Hey Everybody,
I thought it was about time that someone started a thread for our cruise!!
My DH and I will be celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary aboard the ship. We are leaving our ds(6), dd(3) and ds(1) at home with Grandma and Grandpa.
I am really looking forward to all of the fun and a little time away with just my DH.
Who else is going to join us aboard the Wonder for 4 magical nights???

Ya, I am replying to my own thread...
One of the reasons that I started the thread is that my DH just told me that he really wants to go to Atlantis and do the waterpark stuff. :cool1:
I checked the comfort suites rates and it still seems really high. I am hoping that the price will come down so it will fit into our "cruise budget".
Anyway, if we went this route, we would love to split the cost of the Comfort Suites room with two other people. From what I understand, you get 4 Atlantis wrist bands per room booked. If we could split the cost 4 ways instead of just 2 ways, it would fit into our budget much better.:dance3:
Any takers??? :rolleyes1

Yay! Finally--I posted too soon before I checked page 1 for a link to our cruise!
We are cruising the Wonder March 1-5. It will be our family of 4 and our good friends who also have a family of 4. We live on the east coast and they live on the west coast.
We can't wait!

I can't wait! I'm looking at reserving excursions right now, came on here to read some feedback about the Nassau activities.

I think my son will be fine with it IF he makes a friend or two. He's not big on crowds and he's a little shy, but once he makes a friend, he's good to go. I haven't heard of ANY kids who didn't like the clubs. Have you?

Hello everybody,
I just wanted to get on here and show my utter excitement for our families first cruise. There will be 10 of us total and they will include my parents, sister, brother-in-law, niece, DW, DD6, DD8, DD15.
I have become obsessed with this cruise since we booked it. I have been researching and planning and researching and dreaming and researching and getting overly excited and researching...
There seems to be a pattern here...has anyone else experienced this? :santa:

Honestly no. But Im worried because for some reason my son was born programed to make sure he never acts too silly or in a way that someone may be able to tease him. im afraid he will not "let loose" and have fun because he is worried. He worries about everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! I dont understand it, maybe it comes from being an only child for 8 years and being with his boring (or embarassing) parents too much!:cool1:

If I could butt into your guy's conversation for a minute ;) my DD is 8 as well. Ironically, her name is Nicole (we call her Nikki or Nick) and although she does like to have a good time, she too is pretty shy at the start and a bag of nerves to boot. She seems to worry about everything. I think she will be on nerve pills by the time she's 12
Maybe our kids will bump into each other in the kids club, sense each others nervousness with some kind of kid superpowers and form some kind of Disney Kid's Club super group or something. That way we could all enjoy a little alone time with our significant others.
Anyway, I just wanted to share that. I thought it was kinda funny.

Hello again everyone.....sorry for the horrid typing last night. I was so exhaused. I just got back from my 7 days on the Magic this past saturday and rebooked for March 1st....did any or all of you get the come back for 99.00 deal? And have you choose your dates? We were thinking Sept 30th for my sons birthday. It would be nice if we all get along to again take our second trips together. On this last cruise (which was my first) I met so many great people from on here and would like to meet more.

Thanks PoppyGirl - the username actually came from my husband going looney after repeated episodes of Dora the Explorer. In this particular episode that my son LOVED when he was 2 or 3 Dora went to visit her Grandmother who sang a song about a cake that contained the word chocolate pronounced "Choc-o-la-tay" - DH has called me Pip or Pippy since college and after about a week of this Dora episode played around the clock he made up an off-color song about Dora and he inserted "Pippy-la-tay" into the song and it stuck!
BTW, I love the name Poppy! - it was threatened to be the name of my son if he were born a girl, many times!

Well the "Great Reveal" was anti-climatic to say the least! We were getting ready to go to my MIL & FIL for the Christmas Eve activities, Dh and I said since you have been good we are going to let you open ONE gift from us before we go. We had the camera out and everything! So he opens a box that contains the DVD and the "postcard" that comes in the package in the mail. He reads the card and just looks at us. Were going on a Disney Cruise? he asked. ( I was almost jumping up and down by this point!) We were like YES!!!!! He said (and I quote) awesome, so when does Santa come again? What? We are taking you to Florida getting on a Disney Cruise and all you have is awesome, whens santa coming? Holy Cr*p are you kidding me? :headache: I should have expected that, he isn't ungrateful really I don't want to make him sound like that, he just doesn't get excited about much. I of course was devestated and my DH has assured me that as it get closer he will be excited. I guess we'll see:confused3

Happy New Year everyone.
My wife and I actually had the house all to ourselves last night. All of the kids were at grandparents, all night bowling with the church, etc. and with the house ALL TO OURSELVES on New Years Eve, we could do anything that we wanted to celebrate the new year together.
With all of these possibilities in front of us, we ended up doing a couple of shots together and sitting down at the kitchen table to start getting our packing list together for March 1st.
We were actually working on it and had to stop and run into the living room to watch the ball drop with Dick Clark. How bad is that? :rotfl:
Anyway, we got the list done and went first thing this morning to the dollar store and a couple of other places to get the odds and ends that we felt we needed through tips from our Passporter's books. We have most of it now with just a couple of little things left to pick up.
Being that I am a fan of horror flicks I am anxiously awaiting the new Friday The 13th movie that comes out on 2-13-2009 but, IMHO, March 1st couldn't get here any faster.
These next couple of months are going to be very exciting and very torturous at the same time.
See you all soon,
Donnie

Oh wow....I feel your pain! You plan and plan and plan, knowing how much fun you are all going to have on the cruise. I'm SURE he will be more excited as time goes on! You've had lots of time to be excited about telling him. HE had lots of time to think and anticipate Santa coming, right? It's going to be great!

