or mums, that is. I have 6 still in my beds from the fall. It never froze here; they never died. I think they will die if I don't uproot them and take them out of the South Texas heat....

any ideas?

You might try cutting them back to get fresh sprouts for this year.

If the mum's are planted in good soil and watered regularly you should not have a problem.

I do not know what the rules for mum are in Texas, but here in the Northeast a weekly pinching back until July 15 will produce bushy strong stemmed mums that flower in the fall.

perhaps I should have qualified that with--there are no blooms on the mums. Should I cut back all the foliage to the ground, or should I just leave the small green bush?

I'd recommend cutting the foliage back to about 3 or 4 inches. With water, you should see new growth fairly quickly.
