Westjet is now offering a direct flight from London to Orlando!
Too late for us, but thought I would pass it along.

It's nice to have it but the cost is just outrageous! I priced a direct flight and it was $2600 for four of us. If we drive to Detroit and fly Spirit, it's $961.
That irritates me to no end. The convenience isn't worth nearly $2000.

That is crazy if we had decent flight prices around here it would be a no brainer but not at 2600 bucks I can only imagine what my family of 6 would cost. This is part of why we drive every year. So I just did a quick check and for our family of 6 with the youngest being free it is.

Total Cost of Flight$3,346.90 CAD

I can drive to and from Disney about 10 times for that price.

The more I think of it, we're going drive next time.... paying for luggage, paying for pillows... it's nuts!! And the convenience factor is NOT worth it!

I just priced it out from both London and Toronto for the 17th and 24th of Feb. Both flights from London were regular fare, yet both Toronto flights had seat sales (of the ones I selected - decent direct flight times). What is nice is that it is cheaper to fly from London than Toronto, even with London being full fare.

Unfortunately, flying to Orando from ANY Canadian airport is still outrageous. If you live close enough to the U.S. and are willing to cross the border, you will save money.

So, while it's nice that there are direct flights from London during that time of the year - for many, the extra $300 - $500 (r/t - depending on sales) per person it costs vs. flying from the U.S. isn't worth it.

OMG that is sooooooo outrageous !! How do they plan on making any money if the prices are so that a family can't afford the cost. Last Nov. my mom, 2 kids and I flew out of Detroit for a total of $560 US ( our dollar was at par ) and we spent a little our $300 for our airbus to and from the airport. I was hoping a little extra money for the convenience of flying out 5 minutes from my home was going to make up for the extra 8+ hours we needed to leave our house before our flight out of Detroit. :sad2: Not a snowball's chance now !!!!! I guess the US wants our travel $$$ more than Canada !!!!!

Contact what ever airline you are using -- most have started charging for luggage. Pretty ridiculous !!!!!

This is what I was thinking...that the airport taxes out of London might be less than TO, so I guess that confirms that! :)
But you are right, flying out of any Canadian airport is rediculous these days.
Which is why I hadn't even bothered to look into the cost myself! ;)

Don't bother even looking it will cost you an arm and 2 legs no matter where you fly from LOL. This is one reason we love driving it is a fraction of the cost even for us to fly from the US with 6 people we can drive on average 3 times return for our cost of flying to Florida even once.