We started our countdown calendar with the kids yesterday. I made calendars on the computer and little Mickey Mouse heads with my cricut (GREAT Christmas gift from DH) for the kids to stick on each day. Yay!
BTW, donnyhoo, I thought your story about New Year's Eve was hilarious. I'm WAY more excited about planning this trip than watching crazy people freezing in Times Square!

yea. me too. we went into the living room, counted down from 10, celebrated for a couple of minutes and after looking at Kelly Pickler out in Times Square with her eye lashes frozen to her eyelids we kinda chuckled and went back into the kitchen and got back to work.

Allright, ever since the "great reveal' did not go as planned, as well as the less then enthusiastic reactions from our DS, my Dh and I had to sit him down and get to the root of his problem. Let me back track about a week and a half or so. We were watching the informational DVD with DS and he had a complaint about everything! He doesnt want to sleep on the fold down sofa. He is certain he will not enjoy ANYTHING but the arcade. He doesnt want to be left at the kids club but doesnt want to spend all his time with us. I think you get the point. So finally i I just said "THATS IT"! "I am not taking you!" I dont care how much money we will lose I am not taking a child that can be happy about nothing when his parents have put so much time and effort into making him happy!" Well ofcourse he started to cry. Then asked me "how could you?" Very easily i reply! You have been awful! No, No , No he said, GET THIS! "Mom, how can you and dad leave my sister at home?" I have never been away from her. I cant leave her for that long! Well I was floored! I never thought that he would be having issues leaving his sis. She is 8 months old will be 10 when we cruise. I have been having a really hard time with that aspect but I guess I under estimated how we would feel about it. So we explained just how different the cruise will be if she was to come and he decided that we made the right decision and ever since he has been a wonderful, delighful little child who is SUPER excited about our upcoming cruise!:worship: :worship:

I am so excited.
We are finally getting close enough to our cruise date for my DH to get excited!! I have been dreaming about this cruise ever since I booked it last April. Unfortunately, my DH didn't find the same excitement in talking about a cruise that was so far away. :confused3
Today, he asked me if I knew where the DCL DVD was because he would like to watch it. :woohoo: We sat and watched it together and enjoyed every minute of it.
He is finally interested in all of the fun we are going to have. He even asked me if I thought we would be able to eat at Palo -- good thing I already made our reservations!! :cool1:

I love it when the DH gets excited it just makes it all that much more fun. My hubby and I talked about for like 3 hours the other day while he was "working". It never fails one of us starts the conversation with so what is it you can't wait to do? It just carries it self after that!

Hi all. I HOPE to be on this cruise too. This is the date that works best for us, but DH still refuses to book till it gets closer. It has a little to do with his job, but also becuase he just does everything last minute and I swear also because he loves to drive me mad. He does this every year for every vacation. One year we had a weekend get away planned with my older children and he cam in to get ready to leave and change his mind on where we were going (driving) and we went on a better trip than origionally planned. LOL!
So anyways, I am proceeding with my research and planning like this is the date we are going. This wil lbe our first Disney cruise (I have sailed NCL twice and DH once) and DD4's first cruise ever. I also turn 40 on Feb 14th so it will be a b-day celebration as well.
What Cat.s are you all booked for? What dinner seating? What excursions?

I have never been before however from what i have read in the passporter and online all aboard time is 4pm. the Ship doesnt actually leave until around 5pm. We are also flying in the morning of and we dont land until 12:30 pm :scared: Did you puchase land transfers? That is the thing that i am worried about because we have to wait on them when we get to the Orlando airport. It is about a 1 hour drive to the port from the airport! So I think we wont be to the termial until about 3 :scared:

We are actually landing in Tampa, (because the price was waaayyy less) So add another 1/2 hr. to our drive. We have my inlaws who live in FL picking us up and giving us a ride, if it all works out we should be at the ship by 2:00! I dare that airline to try and tell my we aren't leaving on time! hehe!:hyper:

I'm surprised Tampa is cheaper? I know from my area it wasn't as I looked at tit oo. LOL!
We are still unoffically booked, so I am still trying to decide if we want to do the disney transfer or rent a car. I think we may try to fly in the night before too. Since we live in OH and have alot of snow on the ground I want to be sure we get there and don't miss the boat. I'm also considering staying one night after too to let DD calm down. The last two trips to WDW she has gotten overstimulated and by day 4 has thrown up. I am thinking if we do a day of just relaxing at a hotel and maybe some swimming and napping the ride home wil lbe better. She has also had meltdowns at the airport, especially last year as she was so tired and not feeling well. I know DH will grumble about staying another day, but I do think it might be in our best interest.

