help with lap top

Lap top will not go on for me

was wondering if there is another way to switch on a laptop using the keyboard as it will not go on by pressing the ON button

its an old laptop and I have backed up most of the stuff on a storeage box but now can't get that stuff to open on the new lap top :confused3 :confused3
before I send the old laptop to the PC hospital thaught I'd ask here first

normally no. presumably its all charged and the mains is plugged in? also try slipping the battery out and back in and try holding down the power button for 15-20 secs(incase its hibernated or something) then doing a normal push of it to see if it'll come back on
