Does anyone know how far Vero Beach is from WDW and what rates I can expect for June.
We are driving down and might be able to stay a couple of days longer. So we thought of driving to Vero Beach if it would possible.

It's about a two hour drive. The rates will vary depending on what type of room you get, but plan on $200-400 per night.

Disney Club is also offering discounts. The summer rack rates (before the 11% tax) are:
Studio or Garden View Inn $185
Ocean View Inn $215
1 Bedroom - $270
2 Bedroom - $370
Beach Cottage $795

I thought I heard that Vero Beach was DVC. Not true or is just part of it DVC?

Vero is 100% DVC. The resort is not yet sold out, so the developer (Disney) still has rooms in inventory that they can rent. Also, some members might choose to trade out to a non-DVC resort with their points, also freeing up rooms for rental.

Thanks for clearing that up ducklite! I wonder how hard it is for a non DVC to get a room and if CM's can get any discounts there. Do you know?

There are usually Inn rooms available. It's pretty hard to get a 1BR during peak times.
As far as CM discounts, you might better ask that question on the Cast Member board, or call CRO directly.

Hello everyone! I thought I would add my 2 cents to this thread. For the past 3 years we have stayed at Disney's Vero Beach resort. We are not DVC members, and have experienced no problems reserving 1 BR Villa's for our summer stays. Last summer, we stayed 10 evenings in a 1 BR Villa. We used the Birnbaum's rate, and had to make two separate ressies, as they only permit 7-days max. for the BB discount. The CM suggested making 2 ressies to get around this limit, and we had no trouble checking in. This summer, I purchased points directly from a DVC member (on the DIS :) ), saving us a lot of $$$. W/points, (@ $8 each) the Deluxe Ocean View Inn Room would cost $120 per eve & $175 for the 1BR Villa! This price includes all taxes, etc. It is a BIG savings over the rack rate, and even over the 25% Birnbaum's discount!
It takes us about 90 minutes to reach Vero from WDW using the Beeline. We go to Melbourne, and then follow the sebastian inlet (along the causeway) through Melbourne beach to Vero (about 20 minutes from Melbourne). It can take up to two hours (traffic, etc.) as Anne stated. We love this resort, and have enjoyed our stays tremendously. Hope you give it a try, they have wonderful CM's, and a magical resort. Check out the Points on the Dis DVC board. :)

Hi dreamflight - Do you combine a WDW vacation with a Vero Beach vacation or do you usually do them separate? I'd love for my dd's to see the ocean and would maybe combine the two into one vacation. I'm wondering which would be better to do first. Would we be too excited for WDW to enjoy VB first? But then again would VB seem a little boring after WDW or maybe we'd be ready for some R&R by then. I just seem to have horrible withdrawal after leaving WDW I'm afraid I wouldn't enjoy VB as much. And what about weather, we'd probably go in late Jan. early Feb. would we have warm weather? Sorry about all of the questions.

Thanks Dreamflight - I just called the 800# for Vero Beach off the Mickey Monitor and was told there if no availability. So I'm going to take your suggestion and try the Dis DVC boards for point. Thanks again.