Well it sounds like a good plan. Our DS has Autism and we have worked 5 yrs. to get him to this point. I am comfortable with taking him on a cruise finally. We have done WDW in the past 3 times and everytime it is just too much. So, I'm hoping this time will be different. He is very into making friends so I figured this would be a good place to start, he also wants to dance with a "girlfriend" as he says, hehe!!

Just checking in gang. The time is almost here :cool1:
We have been doing a few little things as well. I have made some business cards with our name, address, phone, e-mail, etc. for my DW and I as well as my DD 15 so if we make some new friends then we can just give them a card to stay in contact.
My DW also had me buy Disney shirts for everyone. She wanted to do the matching thing and she wants to put our last name on the back so they match as well. I told her that that might be a little much because our girls are 6,8,15 and they all know what their names and such are by now ;)
She told me to mind my business and that I make my plans for the trip and she will make hers so I had to finally put my foot down and when it was all said and done I guess I will be wearing a Disney t-shirt with my name on the back :rotfl2:
Anyway, as for getting there, we have decided to drive. We are coming from Ohio so we will be leaving out Friday night. We have booked a room at the Raddison At The Port and will be staying there Saturday and relaxing to get ready for the cruise.
We are coming in a group of 10 and my mother has trouble getting around and walking and wears down easy so we thought it might be best to get there the day before so she can rest up.
Also, I want to go to the Grills restaurant that's right on the water where you can sit out on the deck and watch the ships come sailing in right in front of you. I heard it was an awesome site and that the Disney ship usually comes in around 5PM on Saturday. I don't know if that's always true or not, that's just what I heard.
Anyway, the whole gang is pumped and ready to go.
See you all soon...

The temps should be 65-75+ and from what I am hearing the water might be a tad bit chilly when you first get in but you get used to it quickly and after that it's fine. I've also heard that it's not bad at all and warm when you enter it. If you are from the northern part of the U.S. as we are it should feel like a nice jump in the pool in June or July. That's just what I'm hearing though.
As for the sea lice, go to buysafesea.com. We are taking a couple of bottles with us and I have heard good things about it. It's basically a sun tan lotion that protects you from getting stung by jellyfish and sea lice.
Not sure about the dinner thing. This is my first cruise as well so I don't about timing this stuff yet ;)
Hope this helps,
Donnie

Is it too late to join in the fun??? We just booked yesterday to go on this cruise! :cool1: I am so excited and nobody else really "gets" it! I need to plan, plan ,plan and warned my husband that I will be obsessing for the next 4weeks!
Here's who will be with me: DH, DD 7, and DD 5. We are leaving our older boys at home. They just don't think a Disney cruise sounds like a lot of fun. Crazy, I know! They have been to WDW several times so it's not like we are depriving them. Plus a week at home with no parents is much more fun to them! We are flying into Orlando on the 25th so we can go to Fulton's for our anniversary on the 26th. My husband gets a kick out of telling people he is taking his wife to Orlando for dinner on our anniversary! We are going to spend a couple days after the cruise at WDW. All in all a long and fun trip with a cruise in the middle. :cheer2:
Question: If you are staying at a resort, are you taking Disney transfers to the port or renting a car or town car? That is the only part of the trip I don't have planned and I just don't know what the best way to go is. I feel like paying $300 for Disney transfers is a little much. Renting a car for the day seems like a hassle with finding the rental car return and then having to go and rerent after the cruise--but is most budget friendly. The Town Car would be cheaper than Disney and without the hassle of the rental car, but still it's $200+. I don't know what to do!!!
I just can't wait to step on that ship and sail away! I'm glad I have you all to share in the excitement!

GirlieGirl,
Welcome!! I am so glad you are joining us!
To answer your transportation questions: We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort before the cruise. We have rented a car through Enterprise. I had to call to make the reservation, because I couldn't figure out how to do a one-way rental online.
We will pick up the car from the Hilton (I think -- I should double check that) by Disney and then drop off by the port. They have a shuttle that will take us to the ship. The cost was less that $30.
After the cruise, we will take the Enterprise shuttle back to their office and rent a car for the day. We are going to drop it back off at the airport that night before our flight. That rental cost us a little more at $34.
I figure that a little hassle with pickup/dropoff, traffic, and directions is worth all of the money that we will be saving.
Hope that helps some!

Hi Girlie Girl! :wave2:
We are staying at POP before our cruise and have rented a limo. We are traveling with another family so it was actually cheaper for us to rent a limo and share the cost than to pay for Disney transfers! (Shh! It's a surpise--my family doesn't know!)

Thanks for the transportation help! I think I will look into renting a car so we can head to the port when we want and make any stops that we need to make before the cruise.
Is anyone decorating their door (I may have missed this up thread)? I'm going back a forth on it. I don't know that I wil have the time to make up magnets and/or signs.
I'm off to do fun cruise shopping/planning!

Starmom we are practically across the hall from each other! :cheer2:
As far as the "game" today i rebooked our flight to get us to Orlando the night before because I have been soo very stressed about midwest winter weather that I am terrified of a cancelled flight or something and we were originally flying out the day of :scared: So now we are coming in the night before and staying at a hotel close to the airport! It only cost me 13.00 more to reissue the tickets!

