currently says that we leave Nassau at 7:30 (or something like that) - anyone hearing anything more on them departing later (e.g. midnight or later)? I had heard that they were doing that on some sailings - just wondering if it is becoming a more regular thing, or if it is very sporadic.

Add us to the 8/20 cruise. We booked a while ago, but I just found this thread. It will be me, DH, DD (8), and DD(5). We will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary on 8/21. Hoping to have dinner at Palo's that night. We have the booking, we just need the 5 year old to cooperate. Now that she and her DD won't be in the same group at the kids club, it might not happen- she has some attachment issues. But hey - we all have our issues.

And we will have fun regardless of all that!!!!

Where in NL are you? I was in St. John's in May - couldn't get over the weather! Snow the first day I arrived, and up to 18 or so 3 days later!! Not like ours is any better half of the time, but it seemed even more unpredictable than ours (for that week, anyway!).

Looking forward to some warm weather on the cruise....although knowing our luck, it will rain the whole weekend! :rolleyes1

Any other Canadians flying down the day before? We're going with Westjet (YHZ-YYZ-MCO), and staying at the Radisson Resort at the Port that night (stayed there before our cruise in Feb and loved it!).

Has anyone cruised in August before? Any tips/things to know about cruising that time of year vs February? The obvious one I'm really looking forward to is not having to figure out what to do with all of our winter coats and such.:)

Just booked and paid today! Talk about spur of the moment!!!

DW and I are celebrating our 25th Anniversary (8/18/84)

So its me (DH), DW and DS15 and DD11. Looking forward to another most memorable time on DCL.

Oh, BTW, this is a surprise for DS and DD - not sure when/how we will reveal it at this point... maybe in the car on the way down... gotta be sneaky!

Off to book the SPA villa!

Cheers!

Hey! I hadn't even noticed. We are in Durham. How cool! We are traveling with our DDs (13, 8, 2), my sister, her son (5), my niece (13) and a few friends and their kids. One of my friends son is 11. I'm sure the kids will run into each other. We are on deck 2..what deck did you get?

We'll be at Palo on the first night, and have reserved the segway excursion in Nassau.
Maybe we'll run into some of you onboard....less than 2 weeks to go!

We are on deck 7 - got the last stateroom for a party of 4 on the ship! I guess it was meant to be! DW and I are planning to surprise our DD11 and DS15 with the news sometime this weekend. I can't wait to see the expressions on their faces....

Congratulations to all of you as well!!! Our actual anniversary date is the 18th.

We have not booked Palo yet (all were taken when I booked earlier this week but since only 50% are available pre-cruise I expect we can book it once on board Saturday). We've got to nail down excursions this weekend! My DS15 will be very interested in the Segway tour too!

Cheers!

I turned 40 last year on the 4 night and will turn 41 this year on the 3 night. DH always has his birthdays at WDW.

We're starting to get excited. It's been a busy summer and it seems like we were focused on so many other things that it seems surprising that all of a sudden the cruise is here. :) We're flying in on the 19th and staying at the MCO Hyatt. We'll be on the first bus over from the airport!

I am a USA Hockey Certified Instructor. I retired from the game 3 years ago. I do miss it but after 33 years of 5 a.m. practices and 20 plus hours on the ice every weekend for 10 months out of the year I thought it was about time to hang up the whistle and skates and let some of the youngsters take control. (Plus my DW thought it would be nice if a spent some time with the family).
Good luck to your son this coming season. Please tell him to keep his head up and practice his skating because if you want to be a great Hockey player you first have to be a great skater.

So....anyone else checking long range weather forecast? Looking kind of yucky as of last night, but if the weather there is as unreliable as ours is up here, I'll only believe the forecast when it's the day before! I've been checking the National Hurricane Center website too...should be interesting to see what develops (if anything) by the end of next week. We don't really care what the weather does (but I'm sure some/most of you might have a different feeling about it!;))- it's our first trip away (without kids) in 4 years! We would be happy to stay docked in Port Canaveral if we are eating hot food (without crayons and/or Cheerios on the table) and getting up when WE want to! :thumbsup2 Although we ARE getting on a boat with +++ kids (enjoying their cruises with their families), so by day 2 or so if you see a couple wandering the ship looking completely lost and beside themselves, you'll know it's us! :goodvibes ;)

I was on the 4 night last year during this same week...I think we sailed 8/19. We were outrunning a tropical storm the whole cruise but it didn't put a damper on things for us at all. The pirate party got called off before the fireworks one night so they redid the entire thing the next. It was rainy in the AM on Nassau day but it cleared up at noon. Last year was a double dip and though CC was windy both days we had sun and good temps. The tropical storm (or whatever it was, it was a year ago and my mind is shot) parked itself off Port Canaveral. We ended up being diverted to Ft. Lauderdale and they bussed us all up to Orlando from there.

I'm not worried at all. Disney knows how to handle any situation and we will have a blast.

How does that work if you have alternate transportation? We can't use the ME for the trip down (staying in PC the night before), so we booked Cocoa Beach Shuttle - we booked them for the return trip as well. Is there an advantage to booking the ME for the trip back to the airport in the event of inclement weather? If we are diverted, would they have to get us all to the airport, or back to the port? I'm not sure on the logistics on any of that stuff...which is surprising for the mega-planner who has a cruise booked in hurricane season!

Thanks in advance for the info/sharing your experience(s)!

We weren't using Disney's transportation either. We had booked a R/T with Florida Tours. No one checked who had what mode of transportation, everyone was moved via Disney. They had buses going back to port for the people who had cars there, resort buses, and MCO buses. It went far more smoothly than you would think. We did have to get up very early...the first breakfast seatings were something like 5 AM...but we all made it. The people with early flights disembarked first.

I made a half hearted attempt to get reimbursed from Fla Tours since they were paid for the R/T, but that didn't go anywhere. I got to the airport so I was happy.

Hi Moira (mc2),
Just posting to say "Hi" and hope you have a WONDERful time on the cruise. We will be at Disney World the same time you are on the cruise so we're not TOO jealous. We should try to coordinate having our pictures taken with Mickey at the same exact time in 2 different places. :goodvibes

Flight and transportation $$$,
shore excursions $$,
Palo's dinner $$,
3 Days on a Disney cruise for your 7th anniversary with NO kids...PRICELESS! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Wishing you great weather and smooth seas! :wizard:

Sometimes they do not divert at all. They just add extra sea days and on a 3 day cruise that would'nt be to fun. Oh well we will have fun no matter what we do because I know it's better than work........:yay:

It will be interesting to see what Bill does - it seems like Ana won't be a problem, but Bill might be a different story. Some of the predictions/tracks have it moving up toward Canada - that would be my luck! :lmao: We live in Nova Scotia - here I am watching what will happen for next weekend, and we could get nailed by it at home later in the week! As many of you recall, we had a medical emergency on board shortly after departure. Unfortunately one of our thread colleagues, Coach, felt ill. Please see this thread for details from Coach:

Fortunately Coach is doing much better! I know many of you will want to wish him continued improvement and a quick return to a DCL cruise as soon as possible.