Let's see today I bought a portable fan online because I can't sleep without direct air movement on my face(I am crazy, yes I know!) but i feel like I am suffocating without it. I am a smidge  claustrophobic hehehe! Thats why we had to get a room with the balcony in cause i freak out!
Other than that I had to tend to some non cruise related details :scared1: (I know, right) and thats about all I did today!

ShawnaH--where did you find the fan? I like the white noise of a fan when I sleep...it helps to drown out the snoring of a certain DH! :rotfl2:
Yesterday I ordered cruise scrapbooking supplies (not actually for the cruise but definitely trip-related!) and today I am going to make a pirate party music CD to play to set the mood for the Caribbean!

Poppy- i found the fan at amazon.com i only paid 10.99 plus shipping it is 7 inches I think, weighs 4 pounds and is 11.5 x 11.2 x 6.5 so it will fit in the suitcase. I have no idea what you mean about the snoring DH ( yeah right!)
a fan completly helps with that too!

Hi Everyone!
Is it too early to break out the suitcases??? I feel the need to start packing, I'm afraid I'll make too many lists and miss something on one of them. I figure if I throw stuff in the suitcase it'll be there!
I finally made a decision for our transportation to the port. We are going to rent a car. I just can't see paying 3 times the cost for Disney transfers. I guess Disney will get our money one way or another though--we'll just be spending on other stuff!
Only 20 more wake ups until we leave and 24 until we step on that WONDERful ship! :cool1:

Hi! I know, I'm thinking the same thing! I want to start packing too...I keep making mental packing lists and I fear it's beginning to make me a bit insane :hyper:. I may bring the suitcases out of the attic this weekend.
We're renting a car too...

Well, we got bumped up from a category 12 to an 11, not much (I was hoping for category 6, but oh well! :) ) Maybe the upgrade fairy will be good to us when we arrive at port, but I am happy anywhere on that ship!
Anyone else?

Hello everyone, please add my family and I to the list--we just booked yesterday! Nothing like the last minute....
We are staying at Caribbean Beach for 2 nights before boarding the cruise March 1st. We took this same cruise last year and had such a spectacular time, we couldn't resist doing the same again.
It will be me, my husband, son (almost 15) and daughter (12 1/2). We just told them last night and they haven't even had much time to digest it. Last year the waterpark at Atlantis was a huge hit as a Nassau excursion, but I think we will forgo that this year for something less expensive (they are disappointed, but I think they'll live).
We have our Cat 9 room number--2150--I hope it is OK but I haven't read the reviews yet. Last year we were Aft 2012 and it was awesome.
Does anyone know--at Castaway Cay, can we get just a banana boat ride now, or are all the banana boat rides hooked in as packages with other things?
Well, I'd better get back to work to earn money for our trip! :o)
Happy packing, everyone! We are ready to escape cold Minnesota for the warmth of the sun!

Guess I have forgotten my "ship language" in one short year. We were in 2012 FORWARD (not Aft). Yikes. I think I will be lost a lot on the ship--if you see a confused woman roaming around, please point me in the right direction to my room. Ha!

Hey everybody,
Just checkin in and playin catch up. I feel like I'm the only guy on here. My DW is excited as well but she just isn't in to the forum thing to much. She's not a big computer person. Does that make me a weirdo :crazy2:
Anyway, here's my two cents on all the chatter going on in here.
First off, We are going in a family group of 10 with 2 connecting rooms. Our room numbers are 8568 & 8570.
Nice work starmom on getting the fuel surcharge credit. I didn't even think about it. I read that and thought I should call myself so I did that tonight and they gave us a $100 room credit for EACH room. Thanks for that tip. If I run into you and your DH on the ship, I owe you a drink :drinking1
Also, so I don't get into trouble by ShawnaH, I also asked them about the travel documents and he told me that mine were sent out yesterday @ 5PM. He said I should be seeing them Monday or Tuesday so they should be on the way for ALL of us I would assume :donald:
I also cracked up when I read about you getting the Captain Morgan for your DH. I am doing the exact same thing. I told my DW all I needed was my bottle of Cap and the Coke drink station directions and I was good for the whole cruise :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1
I will also join in on "the game" PoppyGirl. We already have a suitcase full of gimmicks and gadgets...
http://www.52deerhuntingtips.com/images/100_0033.jpg
as well as new Disney shirts and cinch bags for the DD's...
http://www.52deerhuntingtips.com/images/100_0034.jpg
I also have my SafeSea on the way and should be here next week. Damn them Jellyfish. ;)
Seriously though, I heard that they aren't really all that much of an issue but I'm not taking a chance on one of the DD's getting stung. They get a scratch on their arm and they are ready to call in the ambulance to rush them to the hospital and get prepped for amputation so I'd hate to see what would happen if a Jellyfish gave them a little zap.
My DW and DD's are doing a sleep over @ the church for Girl Scout's this evening so I am taking my mom and dad out to the store tonight to get a few more things for them.
My mom is the main reason we are going on this cruise to begin with. She had a stroke a couple of years ago and still has a little trouble with her right side. She can walk for short distances but we will be wheelchairing her around for most of the trip.
The stroke scared her and my dad a little and one day she overheard me talking about the Disney DVD I sent away for. She told me that going on a cruise was one of the things that she wanted to do before she died so that got the ball rolling and in 3 more weeks one of her goals in life will be fullfilled.
Anyway, my dad has a little trouble pushing her around for a long period of time and she doesn't get out too much so I am taking them out DISNEY CRUISE SHOPPING BABY :mickeyjum
OK, I think I'm pretty much caught up and back on track here.
Oh yea, someone mentioned travel and lodging. We are driving down and are coming in a day early and staying at the Radisson At The Port to get rested up for the cruise. We rented a 12 passenger van for the week and it was MUCH cheaper than flying and travel from Orlando to the Port.
Alright, I'm off the pick up the folks. Talk to you guy's later...

Not weird at all. I've thought of doing it myself. It's funny to watch my youngest DD's when they get around it sometimes. They are 6 & 8 and they can't keep their fingers out of it. They will unzip it, take everything out and make out a list of what's in it as they put it back in. It's too cute princess:
Well, to update on "the game", the parents had a successful night out shopping. They got a good amount of things that they needed and are just about ready to roll.
I took my two youngest DD's to the BMV this morning and got them State ID's. I know they don't need them if they are with parents but my DW and I thought it would be a good idea to have a picture ID of them just in case.
It was a good trip. All of the ladies at the BMV were just oogleing over the girls' adventure and thought their cheesy smiles for their pictures was the cutest thing they had seen in a long time.
My DD's were excited to get them and they turned out real good. My youngest understands that it is a State ID only but that isn't stopping her from trying to talk me into letting her get behind the wheel now that she's "legal" :drive:
We also went and had some business cards made with our personal info on them. We got this tip from our passporter and thought it was a good idea so that if we make some new friends on the ship we can just give them a card to stay in touch.
That's about it for now. Talk to you guy's later,

Hi everyone. Looks like we will be joining you all on March 1st. We booked our cruise last Friday (I'm so way behind here LOL). It will be 4 of us cruising, DH , me, DD8 and DS5! We haven't told them yet and I'm not really sure when we should tell them, you know? If I tell them now I'll have to listen to them asking me how much longer do we have, ect.. but I don't want to wait until we are boarding the ship either. That just doesn't seem right!:lmao: I just made our resversation at the Radisson in Port Canaveral to night too. I'm so excited!
I'm trying to start my packing now but am so worried about what kind of clothes to bring. Will it be chilly at night? How cold is it in the dinning rooms? Will we be comfortable in shorts and tank tops? Ugg... I don't want to take our whole closets either. LOL
Well it's nice to meet you all.

We are all so excited!
Yes, hello welcome aboard!! I'm so happy to see some more cruisers with son boys around my DS's age!! He's 5 too!!
I just want to say Happy Monday to everyone, let's get through this week and we will be that much closer to our amazing trip!!!:dance3:
Will it be chilly at night? How cold is it in the dinning rooms? Will we be comfortable in shorts and tank tops?
---------- Last time I went it was the first cruise in March 2006. Slightly cooler than normal --- but yes pack tank tops, light t-shirts, shorts....also be sure to pack a hoodie and maybe a couple thin long sleeve shirts ---incase you decide to go explore deck 9 at 4 in the morning....more importantly, incase you need protection for your sunburn. Heed their warnings and use lots of sunblock!! And by the time you've put it on....you get like a 10 minute break and it's time to start all over again.
Since you have a long drive ahead of you, I'm sure you'll be bringing jeans and warmer shirts anyways. lol.
The weather was beautiful. You could break a sweat walking around Nassau and there was enough sun at Castaway Cay to come back with a dark tan. Cool breeze in the mornings. Don't miss you chance to see the unobstructed sunrise while on board. It was great.
Funny thing -- I don't remember what the temp was like in the dining rooms...must have been too busy trying to decide what to get. lol. No tanktops or shorts generally in the dining room.
How many days to go? Oh, well. Have to head to the office. Grrrrr.....:surfweb:

Thank you so much Met that helps alot. I had to bold that line and laugh for a minute. Sorry guys I'm not coming from the cold tundra like most people.lol We live in South Texas on the border of Mexico. Today will be a wonderful mid 80's for us. But I do feel for everyone up North freezing their butts off.
Thanks for the help with the clothes. I dont want to pack a ton of stuff but maybe I'll pack a few warm things for us.
I'm going shopping today for the sun screen (waterbabies all the way). I love that stuff sense I'm fair skin and fry like an egg on a hot day. My kids are blessed with their daddys skin and they tan like nobodies business (but I still put tons of sun screen on them too) Just in case.lol

As far as warm clothes goes. We are leaving the 28th and we live in lllinois so on the plane we are going to wear jeans and each of us will need to wear a jacket or hoodie to the airport cuz like i said it is winter in the Midwest, but of course we don't want to have our huge winter coats with us either so other than maybe a long sleeved shirt we probably won't pack much else. It has been 60 for two days in a row and I have already broke out the flip flops! Its a dang heat wave right now!

Hi Pippy...it's Poppy...(that made me laugh...it doesn't take much apparently!) We are at opposite ends of the hallway...at least I'm not the only one in an inside cabin!
Spoke to Disney this morning and we'll all automatically be receiving stateroom credit for the amount they charged us. Don't even need to call them. Yea!:goodvibes
Met, husband, DD9, DS4.5 and family friend 30 (She'll hate me for that.)
We were upgraded to rooms 7004 and 7006 -- oceanview. SO EXCITED!!!:rotfl:

Hey Everyone! I've just gotten caught up from page 2 - it's been awhile since I've logged on. :surfweb: Glad to see we'll be sailing with so many fellow DIS'ers.
Sea lice? OMG! Where do I get the Seasafe lotion? Can I buy it locally or is it something that needs to be ordered?
We got our cabin assignment - 5635. Now I'm stalking the mailman waiting for those cruise documents to arrive.
Did anyone set a time or date for a meet onboard?
We're flying in a day early since I don't trust the weather. We'll be staying at Port Orleans Riverside and taking the Disney Cruise bus to the port. After the cruise we've got 5 more days at POR.
Can't wait to meet you all!

Ricky's Girl,
We are just two doors down in 5639. I don't have many magnets made, but I do have a few. There shouldn't be much traffic on our end of the ship, so you might be one of the few to actually see my door magnets! :cool1:
I got a package today in the mail and I got so excited! Then I realized it was just a DVD that I ordered last week. I am sooo ready to get my cruise documents. It just gets me one step closer to getting on that ship!
Sorry about that. It was March 2007....right after I broke my ankle/had surgery. Fun. The staff of the Wonder did a wonderful (haha) job trying to help us out. Being in a wheelchair half the time was no fun. That's one BIG ship!
Nassau was not very handicap accessible. Got the chance to use the sand wheelchairs at Castaway Cay. Yeah. I completely forgot that I wouldn't be able to walk on sand easily. Hmmm. Should be an even better experience now that I can walk. lol

Am I the first to get my travel docs? After catching up with all the posts I thought I better check my front door (I always enter through the garage) and guess what I found waiting for me? A little package from DCL.!!!!! This makes it one step closer. This is my 4th Disney cruise and my DH's 1st. The travel docs seem smaller then the 1st few times but it will still get me on the boat! Oh by the way Cloud9 I think our cabins are next to each other. Hubby and I are in cabin 2068. DH is TDY unil a week before we leave so his time is going fast (mine is going backwards). We will arrive at Port on Sunday and after the cruise we will spend a week at the World. Can't wait to meet everyone.

After reading the last two pages of posts, I feel I need to get with the program and spend more time packing and making lists and checking my mail! Ha! No time to think about all these things--too much work to do before we can leave--too many basketball games to attend for my kids so I'm never home!
The net has been my friend, however, in that I have clicked and ordered my SeaSafe or SafeSea or whatever it is. Also picked up some new sandals for myself and bathing suits for my kids online. It's definitely "off season" in MN as far as beach attire is concerned. My son's shorts from last summer are wayyyy too small so we will need a shopping trip in the next couple of weeks (we are 1.5 hours away from any great shopping mall).
All four of us are looking forward to vacation but haven't been able to all sit down in one place together and talk about excursions--can't decide whether we should do Atlantis waterpark at Nassau again (would book through the hotel next door and get the wristbands--much more afordable) or do a glass bottom boat at either Nassau or Castaway Cay? My daughter wants to parasail but hasn't been able to talk her dad into that yet. We will definitely snorkel at CC because that was a highlight last year for all of us!! My son and I couldn't make friends with our flippers, so we took them off and stayed closer to shore but still saw beautiful fish. My brave daughter and husband ventured way out and saw awesome sights underwater!
We've been talking about what we want to do this year that we didn't do last year and have come up with a few things we want to do or try. Dining at Palo was on that list, but of course no reservations are available. Guess we have to plan ahead more than three weeks in order to grab those! :o)
I think I need to go luggage shopping too! We fly to Orlando in 17 days so it's time to get moving! Have a great day, everyone!!

That's so cool! I was afraid I'd be way off away from my fellow DISer's! I'll certainly stop and check out your magnets. :goodvibes So far we have just made some Mouse Ears for our door - gotta get dh moving on some other magnets!
I ordered my SafeSea! Although the sealice thing is really freaking me out! :scared1:
Okay - to continue the game. Can I play? :rotfl2: Last night we bought a disposable underwater camera for snorkling on CC. Also bought some sunscreen but will probably replace it with the SeaSafe stuff since I orderd the one with sunscreen in it. Haven't started packing yet but I'm working on my packing list.
I'm still searching for a nice sundress to wear to dinner on dress-up night.

Ok. Back in 2007, they didn't allow any 'outside' drinks at the terminal. I had a bottle of Dasani in my purse....they didn't catch me. Of course, I didn't even know I had it in there. BTW, the water on the cruise is actually decent. And I'm pretty picky about water.

Okay, I'll bite...
Does anyone want to meet as a group at some point during the trip? Some of us are not very good bloggers or at knocking on doors. But if we are all on the ship together for 4 nights... does anyone think there is a short period of time where we can aim to all meet and celebrate our super-highway-social-ness? I am better at that. We already know what's in each other's luggage - what do we have to hide now?
:laundy:
I don't want to set up a schedule or anything, but let's say I think I'll be wanting a margarita at Signals at 9pm on Sunday night... :cool1: theoretically, of course... would anyone else find themselves in need of a refreshment on deck 9 at that time?

This is why I haven't blogged up until now!!
I highly suggest using the 'secret' 7 aft deck area. It has about 15 reclining deck chairs and like no one ever uses it. Trust me. I speak from experience. We could meet up and give the kids a chance to say hi or something....Seven aft is only open until sunset. You'll see the wooden door.....
Also, everyone eating on Deck 9 will assume we must have some killer stateroom with a deck that size......rotflol.

Last year I did bring along a lined shoulder bag/cooler thingy and took it to CC with us, filled with bottles of water we had in our room (I think we bought a case of them or whatever). It worked just great and it's very necessary to stay hydrated in that heat!!

And the worst part is that she was born in California and we're in South Texas. I placed an order through vitalchek and paid for the express mail option. The lady I spoke to said it takes 24 to 48 hrs for them to get the paper work to Ca vitals office and then it takes them 5 to 8 days to get the birth Certificate but they will overnight it me. So by my Calculations I should receive it the day before we are schedule to leave!!!
My neighbor was telling me that the timelines suggested are stated longer than they will actually take. God I hope she was right.

I'll update when I receive it. Still waiting for our cruise doc's to show up too.
Tikilyn: Before my first cruise I was in a wheelchair with a broken ankle and went to the Chicago Fed Building to get passport issues cleared up since I didn't have my birth certificate.
I had ordered an expedited passport.... should have been plenty of time...
but nothing in the mail. I traveled 300 miles to Chicago (during an ice storm) and waited in line for a first-come first-serve walk-in appointment with a federal representative. They informed me that I had been sent a denial letter and they needed more paperwork from me. Fortunately, they cleared everything up and I received a passport later that day. Only 2 days before departure. What a nightmare!!!
I totally feel for you. Take a deep breath. It will work out.

Sea lice?
Hi!! Looks like me and DH are sandwiched right between you guys! We're in room 5637.:) I haven't gotten my cruise docs in the mail yet either. I hope to start packing this weekend!!

A few questions?????
Do we have a dress up night? No jeans this night?
Do you sit with other people at dinner or just your family?
What time do we have to be at the Terminal by?
Thinks that's it for now!:scared:

1. I recall our 'dress-up' night (not formal though) being Tuesday night - the night of the Pirate party. My brothers wore coats over their polos and khakis. Us ladies wore sundresses.
"On 4-night cruises:
First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One "dress-up night" — jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
Final night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops"
Reference: disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/help/overview?name=PreparingForYourCruiseFAQLandingPage
2. We had a table of 7 family members last time. We sat together at one table as a group by ourselves.
"Can I request whom to sit with at dinner?
Every person in your stateroom will be at your table. At the time of booking, you can specify other people who will also be onboard. If not, assignments will be made to fill in your table. Generally, adults without children will dine with other adults, while families dine with other families."
Reference: disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/help/overview?name=OnboardDiningFAQLandingPage#3
3. The DCL website says to be aboard by 4pm. The life jacket drill is at 4:45pm. (Great photo opportunity in the fluorescent orange jackets!!) & the ship leaves port around 5:30pm.
Also:
"Since July 2008, government regulations have required guests to check in no later than 90 minutes prior to departure. The 90-minute cutoff was instituted so cruise ships could send U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP) the ship’s manifest (a list of all passengers onboard), and the CBP could take an hour to review it before clearing the ship for departure. "
Reference: tripinsurancestore.com/blog/new-cruise-line-check-in-rules/
This 90-minute-minimum only applies to those who have not filled out their forms on-line prior to arriving at the port.
Another explanantion: cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide/know_before_you_go/embarkation_advice/why_you_cant_board_late_cbp_enod_rules

I'm packing! WHOO HOO! Apparently there is an advantage to children being home sick from school and me not being able to go to work...all the laundry is getting done, clothes are sorted and ready to put in suitcases and I am super-organized! :woohoo: Perhaps TOO organized if that's even possible...DH would probably say YES.
Thanks for the info about the "what to wear to dinner" question. I don't think my DH will want to do a jacket either but we have some nice shirts and dress pants for him. From what I've read on other threads it doesn't seem to be a huge issue for people. :surfweb:
Do people stay dressed up for the shows after dinner then?
I have to say, it is really adding to the fun being able to chat with you all about our upcoming trip.:grouphug:

I didn't know that you weren't bringing her? Ya, I would be the same way. That's why we are going on a Disney cruise. My DH would so rather be going on a trip just us two. But I just can't leave him at home.
So, anyways just sorted out all of the clothes, and my DS is all set. Funny story, my DH is a procrastinator and also not a huge Disney fan like me. He asked what I wanted for Valentine's day? My response was, let's go shopping for all of your cruise clothes!! He's not impressed but this is going to be the best Valentine's day ever!:rotfl2: (my husband in the mall) hehe!

Ya, I definetly have spent the cruise amount on clothes for our trip. I'm a shopper though, it's in my blood! I also work at Old Navy, so it's easy to come home with a bag every night! It's coming to an end tonight, and then just waiting for the stuff that I ordered online to come in. Being in Maine it's nice to think about warm weather. I am all set with snow! 2 Weeks I will be sipping a Margarita and partying it up with all of you! I bought a waterproof digital camera so I can take it in the water! We booked jetskiing at Castaway Key so that will be cool to take lot's of pics too! Have a good Valentine's everybody!:cheer2: :cheer2:

I checked the Weather Channel just for grins and it's 81 sunny degrees in Nassau today. :goodvibes
I found some Wave Runners (water shoes) at Meijer's today. :woohoo: I've been looking every where so I'm very happy to cross that off my list. Still waiting for my SafeSea to arrive.
We got busy last night and made some magnets for our door and a matching anniversary t-shirt to wear at MK after the cruise.
We leave 2 weeks from today - I am so excited!
Hope everyone is having a Magical Day!!!

Oh my gosh! I accidentally clicked on the thread for the Magic Cruises. When I couldn't find our sailing date I panicked and thought you all had sailed without me!!!! :rotfl:
Just wanted to mention in case anyone was looking for this . . . I found a Pirate bandana with skulls and crossbones at Clare's tonight. I checked out a few party supply stores earlier this week with no luck. Tonight I wasn't even looking so naturally I found it. I read that Disney no longer provides bandanas for Pirate night.
Dragging out the suitcases tonight!

We are going totally OUT of our normal comfort zone and dressing up for Pirate night. pirate: The kids think it's great when mom and dad get into it too.
I'm almost packed! I've discovered some interesting things about my family while packing for this trip...for instance....who REALLY needs new underwear and how do certain members of the family go from week to week with so few pairs :scared1: . It's a mystery! (and I won't be naming any names...to protect the innocent of course). I'll just be adding that to my walmart list!
I was thinking tonight about the episode of Friends where Monica & Chandler go on their honeymoon and meet the other couple and think they are such great friends. They come back all excited about these new friends and then find out the other couple is completely avoiding them. Anyway, in the spirit of making new friends (and hopefully NOT annoying them), I posted a question about places & times for a DISmeet on the cruise thread. I'll put some suggestions in another post and then everyone can decide which one you like the best. OK? I did have dreams of being a cruise director when I was young...used to watch Julie on "Love Boat" all the time. :happytv:

Has everyone checked out the Cruise FAQ's thread? Oh my gosh! I was on there tonight and I can't believe the wealth of information. I even found reviews of my cabin.
Of course they also had a list of menus which left me drooling.
Goodnight all! We're one more day closer to crusin'. :woohoo:

Hey Poppygirl! Its funny that you were thinking about that friends episode because I was thinking about another just the other night, Does anyone remember the one where Ross has the spray on tan but gets confused and ends up having his front sprayed like 4 times? I was asking the nice boy at my tanning place about the spray on tan and said I really dont want to end up like Ross in that friends episode! He just stared at me, i tried to explain but stopped half way through he is just 19 and has only seen "like one episode, and I just didn't get it"! I left feeling old and I know Im the crazy "lady" now to all of them CHILDREN!:rotfl2:

It looks really good but if you are sweating or swimming alot it will become streaky or splotchy. I did it for my wedding and when I took my dress of the whole thing was orange on the inside! It looked good on my skin but wore off on my clothes. I am so excited!I think this is going to be the longest two weeks of my life!!:lovestruc

Hey everyone! There were some ideas posted on my other thread about where/when we might try to do a DISmeet. I'll list the ideas and see what everyone thinks.
Places:
1. Promenade Lounge on Deck 4--there's drinks/snacks available, not usually crowded and easy to find each other
2. By the Mickey Pool ice cream station--the kids can play in the pool and everyone can get a treat
3. Cove Cafe --however, this is Adults only so I'm not sure that would work
4. Deck 10 during the sail away party
5. Secret Deck 7--not usually crowded
Times:
1. During sail away party
2. 3:00pm on Sunday (first day onboard)
3. 2:30pm on Sunday (first day)
4. Second Day (Nassau day?)
Here are my thoughts: find somewhere that both kids and adults can be relaxed, not crowded, snacks are always a plus!
It would be nice to meet early before there are tons of things planned.
What time will everyone be arriving onboard? We'll be getting there fairly early as we are at WDW the week prior.
Also, how should we find each other? One group had everyone wear lime green nametags. Any ideas?

I have done it before I did it for my Wedding. Starmom is right though it did come off a little inside my dress but by the 3rd day or so that seemed to stop. I really liked mine had a good experience with it, but when I had it done it was a person who did it not a machine so I dont know if it will be different or not.

I don't know what all that includes so im sorry im no help. What I do know is that i cancelled a massage because I felt guilty leaving my Dh and DS, only to realize that I really did want one. So I tried to rebook and the one I originally had planned was taken so I HAD to take the Cabbana Massage at CC (poor me! I know right!) Ok but seriously, what are you going to do if you cancel it? Well, the excursion is 160.00 through the disney website and I just found a website about shore excursions in Bahamas and they say you can buy the passes for a total of 65.00 at a kiosk when you get off the ship? I think I will cancel and take my chances. We will find something to do...a massage sounds amazing!
